2nd visit. Love this place! World Cup is world class. For me it comes down to one tough question with two wonderful choices. In most of New Mexico, the question is Red or Green (chile, that is). At World Cup, the question is Mocha Dilettante or Mocha Mexicano? Less sweet, which I love, versus spicy chocolate, which I love even more... Mexicano! Great staff, great coffee. I would give it 5.5 stars, but that is not at option on Yelp! This place is rad. I love it so much that my husband bought a pound of their espresso for my birthday present. Oh it is so great! Absolutely a gem! All the locals drink their espresso (is it espressi?) here. It feels like everyone knows each there at this cafe. I notice you can also read the NY Times here. The service is quick and the lines may appear long but they move real fast. There is some seating out front in the form of benches and stools inside near the bar if you want to be in the cool air conditioning. There is parking out front and some people just come in and grab to go. I see that have other stuff besides beverages like cookies, biscotti, and chocolate. Everything is organic and mostly local. I'm pretty sure their coffee beans came straight from Italy. I know that their granola is absolutely delicious, with oat nuts, banana chips, and sliced dried almonds, and oat milk, it was fantastic. I bet this is the healthiest breakfast I ever had ever! Before I left, I had to get a I love World Cup Cafe bumper sticker which I will use as a regular sticker (not having car will do that to you). read more

Quaint coffee shop & enjoyed the vibe here. Their slogan that was displayed on some t-shirts and bumper stickers was, "Resist Mediocrity." Good mantra. As tourists, we sat back and watched the barista greet everyone who walked through the door by name. Must be a hot spot for locals to keep coming back to. It was apparently her last week too, and many were sad to see her go. That's the mark of good service! Why 4 and not 5 stars? I got the Mocha Borgia (sp?) which had orange zest in it. Great flavor, but multiple times I had to pull several twists of orange peel out of my mouth. I wished I had a strainer to take them out. Hampered my experience JUST a little, but I would go back for what I'm sure are many more yummy varieties. read more

This cafe has the reputation of serving the best latte or other beverage you have ever had. There is a reason for that! The most poplar request is lattes on the vast menu, and this place made us believe in oat milk as a replacement for almond milk. Now we are oat milk fans. I also ordered the turmeric latte, which does not have caffeine, and found it to be wonderful every time. It was the first place that I found offering coconut water with ginger and turmeric infused. I spotted it in the case behind the cashier. I even tried the refreshing lavender water. One time I treated myself to some lemon zucchini cake, the first time I've ever had it, and it was quite delicious. This is a very small coffee shop, with a bench out front where you can sip your coffee or other beverage of choose, watching the world go by. The staff are fantastic, and they are all about handing you excellent coffee and non caffeine beverages. It really all be one of the best lattes or turmeric none caffeine lattes you have ever had in your life. BRING CASH.. This coffee shop does not accept credit cards. The first day I stopped by the lady behind the counter was super friendly, and had a good suggestion for a drink for my kids. The next day we came back and she remembered exactly what we had, and got it perfect. Two days later we came back and she commented "Oh good you came back!" Wow, such a great way to make a tourist feel at home! I drink coffee black or strong espresso because I like the flavor of coffee, and World Cup offers some great brew. I was there last Thursday, 22 Jan 2017. There is very limited parking, but that goes with the ambience of Taos. I was greeted by two friendly baristas, who made a decent cappuccino- albeit not worth the $4.50 for a medium, their maximum size. There is almost no seating in there, but I did manage a place at the crowded bar. It's always fun to look at local wares, but I noticed extraordinary prices in a state where only Mississippi has more people living below the poverty line. I then noticed the bumper stickers for sale that denigrate our president. They were truly vile and I will not repeat the foul words on them. It was definitely not family friendly. I'm aware of Taos' liberal bias, but doesn't good business practice consider treating all customers the same and not alienating opposing views? It's sad that, a week into our new president's tenure, such ire for him exists. I was in the military under President Obama and while I didn't vote for him, I certainly did not become disgusting about his policies or the people who supported him, regardless of how misguided I felt they were. If you want to avoid spending money on a front company for the far left liberal agenda, I highly recommend going elsewhere. I am pretty agnostic when it comes to where I buy my coffee. I don't care who you voted for in the last election, so long as you can make coffee to my liking. I ordered an iced Americano. Nothing fancy. It should be a drink that cannot be eff'd up. But they did. The Americano was bitter and I ended up throwing it away. I can't remember the last time I tossed a drink. Baristas can screw things up once in a while. It happens. Unfortunately, we were on the road and couldn't turn around to have the drink re-made. On a recent joyride from Santa Fe to Taos, my friend and I found ourselves looking for coffee. Unfamiliar with the city and finding our first choice closed (luckily, it would turn out), we found World Cup on yelp. After a bit of navigational drama (driving the wrong way on one way streets is a good way to get your cardio for day), we found this little coffeehouse. No words can describe the goodness that would ensue. The friendly barista suggested the Americano and then proceeded to knock it out of the park. Literally, the best coffee I've tasted in the US or Europe. I'll be dreaming about that Americano until our return trip to Taos. Three cautions: first, this is a cash-only business; second, you will not be doing work over your laptop here--very small seating area that's really just for quick stops; finally, it's a very small parking lot with limited room to back out. Those driving overcompensation-utility-vehicles will be advised to park on a side street and walk up. read more

When we were visiting Taos, we referred to World Cup as "Cafe Popular" or "El Popular" because it was always so crowded. When we finally elbowed our way to the counter and ordered some hot cocoa, we found out why. We all had the Mexican-style hot chocolate and it was perfect- hot, spicy, rich, and delicious. All of the different mochas looked really tasty, too. They featured real Italian style drinks (real espresso, macchiato, etc) which is always a bonus for me. They sold some tasty (but simple) pastries as well as some delicious chocolates and funny postcards. I don't recall the exact prices, but I remember being impressed at how much cheaper they were than Starbucks for so much the superior product. As some yelpers have mentioned, there is not a lot of space to sit down, and during crowded hours you may have trouble even making it inside. Good job, World Cup! read more

Tiny, warm and welcoming. Tiny little bar seating with Windows seating to the side to see the main Blvd. they have a few snacks for a sweet tooth. One negative for me is that they don't have almond milk! I don't do dairy or coconut due to a severe allergy. So I brought my own almond milk. Parking is terrible but the place is so warm and welcoming. I don't believe they have a restroom available for customers. They have several little post cards to chose from which is a sweet touch.
