With over 40 years in apartment renovation, I know a good contractor when I see one. Unless you're in escrow where tenting gives a property a "fresh start", local treatment is often the best choice but requires a high level of knowledge and careful execution. Lee Gillings, my Woody's Termite Control inspector, should teach classes for the termite industry. For example, did you know the approximate age of a contractors license can be seen in their number? Did you know that most "inaccessible areas" can actually be locally treated without tenting? Did you know that, a visual inspection is insufficient? Inspectors SHOULD poke, prod, knock on, and break exterior wood to inspect properly? Properly inspected and executed, local treatment can last much longer than tenting. After tenting, termites can come back the next day and you still have to repair tunnel/dry rot damage anyway! The expert father/son team of wood carpenters Ulyses and Jarred, treated and repaired my soffit/fascia board damage and painted without removing gutters. Awesome! Hoyong treated subterranean termites and soaked all exposed wood with Boracare, a sprayed foam product that makes exposed wood unpalatable to termites and too acidic for dry rot. I do not recommend this company for your escrow inspection. They came and found no evidence of active termites. 1 year later and I have at least 4 areas of termite activity confirmed by other termite inspectors and obvious with swarmers, frass, and visibly damaged wood. Larry came back when I asked about warranty coverage. He spent the majority of the visit dissecting the other report looking for things to refute or find redundant when the other report was mostly written to give an estimate for treatment. He only wanted to talk and had to be convinced to look around at the areas of concern. He looked only at areas pointed out in the other report. He noted there was no frass in an area where I had cleaned up the frass which was directly underneath termite holes. Other comments like this and throughout his explanation felt like he was being very defensive, making explanations and excuses, mentioning lawyers in the family. He concluded that he was not willing to cover any treatment under warranty. My realtor scheduled this company for our termite inspection. I do not recommend this company for your termite inspection. You should not feel safe, covered, or protected if they provide a clean report. Don't let your realtor pick this company. read more

I am in the process of buying a home and they were used for the inspection. I later called them with the report wanting to get the recommended treatments done that were shown on the inspection. I called and was told I would get a call back and never did. Called again and was told I would get a call back and never did. Called a third time and finally spoke to someone in charge who was informed me I would get an email from the inspector with an updated quote as many of the items on the initial inspection were being completely replaced and we didn't need to have those items treated. Once again no email 4 days later. I can't understand how you can manage to run a business like this. I shouldn't have to chase you guys down to help me. Absolutely do not trust Woody's OR any realtor that uses Woody's for termite clearance. Moved into a home that Woody's cleared (supplied by the selling broker). Less than two months into living here had a HUGE termite infestation (hundreds of swarmers flying around inside the house) and after inspection from two other termite companies determined that Woody's simply did not look in the attics and cleared the house. After more than 10 phone calls to Woody's over 3 months (they almost never return phone calls without repeated follow ups) and two follow up visits to the home they simply said too bad, we didn't see it. It started out simple enough. I'm trying to sell my house and Woody's was chosen by the buyer to do the inspection. I then contracted with them to do the treatment and repair. Their treatment guy came on time and provided the service efficiently. The guys who were supposed to do the wood repair were two hours late and no one EVER called to keep me informed. I repeatedly called the office and was reassured. They finally came and went without checking in with me. One of the owners came the next day and noticed they completely ignored one of the areas for repair. The owner made a fair effort to compensate me for the inconvenience. But then, they rescheduled for another day, first thing in the morning so that, "nothing would delay them". Guess what.. They were NO CALL, NO SHOW!!! I called the office the next day and, low and behold, NO ONE could explain their NO CALL, NO SHOW, or even offer an apology. They rescheduled again, when they finally finished the job. In preparing my home for sale, I was referred to Woody's for an Inspection Report and remediation. First, the young man who did the inspection (Pablo) was first rate! Thorough, professional, explained everything. He was on time, courteous, and seemed to care about the quality of his inspection. Quality is so important and Pablo nailed it. Second, I had 4 areas of dry rot that needed to be addressed. Although I probably could have contracted the work myself and saved a couple bucks, the crew that Woody's sent were very good - they addressed the 4 small areas from Pablo's inspection, professional and courteous. Don't let these people touch your house! We have had to pay thousands of dollars to fix the "repair" work they did. He bid very low on "repair" work after a termite inspection that was incomplete at best. They did the bare minimum to make it look like they repaired our roof damage. They left rotting boards all over, they cut beams that they shouldn't creating structural damage. Also very unprofessional when pushed to actually do the work they agreed to do. read more

