You commit 3 hours of waiting outside for a small chance of buying something. The sale starts and owner decides that she would give the 1st person in line the courtesy tour for 3 minutes to show her the location of everything the 1st person is interested in. So because you are 10 seconds later than the 1st person, you are heavily punished. By the time the sale starts, not even the 2nd or 3rd has the chance to buy anything. I have my grandmothers ring and before I handed it down to my daughter I wanted it appraised for insurance purposes and to document authenticity as an heirloom for our family. I was immediately impressed that the appraisal information was gathered right there (the ring never left my sight) and Todd B was not only professional, but with NO INFORMATION he was able to place the ring in the proper decade within seconds of seeing it. He gave us information on the ring that other jewelers had missed and just thru the information he provided alone has convinced my daughter to not alter the original setting, something that others had tried to get her to "modernize". His estimate was on the cautious side, but his final appraisal took less than a week. He pointed out the beauty of the cut and the setting. I would definitely recommend using Jared and Todd B from World Gemological Services for any heirloom appraisals that you require. Jared Galleria of Brea has an appraisals day once a month and you can schedule an appointment or walk-in. It is well worth the price. read more

I had a fantastic experience with this company and would highly recommend them to anyone who is looking to have their jewelry appraised. I needed a high-end watch appraised for insurance purposes and called a few different places. When I called world gemological services, I spoke to Whitney and she explained their process and I immediately felt comfortable in taking my watch to her. When I took my watch in for the appraisal, Whitney was friendly and professional. She carefully documented and performed all the tests in front of me so the watch never left my sight. Whitney answered all of my questions and even explained what she was doing and why. The appraisal only took about 20 minutes. The next day, Whitney sent me an email and called my cell phone to tell me my written appraisal was complete. I appreciated Whitney's remarkable customer service and expertise. read more

I needed appraisals on several pieces of my deceased mother's jewelry and other mementos, and was referred to WGS by my trusted local jeweler. Setting up the appointment was painless, and their very reasonable fee structure was explained in detail. Todd Bradshaw went over the pieces with me and advised that three pieces were worth appraising, and that the others were nice as keepsakes but aren't valuable. He also informed me about different types of appraisals, depending on their purpose. Todd then examined the jewelry while I waited, using several pieces of equipment, explaining what he was doing and what he found as he worked. The entire process took about an hour, and -- after he did a bit of research -- I received the appraisal certificates by email that evening; hard copies are being mailed. I highly recommend this business! read more

I was looking for a jewelry appraiser where you didn't have to leave your jewelries for a few days to a week and a place where the appraisal was done right in front of you and not behind closed doors. I honestly wasn't sure if the place I was looking for existed but to my surprise, it did. I am sooooo glad I researched enough and found this place. My sister and I were running late but Gemologist Todd Bradshaw was most courteous and accommodated us just the same and gave us more than an hour of his undivided attention. Todd gave us excellent customer service. He was very knowledgeable, patient and thorough in answering every question my sister and I had. I met with Todd last week to obtain an appraisal on my late mother's diamond ring for the purpose of selling it. The first thing Todd mentioned was that I could avoid paying for an appraisal if I wished to use a broker he recommends, so he was basically talking me out of paying him! I told him i wished to continue with the appraisal and he spent nearly an hour with me, teaching and instructing me and explaining in detail the reasons for the value and how I could best sell it. I can, without hesitation, recommend Todd's services, especially in an area where finding someone one can trust is shall we say "dicey", and to top it off, his appraisal was roughly 25% higher than a quasi appraisal my sister had obtained from her "trusted" jeweler. Sandra was my first line of contact, she was extremely polite and professional - she scheduled an appointment for me for the very next day. When I arrived at their office, I was greeted by Sandra and Todd, Sandra offered me a bottle of water while I waited. Todd was a consummate professional- he explained the appraisal process to me, and asked if I had any questions. He completed the appraisal process, while explaining each step of the process. I was only in their office for approximately 20 minutes, I was in and out in no time. The appraisal was emailed to me within in a couple of hours, job well done, Todd. I have been using this company for over 8 years and if I could give them 10 stars I would. World Gemological is a wonderful company to work with and the staff and employees are very knowledgeable & honest. The appraisal's are completed by a GIA Graduate Gemologist. This is very important if you need a jewelry appraisal and especially if you need it for insurance purposes. I've worked with Whitney & Todd and they are very professional and accurate. If I have questions they go the extra mile and take the time to explain and educate me. They are open on Saturday's which is real helpful if you're unable to get to them during the week. I needed an appraisal for an old family ring given to my wife by her mother. Her brother thought it was only fair he should receive 1/2 the value since the ring wasn't going to him. To be fair, I decided to get a fair market estimate so we'll keep peace in the family. I made an appointment with Samantha Taylor and within 20 minutes I was on my way home and told the estimate would be emailed to me within a few days. Just two days later, Samantha did exactly as she said and I received a the fair market estimate with clear pictures and descriptions of each diamond, the type of cut, size, color, clarity and carat measurement. Wonderful! My husband and I stopped by yesterday for an engagement ring appraisal for insurance. He took extra time with us to talk about the history and details of our piece and gave us more information than we would have gotten from an insurance appraisal. I had a family heirloom loose diamond that I needed appraised so my future son-in-law could buy it from me. Todd mapped the diamond and appraised it and gave me the report in 1 day! Mike is so knowledgable and very personable which made the process amazing. From there, we worked with his wife on designing a setting.
