Every time I walk by, I always see a long line outside this coffee shop. After the farmers market, I decided it was finally time to give this shop a try. Inside, it's a one man show (very efficient) with no indoor seating. There is outdoor seating where you can hang with your pup. I went for a cappuccino, but the iced lattes I saw came out looking like they had a perfect milk to espresso ratio. My cappuccino was very good - a perfect temperature (it's important) with a really tasty espresso flavor. This is definitely one of the best coffee shops in the heights, if not THE best (Bread and Salt is stiff competition for a classic espresso beverage). Plus, it came in a very cute cup. Will definitely be returning!

love this coffee shop coffee- some of the best coffee I have found in jersey city ! it's a small place with one person or two people max working at a time so this is not the place to go if you're in a rush but staff is kind and chill this is also not a place to sit down and do work there is no space inside at all for lounging but there are a few outdoor tables! This is a space to either pick up and walk to the park or to sit at the tables outside but not a work from home kind of space

Was in the area and needed my morning matcha. This was the closest coffee shop to where I was staying. Service is very quick and staff are super attentive. I appreciate that they have so many repeating customers and the baristas know them personally and practically their orders. It's a super small establishment so it's definitely a to-go spot and not a sit down. There is a small area for outdoor seating and a place to tie your pups since they can't come in.

A great little coffee shop! I've stopped in a bunch of times, usually for just a hot black coffee and it's always just exactly what I needed. I also love their single origin and while it's a little more expensive, always really enjoyed it. I've also tried their peanut butter cup square thing and it was exactly the sweet treat I was looking for. I love the sea salt added on top. Salty & sweet is never bad. I've also gotten their overnight oats by Garnish (local to NJ I think) that they have in the fridge and could eat those really every morning. This is one little room just for ordering but they have two or so tables set up outside. Perfect little spot for grabbing and going!

Great location right across from a park with a beautiful view of the city. We drove there from Staten Island because my wife heard about it on the comment section of some Instagram list, and it was well worth the gas and tolls money. The coffee was incredible. I had the cortado and it was one of the best cortados I ever had - strong and yet silky smooth. My wife had a cold brew and was thrilled too. The prices were nice too, which is a pleasant surprise for what they were going for in terms of style. I'd love to go back.

I have been a big fan of Modcup since the Palisade location opened! I don't get to Modc as often as I would like but it's always a highlight visiting! The guys are like family and the coffee is always right on!

A line before 9am to go in. :) the only cafe open at 7:30am

The only coffee shop with best quality coffee open before 9:00 am in Jersey City Heights! I was looking for a Cafe to stop by before going in to work. I had stopped by two new coffee shops in town and unfortunately they were still not opened. I was hoping to find Modcup open and to my surprise they open at 7:30 am. I was really content and satisfied to know this solid coffee spot to stop by every time I need a latte. Which by the way, the friendly barista knows how to make it. Ethiopian coffee grain and oat milk no sugar... Just the way I like it. If you are in town, give this place a visit. Hope you enjoy!

    Hot latte, medium size

Cozy small coffee shop! Nice outside tables. Friendly atmosphere, delicious coffee. Thank you :)

Stopped by here for a quick coffee and was delighted! Ordered my classic cappuccino and it was great! It was just the right temp, nice creamy taste with strong coffee flavor bursting out. There wasn't much space inside or outside to sit/work/study but it is a nice spot to stop by to pick up some coffee. I would highly recommend a quick drop by if in the area.

A tip that the merchant added without my permission which the owner doesn't know what I'm talking about

I'm writing this review to alert everyone to review their credit/debit card statements! This establishment added their own tip to my order!!! I will be reporting this matter. But please verify if you are also a victim! As you see, the owner has no idea what I'm talking about because they don't accept tips. Look at the pic I posted!

Kyoto cold brew all day everyday. I found out they use the sunburst coffee for the Kyoto. I need to have a bag in my house at all times.

Not only…read moreare the desserts incredible, but the employees were so friendly and pleasant to deal with as well. The star of the show is, of course, the Merveilleux. It's made with light, airy meringue and whipped cream, then covered in chocolate shavings. It somehow manages to be rich and delicate at the same time. I can see why it's their signature dessert. They offer different flavors and sizes too, from mini versions to larger cakes that are perfect for sharing. One of the coolest parts of visiting is that the kitchen is completely open. You can watch the pastry chefs assembling these beautiful creations right in front of you. It's mesmerizing and makes the whole experience feel special. The bakery has roots in Northern France and Belgium, where the Merveilleux originated, but pastry chef Frédéric Vaucamps reinvented the classic recipe to make it lighter and more modern. Whatever he did worked because these pastries are unforgettable. A quick tip: cash only, so come prepared. Honestly, if you're anywhere nearby, I think you need to run there. Between the amazing desserts, the friendly staff, and the chance to watch everything being made fresh, it's one of the most enjoyable bakery experiences I've had in a long time. I know you won't be sorry!

Aux Merveilleux de Fred is a tiny, beautifully fragrant shop on 8th Ave. I ordered the cold brew black and it was one of the smoothest, most satisfying first cups of the day I've had in a long time. Finding genuinely good black cold brew in this city is harder than it should be, and this one hit the spot so perfectly I made a second solo trip before sundown. The chocolate and almond croissant was delicate, flaky, and exactly what a croissant should be. The shop itself is small, no indoor seating, but two benches out front! The staff was warm and the whole place smells incredible the moment you walk in. I've already earmarked the Cramique for my next visit, because if it's anywhere near as good as everything else, I'm in trouble. Do yourself a favor and stop in!

The staff is all very nice and the food comes out quickly. portion sizes are decent for lunch items and things like french toast are above average. I liked that they used real tableware that had some weight to it as opposed to plastic, we accidentally knocked over a glass as we were leaving and it hit the ground but didn't break so that was a big relief but it makes the dining experience feel like more thought was put into it when even the table ware is of good quality. Overall it seems like a place that will be around for a long time, and you should definitely visit if you're in the area.

Good to share between two people or take leftovers home. $18 avocado toast + $3 egg was tasty, filling and healthy. Pretty presentation. $6 hot matcha was disappointing. Very bland and watered down.
