I left a scathing review in February of this year and deservedly so. But now, what a difference!! The gym is apparently now under new ownership and the new general manger has led a stunning turn around to include new and professional staff, repaired equipment, new equipment, fitness classes, and significantly improved cleanliness. Since Zane left and new management took over the place will be lucky to stay open. Cleaning the place has slipped the kids who manage just sit in the office. Cleaning bottles leak and today a black kid was working out shirtless. This is the beginning of a down hill trend. I been a member to this gym since Steve was the owner day one it was clean no issues Now the new owner dont seem to take pride in this place homeless people are sneeking in at night sleeping in the massage chair the trash cans are full over the top the water fountain is always broke dust from the AC is on the floor the bathrooms are dirty i try to put my gym bag in the locker theres opened food in there theres trash on the floor and stuffed in the cup holders also the door has been a constant issue it wont lock part of the reason people are getting in TODAY 5 of us couldnt get in cause the door wont open which was a problem yesterday should of been fixed the day of broken i have messaged the owner no response also stopped in to talk to the managers these problems are still there the way this place as of now i dont recommend to no one! read more

Critical: Poor Communication, unprofessional in manner, I had a heck of a time getting my money back...finally had to call Discover. Below is a re-post of my recent Google review about our family's experiences with Steve Ayers and his "business model" at Workout Anytime in Port Orange. I posted it after I made a review of numerous other complaints made about this gym on various review platforms and they all reflect very similar issues. It's hard to get one's money back. I finally had to call Discover and dispute charges and ask that no further charges be made to my credit card account. Apparently there is consensus among customers seeking redress of concerns about money, service etc. Interactions with the owner and his family are always acrimonious. Caveat emptor friends. Google review: Since this gym is no longer a 24/7/365 gym, which is what we contracted for and need due to our schedule, we requested a prorated refund of our annual dues and any and all charges made for services not rendered. Lexi, Stacy and Steve Ayers all refused to give us our money back in a series of unprofessional phone calls and emails. Steve hung up on my husband at the end of their final phone contact. Steve charged us on 3-30-20 for April on the card they had on record. Refused to refund that too. The gym was completely closed during that period. They also lied about their ability to return to 24/7 status blaming it on DeSantis and a government ruling. Many gyms are 24/7 and have been, including the one we just joined. So a blatant falsehood. My husband and I, 68 and 72 respectively, feel very badly treated by Steve Ayers. We think Steve should have stuck with hustling cheap tires and oil changes in Ormond Beach. One of his past failed businesses. Steve also falsely accused my husband, Mike Gardner, of "cussing out his wife" whom Mike does not know, would not recognize and did not "cuss out" and Mike has never "cussed out" anyone at that gym. We were in business a long time. Civility and courtesy were always our policies and we always took care of the customer. Leaving a customer unhappy with your company is a poor business tactic and a rotten long term strategy. It always catches up with you. We never charged a customer for services not rendered and we worked mostly off referrals due to our excellent reputation as a reliable and trustworthy vendor for over 25 years in Volusia County. I resent these sharp business practices employed by Steve Ayers and his family members. This was an easy situation to resolve but for whatever absurd reason these folks chose to keep our money and treat us badly. I plan to tell everyone I can to avoid Steve, Stacy and Lexi Ayers in any business setting. read more

As a business owne truly this gym is a disappointment. With so much potential in it but with the lack of people that want to growth. Workout Anytime Fitness sent me two reviews in which both if them i give my opinion in it. The Manager Ruswell Miller response was " you had two reviews and in both of them your are talking negative about the place, let me know so i can cancel your membership ". Do you thinki this is professional or there are people only working for the money ? How many personal trainers i haven seen doing wrong techniques, movements and not even greeting customers in the place, meaning one thing " Here for the money". When you seek a review don't expect to be every day to be wonderful and if there is some concerns with your clients hear them out instead of throwing them away like Ruswell Miller did to me. Im going to get this over the CEO and Regional Manager. I think this type of behavior is bad for a company. If you are seeking for a gym THIS ONE IS NOT THE RIGHT ONE FOR YOU! Dont waste your money and sweat because no one cares about it. Have seen so many people almost injuring them selfs and not even ine had take action of it. My best advice TRAIN this people not only in lifting weights, but how to attend the needs, how to be courteous to the clients and how to perform the priper techniques for each thoe of clients. Goodluck trying to cancel your membership. I hadn't gone in months and tried to cancel my membership multiple times. Then I see a notice about a collection that I owed to them. I would not recommend signing up to this gym. They will keep charging your card even though you hadn't gone or used their facility. And when you try to cancel they give you a hard time and keep charging you. Still trying to get me to pay them money from over 5 years ago, unreal. read more

