I am regular customer of World Market at any location. I love so many things in this store. I go into WM for sangria and tea lights and come out with a bill for 150.00 or like yesterday 700.00 plus. This is the second time I visited this location i just discovered in Glendale, California. Yesterday 2-25-2022 , I was looking at a table and I asked a question to salesperson walking by , who I later found out was sadly one of the managers, named Michael. He was so dismissive of me and clearly doesn't care about customer service. I asked the if the table was on sale because of sign that said " save" and if it came in a darker color. Michael responded no to both of my questions and walked away. Then I remember I had met this same sales person before on my first visit and his attitude was just as rude then. It all came back to me . This store happens to be near many restaurants I frequent. I walked away from the area, got the items I needed and had plan to buy here and ready to leave, but I saw a younger sales person and decided to ask for the manager on duty. She saved the day!! She might be new in the store but she made it her business to correct the lack of customer service and to made sure I was well taken care of. Alissa apologized for the other person's arrogant behavior, not knowing it was a manager. She offered to help me, responded to all my questions and without being pushy helped me and I decided to buy the table and benches. There was a discount through my membership and other promotions that the first salesperson ( Michael) didn't know or cared to find out. It was a good day for me: I got something my mom will appreciate and the store benefited from my sale. I am the kind of person who commends great customer service. I feel it's the right thing to do. I always make sure the supervisor or manager knows how well their employees represent the business and I do Yelp about them. The line became so long and my purchase was a bit more time consuming; the other manager Sal and Elissa both helped me to check out and arranged assembling and delivery of all the entire dinning room set in only 3 hours! How amazing is that? They used a service called Lugg which I never heard of. Alissa was such an angel up to the last minute. The app was given us trouble and didn't work in the middle of the transaction. Sal and Elissa didn't just give up and told me to go home and unload Lugg. Elissa had 30 minutes for her shift to end but both assured me that they would finalized the process before she ended her shift. That's exactly what happened. it was challenging even for them to work through the hurdles of the app Lugg which they mentioned is an every day routine for them. It would have taken me hours and caused stress to deal with it. I would have probably cancel the sale. But thanks to these two professional, kind, empathetic human beings it was taking care of in 30 minutes. They both apologized for making me wait but I was just grateful that they were willing to help me use Lugg. I can tell that Elissa and Sal do these for other customers not just for me. My mom had her table built and delivered by 7:00 pm , as promised. I couldn't believe it was delivered the same day!! 100 + Salvador and Elissa are the kind of people who do their job well and make a difference in life. I can tell tell that the behavior of all 3 individuals are not isolated incidents. Yes, it wasn't a life or dead situation thank God. But life is filled of little things that can make a person feel better. We are all in this together people!! We all should be kind to others and do our job. If someone does not have people's skills, shouldn't be a manager!! It sets a bad precedent to the whole team. No one is more or better than others. We are all equals and therefore managers should answer questions and help customers. They are not exempt from being polite and having manners. It's all about delivery! Keep up that great attitude of love, respect and compassion for others Elissa and Sal! The world should have more people like you two. read more

I've been shopping at Cost Plus this holiday season a few times, and tonight I just wanted to give a shout out to a cashier, Chris, who was terrifically patient with me while I was checking out and couldn't get my coupon to come up on my phone. There was such a line waiting too, but he said to relax, don't rush...they will get their turn. He was laughing with the couple before me too. He just has the right attitude for anyone shopping during this crappy year with Christmas two weeks away. My husband says this is what you get when Home Goods travels around the world and comes back with a lot of crap. I LOVE it though... THey have so many unique toys, food items, furniture etc. At Christmas a majority of the stocking stuffers the fam loved came from here. Sadly I went here to buy chairs for our dining room table and sadly they were out of stock of the four different style chairs I was interested in buying. This store is a cross between Trader Joe's and Pier 1 Imports. You can find cool and unusual things from around the world. Although I wish they had more edible products it's still an interesting place to scope out. If you sign up for their explorer program, you get coupons for $10off of $30 and stuff. read more

