Since he began attending, we've always felt extremely comfortable leaving him in their able care. He's always happy to walk through the door in the morning and smiling and laughing when we pick him up. A few things I've especially appreciated about Rafhat: 1. The fun little arts and crafts projects she does with our son. Always a treat when we open up his diaper bag after pick up to see a special little piece of art 2. She cooks him nutritious meals through out the day and shares any observations with us about his eating habits, etc 3. Flexibility - there have been several times where we have had a last minute need for childcare. They've been able to accommodate our son with little notice 4. We get a write up of our son's day at pick up (diapers, food, milk, etc). Sometimes we got a bonus picture or video of him playing with his friends :) We've really enjoyed our time at Our 1st Step and wouldn't hesitate to recommend to another family looking for a small home daycare environment

We decided to tour and interview at 1st step learning but were hesitant as soon as we pulled up - t's an older home that doesn't quite give off daycare vibes. The main room inside is quite small and dark but the owners put us at ease right away. It felt like visiting your loving grandparents. Both owners were warm and caring and despite our initial hesitation, they won us over right away. We signed all the paperwork and a few days later dropped off our 12 month old daughter for her first day. We had been doing music classes and gymboree but she had never been away from us, so I knew we'd probably have to pick her up early. What I wasn't expecting was for Fahim's demeanor to change completely (she seemed mad and irritated) and to tell me our daughter wasn't welcome back because she cried too much. This was after ONE hour. I understand a crying toddler is difficult and can be frustrating but the way this was handled was surprising and kind of offensive. This may be a great place for an infant or a newborn, but if your child can recognize faces and needs time to warm up to a brand new situation and new people (what child doesn't?), then I cannot recommend this place at all.

We are so grateful to the teachers and staff, who are genuinely dedicated and truly care about the children. From the very beginning, we felt that our son was in a safe, nurturing, and enriching environment. Some of the things we especially appreciated were the convenient hours (7:30 a.m.-6:00 p.m.), three meals provided each day, washing of sleeping bags and water bottles, and the wonderful variety of daily activities, including sports and music. We were especially fortunate to have Ms. Celi as our son's teacher. She updated the parent app every day with incredible detail about the children's activities, curriculum, and plenty of photos. It gave us so much peace of mind to know what he was learning and experiencing each day. Communication with both the teachers and staff was always easy, and responses were consistently prompt and helpful. We'd also like to recognize Ms. Delen, our son's fellow dinosaur-loving teacher, who made learning so much fun, and Ms. Tina, who greeted us every morning with a warm smile that always brightened our day. Finally, we want to give a heartfelt thank you to the entire staff who showed our family so much understanding, compassion, and grace during a very difficult season in our lives. Your kindness and support meant more than you know, and we truly couldn't have made it through without you. We are incredibly thankful to have been part of the Little Genius Academy family. Thank you for loving and investing in our son. We will always look back on our time here with gratitude.

To our surprise, many schools do not use an app. The extracurricular activities are so engaging - I like that they bring an outside coach to engage the kids in sports, Mr. George for music, and Ms Brittany for reading. The meals are also great. My son is open to eating a variety of food as a result of the meals serve at the school. In terms of academics, my almost 4 year old can count to 40, knows the ABCs and write his name. All in all, LGA makes life easy for parents, especially working parents. Even the morning drop off procedures are so quick and seamless. Between my older daughter and son, we've been at multiple schools in the area and I can say that LGA is our favorite.

Can't say enough good things about Marnie and Alamo Montessori School…read more My 20 month only son previously enrolled in another local daycare but he was unfortunately removed after 4-5 part time days because he was being "disruptive" and "wanted to be around the caretakers only." This is more than reasonable for a toddler experiencing his first daycare and time away from us in a foreign environment. Before we even enrolled, Marnie and Alamo Montessori School went out of their way to help our son dip his toes in with multiple 15 minute morning sessions to help him feel comfortable with being away and with his new environment. We eventually enrolled our son and while he hesitant initially, Marnie had a great plan in place to keep my son entertained and distracted. After only a couple of weeks, he now loves going and can't wait to get out of the car. Highly recommend Alamo Montessori School! Note: It's a bit hard to initially get ahold of Marnie as she's actively involved in the day care but we got a hold of her through her direct email.

We enrolled our son at 18 months, the youngest age that AM accepts (which is lower relative to many Montessori programs in the area!) While I knew that it would be a big transition for him, I was comforted when Marnie asked us to come see the program in action and let him join in for two short visits prior to our first day. At the time, he was shy, attached, and was behind in his speech. Since then, he has grown into such a confident, personable, and intuitive little boy. I attribute so much of that to AM's approach to learning. They paint, do science experiments, read books, sing songs, and play outside every day. They let the child lead with their interests, but also expose them to experiences that I don't have the patience for (or the willingness to clean up!). He is constantly coming home with new skills, songs and words in his vocabulary. He gets so much focused attention and I can tell that he is incredibly well loved and cared for. We communicate and receive photos through an app, and there are twice yearly "parent teacher conferences" where we get an update on how he is doing. He has thrived under their care. I truly believe that placing him in Alamo Montessori has been one of the best things we have done for him. I am so grateful.

