They were the pest control that did our original inspection for the previous owners and I had found the paperwork when we moved in (4 years ago). I called Orkin, another small company (can't remember) and Del Rio. Del Rio had polish of a big company but the care of a small one. It wasn't even a choice. Now, I call them whenever I have any issue and they come and take care of it. They are always fair in their pricing and I've never felt taken advantage of. They're here today because I found several termites in our newly remodeled kitchen, only on the counter only at night. Junior examined the entire exterior and interior and put my mind at ease and didn't charge me a thing or try to sell me on a monthly service. We recently purchased a house that Del Rio had performed work, including fixing our shower pan that was leaking. Unfortunately the shower pan was still leaking a few months after we moved in. I knew that they had worked on it, so I reached out to have them fix it. Without any hesitation they honored their work, they came out the same day to do another inspection and within a few days an amazing contractor show up, rip out the shower pan and redid everything. They only just completed a full tented fumigation service this week so there's really no way to say how effective it was/is. It was on our newly purchased home, built in 1925. What I can say is that they had good communication throughout the process and their crew did their best to avoid damaging our landscaping, plants, and trees during the process of installation. They were careful to work around things that were close to the house and also put padding under all the corners to protect the new paint on the stucco of our Spanish style home. Overall I'm happy with the customer service provided as this is our first home and it's all a bit scary having contractors come in to do work on something you just spent your life's savings on in this crazy Los Angeles market. There is a representative there named Michelle who is professional, but nearly every time I speak with Fernando, I am met with hostility and attitude. This is not customary in my experience with most companies. He really needs training on customer service interactions. The two star review is for him. I have used Del Rio for repairing the wood fascia boards, and the people they sent out were nice and helpful, and they completed the work. Unfortunately, my experience with the company is marred primarily by my dealings with Fernando. I have informed him that I find his attitude troubling given that I've never experienced this before with any company, and he then blamed me. He also has a habit of not wanting to confirm any prices he previously quoted, of not following up on quotes requested, of claiming that he never said something that he told me directly on a prior call, or that he can't remember what he told me because he has a lot of calls. TLDR: Initial quote will be very low. But they will have no intention of honoring it. I was buying a house and in open escrow period. My agent referred Del Rio saying they have the best prices in town and I got a quote that was more than half the price of other termite companies. Was a little suspicious but closed escrow anyways thinking the termite damage is minimal. A month later, I contacted Del Rio to start work but this time they quoted me something COMPLETELY different - $1k more than the initial quote. After many days of back and forth, phone calls from my agent, they finally told me they will honor the previous rate. I contacted them to start work and they completely went dark. No response to my email, no one picking up the calls, left messages with no returned calls. I realized they had no intentions of honoring the rates they quote you before close of escrow and this is just the type of SCAM these companies pull. If you're a buyer, BEWARE if your seller or agent shows you a quote for Del Rio. It's fake. read more