If it was possible to give this gym (really it's ownership and management) a zero star rating I would do so. Buyer beware--it's easy to join but very hard to terminate your membership. I joined because it was a 24/7 365 gym and now it is not, even after the "Covid restrictions" have been lifted. When I asked for a cancellation, refund, and pro-ration of my annual dues because the club was no longer willing to provide the services I contracted for, I was told via email and telephone communications with Lexi, Stacy and Steve Ayers that NO refund would be made. In fact, cancellations, unlike the process of signing up, have to be handled by a third-party billing company (ABC Workout Anytime) where Steve Ayers is also a principal. After initiating a dispute through my credit card company I found out that my payments for gym membership had actually been made on behalf of Mountain Home Athletic Club, a fitness center in Arkansas!? What's up with this, Stevie? As a long-term resident of the Volusia/Flagler area, since 1966, I have worked out at many area gyms (including the old Stillman's Nautilus, Beach Street Gym and Daytona Gym for you other old-timers) and have never met such arrogant, rude and disrespectful owners/managers as at Workout Anytime. I was one of the first members to sign up when the sales office first opened. I met the Ayers family. Being brand new to the state and area I knew very few people here. I am proud to call them my family now( even though Im refered to as crazy cousin or uncle eddie). You will read reviews here and on other sites that said it took forever to open. It was actually only one month longer than planned. Thank the city of Port Orange and their permit process. During the whole time there were altmost daily updates via social media , emails and texts. If you missed them you probably didnt have a pulse that day. So all those complaints were basically false. Some have complained about cancellation policy. I have my paperwork and it clearly states the same thing thats verbally told to you. Its easy to use. Dont know why anyone would want to but stuff does happen. So those bad reviews are without merit. There is a bad review here about the after hour door policy. Every new member is walked outside and shown the key system. It is explained both inside and outside each member must swipe their key, enter the gym and close door behind them. Then next member does the same. It must be your key as there is a camera facing you as you enter. Folks this is for all our safety. Follow the rules please. Its not hard. You will see a review on here from a lady bitching she was yelled at. Heres the truth as I was there. The lady and her male friend tied up a cable machine for 45 mins that night. They d doa set. Then BS and text on their phones for 10 mins. This went on for 45 mins straight. We are a group of 20 or so regulars here nightly. We range in age for high school to our 70s. Some of us are singles, some couples and several small groups. We are all easy going and mellow. We have a rythm and respect for ourselfs, the gym and other gym members. We all get our workouts in everynight and manage to smile and laugh with each other. As a new member you will be more than welcome to get in your grunts and groans with us. All we ask is leave your problems and attitudes at the door. This area isnt big and there are only a few gyms. If you have caused problems at other gyms it will follow you. In the case of this bad reviewer her male friend was well known. He was only at this gym for two days when he started up bad mouthing the staff and equipment. He has a huge ego and to his credit he does have size. But there are bigger men and women members here that dont disrupt other members. It was a relief to see the ownership step up quickly. Now for all the great stuff. This is a brand new gym. It has equipment for everyone. Dumbells to 100 lbs. Multiple function benches. Smith machine. Squat racks. Cross fit equipment. Barbells. More than enough plates from 2.5 to 45 lbs. Free weightbplate machines. Plate and pin machines. Treadmills , stair climbers , elipticals and 3 styles of bikes(2 virtual reality ones). Tanning lay down and stand up. Hydro massage. Laser measuring to track your progress. The staff couldnt be more friendly and they know your name before you even swipe your card. Lexi and Issabella aka Laverne and Shirley keep the place flowing and spotless during the busiest time of the day. Yet always seem to find time to chat and laugh with every member. If you are a lady and dislike being hit on at a gym, this is the place for you. As I said the membership has grown solidly together since opening. We have welcomed the new members. We show respect for each other. Help and encourage each other. Respect the members who wish to work out solo . Come check out this hidden oasis. If you come at night and want to ask questions, just ask to speak to me or some of the other regulars. We will show you how the best gym in town runs. To the Ayers family. I say congrats. I am concerned that this gym is headed in the wrong direction. I can say they have one of the nicest and cleanest gyms in the Port Orange and South Daytona area. Some of the issues are that the place is headed toward needing a serious deep cleaning and a new interior paint job. When it comes to equipment, several machines need new pads, pedals, subscriptions, or screws. The water machines are poor with one totally broken and the other poor in quality. The door lock is in need of repair or total replacement. The front door area floods every rain and floods the walkway out front. Seriously, the place needs some work done & equipment repaired. Below are a few images of issues with the TV bike that has a broken pedal and has no subscription. The leg lift needs a new pad and is totally scratching the backs of my legs. The fat measurement machine is faulty and not properly operated or maintained. It was off by over 20lbs! I was told that everything else was right. That is not true and the website for this equipment claims that the test is worthless if the thing scales you wrong. I think you never upgraded or updated the equipment like that bike subscription thing. The entire place needs a paint job and this along with the carpet edge (very dirty) is in total disrepair. Check all equipment for the proper amount of screws. I found a bench missing screws and the next day it had just been rigged to work and still missing bolt screws. The TV bike has no subscription, was broken for weeks, and has a broken pedal. Multiple pieces of equipment have rust and need adjustments. read more

