Visited this location a few months back and I was absolutely surprised and overjoyed with the selections they had for home decor. Fabulous place for any earthy worldly products you desire. First off I just want to say that this is an amazing store with such a huge selection. This is me and my wife's first time in the store because we moved to Monterey recently and we were looking for some furniture. Robert, one of the managers was extremely helpful in helping us find a piece that we really loved. I'm not usually a big credit card guy, but he told us that the store recently went from 20% to 30% off your whole order if you applied... We were extremely satisfied to save more than a couple hundred dollars. Robert not only saved us money but he basically gave us a tour around the store and now we come all the time for any little thing that we need (especially the snacks) we absolutely love it here and all of the associates. You can never go wrong shopping here. Some prices are higher than others but if you're looking foe a specialty item and it's not in your area, here's the place to go. For example, I live in Hawaii, so I would never buy anything that they sell from Hawaii. The prices are definitely inflated. But for certain German items or wines that I can't get in Honolulu, I'd pay for it here and bring it back. This is always a fun shop to look for worldly items and to try something new. read more

Yesterday, my husband and I bought two chairs and a table from World Market in Seaside. We got home, and my husband began to put them all together. After taking the whole box apart and getting all the parts out, we discovered that the chairs were not the chairs that we had purchased. We gave them a call on the phone and told them about having the wrong chairs. She told me to come back in and exchange them for the right ones. Heidi, felt so bad, and apologized several times and wanted to make it right. She took off $100 and she gave us assembled chairs. What a blessing! That made my husband smile big time. I have purchased everything from furniture to chocolate from Germany here. When I first purchased my home I furnished it with furniture, bamboo blinds, unique lighting and lamps, dishware, housewares, and imported rugs bought from here. After over a decade, the items are still going strong! So not only are the home furnishings unique, they are long-lasting, high-quality, and affordable. You can choose to be a member and sign up to what they call "Explorer Rewards". By becoming a member you are signed up to their email mailing list that entitles you to coupon promotions and being notified first and foremost regarding sales. It is interesting to note that the name "Cost Plus World Market" is because since their first store, items were sold at cost, plus ten percent. Their wide array of international goods makes this place a store where you don't simply make a quick stop to pick something up quickly, then leave. You are encouraged to peruse their aisles. The lighting is soft and warm and inviting, the aisles are setup as if you were in a market in Bali, and the reception from the employees is warm as well. You are greeted upon entering. Whoever is working the floor will acknowledge you as you browse and ask you if you need assistance. During my last visit they even had a coffee bar where you could try their imported coffee. It's not simply a market, it is an experience. This store is usually my go to for when I need to purchase a gift. With a little creativity and thought, you can create gift baskets that even the pickiest person will appreciate. Also when I am craving quality chocolate this is my number one go to. My favorite is German chocolate. The chocolate is smooth, creamy, and rich. If you are a chocolate lover this is the place for you. They have an entire isle dedicated to chocolate! They have so many varieties of chocolate including chocolate covered bacon! I haven't personally tried chocolate covered bacon but it would be a great gag gift for a chocolate lover. Their grocery section has goods from all over the world. Looking for a spice like saffron which is not sold in your neighborhood grocery store? No problem. They have saffron here among other hard-to-find imported spices and groceries. Looking to be adventurous and cook a dish from another country? This is the perfect place to obtain the ingredients you need. Looking for wine that not only tastes great but has a lovely bottle design? Look no further. I have been known to reuse an empty bottle of wine as a vase due to the cool graphics and design on the bottle. For those bargain hunters, I would advise that you not only sign up to their email mailing list but be sure to look at the very end of each isle as well for items on clearance. JAMES IS AWESOME!!! We went in here on a very cold, rainy, windy day not expecting to buy much. We saw a large piece of furniture we couldn't leave without, and after he jumped through hoops to get it for us, we couldn't fit it in our car. Mind you, he was in a short sleeve shirt trying to help us fit it in the car. Since we couldn't fit it in with the box, he helped us open it and put it in piece by piece. On top of that, he told us about becoming members for free AFTER the cashier rang us up and didn't tell us. He went out of his way to process a return so we could sign up and save an additional $45 off the price. Cheyenne in the furniture department is extremely helpful and knowledgeable, we really appreciated her help with purchasing our dining room table, bench, and chairs. Unfortunately they were out of stock of matching chairs due to a discontinued item but we were able to mix-n-match and find a substitute that we also really liked. (And they matched the price!) I even called ahead to ask her some questions and she took down my number and called me back. Superior customer service - I was so pleased! This location is ok. I love the products at Cost Plus. Seriously. I mean, no matter what kind of decor you have, you'll find something here to match. Here's the breakdown. The goodies: The staff here is super nice, friendly, helpful. I've never had to wait in line longer than a minute or two. (Safeway in Del Mar Oaks I've waiting like 25 min.) They have a good sized food and wine selection. The bathroom decor area is always well stocked. Ditto with the wall art department. The not so goodies: Compared to my usual Cost Plus that I frequented A LOT - this place is lacking in the kitchen department. Sure, the area is large, but it's not well laid out so they can't display all of the cool products well. Also, it feels like there's a lot they don't carry. I did not want to bring it all the way back to Santa Cruz (I live in PG) and my arm is in a sling. With the corroboration between the SC and Seaside store and me taking some photos of the damage I received a refund in Seaside. This is the only place in town (other than the EXPENSIVE candy shop in Carmel) that sells Violet Crumble. Violet Crumbles are the best candy bar in the whole wide world... I love them dearly and when I crave candy, I crave Violet Crumbles. Cost Plus has a pretty great selection of international candy... I'd much rather go back to Australia and get a fresh one... but since I don't think I can make it back there any time soon... you'll see me in the back of Cost Plus picking up a few of these from time to time. The best thing about this place is that it doesn't employ the super annoying person who works at the Cost Plus World Market in Salem/Keizer, OR. Seriously, I would dread going there because this young woman was so painful-yet-not-quite-sincerely cheerful and socially awkward (I am socially awkward so I am usually sympathetic but this person was beyond my pity). When she was working (which seemed to be every time I visited), she would find me approximately a half dozen times per visit to ask if I needed help. Gawd, no. Anyhow, her absence makes my heart grow fonder for this company! I can shop more peacefully. And giggle at the British foods with "cock" and "dick" in their names (I never said I was mature).
