Attended an Ashland Folk Festival show at Fry Family farm, we didn't eat dinner before because we were excited to try Word on the Street's tacos. We (and many others) were stupid enough to stand in line for 2.5 hours. We ended up missing a majority of the show, and at some point I left my husband in line so I could catch a few songs. My husband was only able to catch the last three and the people who were in line behind us literally got back in time for the encore song, when the show was over there were still people waiting for food... There seemed to be absolutely no urgency from the truck staff to speed things up or update folks in line on the wait times. We literally debated leaving, eating, and coming back and I really wish we would have. Highly recommend skipping this truck if they're going to be at any kind of event, I'm sure they're wait time isn't as long when they're just parked somewhere on a Thursday. We've been to a number of shows at Fry Family Farm and never had this issue with the other trucks that were there. They seriously need to take lessons from other trucks on efficiency. You can't go wrong with these tacos. They were spectacular... fresh, complex, and cooked perfectly! You savor every taste he mixes into the taco. I highly recommend the Seared Ahi if you like wasabi! Having read all the amazing reviews I decided to check this place out. Not only was I impressed by the fact there were so many options no matter what your dietary restrictions, I have a fair few, but the owner was also very friendly. I ordered the Sushi Style Ahi taco and all I can say is WOW!! The first bite of the taco gave me chills. This work of art was not only picture worthy, but it was one of the most amazing things I've ever eaten. I would absolutely recommend this place to ANYONE WITH TASTE BUDS! We'd heard many good things about the tacos here and eagerly stopped by while in downtown Medford. I opted for a mahi taco and a sockeye salmon taco, while my husband went with a seared ahi taco and Maine lobster + Oregon shrimp taco. Not only was the food absolutely beautiful in presentation, the flavors were robust in all the best ways. The Steelhead had a lovely composition and was seasoned with just enough spice to excite the palate. I loved its pairing with the purple cabbage and corn tortilla. The presentation is beautiful. Eric also recommended the sparkling Topo Chico from Monterey, Mexico. The mineral content of the Topo Chico was refreshing and hydrating; especially on a hot summer day. The Topo Chico a must have! Popped by after work & had a hankering for seafood. Eric, who runs the food truck, always has something amazing up his sleeve & today was no exception! The calamari taco- for $7- is quite large compared to most of the other tacos he sells, making it a decent bang for the buck! The calamari itself packs a punch, both in flavor & quantity, has a nice crunch overall, & goes surprisingly well with a light ring of ketchup (acts similar to cocktail sauce- a little sweet/acid with the savory salt). The Thai coconut shrimp- for $7- also packs a punch- but is a horse of a different color. Literally- the coconut is almost roasted its natural sweetness comes out the darker the color, it's graced with black sesame seeds, a generous amount of sweet chili sauce & has a gnarly crunch overall. Both are topped with his signature pickled onions, red cabbage & spicy aioli- definitely a crowd pleaser! Not too shabby for $14! Ok... so I feel pretty bad about this rating but I will explain why i feel this the food deserves it. I almost gave a two star but because the owner is nice, the idea and concept is on point and the food is my only problem I bumped it up. I was really excited to try this truck. I'm a huge Mariscos fan and the tacos looked pretty good here. I tried the Pulpo and the Salmon taco. First complaint: Over seasoned. The salmon was seasoned in a very salty/cumin seasoning mix that just stripped the flavor from the fish. Second complaint: The pulpo was way overcooked and made for a rubber taco. I ended up throwing the taco away cause it was inedible. Also the taco seemed like it contained the same ingredients as the salmon taco so the only difference was the protein which in my eyes lacks some creativity. Final complain: Price. I felt the price was matched with the quality of food. If I'm gonna pay $5 for a taco, it better be the best taco ever. Coming from San Diego and being spoiled with Mariscos food trucks, I'm used to paying $1 for the best fish taco you can get. And $2.50 for an amazing marlin taco.
