I see that my original review is 15 years old so it is time for an update! We stopped by here on a Sunday afternoon. It is such a fun store just to wander and look at the huge variety of stuff--dishes; furniture; boxed, bottled, and packaged foodstuffs; sweets and soups; wine; pots and pans plus other kitchen supplies; perfume; artwork; baskets; chairs; rugs; the list goes on and on. Such a wide variety of stuff that is just fun. If you are looking for something quirky or out of the norm, this is the place for you. I found a bowl that I was looking for and picked up some other non-essential things that I did not expect to buy when we entered. So set aside an hour or so just to meander and explore. Love a nice Wednesday dilly dally at World Market. i haven't been here for the Christmas decor and shopping but loved the options on the floor. I think that the employees here all deserve five stars each. They are all so sweet and so helpful and personable. The only reason I gave this store four stars is because they need to hire armed security for the store and the employees and customers safety. We have been in here multiple times over the last month and see a lot of crazy stuff going on outside of this location as well as inside when one individual came in and started harassing myself and another woman. The employees did everything they could to disperse the situation but there's only so much they can do while also staying safe. World market owners, stop being selfish and please protect your employees. On another note, the selection is beautiful. Some things are poorly constructed such as the outdoor square mosaic table. It came with the wrong sized screws to put the table together and we had to go to Home Depot to get the correct ones. All the other furniture that we have gotten from here, including a couch and two TV stands have been amazing . read more

Horrible management. Won't be back to this location, worth the drive to the World Market off Tollway where the new Dick's sporting goods store is located. Horrible Furniture DONT BUY ANYTHING FROM HERE. I had come here to buy a futon sofa and we they didn't let us test the display it's literally dog sh*t. I've never felt such an uncomfortable sofa / futon. the Futon is rock hard and the sofa aspect is so uncomfortable u can feel the wooden support inside of it. love this place! it's like Pier 1 on steroids! they have quite an assortment of fun things! makes me want to throw a party! i came with a friend that was looking for a specific cushion and they had it on hold for her-very friendly salespeople. I found an outdoor rug there-on sale 60% off! Also bought some hot sauce that my friend recommended and some pork rinds. I know, weird things to buy but they had the most interesting snacks! I loved all of their decorations-very fun outdoor string lights, party type decorations, outdoor decorations including bright cushions, home decor, they have it all! This place makes me think its like a fancier, more well-rounded Pier 1. I mean that as compliement . However tiny little issue.. the wine selection is decent.. I was thinking it would be greater than what is offered. They do also have a wide beer selection too (you can mix and match). The staff seems friendly. World Market is really hard to describe. It's kind of like the housewares section of TJ Maxx combined with Pier 1, but with a large wine section in addition to those things. Not everything is cheap, but you can always find some great deals. Specifically, I usually go for local wine, kitchen stuff, and incense and candles. At this particular location, the staff is really friendly and helpful. If you come to this shopping center to go to Central Market, it's definitely worth stopping by World Market while you're in the neighborhood, especially if you're looking for reasonably priced wine. read more

There are several stores in the Dallas area that I wish had Oklahoma locations. This is one. Granted, there is a World Market in Tulsa, but that's just not that convenient for us OKC area customers. Since the Christmas is upcoming (aren't you impressed that it is on my radar already in mid-November?) I though tis the season to review Cost Plus World Market. This is truly a fantastic place for stocking stuffers for young and old. It is also fabulous for truly unique gifts, and if pressed, I could probably find something for every person on my list, from hand-crafted toys to an incredible selection of wine. A previous reviewer complimented the staff, saying that everyone who works there is helpful and really seems to want to be there. I echo that, everyone is so nice. I also have to say that they have absolutely the best and most functional selection of compost buckets for your kitchen. Mine is stainless, to match my appliances, and it has a washable and replacable filter in the top. They also have white, red and green enamel. So much more attractive than the bowl of peels, rinds, pits and seeds that used to grow on my counter every time I cooked! And great for the environment too! read more

There's really nothing about this place that doesn't rock. A mix and match of a 6-pack of beer? Don't mind if I do. That's probably my favorite part of the store. Sample some wine? Heck yeah! Need a card, a lamp, a chair, some dishes, glasses, candy, pillows; they have you covered. I bought some chocolate covered sunflower seeds the last time I was in. So I've been meaning to wander around the food aisles a little more to see what other unique-ish items they have. Some items I don't find as cheap as others. Like I bought a pair of wine glasses that were around $3, but then a gift bag was around $5. Whatevs. This place isn't like many other places, so it's still a win-win. I ordered this Langley Storage Cabinet and when it came I opened it up to put it together and found one of the feet broken. It's evident here that someone knew this piece was broken and did a half-way job of fixing it instead of simply replacing the piece, as I'm having to do now as the customer. I'd like to put it together and add it to my home but was notified that it will take 3-5 business days to receive an email telling me when I will get my parts that should have been and could have been sent to me correctly the first time. There was no offer for express shipping on the parts, no offer to compensate me for sending a broken piece, no offer to make up for the time that this will sit in my home unused. I guess next time I'll take my money somewhere where people fix their problems instead of covering them up with staples and sending them out anyway. read more

