There's a number of large rooms if you want to host a conference or a community fair. There's also a bunch of classes you can sign up for, for a fee. (Vienna residents pay less.) I also like how close this place is to the center of Vienna. You could ride your bike here since the bike trail passes right by it. You could walk here right after going to the library. You could grab lunch and then walk over. You could hop over while your kid is playing baseball. In fact, car is probably the most annoying way to get here since the parking can be a pain, especially if you come during the Saturday morning farmers market when part of the parking lot is closed.

After hiking or biking the adjacent W&OD that can be helpful. Also super friendly Vienna Park and Recreation employees! Very kind folks. There's plenty of parking spots. I like the statue of kids reading. There are some nice benches as well. When my son was younger, took him here for a music and puppet show. That was fun and the arts thrive here. Definitely a nice community center, although I wish they could add a few activities.

I think it's pretty safe to say it's a one of a kind (if not the only) non-profit organization / facility that allows you to drop off your child(ren) with special needs, for a day or two on the weekend to allow the parents some time of respite. Absolutely love their mission and the fact that they care specifically for an otherwise marginalized population. They have three "lodges" each with 10 rooms (half singles, half doubles), outdoor playground, pool, indoor gymnasium, chapel, a variety of rooms for computers, music, arts & crafts, sensory stimulation and quite rooms. And practically everything has a theme. It really does look like a kids' paradise...and hopefully it will be. You'll need to register on their website to utilize their services.

From the carefully thought-out interior decor to the doting, compassionate staff, Jill's House is one of the most tangible manifestations of love for a group of children often overlooked by the general public. Jill's House is an overnight respite home for special-needs children. For the kids, it's like a fun sleepover - there's a music room with musical instruments, sing-a-long DVDs, and space to dance, a technology room with touch-screen computers, an art room, a gym, an indoor pool, a playground, and nature-themed "pods" with more games, puzzles, toys, video games, and even a movie screen (tell me you didn't have to take a breath in between reading that list). For the hard-working parents (for whom I have such great respect and admiration), it's a chance for them to have a night to themselves. Furthermore, Jill's House is an incredibly safe place for these children. The intake coordinators are very detailed in recording each individual child's diet restrictions, medical concerns, and methods of communication. They also make sure to give the parents (and the child) a tour of the facility beforehand. The intake coordinators, then, propagate all of this information to the staff who work directly with the children. Now, the staff are a group of people who are not only efficient caretakers, but are also genuinely loving people. It's apparent that the children quickly form bonds with the staff and recognize them when they return. It's heartwarming to witness. I could go on and on, but (as another review has pointed out) it might be easier to just visit the website or call. Ultimately, this facility houses an amazing group of workers and a precious group of kids.

Let your family's holiday tradition give back to the greater Northern Virginia Community!!…read more My husband and I enjoy the pleasure of volunteering at the Vienna Host Lions club Christmas tree lot every year. It is lovely to see families arrive to purchase a tree and leave having empowered individuals and families less fortunate than them throughout the coming year through their purchase of a live Fraser fir, roping and wreathes. There are crews to help you select your tree, put on a fresh cut at the trunk, and load/secure the tree to your vehicle. There have been some really cool vehicles that have come by - - families with a wagon, a specially modified bicycle, and of course beautiful classic cars. It makes my heart feel like Christmas. 100% of proceeds go toward charities for sight, hearing, youth, and the environment. There is also a drop-off box for any used/old prescription glasses, frames, or hearing aids to be recycled and redistributed to give the gift of sight to those in need. Masks are required this year and worn by all employees. The Lions have taken safety precautions at the cashier station to protect the health of its members, volunteers, and customers. Imho, it's always great to give back but especially great during the Season of Giving. Hope you will join me in giving back to others through patronage of this charity organization's Tree Lot this year.

I booked a reservation for friday and saturday stay, unfortunately I wasn't able to get to the cabin. My partner and I drove a F150 4x4. We came across several issues on the road to name a few, we entered a dirt road and shortly after we encountered a fallen tree obscuring the road we barely passed through scrapping the top of the truck. Secondly, we arrived at the gate and were unable to drive up the hill due to the lack of maintenance on the road. It had so many deep potholes and the left side of the road was so uneven even if we were to pass through, we could've potentially damaged the truck. Third, a car followed us up the hill and waited at the shared parking space watching us as we attempted to drive up the hill several times. We felt uneasy and unsafe to be completely honest. It was getting dark, and we left. I emailed them over the weekend and since i didn't get a response i called today. I spoke to Ben the cabin coordinator, he was very disrespectful, rude and unprofessional. He disregarded my email and said he would get to it eventually. I tried explaining all this over the phone, he didn't care to listen and refused to help me. I requested a refund since i didn't stay in the cabin due to the poor road conditions. I've never been spoken to with so much hostility specially when i paid a fee to become a member. I tried explaining what occurred and he didn't want to hear it and said, "if i want to go back and forth and argue he can through email" and "the membership isn't for me". Ben didn't try to solve the issue in any way. If you're looking to book a cabin save yourself the headache and book through Airbnb at least they are open 7 days a week and they provide good customer service. I hope the phone calls are recorded because management should look into Ben's demeanor.

This organization misled us from the start. They were not honest about the breed of the puppy we adopted, and they failed to disclose serious pre-existing medical conditions. We later found out they didn't give our puppy his proper initial vaccinations or fully deworm him before adoption. They waited several hours after the adoption to send over his medical records--which revealed he had been diagnosed with hookworm and roundworm, and had only received a single dose of medication with no follow-up. After a vet visit, we found out he was also positive for tapeworm and Giardia. On top of that, he was underweight for his age. When we reached out to the foster, they admitted to feeding six puppies from one trough and "letting them fight it out" for food--completely unacceptable and neglectful. My vet said this rescue has a poor reputation for a reason. They do not properly care for their animals, and it shows. To make matters worse, we've been told they block adopters and delete negative reviews on Facebook to avoid accountability. That alone says everything. This organization needs to be held responsible for the way they're handling these vulnerable animals and misleading loving adopters. Please do your research and advocate for these animals who deserve better

They fail to provide a complete copy of the contracts you sign and then claim to refer to it for terms/conditions. They ignore the disclosure that you have 14 days to return if the home doesn't work out for you or the animal. They only care about your money. They mislead you on the adoption application for any specific animal, and they force you to attend the adoption events with no guarantees. It is all a bait-and-switch. It's terrible for the animals, as they are seen as just profit for these people. It's also bad for the families, because if things don't work for any reason, they won't allow you to find them a better home and they will not help facilitate taking them back. When you try to call them out, they just block you. It is all unprofessional and messed up. We have dogs and we love them dearly, but sadly things don't always work out. Unfortunately, this organization doesn't care at all. All I'm saying is to be cautious, because these people don't care.
