Okay, as far as La Quintas go, this properly is gold standard. Very well maintained, warm and friendly staff, comfortable and clean rooms, and enough variety with the free breakfast. PLUS, this LQ doesn't have a pet fee and we were traveling with our two pups. All of the LQ's back in the day did not have fees and now the fees are all over the place depending on location so it was a really nice amenity to not have one. The rates here are VERY good for the quality of accommodation delivered. One of our best stays at a chain hotel (if not the best) during our 3 week road trip. Oh and pretty good coffee down in the lobby as far as hotel lobby coffee goes. read more

Purchased one night through Priceline, a king room. The reviews I read said "clean". Set up everything on line, was offered late check out. Seemed perfect. The guy at the front desk was friendly and efficient. Then I got to the room. At first glance looked OK. But the details are the story. In the bathroom the toilet seat lid was up. The wallpaper was peeling from the wall near the tub. The tub had rust (?) stains covering the bottom. Each pillow on the bed was a different lumpy shape. (I ended up getting a blanket from my car and sleeping under that.) I couldn't get the refrigerator door open. So jammed shut it almost tipped over the cabinet it was in. There is a desk facing the bed, the side of the desk was covered in some sort of splatter. On the desk top were oily palm prints. I always carry Clorox wipes, so because I was tired and didn't want to go through the hassle of changing rooms, I wiped down the surfaces myself. We stayed here for a work trip my husband had and was pleasantly surprised at how much nicer it was than we thought it would be. We didn't pick the place and normally stay at Marriot beans for points but was thankful for this stay. The king room was spacious and had extra seats and a couch which was nice so our toddler had space to play. It had a microwave and fridge, also important when traveling with a toddler, and the free breakfast helped save some money on food (although more vegan options would be appreciated - potatoes with no cheese, coconut yogurt, etc). :) It's also pet friendly and we appreciated the pool and fitness center. Lastly it's next door to a Starbucks which I loved and on the other side has a Fred Meyer which made getting groceries easy. Definitely a great place to stay. read more