Writing a review about the unique products World Market sells from around the world is stating the obvious! What isn't so obvious and worth a Yelp review is the excellent customer service given by the staff, especially Christopher, during this holiday season. I have been inside this store many times in the past few weeks shopping for the holidays. Regardless of the number of people asking questions, the length of the check out line or the chaos inside the store, I have always been treated kindly and respectfully by the staff. Yesterday (day before Christmas Eve) the level of customer service went from excellent to exceptional!! I wanted to return extra wines that I had purchased the day before. I approached the first register upon arrival and was asked to stand in line to make the return. The attended offered to keep my box of six wines by the register as I stood in line. I was also advised that the manager would have the final word on if I could return the wine bottles. I stood in the long line that had wrapped around the store. Once it was my turn to make the return, the attended (Christopher) told me that he had already talked to the manager and that I could proceed with the return. He also took the time to explain to me that the reason why they accept returns on case by case basis is because sometimes customers leave the wine in their cars under the son and cause them to go bad. I really appreciated the explanation Christopher provided me. I also really appreciated Christopher talking to the manager about my return before it was my turn to speed up the process! Not having to wait additional time to speak to the manager was amazing! Excellent customer service!! Good work!! read more

I have shopped at this store over the years as the store carries unique furniture, food items and items for the kitchen including unique gift items. The employees have never been overly helpful but until last Wednesday, I never had a bad experience in the store. The manager was rude when we stopped her and asked for assistance, stating she was helping another customer and no one was in that area. The clerk in the check out line was rude and obnoxious when we tried to exchange an item even with the receipt. Do yourself a favor and find another store to frequent, skip this one, I know that I will be. read more

We purchased 6 chairs originally here and 2 were defective so we went back again to replace them but then another one was defective just returned it again today. There isn't a customer service rep at all and we get stuck with 2 ridiculous young boys telling us they can't "hold" the chair in the store until the person who was on his way of a 5 minute drive away with the original card comes to receive the money. When the card holder came he then had to join the long line all over again, very stupid system. Pros : different varieties of products you won't find in normal stores. Cons : really not a good place furniture -defective products about 40% of the time -horrible customer service Will never go back. read more

Ordered and paid for two summer clearance outdoor chair pads online for curbside pickup, but the next day received email that only one was available. Called the store to check on the issue, spoke with Sal, which is when I found out there was a glitch in the computer system (another customer had purchased same items online several days before i did but had not picked up the items yet, yet it was still showing availability because of that). After my phone call, the same customer coincidentally came in to pick up their purchase, but once looking at the item, ended up deciding on a different color. Sal called me immediately to let me know and that customer changed their mind and both cushions were now available. I was so pleased with the extra care and taking the time to call me since he knew I really wanted the items. He had set it aside from me, along with the remainder of my order that I had purchased online. That, to me, is something that shows you really care about your customers. I live kinda far away, so I've never been to the Glendale store. When i walked in that same day to pick up my items, everyone was very friendly and helpful. I also noticed that they carry more merchandise than the store nearby my home, or so it seems. I am very thankful that Sal took the time to call me, as I now have new cushions for my outdoor chairs. I needed some glass lanterns for a rather intense project I was working on. I searched high and low, over yonder hill and through the woods. I just couldn't find the ones I needed. Someone suggested Cost Plus. I don't know why I didn't think of that. They had a ton of lanterns, candles, pots, hanging baskets, gift cards and everything I could ever dream of. I love this chain! I have been a Cost Plus World Market fanatic since I was a kid! They always have something unique from various parts of the world. So when I moved to Glendale, I was excited to see that they have a location here with such friendly employees! I especially love their triple-milled Portuguese rose bar soap...but, on a recent excursion, I discovered this location's extensive children's section near the front of the store! I recently purchased Melissa & Doug's Smarty Pants Kindergarten Mastery flash cards for my youngest son and he adores them! My oldest loves his lime green home crystal growth set and I love that it has the dual benefit of teaching him about basic minerals and how they interact with one another. I bought pillows and was told I didn't need my receipt to return my items...they can just me up. When I came to return they said my purchases weren't in the system. They offered a store credit which I didn't want. I explained that they should accommodate my request since I was informed I didn't need the receipt to return. He (Elliott) said that it wasn't their fault I didn't bring a receipt. The fact they weren't willing to work with me, even after I showed pictures of me arranging the pillows in the store on Oct 14. All tags on, etc. I recommend not coming to this location bc they are inflexible. read more

The wines are organized by region and also by flavor type. They're generally affordable, so this is a good place for new wine drinkers to experiment. They have a good selection of furniture, but the glassware selection isn't as extensive as the Cost Plus near Rosemead in PAsadena. The staff I dealt with was friendly and helpful. read more

