First I found myself standing in line to order coffee, or at least I thought that was what I was doing. Nope. Get in one line to order (Hot Latin Lover and Air Beneath by Wings?, props for fun names), then get in another to use the touchscreen payment center (there's only one computer for the coffee/snack stand), then get in another to pick up your order (which after all that still takes a while). Interesting concept of airport pick up, pay and go. You can order your food and drink at the many iPad terminals. This was confusing to me as I ordered at the counter then had to go to the kiosk to pay...there are no visible instructions on what to do. However there were plenty of World Bean Reps asking if you need help. Got a coffee (can't really go wrong with that). I ordered a Cheese Danish but they gave it to me cold and don't have an option to warm it up. Good place to chill if you have a layover as there are many bar seats around a counter with TV. Also have plenty of power outlets to recharge your electronic devices. Not too bad but the food could be a bit more better if they could do a simple heating of a pastry. read more

If you are stuck in Newark for four hours after a red eye morning flight, all you want is a decent cup of coffee. Not too strong, not too weak and where you can dump enough sugar and cream to shock your system into a state of semi alertness. Worldbean does not give you this. They instead charge you $3 for something that can best be described as water stepped in an urn of old coffee beans. I even found some beans in the bottom of my cup. Showed up and waited in line 10m as one attendant was making coffees to other customers and her two colleagues were ignoring everyone else on their phones. Instead of offering of refund, the only thing she said was "I can't do anything, the machine is now shut down" and told me I could grab a cup of drip coffee instead. First of all, OTG sucks. Everything they touch turns into a mess. I travel every week for work and what they've done to Newark airport is nothing less than a tragedy. They took an already busy facility and turned it into an absolute zoo. You wonder whether the people who planned the renovation ever actually set foot in the airport when they were a lot of flights coming and going. I don't know who does their staff hiring but my unsupported research reveals that about 90% of the people who work in all of these various stalls are just angry, rude, and could not care less about their jobs. Average coffee shop in terminal C right next to gate 109. I ordered a large drip coffee ($4) which came out pipping hot! I had to wait about 10 mins to take the first sip. They have a nice selection of espresso drinks, fresh juices and pastries. Service was fast and friendly. There was no line which was a welcome sight having just passed Starbucks which had a line 15 people deep. There are a few small tables if you'd like to sit in the copy shop vs your gate. Overall not a bad place to stop and probably a better choice than starbucks if you are in a hurry. read more

I would understand if they were asking dumb questions but one was clarifying if they were out of a specific muffin and the other was kindly asking for more napkins because the holder was empty. Angry staff What a miserable experience I had with world bean this morning at Newark airport. I am a frequent traveler and go through the airport almost every other week. This morning the staff must have gotten up on the wrong side of the bed. They were absolutely adamant that I couldn't get a decaf Americano or that I couldn't get whole or 2% milk for my coffee. They practically shouted the word "No" to me. The only saving grace is that the fully leaded coffee did get served promptly. Between ordering one place, having to pay at a separate location and then picking up coffee at another location and finally getting milk/sugar at yet another location ...all while hauling around travel baggage,doesn't make it easy for travelers. Ordered a latte from here. After waiting a couple of minutes, I had to ask them for it, which may have been because someone else took my drink. It reminds me of when I was a teenager and would order coffee at DD and learned I needed to specify not wanting cream and sugar in my coffee. EDIT: As I was throwing away my coffee, I realized it was labeled S + V, which I am guessing means soy vanilla latte. This was the ineptness of the person who labeled the cup, she wrote the specifics of the order before mine. I find the "OTG experience" with the ipads infuriating! We ordered coffee and baked treats from a real person, thinking we bypassed the dehumanizing ipad system, but then we were sent to a check out area to pay at an ding-dang ipad that wouldn't even take cash! The obscene OTG system is confusing and dehumanizing. You know that annoying guy at work that over thinks things and just makes every task more complicated than it needs to be? OTG is "that guy". If you like coffee flavored water using burnt beans, then this place is for you. This place is seriously overpriced for what you get. I even tried some of the "specialty drinks". I wanted a frozen mocha (or whatever it is called) They made my drink, but failed to tell me that they were out mocha. It took them over 5 minutes to make this one drink. So all I got was a frozen cappuccino. When I demanded a refund they had no idea how to process one and needed a manager from somewhere in the airport to come and handle it. Not the friendliness place you wish to spend your had earned money which is probably why there was no waiting. Grab a "cheese" danish and a latte as I was waiting for my flight. Nothing fancy, a couple of tables so you can sit and enjoy while waiting for your flight. Clean looking from my side of the counter, staff just not very social but gets your order and change correctly so you can get going for your flight. Employees have no clue how their drinks are made - my question of whether the "chocolate orange" was an espresso drink or not was met with blank stares from FOUR employees who were standing around doing nothing, including noticing they had a customer. Just to be clear, there are two of these shops in terminal C. I went to the one closest to gate 84 (NOT the one in the hub with all the tables) and had a very positive experience. Their juice machine was down, so they very nicely offered a smoothie any way I wanted it AND at a discount. What a really nice surprise! I forget the name of the smoothie I got, but it has banana, kale, spinach, and some other good stuff in it. Well worth it! Thank you to the gentleman who took my order.