Great housekeeping service. Front desk customer service was great especially Keisha. Good airport hotel for the night if you do not need internet. Walking distance to grocery, Costco, shops, and quick eateries. Sunset was gorgeous from my room. The only bad thing is the WiFi connection and when I called the front desk for help, I think it was Ethan or Evan who answered, he made it my problem. He said it's a full house tonight that's why the WiFi is (but I only saw less than 20 cars parked outside) and that I should call maintenance in the morning. Really?!? Lol. First time checking in at this location, this is our last leg of our "La Quinta" journey as we are trying to find a replacement chain for our car trips. Since our regular chain is becoming more and more "NOT" pet friendly, we are checking out what La Quinta has to offer. As a Canadian, Bellingham is such a nice town across the border with so many different places to explore and spend a day or two; the Old Town with it's charm and history, Mount Baker Theatre - oldest historic theatre in the Pacific Northwest, Boulevard Park - a favourite park for us pet owners, the boardwalk brings you close to the ocean and remember to bring your phone to take some great pictures during sunset! Our experience at this property begins with a very friendly staff at the check in counter; Nicky is very efficient and friendly, her professional service reflect the quality of the brand and also the care given to guest. Hotel property: There are amble parking and green area for your pets, doggy station is well kept and stocked, I also noticed that all the La Quintas we have been to during this trip has doggy stations, so when they say they are pet friendly they mean it. Room: As you can see from my photos, we have a separate living and bedroom suite. The room is very spacious and well laid out. All the furnitures were well kept and clean, bedroom is also huge, with a very comfortable king bed. The firmness of the mattress is just perfect for my liking. Pillows were also clean and fresh. Bathroom: Shower's water pressure is just right without being too strong or weak. Towels are clean and fresh smelling. Wet bar: Microwave, Kurig, Mini Fridge; all in good working condition and clean. I spent a good chunk of my early life in the facilities department of a school district. I notice details. The place was spotless, even the parking lot. The room was perfect. Everything worked. Hot water. Even caulking around tub/shower was well done and spotless. We even were upgraded because out room wasn't quite ready. Honestly, a pretty nicely renovated and kept hotel. I would consider coming back. Breakfast was good for a free breakfast. On the second night of our stay we discovered one of the maids ate some of our chocolate, and spit up the hazelnuts and left then on the dresser in our room. Absolutely freaking disgusting. The maids came in and cleaned up on the 2and day with more coffee new towels and cleaned the bathroom (we had previously stayed at a very fancy hotel in spokane for 5 days - and not once did they clean our room or change our towels or bring up more coffee) 5. Wifi very sluggish most of the time. But occasionally has decent bursts at various times of day or night. This is La Quinta's trademark. They never invest much into wifi networking. However this location is one of the better ones (for now) because they have new equipment. Goto hotel WiFi dot com and run a speed test to verify. As far as rooms go. They are very very small unless you get a suite. No shampoo is provided. Other guests have said the same. Mr. H Bains, a Canadian supposedly owns this location. Not surprising. It's already In need of maintenance like repairing the electrical outlets even though the building was finished in 2014. Air con is motion sensor type and they are very flaky. I think it was a mistake to install this.. Lighting is the awful hospital type CFL color fluorescent. They must change it to natural incandescent color CFL or better still, LED. Breakfast is so so. Scrambled egg whites, round pork sausages, etc. I'd rather go to Jack in the Box or Fred Meyer instead. Still, it's edible. There is no coffee in the lobby unlike some locations after breakfast is served. You can feel vibrations on the floor so this might bother light sleepers. Building is cheaply built (not surprising). I've been to many LaQuinta motels and every single one has a lot of issues unlike other chains. Parking is an issue here as well. Often not enough spots. It's best for a quick one night stay. Don't think about parking and flying. I give my review a 3 stars because that's what this hotel really is worth on average. We were lucky so our stay was worth a 3.5 stars. However, don't expect this as I predict this hotel will be neglected very quickly until such time the current owner(s) sell to someone else who (hopefully) will love this place take care of it place in a timely manner. read more

So disgusted. Bed bugs in the room we stayed in, and when we told the clerk he simply moved us to another room and did not refund. We were pretty horrified and insulted. We are so lucky they did not burrow in our clothes or hair, or we could have brought that infestation home. read more

I've stayed here in the past, but after my experience here today, I will never even consider it, nor suggest it to anybody asking for hotel suggestions. My experience today was creepy, unprofessional and most of all, rude. I arrived in the afternoon to pick up a friend who just needed a quick ride to the other side of town. I parked and was waiting in my car when an employee (I'm assuming was the manager by her choice of words) sat right outside my car to smoke a cigarette. I had forgotten my lighter so I got out of my car and politely asked if I could have a light for my own cigarette. She obliged. Then asked if I was a guest at the hotel. I told her no, I was just here to pick up a friend who needed a ride. She then rolled her eyes at me and demanded I tell her my friends name. I politely told her that I don't need to tell her that information, and why would it matter. She told me "Well this is MY hotel so you HAVE to tell me their name". The conversation left me feeling weird, so I quickly got in my car and drove to the other side of the hotel and parked at Starbucks. As soon as I was getting out of my car to go inside and order myself a coffee, the manager appeared again and started taking photos of me and my car. I quickly walked toward the entrence of starbucks to avoid any unwanted confrontation from her. I can't tell you why she would want to take my picture (maybe she thought I was cute, who knows, haha), but overall it made me feel really uneasy and uncomfortable. No idea why an employee would act in such a way, don't they want people to feel safe and comfortable at their hotel? Obviously not. I wont ever be staying there again and I wouldn't suggest anybody to either. read more

