Not the biggest fan of Woody's, though my companions love the place. Haven't eaten there in a decade but was happy to see nothing's changed. I'd ordered Haswi with two sides, it was pretty much seasoned rice with a few crumbs of beef and big dry chunks of chicken white meat mixed in. The tabouleh was soaked with vinegar, but the soup was nice, a flavorful, albeit tangy, potato soup. My companion had a dish that was a mix of spinach, onion and feta wrapped in filo dough and she said it was inedible from all the onion and vinegar. I took it home and heated it up, yes, it was indeed inedible. Into the trash it went. I appreciate the authenticity of the offerings, I'd wished they'd offered a description of what each dish was rather than us standing there looking everything up in Google. But the staff was friendly and very accommodating, the place was clean and bright, and if my friends want to go back I'll go with them. read more

Woody's is a Lansing area staple, particularly if you are a Spartan. Very quality dishes and stellar flavors. I love their lemony soup, and their schwarma. The pita is awful, but I'll let that go given everything else is always above average. read more

There are plenty of descriptive reviews of the place in general so I'll just focus in here. Good: Helpful staff, quick and efficient. Comfortable dining room. Baba is delicious. Not good: Chicken schwarma was disappointing. Seemed to be chunks of chicken breast in a sauce. Not at all like the chicken schwarma I'm used to, made with moist, juicy dark meat, marinated, deeply flavorful but not spicy, and cut off the spit into small pieces. I was craving that and did not enjoy what I had. So bummed! While staff was quick and efficient, they were not very warm and friendly. Summary: I would be willing to go back and try something else but definitely would not order the chicken schwarma again. read more

If you're looking for a healthier option that still produces high quality food, then woodies is the place for you to try! I found that the Lebanese rice was absolutely delicious and the Mediterranean salad was incredibly flavorful and pungent with flavor! The chicken kabob a La carte produced slightly drier chicken, but incredibly tender nonetheless. I've been to this location multiple times and I personally recommend any of their sandwiches! The food here is simply amazing. When we lived in Lansing, my wife and I would eat there every week. When we visited a month ago, we couldn't wait to get our veggie grape leaves sandwiches. Great food and terrific service! If you are in a rush but want something healthy this place is a great option! I've been coming to Woody's for years and I don't think you can go wrong. The hummus is delicious and the cheese pie is incredible. I usually get a combo meal - grape leaves, hummus and a greek salad. Yum! It does get busy during lunch and dinner, but you won't wait more than 10 minutes for your food to be ready. I recommend getting your food to go, even if you are going to eat in the store - their portions are large and you'll end up needing a to go container anyway. Truly one of the best options for a vegan in the area. I am a regular and would suggest their mujadra, smeed, cauliflower, and falafel sandwiches. Personally, I always ask for extra turnip and tahini sauce. I also love their hummus. The place is clean and they are always nice. I used to go here while living in the area in 2004. I'd always get the spicy falafel sandwich and few ala carte grape leaves. Today I had plotted on it because I had to take trip from Detroit to MSU. This was to be my dinner when I got home and lunch Monday. No tastes before. I wanted to sit down comfortably. 20 years later... THEY DID NOT DISAPPOINT! Consistent same falafel and grape leaves! $16.00 for two filling meals! Needless to say, I cannot WAIT for lunch tomorrow service was awesome, friendly and welcoming. Is Woody's the best Middle Eastern food? No, not by any means. Is it decent? Yeah. But what sets this place aside from the rest is that it's family owned, and they really care about their customers. It's very rare to have such a humbling, homey experience at any restaurant, let alone an upscale fast food spot. It's pretty cheap too, but I'm also from New York so anything compared to Manhattan prices is cheap. Big portions, good quality, try their homemade iced tea, it's very good. read more