This place is COOL! I used to go to the Plano location, but I dropped in after having lunch across the way. This place is great for all kinds of kitchen goods and I noticed that they have a Jaccard meat tenderizer under their own brand name, for those of you who want to tenderize and season your meats quickly. Besides kitchen goods, they've got all kinds of stuff that you may or may not need. I think It'd be a great place to stop by for picking out something for a white elephant gift exchange. I primarily came in for some cheap wine. They have a pretty good variety of really cheap wine, as in the less than $10 variety. You know the kind that gets you messed up really quick! If you go now (before Christmas) they have some Christmassy wines for pretty cheap. I got some German wine that your supposed to drink warm. I've never had it before, but the sample lady was pushing it and it tasted great! So at less than $5 a bottle you know this crazy Asian bought some! read more

OMG.... I cannot even begin to describe the countless ways that I love World Market! From mid-day wine tastings, to wacky kitchen gadgets, gourmet candy and treats, art, jewlry, super cute furniture, and anything and everything to decorate your home.... I'm always in this frickin place for hours! Recently came to look for some stuff for a mini apartment make-over and was not disappointed. Picked up a super cute dark wood vanity, curtains on clearance ($7 holla!!), a cock wind chime (cause you can never have too much cock around the house), placemats, and my favorite candy bar on this most recent excursion. And all at great prices!!!! The staff here is always super friendly and willing to help out. Our cashier was even super cool enough to open up a container of ginger-snaps while we were waiting in line. Guess she heard our conversation about being totally famished!!!! LOVE IT. I had stopped in to pick up a strainer and ended up buying a lot more than I expected to. As I was checking out Alexis our cashier told us there was on online coupon that we could use to save us 15%. This is the only world market I've been to in Dallas but I'm pretty sure it is also the best. The store itself is run down on the outside, in a long series of strip mall type stores along greenville north of Lovers. Once inside though, it contains all of the glory that a world market should exhibit - cheap reasonably classy furniture for students/people on a budget, carpets, international foodstuffs (e.g., Sriracha, packaged non-perishable indian meals for one, tiny salamis and cheeses), beverages of every variety including microbrews, small batch soda runs, wines from all over, and sake. They also have the ubiquitous asian candy aisle (POCKY!), a kitchen wares section that has cheap and super useful bits and pieces (like bakewear, basil scented handsoap, salt shakers, wine glasses, etc.), and a few aisles with toys and other nicknacks. This is a great store to go into on a weekend when you feel the need to waste some time mindlessly shopping but don't want to actually blow your wad buying things. If I come here, I can spend an hour looking around in delight and leave with $20 of items, whereas at Target that hour frequently costs over $100 and I leave feeling like I missed so many things! At World Market you'll feel like a kid in a candy store, and actually be able to buy what you want with your measly allowance. read more

Great store! This location is a bit smaller than others that I have been to, but it's jam packed with goodies in every department. Browsing around can consume an hour or two if you let it. I came most recently for a gift for the roommate. I found everything I needed to make a great wine and wine related gift basket. Glasses, a wine stopper, great wine selection, the actual basket, and filler. Like everyone has already said, you can find great bottles of wine here, and at great prices. Really had service at 2 World Markets today, but will put the review under this one since they did most of the leg work. (They didn't have enough tables/chairs to fill what I needed, but called around, found them, and reserved them up at the Greenville/Lovers store for me.) Went in to check out the tables after seeing Shanna L. mention in a talk thread that they have nice heavy wood tables for great prices... she was absolutely correct! Thank you Shanna! Have been eyeing a table at Pottery Barn for some time now hoping they would have a decent sale, but they never do... they only ever drop them by $200 or so ($1400 instead of $1600 - woohoo!) I couldn't find anything I liked at other furniture places, either too formal/stuffy, or too cheap looking/casual and I had almost caved in to PB when I saw Shanna's post and headed to World Market. I found a nice, heavy wood table, very sturdy, and that right mix that you can dress up or down at an unbelievable price (72x40 inches... and very heavy). I bought 2 tables which I use end to end and it works perfectly (when extended can seat 18... yay dinner parties!) at less than 2/3 what I would have paid at PB, which left me money to buy some great chairs. It looks great in the long skinny dining room, and I am definitely a fan! Also wonderful prices on placemats, napkins, some throw pillows, a cool pitcher... how did I not know about this place? This is by far my favorite location of World Market. I love how they greet you as soon as you come in, don't bother you constantly with "Need any help?" it's like they're trained to notice the look of despair and confusion for when you actually need help. Love it! There's always really neat stuff in this store, I love all the cultural food, wines, decor. The only time I ever stumble on this place is during my work lunch breaks since I just so happen to work down the road. LOVE World Market. Mix-and-match 6 pack of beer? Yes, please. And these aren't your typical beers you'd find at Target or Walmart. This is the good stuff, the craft beers, seasonal beers, and much more. The home decor items are also great. The gourmet food section is one of our favorite parts of the store because you can find so many unique, tasty items here. Staff has always been friendly, but that's probably because management there generally rocks and everyone seems to at least not mind coming in to work. They keep the atmosphere light and everyone we've talked to has always been helpful. Highly recommend! read more

