Definitely not perfect, but Rachel was a great teacher!!

Woolyn and Rachel are awesome! I took a private crochet class Saturday with Rachel and it was the perfect rainy day to sit down in a chill, cozy environment, listen to the incoming shoppers' stories of what they love to create and why, and learn a new skill that might have dropped off in my family in my generation. Rachel was incredibly patient and explained the steps in a way that I could grasp easily, as was not the case in the previous YouTube videos I had tried. She helped me choose yarn that best suited my project and I can't wait to go back for more colors. I just finished my first pot holder- my goal- and while I still need to practice, I did it! Definitely check out Woolyn, Rachel is the best!

I popped in the next day and Rachel sat down with me, fixed my project and explained what went wrong.

So I found this cute spot on yelp. Ever since I was younger I wanted to learn design and how to…read moremake my own clothes but became a nurse instead. Now that I'm all settled I decided to try the Intro to Sewing class ($80: supplies included) here & I am SO glad I did!! Diana Rupp, the owner was absolutely amazing. She was so friendly and open! I showed up there with absolutely no knowledge of sewing or how to work a sewing machine. But if you come with interest and an excitement to learn, you'll enjoy it. She gave us hand outs with everything we needed to know, took us through all supplies for basic sewing, taught us the parts of the sewing machine and how to thread a sewing machine. I didn't even know there was a whole process even before beginning to use one?! Lol. She went at our pace, helped us each time we made a mistake, all while having a regular conversation. None of us ever felt left behind or stressed. I was beyond excited when the class was finished. I bought some supplies from her store and even Diana's sewing book (which I highly recommend if you're dedicated). I can't wait to practice on this new hobby and make it my own! They also have tons of other classes available if you want to learn other techniques. Already eyeing the next class I'll be taking: embroidery :)) Love love loved my experience!

If you're like me and had zero to no experience with sewing, this is the perfect class for you. She goes over threading step by step and gives you some great techniques and advice to take home with you so that you can practice. The classes are very small, so if you have questions, she's available. The two hours flew by. I left the class feeling very confident in what I learned (a little too confident, telling people I can take on those mofos on Project Runway!) I can't wait to take another class.

This adorable storefront contains art of all mediums -- accessories, garments, teas, pottery, and more. Whimsical NYC fruit magnets? Check. Stickers of Druid woodland cats? Absolutely. The PERFECT holiday cards for friends and loved ones? Yup. And it's surprisingly affordable -- there were some incredible prints in (so glad to see the artists' names were clearly labeled!) for $15-$20. There's so much local love here and so much awesome AAPI creative energy. I know I'll be back. Thank you to Anthony, who was so sweet (and rocking one of their great mushroom shirts) while I spent approximately a million years browsing the shop. A local gem!

I love this store…read more I visited this wonderful store a few months ago. The female employee, who was seated by the front door, was sweet and incredibly welcoming. It's a tiny shop but it's jam packed full of all sorts of interesting novelty and artisanal products. Some of the things I saw were beautiful hand made pottery, jewelry, key chains, stickers, paper products such as postcards, and zines. There were a few handbags and clothing on a rack outside the shop as well. I believe the inventory changes every few months. I can't wait to go back to see what new products they'll have available.