I needed to get a table, chairs and lamp for a living room. I walked in in a melancolony mood. I found a good option and my mood improved. I found a sales person who helped me order it! Hooray!! I was leaving town soon and I got a message saying the chairs were delayed. I went in and spoke with Elyssa. She looked up the info she could but all I could do was wait. The table came in. I bought the lamp. The chairs still didn't come. Elyssa really sympathized and when I went in again, she remembered me!!! She said the truck was delayed a day and would come in on Thursday. I didn't contact them - was going to wait until Monday. I got a phone call from Elyssa on Friday saying the chairs were in and were tucked away for me! This note puts it mildly but Elyssa knew the nervousness of the time crunch and if the chairs didn't come, all would have to be returned. When I walked in today, Elyssa knew who I was and got the manager's help and loaded the two chairs into my Honda Accord. I am one very happy shopper! Thank you so much, Elyssa!!!! You rock! this store is like the polar opposite of the cost plus in pasadena. it's huge and well-stocked, and the staff is friendly and helpful. i gave tim a list of the furniture items i wanted and he went to go check on them. he came back and told me they had everything except one item (a dresser), but he was going to double-check for me again in the stockroom. he also told me they should get more in two weeks. he suggested i avoid the delivery company because of their exorbitant fees. he told me he thought i could fit most of the pieces i bought in my car and said it was fine when i asked if i could make multiple trips if i needed to do so. he also told me about the discount available if i used the store credit card and made sure i received a rain check for the dresser i wanted and checked me out himself. now that's what i call service! also, as a bonus, a cute filipino guy asked for my digits here. this may be my new favorite store. read more

I just wanted to call out the manager, Sal Cruz, for his excellence service and hope the upper management recognizes his fantastic work. I was in the store on 2-28-2022 evening to purchase a dining table and it turns out there was only 1 left which was the floor model. Since it was a floor model, the dining table was already built. Sal helped me to carry the table to my car and gave me the tools to disassemble it so that I could put that in my car. Since it was already late in the evening (after 7pm) I couldn't finish that on time before the store closed and so I asked him to move the table back to the store and I would arrange Lugg to pick it up the next day. The whole time he was very patient and was nice to work with. I could tell he was super busy and was pulled in a million directions by different customers and staff and yet he still kept his cool. I really appreciate the patience he had and I think this should be commended for. read more

I ordered a rattan day bed that was missing parts and when I called and spoke to Peter who is in charge of the furniture he was absolute delight to work with. He treated me with respect and empathy. Went to World Market today in Glendale and it's so nice and clean and well maintained. But o want to give a special shout out to Chris or "Topher" who was the sole employee available to check people out and my friend and I had many many items EACH and he was kind and happy and even gave some cooking tips for some of the items we bought. I love World Market SO SO much and it hurts me to write a negative review. This review doesn't reflect the products at all, just the service I received at the Glendale location. I ordered a sofa online for in store pick up and was extremely excited when I got the email that said it was ready. The night I went to get it, the box was unfortunately too big to fit in my SUV, so the nice gentleman helping me said he'd take care of all the paperwork and put it to the side so I could just come tomorrow with a truck and quickly pick it up. The next day is when I had a terrible experience with customer service. It was about an hour to closing and the store didn't have many customers, but I still had to chase someone down to get some help. I gave the employee my order number, told him someone put it to the side last night and I was here to just pick up the sofa. He said okay and went to the back. 20 minutes later, he comes back out with a box that wasn't mine and he tells me, "having a hard time finding your order, found another customer's first. Give me a few minutes with them and I'll continue helping you out." He goes back for another 10 min, comes out looking super confused, still no trace of my sofa. He calls someone to help him, I think it was a manager, who eventually comes to help him another 10 min later. Manager goes in there, comes out looking super annoyed and says that my sofa has been pushed to the back and that it will take at least 30 min to get it out. We tell them we have someone outside waiting with their truck to help us and they've already been waiting for a long time, and he replies, "nothing we can do about it." Not even an apology, instead this guy has the audacity to be annoyed at us. I get that it was frustrating and he probably had an already bad day, but I'm a customer who had done nothing wrong in this situation. Instead of being aggravated at the customer, if anyone there had been more communicative instead of disappearing into the back for 10-20 min at a time and offering any sort of an apology, I wouldn't have written this review. This is the only negative experience I've had with this store, but no one had even apologized for the inconvenience the entire time we were there, it was ridiculous. read more