They have had a lot of staff turn over lately so I don't know many of them well. Evan is one of the best trainers I've seen. But most of them are good people working for what appears to be a very unreasonable person. Not the manager but the owner. Enter into a financial agreement with these people at your own risk. The cancel policies are unclear to both staff and clients. And when mistakes are made you take it on the chin. I entered into a 6 month training agreement for like 680 dollars a month. The trainer I signed up with for specific reason quit. After about 2 months of training and the loss of the trainer that I chose, I really didn't want to do it anymore. Was told in no uncertain terms that was my problem. So for next four months I paid for training I wasn't doing. Fair enough. I signed that contract. But made it VERY clear over that four months that I was done with that training. What happened on month 7. I got popped again because I didn't cancel. Which you can't do online by the way. But you can cancel your membership there. Guess what was said when I complained. Again. You enter into any type of business contract with this gym at your own peril. read more

Horrible gym. Dont walk but run from this gym and find another location to workout. Too much to list but staff and management seem like they've hardly been to a gym let alone understand how to run one properly. Gym ettiquette is very poor here as many dont properly put away weights and staff seems too interested in harrassing customers about inconsequential things while allowing the most aggregious gym ettiquette to continue. No real care for sanitation during a time when we all are supposed to care about covid and germs. No place to put phones in half the workout areas. You will see phones for peoples bluetooth music all over the floor. Now thats an obvious tripping hazard as most phones are black and blend into the black floor and sanitation hazard as people then put up to their cheeks to use as phones. You cant bring a bag for water, or straps or belts, etc. so one cant say its a real gym that serious people would go to. A lot more to complain about but i'll stop there....i have never made a negative review or comment before as I usually only upvote companies but after being emailed several times about doing a survey for their own records I unloaded a bit about the things that have gone sour in this gym privately for their own good and i got a snarky email back from management. Nobody believes that someone goes into someones bag underneath a weight bench to steal used sweaty grips or gloves and nobody trips on these small bags. These were stated reasons why "corporate rules" were now being enforced even though previous workout anytime clubs in orlando or beachside location NEVER enforced as long as anyone never abused normal gym ettiquette. I workout every other day at workout anytime in Port Orange. The manager there refused to put another station on the TV. They had all day to change channels and would not put a news channel on. Previously I've seen the manager chase around female employees throughout the workout room. They later mysteriously go into the office. I've even had them make me get off a machine when they wanted to clean, instead of waiting. read more

Do NOT sign up for this gym. Absolutely the most scammy practices I've ever seen. They charge you an already ridiculous price for the shoddy services they offer, and in the fine print will raise it one you whenever they can. This gym built a cancellation policy around bullying and lack of communication. Good luck trying to cancel your membership, especially if your schedule doesn't match up with the GM, the ONE person who can cancel you - and will try their best to not let you cancel. I was happy with the facility and the price, until I tried to cancel my membership. As a senior with asthma, I cannot be too careful about being in public places during COVID-19. Turns out they're charging me $59 for cancelling. First, there was no hint I was in a contract when I signed up. Second, you'd think they'd forgive a fee for cancelling during a pandemic. After seeing the owners response, which is incorrect in several ways, I'm not surprised at yet another example of poor customer service. I was super setting the machine, changing my music in between sets, and she comes up and asks me which I reply why I'm on my phone to change music. She walks away, no one said the owner bi**? He said the owners wife so that entire comment is clearly fabricated. And you weren't even around when I asked that question so for you to make a judgement off of hearsay just goes to show the drama is unreal. A prime example of the drama and cattiness in this gym. I was also paying for the highest membership possible so to make the claim that I'm not a paying customer due to my insurance is again immature and insulting. And no one came up to ask to use the other cable that was available next to me on the one out of two matrix cable machines? Perhaps not a 'me' issue and a gym issue. Sad. I come to a gym looking for a good workout and a reliable gym only to find it's another high school locker room. read more

I never write reviews. This is my first one and I am more upset that I have to write one than anything. Back in November, I went looking for a new gym that was close to where I lived and came across two gyms (One being workout anytime and the other being Anytime Fitness). I went to Anytime Fitness and was disappointed when I found out they only offered yearly contracts and no cancel anytime policy so I went to workout anytime. I was told that the monthly contract can be terminated at anytime and I loved this. I was so hooked I even opted for the $25 membership over the $10, however, I was met with disappointment when a friend and I was told to leave when I brought him as a guest (as I had the $25 membership allowing me to do so) because the staff was going home. The next day when I went I wanted to downgrade my membership to $10 but they told me if I did so I would be charged but if I waited 2 months I would have the option to downgrade or cancel with no charge so I said fine (I thought was kinda odd about the cancel thing) and waited but then the Corona virus outbreak happened and I stopped going in January. Fast forward to June I went to cancel and they want to charge me $59 to cancel and on top of that an additional $26 for the following month THAT I WON'T EVEN BE WORKING OUT!!!! I emailed them to try and straighten this out and they don't want to work with me and they told me I'm just confused. The person I emailed also said I wasn't in a month to month agreement which is what I was told when signing up! This is ridiculous! I have seen a review on the neighborhood app about this place regarding finances and I wish I listened. I also wish I looked at the other reviews by people written here on google because it would of saved me a ton of money and problems.
