Do not join this gym if you ever think you are going to cancel. I cancelled during the pandemic and they would not give me money back. I just completed my first year and average about 5 visits a week, mostly mornings. Pros: Convenience. It is next to my home and open 24 hours a day which is the only reason I joined. The General Manager is really nice and helpful any time I have spoken with her. Cons: It's dirty, they only clean twice a week. I have only seen the cleaners (who are very nice and outsourced) while I am working out. Let's just call it a surface clean... A lot of early morning members do not clean anything after they use it which is somewhat disgusting. There is a member who constantly hacks on the machine next to you without covering their mouth with the free provided (nasty) face cloth size towels. He literally hacks out onto the machine (and you). Other members saw my disgust and told me he's been doing this for a long time and if you confront him he will get nasty. This morning the place was a disaster. No clean towels, dirty towels all over the floor and equipment, and wmpty water bottles scattered. I actually wish it were nicer because it is so convenient and I like the staff I've met and people as well. 3 stars was for convenience, the rest is pretty deplorable read more

I have been a member for a year and have been clean and quiet and they are asking almost 300$ for me to cancel my membership because i am moving to a completely different part of the state where it is not convenient at all. DO NOT JOIN ANYTIME FITNESS Buyer beware!!!!! When it comes to money this company will never reimburse even if they know they owe it! Also do you really want to join a place that will not resolve a problem even if all parties agree it's not the member's fault. My daughter joined and went in between the Ashland and Framingham locations. Their billing company gives the monthly membership to the site the member uses the most. For some bookkeeping reason my daughter was double charged the $39 monthly membership from both locations for 12 out of 14 months. Neither site wants to reimburse their portion of the profit so she asked until they can sort it out to stop charging her as she's already over paid by almost $500 (including dbl charges for annual fees). They agreed. They actually immediately turned off her key service ability. This happened in May and now in July (3 months with nobody willing to return any calls or resolve this in any way) we just received a collection notice that's going to go against her credit. And it's for double monthly billing still!!!! Each site manager agreed we were overcharged as does the billing company but the only person that can put a request to refund money are the owners of which neither site owner is willing to contact us no matter how many messages or emails we have left. This was my daughter's first major monthly subscription and clearly she didn't watch her checking account closely but I don't think many 20 year olds do. And you would hope a company is decent and does the right thing and when mistakes happen, and especially if they are the ones that did the error, to react positively and fix it. I have since read other comments posted and noticed this pattern in regards to anything financial- it takes months/years to fight with better business bureau, the state attorney general's office and small business claims court. Beware they are all nice when taking your money but when a problem arises if a company isn't willing to fix it, and then on top makes it worse by moving it to a collection agency when they still have almost an extra $500 of our money is unfathomable!!! Anytime Fitness in Ashland, MA is a great gym. Whatever time of day or evening that I arrive, the gym is always spotless clean. It's a pleasure to see manager Clara when I walk in the door! Clara always greets everyone by name throughout the gym, and is extremely helpful when I need a printout of my billing history or if I have a question about how to properly use the equipment. Even with the Covid protocols, I always feel very safe, because the gym and bathrooms are always clean. Terrific location right near the grocery store and drugstore, so it's convenient to pop in for a 30 minute workout while I am running errands. I'm noticing most of the bad reviews seem to refer to payment issues and memberships changes. While I'll admit I've run into a some odd payment issues once or twice, every time it was quickly addressed and I was satisfied with managements response. Management has even gone out of its way on a few occasions to try and save me money and adjust training packages to better fit my schedule. This location has been a positive experience for me so far, consistently clean and comfortable during my visits, with a friendly staff that always greets me. If you choose to take advantage of the personal training this location offers I would highly recommend Lucas, been working with him for several months weekly and am very satisfied with his training style and friendly attitude. The gym itself has a decent array of equipment available, they just recently updated with a new bench and stair master. Overall a good location I would recommend, can get busy at the right times of day but never crowds as large I've experienced at a Planet Fitness. read more