The school itself is small and the facility may look a bit older, but what truly makes it special is the people. Ms. Asmita and Ms. Brogan run the school with so much care and dedication. Ms. Brogan is especially impressive -- thoughtful, efficient, and incredibly professional. She has such a strong presence that you can't help but notice her. Honestly, she could shine anywhere! Our son is in the Honey Bear class, and we couldn't have asked for better teachers -- Ms. Susmita, Ms. Stacy, and Ms. Preetha. They are warm, patient, and genuinely attentive to each child. As parents, we always felt heard and supported, and the communication has been consistently great. The growth we've seen in our son has been amazing. Not just academically, but also in confidence, social skills, and independence. He truly thrived here. As he moves on to TK next semester, it's bittersweet -- we're excited for his next step, but we know he will deeply miss this school and his teachers. Pros: - I love how organized the school is. They use the ProCare app which was amazing. Check in/out was efficient, I was notified of SO much during the day. Several photos and updates (down to when her diaper was changed and how long her naps were). We were very spoiled. - Our daughter is a terrible eater, but Mrs. Shrada introduced her to new foods and if she wouldn't eat what others were eating she'd find a way to sneak in something she'd like to get food in her belly. - Super responsive and available via text or email - Payment was easy and tuition was fair. - Very safe. I love how in the ProCare app you can upload pictures of people authorized to pick up my daughter and also pictures of those not allowed to pick up. - Mrs. Shrada had so much love for my daughter. Treated her as her very own. Cons: - My daughter would sometimes get sent home with a cough. I completely understand her wanting to keep others healthy. Just tricky at times when working full time. I HIGHLY recommend LSCD. We'll most likely send baby #2 here.

Of all our experiences so far, Shrada's home daycare has been the best experience for our family. Our son previously got kicked out of a nanny share for being too difficult and having difficulty sleeping. We were concerned that he would also be too much for Shrada to handle (especially with 4-6 other kids), but she assured us that she could handle him and that the transition would be smooth. From day one he was napping and within a week he was excited to go back. He's now been attending for over a year and is excited every day to go back. Shrada's daycare is like a second home for him. With Little Sunflower Child Daycare you get the atmosphere of a small family daycare, but with all the benefits of a larger business due to their full use of the ProCare app. I don't know how she manages it, but we receive dozens of updates daily (meals, nap times, diaper changes, activities, photos, videos, etc.). Shrada's communication and responsiveness are unparalleled. It's so comforting and reassuring to always know exactly what our son is doing throughout the day and to know he's in good hands. On top of that she's always smiling and cheerful and consistently engages the children in educational activities. She also prepares healthy, delicious meals that all the kids enjoy. I highly recommend Little Sunflower Child Daycare for anyone who is looking for quality child care.

Things were not working out as planned at another daycare closer to me, and that is when a friend of my husband's mentioned going to Regina's instead. We were, and still are to this day, very fortunate for the referral. My oldest daughter spent about 9 months at Regina's until she was able to attend Kindergarten at Bancroft. I appreciated that Regina and her helpers created not only a positive experience for learning, but a nurturing environment for her growth on all spectrums. My daughter was a bit in-shock from changing daycare environments, and I appreciate the dedication and sensitivity to help overcome that. While I am impressed how much my oldest daughter was able to change and grow, my youngest daughter made some unbelievable milestones here -- and they are a reflection of how great this daycare really is. She benefitted greatly to receive about two years of care here before she moved onto TK a couple months ago. She was initially having trouble walking (late walker), and Regina recommended a type of boot to help her gain confidence with walking. Sure enough, she was able to navigate as soon as they were on her feet. The magic did not stop there. What sets this place apart, and this is something even my husband's friend mentioned is that Regina's place displays a strong outpouring of empathy. They teach the kids kindness, how to look out for each other, and how to be a good soul. That is difficult to find anywhere, let alone, something that is even remotely taught today. The empathy was mentioned by BOTH of my daughers' teachers; when I attended a parent/teacher conference earlier in the week. My oldest daughter is one of the top students in her class academically, and so is my youngest! My youngest daughter's teacher mentioned to me it is unusual for a 4 year-old to be able to know most, if not all of her alphabet, but have the ability to differentiate between upper and lower case letters. She is also apparently the only one in her class that can count past 5, and up to 100. I even enclosed the test results below this review, so you can see how she did. She did goof on one letter for each, but still... 25 out of 26 is amazing! I want to also add Regina taught opposite words, how to write numbers, alphabet letters, learning about the seasons/days/months, TONS of hands-on enrichment activities, music (Regina is an amazing piano player!), and private links to YouTube videos of their holiday celebrations. Regina paved the way academically, as well as leaving everlasting impressions that carried through that I am absolutely appreciative of. I am forever grateful and thankful. I really am. Regina's daycare is worth its weight in gold. The education, TLC, social interactions, carefully-crafted home cooked meals, and structure are truly the building blocks for the small group of diverse children under her care. You won't find a place like this. Regina was literally tailor-made to be here to get your child on the right path into a school setting.

Regina and her assistants have always made it their priority to keep the children safe and always kept an open line of communication with parents. We really appreciate the support with his early education. We also appreciate the effort they made with celebrating holidays and special birthday parties! Regina even takes photos during these events and prints them for you! We loved having these memories! I would highly recommend this daycare to any parent! Thank you to Regina, Vera, Suray, and Irina for taking such good care of our son and loving him like your own. My son is now more than ready for TK this Fall and he will miss you all so much!