The hotel is very nice, in a bit of a rough area with homeless people living around it but the hotel seems to be in good condition. The rooms are nice, small bit nice. Housekeeping didn't come every day or in any regular pattern but when they came it was good. The complimentary breakfast was good! The catch here is that the wifi is terrible the Starbucks wifi actually worked better in our room than the hotel wifi. It actually only works on a couch in the hotel lobby and that is it, so don't count on having the free high speed internet that they advertise. Good hotel and good rate! A good choice for a place to stay if you want to explore Bellingham for a couple of days. read more

We stayed here for two nights while in town to visit with my B&S in-laws. This was my first time driving North of Seattle (neat areas all around) and since I am notoriously geographically challenged, really didn't grasp Bellingham as on the water nor that close to the Canadian Border. My MIL made the rezzy's for this hotel as she and my FIL had stayed here before. Since my nightmare experience with the LQ in Modesto in 2014, I had sworn off this chain, but sometimes I just need to let stuff go. This LQ has been updated lobby wise and has a fresher look than many I have seen before. Both of our rooms were giant- and the bed was decent. The bathroom had been updated but it was very standard and the "freebies" aka- "toiletries you never use but always take" were minimal at best. I did not partake in the complimentary breakfast- and it was the exact same both mornings with cheapskate products. Luckily, this wasn't a problem as there is a Starbuck's in the same parking lot. Speaking of the Buck's- it is the drive-thru kind which makes the egress from the LQ parking kind of a business. We would probably stay here again when coming up if we had dogs with us, but there are other places I would likely stay at first. read more

We planned a last minute trip to Bellingham and called and spoke with Ashley. She was very helpful and found us the best rate. We arrived that same evening from Seattle and she was all smiles. The hotel was very nice and more than what we expected. Unfortunately we did not have the opportunity to enjoy all the amenities La Quinta had to offer. I stayed for a few nights as a get-away. The hotel was wonderful. I just read Nathan's review on here. He didn't have the best experience. I believe that the hotel has been upgraded as a result of comments such as his. For instance, there is now coffee in the lobby and that "water, tubing" type thing wasn't visible in the stairwells as far as I could tell. The staff were friendly and the room was very modern. It had a nice TV, awesome super-easy-to-adjust AC system. It was easy to check in and out. I really like the location of this hotel too. It's right near Fred Meyer and the airport. I guess this only con about the hotel, from my visit, was that it's near a street, so I could hear the traffic a bit. It was not a big deal though, and didn't impact my sleep. read more

His is our second time to have multiple night stays at this hotel. The lobby is very clean and inviting. The rooms are perfect, microwave, refrigerator, big screen TV etc. the beds are so comfortable and the location (situated between a Fred Meyers and a Starbucks, off the freeway enough that you do not hear it at all) makes it a perfect place to stay in Bham. Our big Zoe (a great doodle), piper (a poodle) and Tiki a parrot were all welcomed. Most importantly for us: Sheryl who works in the breakfast area is the sweetest, most genuine, helpful woman ever. Best spot to crash before and after the border. There is a starbucks on their shared lot and a Fred Meyes is in walking distance, super convenient overall. 3rd time I stayed here, the adjacent guests were having an all-night bender and i was too tired and lazy to do anything about it. Well I am not sure the actual quality of the hotel. I made a reservation about a month before my stay. I was to check in on Friday night. It was going to be a late check in (11:00pm ish). I called Thursday during the day talked to the front desk staff made sure they understood I was bringing a dog with me. They verified my reservation and put down the information that I had a dog. I was told though it was not a problem that they were 100% dog friendly. Well then Friday came. The hotel called me around 10am and wanted to verify that I was still coming this evening. I repeated all the information I gave them the day before. The lady I talked with did not appear to have the information that I had stated less then 24 hours before. Well I arrived at the hotel around 11:15PM on Friday ready to get to sleep for a meeting that I had at 7:00AM the next morning. Well when I told the lady at the front desk that I had a reservation. She said "oh we oversold your reservation we actually don't have a room for you". Why would they make a reservation and oversell it? Why would they call to verify my reservation if they had no plans of keeping my reservation? When it oversold why couldn't they just call me and let me know? Well none of these questions end up answered. I was promised a call from the General MAnager Tina. Well that never happened either. Seams like customer service is the last priority at the hotel. If you plan to make a reservation be careful they may or may not keep the reservation with no respect to you. Update: funny how after I post a review the manager emails me. Does not call... all she said was sorry we overbooked because of a booking the came in late Friday's afternoon. What does that have to do with me or my guaranteed reservation that they confirmed twice over the phone? This proves the lack of professionalism at this hotel and the fact that they do not care about customer service or customer reservations. Very nice hotel - it looked like it was very new -Starbucks right across the way and. You can walk to restaurants. Staff was great, my son and his wife have 2 month old twins so they had the crib already set up before we arrived and they gave them a quiet, larger room with my room across the way. Returning from a trip from Vegas, we realized we lost our car keys when we got to the Airport parking! We couldn't find a locksmith to assist us til morning. So, we had to find a hotel nearby. The night only got better once we were helped by the Front Desk receptionist. Kyna was approachable, friendly and able to check us in rightaway. The Hotels interior has a modern metropolis decor which we always appreciate. It was affordable, CLEAN and easy to navigate. Because we couldn't get a locksmith to come out in time before check-out, the hotel extended our time with no hassle! I would definitely recommend this hotel to someone who is looking to stay in the Bellingham area or who has lost their car keys in the middle of the night! read more

