I had fractured my ankle a few weeks ago so they got me a wheel chair and helped me climb onto the operating table. Dr. Stephen Pascal was excellent from assessment all the way to post-op, and the actual surgery was excellent, too! I can actually see 20,15 in an eye that was previously 20,200+ and had no post-op complications. I'll be getting my right eye done next week, and feel very confident that I will have a similar experience.

That would not have been a problem however days went by with one sentence questions which I provided prompt answers to in order to move the process along. I had a single Botox injection by Dr. Loman that produced unsatisfactory results; a heavy "Frankenstein" eyebrow appearance. I contacted the office but never received a callback. I had to wait until my subsequent touch-up appointment to inform her of my concern/dissatisfaction and she agreed it would be best not to do anything more. After my yearly eye exam with Dr. Loman she referred me to other opthalmology practices. When I asked why she simply replied and repeated that I would be happier elsewhere despite asking she be specific. I was always happy with the eye care I received, and only unhappy with the Botox outcome. I exercised my patient right to speak up and within a few months the practice sent me a form letter dismissing me as a patient AFTER 50 YEARS - from 1975 to January 2025. I replied with a personalized letter to the eye practice "firing" them and documented that Dr. Loman took the Botox matter personally which interfered with her ability to remain professional. This is certainly not the same Eye Physicians of the East Bay that I experienced over the last 50 years!

Dr. Hyver apparently sold his brand to some other doctors so even though they kept his name, he no…read morelonger works there. The initial eye exam felt like an assembly line where I was passed from one person to the next, then ended with a salesman-type (they called him a counselor) who was basically a closer. I felt like I was buying a car! That said, everyone was very pleasant and they worked around my schedule to get my surgery done before I left the country. The surgery itself was super fast and painless (albeit a bit unnerving psychologically, but that part only lasted a few seconds). I got the SMILE surgery, a slightly less invasive technique than Lasik. There was a tiny bit of irritation after the numbness wore off, but the next morning I was fine, and within a few days my vision was quite clear. I only got one eye done, so one eye is near sighted and the other is now far sighted, and my brain stitches the images together so I feel like I have 20/20 vision. It's incredible! I need prescription readers now, though, so I can do my up-close stuff without my new far-sighted eye feeling wonky. It was expensive but overall I'm happy with the results. Would recommend. Bonus: As the surgeon got ready to perform the minute-long operation, he put on an 80s station and Sade's song Smooth Operator came on. I asked if he puts this song on each time he operates, but he said it was a coincidence.

They carried my mother, in her wheelchair, to the second floor, all the while with a positive and cheerful attitude. After the appt, they carried her back down to the ground floor.
