You can never go wrong with Porto's. Always great for any event, gathering, etc. You have the option to order ahead of time for pick up if you don't want to risk standing in their long lines, which move pretty quickly. My go-tos are their cheese rolls, guava rolls, and potato balls. Their tres leches cake is my absolute favorite cake and always get it for my birthdays. Their entree options are pretty solid as well. Their ropa vieja plate is my favorite which comes with stewed beef, rice, beans, and plantains. Plenty of parking options. The metered parking by the restaurant is usually taken but there are lots of parking structures nearby. read more

I touched down in the LA area at 7 AM and I was looking for a great spot for breakfast. AI recommended Porto's bakery and Café because of its popularity and the fact that they had a location close to my hotel. I was so impressed! It's obviously a very busy restaurant, but they have two locations to order and they move the line so quickly because you first order from the bakery and then you can order sandwiches and coffee when you get to the register. For dine in your order is brought to your table. I wanted to try a sampling of everything so we ordered two different breakfast sandwiches, a cinnamon roll and two of their Cuban inspired breaded potato balls. We added two coffees to our order and our total ended up being somewhere around $30 which I felt was amazing. I was so glad that we ordered a variety of food options and baked items and wished I would've had the appetite to eat more because everything I had was delicious and unique and everything in the cases looked just as delicious. The famous Porto's. Everywhere you go in Glendale, you see people with Porto's boxes. Of course I had to go there. I found it right down the street with ample parking on the street. Once inside, it is huge with seemingly 2 areas that look similar, although one side says "Bakery". The bakery side is even bigger with more choices. In the middle is where you can order coffee. In the bakery, you can can choose breakfast sandwiches and I ordered a chorizo breakfast sandwich which was very good! We also got their famous potato balls which have meat and cheese inside. The tricky part is that they give you a buzzer and you actually have to go to another part of the store (the other side and toward the back) to pick up your sandwich. I found this place to have beautiful looking pastries which taste very good. It's convenient and the entire place is a machine with very efficient workers that get you in and out. One of my all time favorite bakeries, and Porto's locations. Always very crowded, but worth it for the food. We sat outside because there was no indoor seating available. It was quite hot and close to the road, but there weren't other options. Very lively ambiance. I usually don't come here to dine in, just order bakery items, but their bakery and fresh food is both equally good. We ordered the ropa vieja plate, a sandwich and matcha latte (the jasmine blue one). The ropa vieja is one of my favorite things to get, the meat is incredibly tender and juicy. I love their rice as well, which pairs well with the meat and beans. I'm not a big fan of the plantains or caramelized banana that comes with it, just because I cant get used to the texture and sweetness. Their sandwiches are top tier, I usually get the Medianoche which is excellent ! The matcha was also pretty good, more milky and not a strong tea flavor. Still a good drink! Recommend Porto's for everyone! For bakery items, our favorite is the cheese rolls and the potato balls. They also have excellent cakes. The Dulce de Leche and Hazelnut Besito cookies made the PERFECT snack and were not too sweet. Very disappointing experience. I placed my order the night before, around 10 PM, and scheduled it to be ready at 6:50 AM. The whole point of ordering ahead was to save time before work. However, when I arrived , my order was still not ready. When I told the employee that my pickup time was 6:50 AM, her response was, "Oh, I didn't know that." That is not an acceptable excuse when customers are relying on scheduled pickup times. To make matters worse, my coffee was made incorrectly. I paid extra for an additional shot and for condensed milk , but my drink didn't have any or any dulce de leche in it. Because I was already running late for work due to the delay, I didn't have time to return and have the drink corrected. I paid for items I didn't receive and was inconvenienced by an order that was not prepared at the promised time. Overall 3.5 stars I had heard amazing things about this bakery so while we lived in LA, we had to try this spot! The parking wasn't too bad, and this spot was crowded! I mean the line was about 40 mins or so, but we were determined. Inside gets loud and busy. We tried a few of their baked goods, the smaller cakes (tiramisu and something with guava), along with their potato balls. The food didn't live up to the hype in my opinion. Perhaps i felt like that becuase the wait wasn't worth it, but i had mixed feelings about the flavor and the taste of everything. Always jumping when you go in and yet the service is always prompt and friendly. The people here are great. The food, sort of goes without saying, is always amazing. Always have to get some OG potato balls, a few delicious pastries, and you are set. But this time I actually got a plate, with some marinated chicken, Cuban rice and beans, and it was delicious. Okay guava smoothie is the best smoothie I've ever had! Porto's s like a magical food court with multiple places to order, a coffee bar and lots of seating. A lot of the pastries are displayed for you and come out hot and/or fresh. A breakfast and lunch menu as well. There is typically a long line but customer service is good and fast I ordered 1 potato ball and a guava smoothie but the lady charges me for 2 and gave me 2 so I think she misheard me.