Woody's has been an old school Middle Eastern favorite in East Lansing for over 25 years. Perched on the edge of MSU campus, this is one of original places to go for Lebanese cuisine. It's been a while since I've been here, and quite honestly, it was because the place had started to decline. Today I decided I would revisit one of the key places that got me hooked on these flavors. I have to admit, I missed this place. Although they upgraded the menus and some decor, I could still see the old Woody's. I'm sure glad I decided I give it another try. Return to my roots. This place is pretty damn good. I was here for lunch, so I went kinda easy. Beef kafta sandwich, side of baba ghanoush, and a drink ran me about $12 out the door. That's with the tip. This place isn't fancy and this place isn't just an armpit hole in the wall either. It is a simple, clean, comfortable, flavorful, affordable Lebanese dining experience that would stomp any fast food dining halls face into a mud hole. The aroma of whatever they were cooking definitely made me salivate when I came in. Neat place with lots of options. I am a meat eater and was recommended the kibbe wrap. They also recommended the cauliflower wrap. Of the two, the cauliflower definitely shone. The flavors were there in balance. I also really liked their vegetarian grape leaves. I got their MSU green machine juice. I thought it was OK. They don't add sugar which is great health-wise, but the drink tasted a bit watered down. The staff there was really nice and helpful. Very good food I got mine to go. What I ordered the helpings where very big and I could not eat it all. I highly recommend this restaurant you will be happy. I only ate here once and was bouncy around Lancing Mi while I was there trying different food. I will be back next time I'm in town. I seen more on the menu I want to try. Ambiance: Little bit of a fast-foody feel here with a huge ordering counter and self-seating all around. The counter was cluttered but did showcase a delectable array of baked goods. Service was super-friendly. Food: We ordered the spicy chicken combo and a chicken schwaerma combo. The spicy chicken was probably the most flavorful with a nice savory chili sauce. Sadly most everything else was a let down. The chicken itself was slightly over-braised, being overly tender to the point of mealiness. It was stewing in its thin clear juices when schwaerma is traditionally slow-roasted and therefore should be fairly dry. The chicken schwaerma flavoring seasoning was very lackluster. We fortunately ordered the spicy garlic sauce on the side which helped the chicken dishes along but not enough to cover up the poor preparation. Secondly, the rice with vermicelli pieces clearly tasted like it came from a instant box (rice-a-roni?), both in flavor and texture. People who cook their rice and pilafs at home will be able to tell the difference. I'm used to fluffy-pillow-y pita lightly steaming on the inside and mildly crisped on the outside, not the dry and tough leather this place served. I will give them credit, however, the spicy hummus was excellent and I appreciate the copious amount they gave with the combo (a whole round tupper's worth!). Finally, the mediterranean and greek salads were decent. Overall, the non-schwaerma schwaerma, instant-rice, and terrible pita bread ruined the meal for me. The spicy sauce they covered the chicken with, the garlic sauce, and the spicy hummus were admittedly very tasty and salvaged the meal partly. I honestly wouldn't come here again except to get very specific things, definitely not a meal. The desserts did look admittedly delicious but I'll continue my pursuit for better mediterranean food in Lansing. read more

I did not grow up eating Mediterranean food. Woody's was my first exposure to it, and it was pretty good. Their hummus is absolutely delicious. I want to really shoutout this place for catering. I have been to many meetings where Woody's Oasis is catered. The food has always been great quality and very fresh. It was horrible. We stopped here on the way up North. The chicken shawarma had that chopped lettuce and dank seasoning. I was very hungry and it was just eating to survive. It was not good. Bad sign when there are no middle eastern people working there. The falafel was worse, all soggy and pasty. It was disappointing. A nice spacious interior, but this is not good middle eastern food. I have tried many different chicken shawarmas and this did not taste like it at all. Very different compared to authentic places in Dearborn and around the metro Detroit area that I have been to and tried. The hummus was pretty good. The spicy hummus had a little kick to it. This place is great! Although it's not the best place I've had Mediterranean food, the atmosphere is one of the best (esp at night)! The food was fresh and delicious. I would strongly recommend everyone to try their sweet potato fries and their garlic chicken shawarma sandwich. Not only was the food good, but my waiter was also very attentive. He was super friendly and made sure I got my refills on water and asked if I needed anything without being overbearing. Overall, I would definitely come here again!