I just recently joined this gym and Clara is absolutely wonderful. She was so welcoming and awesome to talk to as I've been wanted to join a gym for so long. The facility is clean and there is a lot of new equipment to use. The 24/7 access is an amazing concept and is something to definitely check out if you have a busy schedule like myself. It's usually never really busy which I like but there are definitely peak times that you eventually catch onto, but even during them it's not super crowded. I worked for this gym recently and am fighting to get my last pay check. The owner Anderson is upset that I quit without give a 2 weeks notice. But who gives a 2weeks notice when you are supposed to be getting paid 12 half hr and find out he is only giving you 8 half hr. This trainers and managment is good but the ownership is awful. I have been to many gyms over the years but Anytime Fitness, especially with their kind, supportive, and friendly staff makes me feel like the achievement of my fitness goals are attainable with work and commitment. Clara is not only very sweet but also well informed and savvy. With her advice we (I say we because we have a family membership) are looking into reimbursement benefits from our family health insurance for getting fit. One of the young trainers did reach out within a day to set up a fitness evaluation and a free session with membership, which is great! One of my favorite things there is the hydro bed! Nothing like a massage in the hydro bed after a workout! The facility is clean and well stocked with towels and spay bottles for keeping machines clean and ready for the next user. Initially, this gym seems like a great deal. It's inexpensive if you sign up around the New Year's time. However, dealing with editing or canceling your gym membership is a nightmare. I have tried contacting this group for several months without a resolution yet. The gym manager, Clara, is very nice and welcoming when you first sign up. But, as soon as you want to leave, this initial positive impression, unfortunately, is not maintained. It seems as though Clara does not want any memberships canceled even though she uses the external company's contact as a scapegoat. I joined because of the easy access, even though they only have limited equipment. The gym is always kept very clean, and the machines are usually in good working order. The owner and staff seemed friendly and welcoming...but agreements never really worked out the way they promised. When I took a few months break, I ended up being charged two of the three months. I was told I'd get an extra month free for bringing in a new member, but somehow they don't have a record of that. Cancelling my membership brought its own hidden charges.. You get what you pay for. There is no trial period - even if you decide against it a week after purchasing the membership, you need to pay the $150.00 cancellation fee - plus an additional month of membership... because you are billed a month ahead - but that doesn't mean that you can use the gym for that month that you are paying for it. Most of the TVs on the treadmills only have a few channels that work - and they are all different channels, you never know what you are going to get. The billing part is a scam - lots of hidden fees. When I went for the tour they said "there's a fridge with water here - the tanning here; it's included in your package, blah blah blah." One day I didn't bring a water and said "thank goodness, they have it here" - it's not really free, it's $1.00 - i don't bring money with me to the gym. I tried the tanning, you need your key to turn it on. I asked why my key doesn't work (after getting all ready, cleaning the bed, etc.) and then they said they would fix it. When it was 'fixed' I got in the room, got ready, cleaned the bed - it still didn't work. I had to put all my workout gear back on and said "Forget it!". Again, you get what you pay for. The first time I went to this gym was last Friday since the pandemic hit. I always enjoyed going to an Anytime Fitness The strange part to this Ashland one is that you need to swipe your key sob twice. Any of the other gyms I went to, you only had to swipe your sob once Then when you walk into this gym, there is no office to talk to the owner or the manager of the gym. I have not seen any management while I was working out I spoke to another manager from another location and they told me there should be an office or a member that greets the members. Great gym, fair price, has all the machines and equipment most would need to get a full workout. A lot of complaints on here regarding contracts and billing. Not sure what the fuss is about but if you sign a 2 year contract with a limited cancellation policy, that is exactly what you get. Not much more to say about the club except there are a lot more better gyms with equipment that is reliable and abundant. The gym is close to my home and very convenient. I really enjoy the time with my Trainer - Janice. She really keeps an eye on me as I exercise to ensure I am doing it correctly and I don't hurt myself. I also like the fact that she checks in every week to confirm our appointment and she is always on time. She also makes sure to have me stretch after which is very important. She also provides a lot of variety in the exercises - so even though we might be working the same muscles - she might have you do a different exercise. read more

