This Dulles airport spot amazed me! It's in the D gate terminal across from grille district. I was surprised to see a quick Chinese spot with baos. They do have some questionable flavors like cheeseburger bao buns but I got their char Siu (bbq pork) buns and their spicy beef buns. The buns- The bbq pork - not as red as char Siu should be but it was still really good. The spicy beef buns- it actually had a kick wow! Not spicy but def differently spiced. The outer layer- Very doughy pretty good! Price- It is pricey but expected for an airport location. 2 buns are $10 and 4 buns are $17. Service- I will say they were not happy to take my order. They also threw my buns into a bag, instead of a box. The ambience- It has some seatings in high booths, the wall caught my attention. read more

Not sure what I was expecting at a place in the airport but I tried. I ordered 2 spicy Mongolian beef bao buns and a fried rice. The two people working there could use some training in customer service and hospitality but I proceeded anyways. Prices are typical for an airport, overpriced. The trash was overflowing which concerned me but everything is cooked up front. The bao are ok, nothing special. The fried rice tastes like what I imagine cardboard tastes like. About the worst food I ever had. Got off a late night flight and was happy to see an Asian option at the Dullas airport that was open. I ordered a Kung Pao chicken bowl with fried rice. There was very little shredded kind of chicken thrown on an almost porridge version of fried rice. It was soggy and disgusting. At over $25, after about three spoonfuls, I had to toss it. First time trying a Wow Bao. If I had one word to describe their food - nontraditional. I'll start with the positives - they have quite a few buns steaming and ready to go. It took about a minute to get our order. They're also not adding much color to dishes, which is particularly noticeable in the BBQ pork buns which are typically a vibrant red color. We ordered a variety of buns and a kung pao chicken bowl. My favorite was the Coconut Custard bun. It's a mildly flavored and slightly sweet bun. The three savory buns honestly were a bit of a blur. The teriyaki chicken was minced chicken which was reminiscent of teriyaki. It also had something that reminded me of preserved mustard greens (mei cai). The bbq pork bun was a bit sweet and gingery which I wasn't expecting. I liked the Mongolian beef the least mostly because the meat was ground into a paste. Overall, flavors were non-traditional but ok. I was missing texture (very ground and soft meat). The size of the buns were medium (?), roughly 3". I think most people could eat a 4 pack and it would get the job done without being very full. I just had a bite of the kung pao chicken bowl. Honestly, not very reminiscent of kung pao chicken - looking for tender pieces of chicken, crunchy peanuts, and a burst of chile - which this doesn't deliver on. The bowl was 90% jasmine rice, 8% soggy broccoli, 1.5% airport air and the rest of it was probably some kind of a beef juice - not a single piece of beef. Only thing worse than the disgusting baozi was the horrendous attitudes of the servers. Half of the menu was out of stock. It's the most expensive disgusting '"meal" I've ever had with by far the worst customer experience. Don't even try harder. Best to just close up shop. My curiosity about bao in an airport gradually turned to disappointment with my meal here. I ordered the rice bowl (teriyaki chicken) + bao (BBQ pork and Mongolian beef) combo. I found the meat to be similar across the dishes in both flavor and texture - it was all fine, just similar, which is strange given that they were from different animals and with different sauces. The overall structure, texture, and flavor of the bao buns were good, what you would expect from any legit Chinese restaurant. However, the rice in the rice bowl was well past its prime, and crunchy in many places (and not in a good way like Persian-style rice - I initially thought that maybe the chicken was not deboned).