This is a HUGE Cost Plus and they have the best selection of furniture and home decor that I've come across. The store is really well organized and the employees are super friendly and helpful. They helped us put a dining table on hold at the Pasadena location. I got shocked that the product I bought from this store was expired already. I bought a cookie butter and when I opened it the taste was already bad and when I checked the date it's already expired. When I went back to exchange it they don't have those anymore so I got a different product with a $2 difference and hoping that they will just waive the $2 difference of the price but they didn't do it. I asked them why do you sell expired products and they only said I'm sorry. They didn't offer something to cover up with their mistake. So be careful when you buy something from this store please always check the expiration date. read more

I love, love, love Cost Plus! My bf and I had hoofed it (the long way - Thanks Google Maps! Grr!) from The Galleria, but it was well worth the trip. There are always so many things to look at. Housewares, furniture, food - all things from around the world. If I had a house, I'd definitely come here to decorate my home. This is also a great place to just browse. I went there during xmas sales and they had wonderful xmas decorations. Gid quality hand made soups, friendly costumer service. This place is a gem, not only because of the products that they provide and the layout of the store, but it's employees. One employee I'd like to point out is Paul, I came in the store and right away I was greeted with a big smile and a warm Hello, he asked us what he can do to help, we told him we were looking for some specific spices that we need to cook a special dish for a business event. He took us where the spices were and help us sort through them, he also gave his opinion based on his cooking experience which will pair with our dish. I hardly ever write reviews on Yelp but I felt like I needed to for the Glendale Cost Plus World Market. My experience there on Monday evening was absolutely spectacular and they need to be commended for their commitment to excellence and going above and beyond for the customer. Before I wax eloquent about the amazing experience I had, here are the names of the stellar employees that took care of me: Manager: ELLIOT, Associates: TOPHER, ISIS, and TRACIE. So, I had been hired by a production designer last minute to help dress some sets for filming and we were looking for a sort of "sleek vintage" look and we immediately thought of World Market as they have a variety of modern takes on classic vintage looks. The only problem was that I was called at 8PM on a Monday night for a Tuesday morning shoot (as I said it was crazy last minute) and the World Market in Glendale closes at 9PM. After a bit of back and forth with the PD we decided that I'd book it over there and try and pull some options before they closed. After wading through a sea of Los Angeles traffic, I ended up arriving there at 8:50PM.... TEN MINUTES BEFORE THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO CLOSE. I was embarrassed to ask but I talked TOPHER and ISIS about giving me some time to look around and FaceTime with the production designer to decide on furniture, lights, and art to decorate the sets with. To my surprise and delight, they said, "no problem at all" with smiles on their faces and went above and beyond to help me find what I needed and even put up with the production designer going back and forth about different items. ELLIOT even accommodated us by digging around in the stock room to try and find other options for some items that had been sold out. Long story short, I was in the World Market store for 45 MINUTES past their closing time. I felt absolutely awful about it but everyone who helped me there kept reassuring me that "it was alright, they were there to help, they wanted us to get what we needed, etc." It was an amazing shopping experience that showed how key it is to have a team of people that care about their customers and are willing to go the extra mile with smiles on their faces. i love cost plus. although parking here can be a pain, once you get into the store you forget about the outside world. the wine selection is great and they also have a good selection of beers, nicer teas and coffee. take time to look through the food stuffs because there are some good and interesting little gems hidden on those shelves. there are lots of gift items and furniture. a lot of the stuff does have an asian flair as previously mentioned.there are other items from africa as well. many of the foodstuffs are european but if you look closely there's a little bit of everything from everywhere. you can find a few unique items not available at other stores. i've decided that it's going to be my one stop shop for all my christmas gifts. things to try: beers of the world cadbury chocolates german bread-if you're big on the grainy shit marzipan candy JAFFA CAKES and/or jammie dodgers holiday favorites: baumkuchen- a german xmas cake and glogg which is a swedish holiday drink -also check out their selection of liquor filled chocolates..they tend to have many more during the holidays read more

I can not find anything to complain about when dropping into this place. The store is big enough to feel like you can find almost anyting there, but not so big that you feel like you can't find what you are looking for. The staff was friendly and ready to assist. My wife and I wanted to get some odd-snacks for a in-house movie date we were doing, we came up with Candied Bacon Soda Pop with Pepper Cheese stuffed Okra. It was a interesting combo but fun and affordable none the less. We spent a hour in there laughing and "Oh-la-la- ing" at all the cool things this place offered. I love World Market. It has a great selection of products - from food, to wine, to dinnerware, to furniture...etc. I love how they have lots of international foods too. The only reason that I didn't give this particular store 5 stars is because it is not as nice as other stores I have visited - it is a little messy in the kitchen/dining section, some of the prodcuts are banged up, and it doesn't have as much as other stores. read more