I moved into the area about 2 years ago and was looking for a gym that fit my schedule. I tried one gym but the times that they were open and closed were inconvenient. I then decided to do the 1 week trial with Anytime Fitness and decided this was the best for me. I worked in downtown Boston and have 2 small children. So my workout was either early in the morning from 4:00 - 5:00 am or late at night from 6:30 - 7:30 pm. Here are some other reasons why I found this gym to be a perfect for me: 1. It's always open! Holidays, weekends, any hour of the day. You're not at the mercy of waiting for someone to open the gym or kick you out because they're closing for the day. 2. During the prime hours, there are a number of machines that are still available to use. You'll never have to wait in line to use the treadmill like at other gyms. 3. The equipment is pretty up to date and in good shape. My biggest thing is the tread mill. At another gym in Ashland, I used the treadmill, and there flat felt like running on an incline the whole time. 4. It's pretty clean. Some gyms can be disgustingly gross because cleaning is often overlooked. But they always have sprays available to clean the equipment and towels to wipe them down. The bathrooms are decent. 5. Space. It's a pretty big gym. They have a private area towards the back where you can workout without the whole gym around you. Or you can use the workout room which has bikes and videos that you can download to work out to. They have a few weight areas and of course the cardio areas. 6. The best thing for me is the location. It's less than 5 minutes from my house. It's next to Shaw's if I need to pick-up last minute grocery items or the Dollar Store. There is a dry cleaners a few stores down and a Thai restaurant. I would have to say that the one con thing for people, would be that they don't offer classes throughout the day but for someone who works out independently, it's perfect. They recently started offering a daily class which possibly they may be expanding. read more

Beware that this company (this specific franchise owner) will hold you to every dollar of his local cancellation policy, if you are daring enough to sign up to a 2-year contract. That is what happened for my family (one adult and two children). A change in work hours made it impossible for mom to get to and bring teens to gym. After 8 months of use, 4 months of no visits, attempts made to cancel membership and pay 'just' the ~$150 corporate cancellation charge. Local ownership demanded payment of 70% of remaining contract. So please make sure you really, really love this gym and the people that run it before committing to a 2-year contract (could add further color here, but choosing to stick to simple facts). read more

After six years, I recently cancelled my membership since I was moving. Overall, it was a good experience. It wasn't too big and wasn't too small. There was just enough equipment for everyone and I rarely had to wait for the weights. The staff were very friendly and professional and the other members were generally respectful (not a lot of grunting). Definitely can't beat the hours! It was a good gym at first but beware if you want to cancel your membership, it's a nightmare! They continued to charge me even after I decided to cancel due to Covid-19. I recently received a letter in the mail saying I have overdue fees despite contacting both the manager and my bank to cancel the charges. The manager said that in order to cancel membership you have to sign a form; I asked if that could be done electronically but she said no, you have to come in and do it. Well I don't feel comfortable going into a gym during a pandemic; I see people through the window working out not wearing masks. Now I know why they want you to come in, they want to try to encourage you to stay. The manager said the owner had extended the contract for the three and a half months they were closed due to Covid, and decided to charge people for an additional for three months; I had asked for the owner's name and Clara said that she's not supposed to give out that information. I find that kind of strange and suspicious. I will be looking into other gyms, preferably much cheaper. read more

I am going to a lawyer to consult about suing them over their billing practices. When I joined, I paid the full annual cost upfront on my Amex. They claim I checked the "automatic renewal" box on my sign up form (maybe I did) so they felt that gave them a right to FINANCE another year's membership. I NEVER gave them permission to get financing on my behalf, but now my credit card is getting monthly bills from a finance company, ABC Financial, who refuses to stop billing my Amex. No one is sending me a statement, so I have no idea how much interest I am paying to this finance company, if any. If they had billed another year "up front" to my Amex, maybe their "autorenewal" argument would stand up, but they do not have any permission from me for a monthly charge. They refuse to cancel or stop any of this unless I come in and sign a form...but no one is ever there. They don't answer the phone, ever. I have only been getting their voice mail when I call. I have been trying to cancel since August. The quality of the gym and the friendliness of the staff isn't relevent when you feel they have abused your trust and mis-used the fact that you gave them your credit card number. I'm not sure if I am going to a lawyer first, filing a complaint with the Ashland police or going to the state Atty General, but one of these is my next stop! read more