World market has LOST of great international grocery items, This location is a bit challenging parking wise,, but there is always a spot pretty close by. The selection is a bit smaller than the Firewheel location , But the manager does a LOT with the space he has available & always has great food items. The people there are very friendly & the place is great to go browse & know that you will find new stuff there each time , even if you have been there many times before . This location is more limited in the selections of wine & Sake & pretty much everything else , but is convenient to the area it is in & I used to drive a long distance to reach it before the Firewheel location opened when it was the only game in town. It's one of those places you can go when you're totally broke and find something you absolutely love for less than $10. It might be a bottle of wine (usually). It might be some bangle bracelets ($3 the night of my bday dinner that totally matched my outfit, what?). It might be some outdoor patio furniture, artwork for your walls, small gifts, whatever. This place is awesome. This is one of those places that I consider "best in category." To compare semi-alike concepts, Pier One is great (and believe me, I love some Pier One), but it's not World Market. It's unpretentious, somehow, all the workers are happy to be there, and make you happy to be there too. The other day I found a rack of kites that included ladybugs, dragonflies, turtles, and some sort of creature that looked suspiciously like Falcor from The Neverending Story. Did I buy it? You bet I did. If I had a decent patio, I'm pretty sure this place would render me bankrupt. Not that it's expensive - actually, the greatest part about this place is that is SOOOO affordable. Quick, easy gift ideas all year round. I guess I shouldn't assume everyone knows about this place since I don't see more reviews? It's greatness. Especially with the holidays getting closer. You'll find some great gifts here for stocking stuffers, small gifts for co-workers or larger items for those closer to you. Who knows, that may even be yourself. I love to roam around here and always find way too much for my arms to handle. I have to make my way to the cash register or I'll start picking up everything. Dishes I don't need, cool chopstix, ramekins, canisters, wine, chocolate, coffee, seasonal items, baskets for magazines, cards. Everything, Everything! Thankfully my basket gets too heavy and I then know it's time to go. All locations are fairly consistent from my experience but I think they are more helpful at this location than a few others I've been to. You'll find rare items in the food section that work well for party snacks, and just ethnic things you forgot you wanted to pick up. The food and kitchen section gets me every time. They have the little boxes to make flan or creme brule, and if you don't have the ramekins to make it with they'll be on your way out the door. Heck, they may even have kitchen torches, but I'm not certain. I'm set in that dept. minus my girly lack of butane ;) You'll find bbq rubs, sauces and a lot that you can and can't find at other specialty stores. This is fun for me all around. They also have a large selection of wines at good prices that are perfect to take to a party and pick up a decorative wine bag to dress it up. They also have a fair amount of imported beer at reasonable prices. There is usually someone working in the wine section that can help you make selections if you're feeling a bit overwhelmed and/or clueless. I've never bought furniture here, but they have some cool outdoor and indoor sets. I'm not sure how much I trust the quality, but I can't really say from experience and would trust it over most items at Ikea any day. The name of this place just doesn't do it justice and makes it sound like junk or something? It's anything but that, and a must try if you haven't been. Think of Pier 1 but better. This is a reference for a specific product - not just the store. There are these Macadamia Lace Cookies that are absolutely sinful. Not exactly inexpensive - but so good, so fattening, so tasty, so impressive (pass them off as home made!) And then having been seduced by the cookies, I wandered all over the store. Some weird stuff - good beer selections, lacklustre wine selections though. So if you want bulk capers, cookies (of course), beer, candles, tableware, things you didn't know you wanted - but can't live without, odd gifts, chocolate, smelly stuff (candles, not cheese). Items that you'd expect to find around the world, (when in reality...nope...only Americans would buy the stuff), and a nice diverse food selection. This is a really fun store. There have been many times I've just been in the area and I stop in to peruse. I love the different "world" sections with all the great decor. Even more I love their beer/wine section. A pretty good selection of wine, and they will usually be on top of helping you out (though last time nobody came to my assistance...*sad*). Not a lot of beers (and they're sold room temp), but you can find some good beers you just don't see around much.
