I needed a room divider and I was concerned about assembling it myself. Last night, I went to Cost Plus and talked to Brent, floor manager, about my situation. He personally inspected the box he brought to the floor and showed to me how to do it. He took the time to place the box in my car and folded the back seats so the box could fit. This morning I put it together. The price was right and it looks great in my living room. I highly recommend this store to any one looking for that extra help/information and the selections are great. read more

We love this World Market! We've had nothing but positive experiences here. Staff is friendly and go out of their way to assist you. We had wonderful experiences with Hillary the manager. She is accommodating, helpful, and even discounted our new coffee table that was a floor model. I think his name was Brent, or something like that, but he was also very helpful. They both wrapped up the table for us because it was raining and helped load it. We ended up getting a great deal because we stacked another coupon and gift card. I hate it when store managers act like they personally own the merchandise and won't even think about discounting. Nothing but praise coming from here. We will be back! read more

Ok... Went there on a Sat night just browsing for possible decoration ideas for my studio... Got there at 8:50pm and just wanted to do a quick browse thru to see if there was something that would work for my place... At first I thought it was great that EVERYONE was asking if I needed help or if there was something in particular I was looking for... I said " no thanks, just looking" I grabbed a couple tea lights and proceeded to check a couple things out... And again I got the "can I help you?" I Said "no, I'm good just looking..." I moved on to the dish wear and the manager came up to me AGAIN and asked me if I could be helped. I said "no, I'm just looking around..." She continued to tell me that it was 9pm and they were going to be closed... I said no problem... That I just wanted to take a quick "look-thru" she was quite rude... I proceeded to Check out... My card wouldn't work so it took a couple minutes to put the charge thru... I finally got out to my car and I looked at he time and it was 9:02pm... WHAT???? Are you so ready to get rid of people???? This is one of my favorite stores! I could literally spend a couple hours in this place. I always check up on what new jewelry they have from around the world and I always find the coolest shell earrings, or bollywood inspired jewelry here! I also love their candle selection! They have their own line of candles and the Indonesian teak is the best smelling candle for home! They also have an amazing wine and food selection from around the world. Best place ever!!! You can never go wrong coming here. I love going in and looking at their food section. The candies and chocolates are amazing. I love buying candy I've never heard of before from other countries and try it with my friends. This store is perfect to try new things from different parts of the world. If only my family would get a clue, that a gift card from here would be one of my favorite gifts. This is my toy store. Being a kitchen gadget, tool, dish, cup and serving dish addict, I love shopping here. Since I do a lot of food photography, I always find cool props for my shots. The International section rocks, too. On occasion, some of the groceries are close to the expiration date, so I check that carefully. Great hard-to-find gourmet products here at very reasonable prices. Why I never shopped in the bath section is beyond me, but there are some great items for guest bathroom. I used to love coming here, this place had been one of the most unique places I would come for gifts and just to spoil myself but lately it just seems like they are not trying anymore. I was there a few times during the holidays and they definitely did not have enough people working there, only two registers open at some times with a line of people leading back. I understand things get hectic during the holidays but it was not very busy it was just so short staffed...I dont remember it being that bad in previous years. Going back to the short staff, it looks like they have lost a lot of familiar faces there but I did recognize a few. When I went I typically saw Brent and Vaiya who are always a great help and super friendly but they're also running around and being stretched thin most of the time. I think their old boss must have left, an old friendly French man who was also running around and helping customers but I have not seen him in over a year. I assume theres a new boss but I have never once seen them and guessing they're either out of there early or never on the floor. It's a shame too because this store always felt like they went the extra mile in customer service but with management that does not seem to care and the fresh faces still learning it definitely does not feel too different from shopping at a grocery store. I have noticed they even removed customer feedback from their receipts which probably took away incentive to provide the same service they once had. Sadly enough my boyfriend and I made a bit of a game out of who is not going to be there by the next time we stop by. Without that uniqueness of customer service there is not much reason to go here over many other places. Home Goods is probably one of the most similar places and has a nice selection of food and similar items. My boyfriend really enjoyed coming along with for their beer selection but it just seems to get smaller and smaller every time we stop by, almost everything they have is available at the local grocery stores, we actually started going to grocery outlet for beer! Even though they are considered to be more of a bargain place, the beer selection and prices put World Market to shame! It looks like World Market is putting most of their efforts into wine but when you can get better prices, deals, and selection from places such as Costco, Target, and Safeway there really is no point to grab any wine or beer here. That being said, their food selection is okay these days, there are a few unique things I cant find easily elsewhere like their German pickles, but for the most part stuff like their Asian foods and candy can be found locally and for less than world market charges. Their furniture is alright. Not too much real expensive items that will break the bank but you get what you pay for. I have a day bed from that you pull down the arms for extra space that has held up well although the cushion has gotten flat and last I checked they dont sell any replacement cushions. I also got a few dining chairs awhile back, one chair had not been drilled but my boyfriend didnt want to make a trip to exchange so we did it ourselves and its holding up okay. Nothing special in that regard but good if theres a furniture sale and you need to get multiples they will likely have it in stock. Overall it just does not feel the same. With all the competition from places locally it's sad to think that this store might not be here much longer but at this point it does not really feel like it would carry the same level of loss it would have a few years ago aside from the fun things they get during the holidays. Had people like Brent and Vaiya not been there helping on my visits I would not have felt like I was shopping at the same place and I gave an extra star thanks to them giving great service when they could. I really think the low retention of employees and their skeleton crew staffing says a lot about whoever is in charge of the store now or even what they're doing at corporate.