We needed a termite inspection to re-finance our home.. Mark and his crew came to inspect and a couple of days later sent me his report. After a couple of other inspections, we chose Woody's for the price and the amount of work needed. The workers arrived on the date we had arranged , and accomplished about 75% of the necessary recommendations. When they finished, they left all the work areas neat abd clean. One of the crew, Hector, arrived the next day and by himself, completed the three doors that had to be replaced. He worked the entire day. His carpentry and painting was excelent. Two days later, Hector and a helper finshed the job. All the workers were courteous, and answered all my questions. Those in the office were also courteous and very accomodating. They were called out by the bank as part of the purchase of our home (the bank was the seller and needed to repair areas of the home prior to selling it). Woody's job was to replace wood (T&G planks) that was dry rotted and/or termite eaten. They pulled up the tar paper on the roof, replaced the planks, and put nails through where they shouldn't have - you can even see them in the ceiling! Their work was completely incompetent and resulted in several roof leaks. Judging from the other negative reviews, they bid jobs very low and then do the minimum amount of work to get out of there, even if the job is not finished. Avoid them like the plague. read more

Be careful! They had treated our house before we bought it. When we purchased the house the inspectors found termites, so we went back to Woody's since it was still within the warranty period for the work. After significant messing around they finally came out and it was a horrible experience. To begin with the owner (I believe) could not have been more condescending if he tried...let me tell you how it is little lady. He said there were no active termites only dead termites. Ok, I needed to take him at his word...and I couldn't get rid of him fast enough. Well, 3 months later we have very visible evidence of very active termites. Horrible, horrible, horrible on every level. While they should fix it under the warranty, I will go elsewhere because I don't trust them at all. read more

We had a very nice young man by the name of Pablo come to our home for an inspection. First off he was a man of integrity. Last week we set up a day and time. The day of he called a half hour prior as he said he would and arrived in that time frame. He greeted me with a friendly smile. Professional business cards, told me what he was going to do in the house and explained noises etc. he was extremely thorough. You could tell he really knew what he was doing and on top of that he seemed to really enjoy his job. He closed everything back up, looked the part, and just a genuinely friendly guy. I had the misfortune of my Realtor's choice for termite inspection on the sale of my house. They show up, find dry rot and say dry wood termites on outer perimeters of my house. I understand treating the dry rot, I have done that before. Woody's saw PayDay! Let's use an expensive heat treatment, which distress many aspects of your house and is not guaranteed to work. We were forced into tenting the whole house, which was upsetting for everyone including neighbors. The inspector on my property asked if they actually saw a termite or was it just dry rot. He said they just want the thousands of dollars they can charge. So Woody, money ill gotten does not spend well. read more

These guys are great! They came over to fix some termite damage in our doors. Our puppy got to the filler and ate! We were pretty worried and were able to get in touch with them after hours. They hadn't experienced something like that before and even asked if I had a vet to take her to. They told the the product they used and we called the ASPCA poison control center and were supposed to be charge a fee since it was an emergency. After telling the phone rep the product, and them speaking with their vet, everything was fine. The product they use actually had an account with the ASPCA and paid the emergency fee. We called back a week later to reschedule a new visit to fill the damage the puppy did. They came back, took care of it, and didn't require any additional payment! That's customer service! AWESOME! THE BEST! When we bought our house, we had Woody's do the inspection. They presented us with a comprehensive report as well as options as to how to address. Larry showed up the day of treatment, answered all of my questions and concerns, and told me I could call him anytime. He's kind, personable, and he truly cares about his customers and his work. Years later, just this last week, we discovered a hole in our windowsill and found a few bugs. I was immediately terrified as to how bad the problem was, especially because it was in or baby's play room. My wife and child were out of town, and I was worried I wouldn't be able to assess the issue for days. I called Larry on his cell and he immediately picked up. He remembered me, our house, and when I explained the situation, he said he would be over in a few hours. He and his guys treated the area, Larry then called and gave me a full update, and he assured me whatever the extent of the problem, he would handle it. They came back the next day to make sure the treatment had worked and then repaired the area. He has also scheduled to come back and do a complete inspection of the house. I was so incredibly grateful for his immediate response, his calm and assuring tone, and his comprehensive follow up. Cannot possibly recommend Larry and Woody's Termite any more highly.
