Luckily for me, there is an alcohol store that's basically next door to my friend's workplace called Liquorland. As I was waiting for my friend to wind down from her workday activities and to lock up, I made a visit to Liquor Land to see what they had to offer. During my time there, I decided to pick up a bottle of wine to celebrate a milestone in my 50 states marathon journey - 2nd round. Passing half way in a quest as huge as that one deserves some sort of recognition, don't you think? And so, I arrived here around 4:45pm after checking in with my friend. The liquor store was basically empty, since the last customer had exited while I entered the store. The store itself was rather large for its inventory, boasting a large and various assortment of beers, wine, and other assorted drinks that can surprise picky individuals and delight the mass of crowds on a sunny day. The store itself was clean and very methodical in how they shelve the bottles. I eventually purchased a Pinot noir that seemed legitimately good and was under $20. I assumed that I have ice at the hotel, so I didn't need the bottle pre-chilled. Probably cost less too. My time here at Liquor Land Kansa City was fairly brief and lasted about 15 minutes. The service here was good and I didn't get carded either. Probably too old. Lol The overall experience here at Liquor Land Kansas City was short and sweet, while Being cool and awesome at the same time. It was nice that I did not get asked to show Identification, which means I look old enough or just look old. Regardless of what circumstances, it was left at that. The dude at the counter was nice and friendly. I even asked if the most of them, including the one I was purchasing was a twist off top. (I had a fun time trying to get the top off in my hotel room. After even looking up tutorial videos on YouTube, it finally twisted off and I got ice from the hotel ice machine.) I walked through the entire stock of wine and was a little shocked at the prices. Some were cheap and others, not so much. Probably due to the brand or where it came from, selling price of wine can range from $10 to $25+. It was scary to see some over $30 and that's with the current inflationary pressures of 2022. I think 1/4 of the inventory was in the fridge to keep cold and the rest was shelved in the middle of the store. Store itself is nice to navigate and small enough to see everything within 10 minutes. Liquor Land Kansas City is located at 100934 Ambassador Drive near the KCI airport and the Zona Rosa shopping center. They accept major credit cards, as well as cash. For the most part though, having not be carded was a nice thing but that means I'm aging quicker than I realized physically. Ugh and sigh at the same time. I arrived here via Uber but since the area has a lot of parking spaces, you can park where you want to. As far as public transportation goes, you should consult the KC bus authority to make sure you get the routing information good so you can arrive here during normal business hours. For the most part though, celebrating with a bottle of Pinot Noir was a good thing. Running marathons is another good thing too. Just needed a reason to have that Pinot noir for the days we aren't out there taking the miles and naming names. If you are in the area and need alcohol for a special event or just because, consider coming here to Liquor Land near KCI airport. It's a nice quiet store that has a bunch of stuff you may not find anywhere else. 4.0 stars for the overall experience. 4.0 stars for the service and selection. 3.5 stars for the prices. Description of Complaint: Last night on April 12th, 2017 between the times of 8Pm and 9Pm. My…read morefiance went into the store with his uncle and the truck was parked in front of the store and i was in the back seat. My fiance went in and bought 2 Arizona during (Peach and watermelon) than went to the counter with my card to purchase items. He asked for cash back and accidentally pressed $40 instead of $10. So he told the cashier he only needed $10 cash back and put the money back on the card by referring the transaction. The cashier said ok. Then handed him the $10 and the transaction came to 13.00 dollars altogether. The same night the transaction of $43.00 was still pending to clear and by morning the next day it cleared and payment of $43.00 was processed. I called the store after my fiance called and told Ryan the manager and or owner of Worlds Liquor store the situation he began to state that they don't do cash back so someone had to have stolen the money due to the back the transaction would not have went through. So I asked if he he can reculect which of his cashier's was on register between 8pm and 9pm he said yes he knows it's either two people he has in mind I u to him ok ask them or go look at the cameras and see how the transaction went or I can just come all the way up there with the police and have someone arrested for theift. Then he began to ask me to come bring my bank statement so he could look at it and compare there information of the store with the information of the statement. I should not have to get up and pay for a ride to get there and go back to my hotel, when they can pull up receipts of the transaction from 8-9pm or look at the cameras and reverse the few and then deal with there employee as suited to the matter of the theft for stealing. I want my $43.00 refunded since the manager and or owner Ryan said that someone had to steal the money cause there wouldn't be a transaction with cash back or he needs to issue me the correct amount of $30 dollars back and i want an apology from the employee(s) that decided to steal from me.

But then, Total Wine stores aren't granting as much space for single beers as they used to, either. This store does have a lot of small packs of local beers, and my husband chose a few. Total wine is the perfect place to shop for anything that you need for hosting a weekend party, or…read morejust to restock your wine. We can always find everything we need, the prices are fantastic, and sometimes my husband can even find a specialty bourbon he's been looking for. The stores are spotless, and full of helpful staff. They also do tastings and you can pay to have a tasting event there too, which looks really fun! Hey, Lukas Liquors was way better to begin with, let's just state that fact. Now we have a generic version of that full of employees chasing you around the store bothering you while you're trying to look at the booze. Then there's the boxes. I buy four bottles of whisky, easily $150 price range. I drive from two hours away to get here. I want a box to put my round bottles in so they won't roll around in the back of the car. They protect these boxes like they're gold. Borderline rude. It's against store policy, I've been told. On this visit, the guy said I could have a box. He selects a tiny little box without dividers and tries to cram four bottles of whisky on top of each other. Come on. Being a wise a$$ he says, "there we let you have a box". I urge corporate to address this issue. The only reason I came, was because I was in the area and wanted a rare bottle. A Total Wine rep may reply to this review stating: they hope they can do better next time. Don't reply unless you can fix the box issue. I'm spending money. I'm a customer. Give me a carton with partitions to get home. They're lying all over the front of the store. Train your employees so they at least know the store policy.
