    BBQ Pork Bun
    Winston L.

First time trying a Wow Bao. If I had one word to describe their food - nontraditional. I'll start with the positives - they have quite a few buns steaming and ready to go. It took about a minute to get our order. They're also not adding much color to dishes, which is particularly noticeable in the BBQ pork buns which are typically a vibrant red color. We ordered a variety of buns and a kung pao chicken bowl. My favorite was the Coconut Custard bun. It's a mildly flavored and slightly sweet bun. The three savory buns honestly were a bit of a blur. The teriyaki chicken was minced chicken which was reminiscent of teriyaki. It also had something that reminded me of preserved mustard greens (mei cai). The bbq pork bun was a bit sweet and gingery which I wasn't expecting. I liked the Mongolian beef the least mostly because the meat was ground into a paste. Overall, flavors were non-traditional but ok. I was missing texture (very ground and soft meat). The size of the buns were medium (?), roughly 3". I think most people could eat a 4 pack and it would get the job done without being very full. I just had a bite of the kung pao chicken bowl. Honestly, not very reminiscent of kung pao chicken - looking for tender pieces of chicken, crunchy peanuts, and a burst of chile - which this doesn't deliver on. Overall, if you're ok with a softer, finely ground meat filling and non-traditional flavors, this might be the place for you.

Craved some Asian food during my unplanned layover. Saw this place and did a double take. Unfortunately required 24 min wait for cheeseburger bao and 7 min wait for some others. So I just went with what was available the bbq pork, spicy Mongolian beef and teriyaki chicken. all were so good! ESP the Mongolian beef and BBQ pork. Would come back to try the others I missed!

Average fast casual Asian fare. The steamed buns were okay--it's clear they're frozen and not handmade--but I probably wouldn't buy again. Prices are steep (2 medium buns for $10), but that's to be expected of all airport food. I found the BBQ pork a bit too sweet for my taste, though the overall flavor was decent. Dough not fluffy enough.

First time trying this place at IAD located near the United gates. A bit pricy but we got the potstickers and they are delicious - although will set you back $13 for just 8 pieces not very big. There is some seating if you want to eat there but the takeaways are package in leakproof paper containers so pretty easy to eat anywhere.

A surprise at Dulles Airport. I really wanted potstickers but they were not available. So I tried the two piece chicken bao. They were served fast and were very hot. But they were not very good. Very doughy and the chicken flavor brought to my imagination canned bbq chicken.

At Dulles and needed a snack, remember you are at the airport and I am not expecting fine Chinese cuisine. I got the chicken teriyaki because all the other flavors at 9pm was out. I wanted potstickers but not of stock. This is a teriyaki chicken steamed dumpling. It is temperature hot and serving piping hot. It was edible. The dumpling was soft as expected. The filling was hot but flavorless with way too much corn starch but I can see the chunks of chicken. 3 stars since it was temperature hot.

Dumplings have good flavor and that's about it. All the other reviews are right. I should have gone somewhere else.

I was here twice over the last two months. The first time, I ordered off the regular menu. The second time, I did the AYCE dim sum/tapas. Obviously, ordering a la carte, you'll get larger portions. It was all fantastic. The server was attentive and friendly. Dishes came out lightning fast. And the food itself was stellar! I'll let the photos speak for themselves. You can't go wrong here, especially if you're getting one of the AYCE specials (there's a similar one at Mama Chang's). I want to note though, three of the dishes have the same flavor profile, just different main ingredients: spicy dry fish, spicy dry cauliflower, and dry fried spicy eggplant. They use dry fried red chili and ground Szechuan peppercorn. If you like this, great! Just know it's the same seasoning across these dishes. I didn't take photos of everything, but if it's braised pork xxxx, get it! I will gladly return to this location or Mama Chang's for another AYCE adventure.

However, despite its name, I didn't find the dish spicy at all. I also felt it could've used more seasoning, as the flavors were milder than I expected. - Cumin Spicy Diced Lamb ($13): This was my favorite dish. The lamb was tender, the cumin flavor really stood out, and it actually had the level of spice I was hoping for. - Vegan Szechuan Cold Noodles ($7): I've had this dish at other restaurants and usually love it, but this version was disappointing. It arrived warm instead of cold, so I refrigerated it overnight. By the next day, the noodles had become too firm, and the Szechuan flavors were very subtle. This may just be one of those dishes that's better enjoyed fresh in the restaurant rather than delivered. One thing to note is that rice isn't included with the entrées. I forgot to add rice to my order, but the restaurant kindly included some anyway, which I really appreciated.

What I enjoyed about Yo more than a place like Dumpling District (very similar in menu) was the quality and vibes of the service and atmosphere. The Spicy dry noodles are definitely what drew me to come here and they did not disappoint. My kids loved the pork chops. The seafood soup was loaded! The flavors were exceptional. For example, the Panfried Pork Bun used to be my favorite item here but they've changed the recipe significantly. The pork filling used to be a lot larger and juicier...but now when you break open the bun, the filling is so small that half of the bun doesn't even have any meat. 80% of the bun is just dough and it's not fried well and quite greasy. Everything overall was way too greasy, including the crueller and the dry noodles were swimming in oil. I did like the texture of the noodles, but unfortunately it was overshadowed by the oiliness of the broth it was sitting in. It's really sad to see this place fall short since it opened a couple years ago. I'm hoping that they can improve their quality of food as it's really gone downhill since opening.

Satisfies the Chinese food cravings for sure. Warm & welcoming atmosphere...not so much. I don't want to fault one of my go-to Chinese food joints because the economy sucks. Everyone & everything has been affected during these chaotic & unreliable times. Small biz restaurants gotta save where they can just like everyone else to stay alive. I look forward to the day when this restaurant can go back to good-sized portions with a satisfying amount of meat & vegetables rather than having to really scale down. Been coming here for years and it's still in the rotation despite the downgrade in value currently. Being able to count the number of meat pieces on one hand and the number of veggies on the other is disheartening. A container filled with steamed rice & sauce instead of meat & veggies is disappointing and expensive. I've never found Wong Kok to fall into the category of "greasy Chinese food." That's a definite plus. While the lunch specials are generally still an ok deal during this horrible economy, be prepared to spend and not receive quite the return you once were used to getting from your fav Chinese food joint. Even the fortune cookies have shrunk about 20% in size! Worth the drive? Yes, because the food has always been hot & fresh and tastes pretty good. The meat quality remains decent- not fatty, gristly, or just scraps. And, yes, because I want to keep my local Chinese food go-to in biz.