Our realtor had Del Rio tent our house for termites. I didn't look at reviews or shop around. My bad! They trampled my garden and left broken branches and dead plants behind. My back yard garden was my pride and joy. At first my husband wouldn't even let me look at it. To get it looking better for the new buyers, I ended up spending two days cutting back dead plants and staking bent over ones. Check reviews before using a company!! In July 2018, I called Del Rio Termite and Pest Control, to schedule an appointment to come out for a free termite inspection on a couple of properties. I was very impressed with Michelle, the receptionist. From the beginning and throughout the entire process, Michelle was extremely friendly and professional. She was very clear, helpful, and accommodating. Michelle scheduled Junior to come out to inspect my two residential properties. Junior did a very thorough inspection on each of the properties. As I followed him while he was inspecting the properties, Junior was explaining to me about what he was inspecting and also gave me a good understanding about termites and how to prevent, as much as possible, future infestations. Junior was very friendly and answered all my concerns and questions. The inspection reports were emailed to me a few days later. The reports were clear, easy-to-understand, and were broken down by options and the cost for each. Jesse was the individual who did the spraying on both of the properties. Just like the others, Jesses was very easy to talk to, and was also very accommodating. Jesse did very good work and cleaned up every bit of trash or debris. He also gave me very good advice and was super polite. Overall, I am very happy with Del Rio from beginning to end! Customer service was awesome and the prices were very reasonable. Find another fumigation company. Our experience with Del Rio was poor. They offer a free inspection, but I would rather pay for an inspection that I believed had an honest report than a "free" inspection that I suspect calls for full tenting every time. They did not clean up after themselves nor reassemble drain pipes they had moved out of the way. They also overcharged for some simple carpentry work and made us get signatures from the neighbors for a tent they never put up on an auxiliary building. We started hearing the scratching of claws attached to itty bitty feet in our attic. This brought to mind the vehicle that transported the Black Death of the Middle Ages throughout Europe. Endeavoring to avoid contact with the likely culprit squatting in our attic, Rattus norvegicus, we asked around and were referred to Del Rio Pest Control. I then checked Yelp. There were a lot of positive reviews but also some bad ones. I chose to ignore the bad ones and called them. My mistake. Yelpers, pay close attention to negative reviews if there are more than a very small percentage of them for a particular business. They are throwing up a caution sign for you. Anyway, back to our story. The representatives came out to our house and verified that we had uninvited house guests. They outlined a process where they would seal all the ports of entry, trap the interlopers, and continue surveillance of the house for the four weeks of the contract. We signed up. They initially inspected all areas of the perimeter of the structure sealing all the openings they found. They also placed multiple traps in the attic and basement inviting all of our guests to leave. They arranged to come back weekly to check the traps, or more often as necessary if we detected an occupied trap. Everything seemed to be going fine. Rats exited regularly which seemed encouraging. However, at the end of the contract period they were still trapping a disconcerting number of rats in our attic. They again searched for potential entry points and asked for additional fees to cover more time for them to eradicate our infestation. This was frustrating but we signed on. The technicians were always nice and friendly. They worked hard to retrieve any occupied traps and set new ones when they came out. An annoyance that occured a couple of times was scheduling their service for specific times then they would arrive earlier than the scheduled time. They would subsequently call, telling me that they were at the house wondering where I was. On these occasions I was on my way and they would wait for me to arrive. There was one occasion though, when I scheduled a specific time and also called back a day or two prior to confirm. The technicians arrived at a completely different time and left when no one was there. After I arrived at the scheduled time the office professed to be unaware of my confirmation and did not seem to be concerned about the disruption of my day that this had caused. No one could come out to the house that day because of this mistake. Each of the times that I scheduled a return visit for the technicians I had to take time off from work to be available for them to do their work. This inefficiency in their scheduling process was inordinately frustrating. The final straw was completely missing an appointment despite my confirming phone call with their scheduler a day or two prior. Now we were about six weeks into our commitment with Del Rio and they were still pulling rats out of our attic seemingly incapable of finding and sealing the passage that was allowing them to still get in. There is no guarantee on their work and so this cycle seemed to be one that was going to stretch out for an undefined period of time at a significant cost, with ongoing scheduling hassles, and little hope of eliminating our problem. Finally, reaching the limit of my patience, I did what I had originally hoped they would do to our rats, I terminated our relationship with Del Rio Pest Control. I will now have to find a committed and capable company to actually fix the problem. read more

Great service and very professional! My friend was out of town and needed help with a rodent problem at her condo. The last pest guy she called flaked out. And one of the national pest companies she looked at had spotty reviews, so we called Del Rio based on the recommendation of a top realtor in the area. Del Rio came with two guys who were very knowledgeable about pest control. They arrived in a nice clean truck with all of their equipment ready. They inspected the condo to look for rodent droppings and set traps for us. They told us that mice and rats are pretty smart, so the traps need to be set in dark locations and hidden from view so that rodents won't avoid them. They corrected the traps that the last company did incorrectly. They also sealed openings in the garage and in the kitchen for my friend using mesh wire. They were very thorough and even helped us take a look around the condo and up in the attic. As part of their service, they will come back after the initial visit to check on the traps. read more