Our stay at La Quinta was great! Very friendly staff, and quick to check us in. There were plenty of bell carts, and our room was spacious and clean. It had recently been painted, and the bathroom still had a lingering chemical smell, but I can overlook that for a freshly renovated room. We loved the ever-present cookies and coffees/teas in the lobby, which was appreciated after a long day. The breakfast was also good. Always fresh and plenty to choose from. Recently updated decor and breakfast included in my rate...there are makeup cleansing wipes in the bathroom...super tidy and clean...free wi-if, all the lamps have charging plugs for you to charge your devices...great friendly customer service...automatic heat/cooling unit...should I keep raving? I originally booked a different hotel in Bellingham but checked out first thing. La Quinta not only had space they allowed me to check in early to wash up from the previous Horrible Hotel experience. All the staff were quite kind and the room was sparkling clean- thank you Amanda- as well as quiet. I stayed an extra night because of this. Everyone was so sweet to my dog. That's the 2nd La Quinta I stayed at on this trip-both excellent experiences. Only improvement- make sure to tell arriving guest about your little doggy area. All of the staff was exceedingly pleasant and helpful - from the front desk to the breakfast buffet to housekeeping. No matter what anyone says... hands down the best customer service! We were searching for a hotel online that was near Bellingham airport and since our flight arrived at midnight we needed a hotel with 24 hour check in. When we arrived at the airport I called the hotel and they sent a taxi to pick us up. The hotel is about 4 minutes away. When we arrived Brian was working at the front desk. He was so nice and helpful! We couldn't believe how nice he was! He also gave us delicious chocolate chip cookies and pointed us to the hot cocoa and coffee bar as he noticed we were exhausted. We checked out the next morning, lady working was extremely nice as well. The easiest check out ever. 5 days after staying in Leavenworth we came back to this hotel for a night as our flight was at 7:00 am. The girl working was just as nice and helpful!!! She checked us in and was so friendly! Big props to the manager who trains these employees! As far as the hotel it's clean, beds are comfortable, they offer a complementary breakfast, Star bucks is right next door and the airport is a few minutes away! read more

Our baseball team stayed here during a tournament at Bender Fields. Everything was outstanding - from the staff understanding that thirteen 14 year old boys will need extra food during your free breakfast Sunday morning to not having a hissy when they took over the pool. Perfect location for air travel to Bellingham. Close to airport, FredMeyer and Starbucks are walking distance. Clean rooms. Accommodations were beyond my requirements. But best of all the staff was great. I was traveling there for wife's funeral and Melissa sorted through my incoherent confusion with compassion and useful instruction. Other staff members were likewise professional and helpful during a difficult time for me. Staff gets a 10 out of 10.