My landlord used this business for termite extermintaion and I was given a a two hour window for when they were supposed to show up on the day of the tenting. Fortuntately for me they didn't arrive during that window and eventually rolled up over half an hour late. I say fortunately for me because I was having difficulty getting my cat into the pet carrier... When they finally showed up (no apology for being late), I was already feeling quite distressed knowing I had to vacate the property and was running out of time. I asked the Del Rio team on site how long I had to get my cat safely out of the building and the man replied, "You have 30 minutes or your cat dies." In no world is that an acceptable answer; it's unprofessional, unhelpful and unecessary. If you want zero customer service and a cheap deal then this might work for you, but if you value attention to detail and compassion during a chaotic time, go somewhere else. read more

Del Rio: 1. Cited treatment for nonexistent subterranean termites costing approximately $500 in my first home. The lack of subterranean termites was verified by my own examination and a subsequent inspection by another termite company. 2. Performed a grossly inadequate inspection of my second property which missed several clear and obvious issues including wood stair supports buried directly in the dirt, a leaking shower and additional termite issues in visible and accessible areas. 3. Responded defensively to clear evidence of a substandard initial inspection in the second home and did not use the opportunity to reinspect the property properly. Any request by me to attend to missed issues with the second house were met with unreturned phone calls or email or a dismissive/defensive attitude. We've had an exterminator come out yearly in June and destroy the colonies without an ant returning for a whole year, every year for about 8 years. Same house. Same thing. Always successful. This year Del Rio came out. They came out THREE TIMES. They spray what they call "Wisdom", "the most powerful chemical we have". Is it toxic? "No." Can you spray inside then? "No. It's not good for you. If we spray inside you or your kid could get sick." So then it's toxic? "No." Um, ok, can we come outside after you spray? "Yes, but don't walk in it, and if you do go wash up." ... ... ? Ok fine. Does it kill the colony, or just the ants that touch it? Because this is your 3rd time here and the last 2 times did nothing. "Yes, when the ants touch it, and then touch each other it kills them." So.. no? It doesn't kill the colony because it's not a bait, it's a topical thing, like the formula that dehydrates ants by scraping their exoskeletons? "It kills the colony." "And we're using a stronger version of it this time." Riiiight.... Great answer. 2-3 days later: the exact same ant infestation and trails remain. ...still. DO NOT USE THESE GUYS, it is a waste of money. Call someone else and ensure over the phone, that the formula is an ant BAIT, of the food-stuff variety, that kills the queen. Or don't waste your money. Del Rio does not carry such a chemical, "safe" or "not". (Why 2 stars? Well they did show up 3 times. Give credit where credit is due. ...but probably just to collect money while they spray sugar water on my house.) read more

Del Rio performed a termite inspection for the house we were selling and we hired them to perform the repairs. The work was ok but it was very frustrating trying to communicate and schedule with them. I emailed the work authorization to the email listed on their website and received no response. On the day they were scheduled to perform the work, they called saying they had an emergency of some kind and would come the following day. That's fine, things happen...but then they showed up as scheduled anyway (huh? what emergency?). The workers didn't finish the job the first day and said they would return the second day. The second day rolls around and nobody shows up. I called the office and was told they would come the following day. They did show up on the third day and finish the work, but you might as well use a magic 8 ball to determine if they will show up when they say they will. read more

After having them out four different times to fix fascia boards and repair termite damage the pictures show what kind of work I am still left with. This was done about two months ago. After each time they have attempted to fix it, it ends up looking the same after only two weeks. It has never looked good since we purchased the house in May 2016. We were told by the seller that the work was done by del rio and it should be warrantied. They have honored the warranty to their credit but only after multiple unreturned calls, two no show appointments from which I was told they had car trouble (both times?? Really?)...both times they never contacted me to let me know they had car trouble and instead I wasted a day off work. Then each time I am left with the "repairs" seen in the pictures. It's a nightmare to buy service from this company. During the termite control, workers carelessly damaged my property and then did a botched, ugly repair. But that's not all the bad things... In a storm, my heavy chimney cap fell out in the street (Thank god, no people injured). The cap installer reminded me if I recently did termite control. He said they probably took it out in the control and did not install it correctly. I believe they just put the heavy cap back on the top and never bothered to fasten it. I don't want to mention their response to your complaints after they received the money. You can guess. read more
