Rangoli Indian is our go-to in Prince William county for Indian. Have been to others in the area and I work in Herndon and Rangoli stands up with the best of them. Food is always fresh and made to the right spice level. They will adjust to your preference, but standard butter chicken is mild while lamb vindaloo has some heat. Apart from being very unreasonable in price, their catering business is a big no no. They promise you a load of bs with a smile upfront but completely ruined my brother's wedding. The manager/owner (Kumar) is quite the swindler with words but they're all empty. If you're thinking about having your event catered by them, you're either related to him, getting a hell of a deal, or just being lied to. Things began to unfold as the wedding started. Empty promises about delivering excellence which was a bold faced lie. Promised ample staff for the event but had a whole bunch of staff missing or leave mid event. Bartenders never showed up. We had gone to this restaurant often in their previous location a few years ago and it was always great, but this time in their new location the experience was awful. The buffet was meager, the food was cold, everything was obviously old and stale and it all tasted quite bad. We could not find anything good to eat at all, left our food and will not be returning. What a cozy place! Do not be put off by the location. We were greeted and seated immediately. The service was attentive and helpful. You can tell they want you to have a great experience! We had the garlic naan and Butter Chicken (x2). It was plentiful and delicious. We were asked about the spice level- I actually would have enjoyed it spicier but that is more about what I chose, as Butter Chicken it is not usually a very spicy dish. I don't know what they would have maybe done if I did bring it up. If we ever make it back to Manassas, I will try something new. Vegan Friendly: Yes, there are plenty of options to make something vegan through substitution and letting the Chef know Exterior and Interior: The exterior is a little sketchy because the entire area is pretty far from downtown Manassas. Still, the interior is done very well and has TVs, can adjust the lighting, and create a fun atmosphere. Food Breakdown: - So I actually booked the restaurant for my engagement party and kept it small like 50 people. I will say there was plenty of food available for all the guests. On our menu, we chose a variety of dishes from meat to veggie and the overall condense was the food overall was great! And we will definitely be considering them for our wedding catering next year for sure:)! Price: So they charged our $40 per person + Service fee on top of it. I will say I was pretty fair for what it was. The restaurant rental was also pretty reasonable and they had extra equipment like tables, chairs, and extension cords that they let us use for free. We've ordered in the past and had "okay" meals but in the past 4 attempts over the course of several days every time we order our order gets canceled. It doesn't get canceled right away either. It's usually not until the driver arrives to pick up the food that they cancel the order. They never give a good explanation. Just canceled. Forget this place. Don't waste your your time. if you want an event catered, this is THE place. They catered our daughter's outdoor wedding and were FABULOUS!! The food was amazing, the service superb (they voluntarily moved all of our ceremony chairs back after the ceremony and pitched in for various other tasks not even related to the food). I've heard so much about Rangoli over the years, and finally got a chance to stop by last night. - it's a low key neighborhood mom & pop restaurant with basic ambience. - we excitedly ordered chicken momos after seeing them on the menu. Oh they were simply awful. Do not order. See pics. The restaurant did apologize and were nice to take them off our bill. - the mango lassi was not good either. - malai kofta had a great yummy gravy and I would recommend. We did medium spicy but you can definitely go one step higher even if you don't like spicy foods. - veggie noodles were soso. - chicken sali Marghi was ok. - onion kulcha were perfect. My takeaway is that this restaurant is a good place to get your fix for the classic Punjabi veggie dishes- but maybe not the speciality items. read more

Our local favorite Indian place has started to slip, so we decided to try this place which is much further away. I am a bit torn. Here's the good and bad: Good - tender chicken in the butter chicken, finally! Okay - butter chicken gravy was okay. Would have liked to see more tomato and maybe some fresh cilantro. The don't ask how spicy you want it. It's not spicy at all. The samosas were pretty standard with the green and red sauce. The garlic naan was pretty good. Would have liked to see more fresh garlic and cilantro though. Bad - Rice pudding dessert tasted a little odd like they mixed up an ingredient or two. Rangoli has an attractive interior though located in a small, nondescript block of buildings along Route 28 south of Oldtown Manassas. Service is attentive. The buffet is fresh and well prepared. I stopped by this place because I was hungry for an Indian lunch buffet and this place delivered. All of the food was attractively displayed and the selections were plentiful. The options were around 50% vegetarian and 50% animal protein. Every dish that I tasted was delicious, some of the best Indian food that have ever had in NOVA. I've probably eaten at Rangoli over 50 times so obviously a fan. Kumar is the owner and a perfect gentleman. Koti is the lead server and runs the place - again a perfect gentleman. The food is awesome - good flavors - as spicy as you want it - they can dial in the heat to your tolerance level. Good selection of wines. They have an awesome buffet but you can order off the menu at any time - just ask. Only recommendation is to dim the lights to make it more romantic. read more

We enjoyed this hole in the wall Indian restaurant. The nann pizza had mushrooms and green peppers and was mild. Different from any pizza because there was no tomato sauce. The saffron shrimp was quite dry and tough. We got the chicken masala which was delicious and went well with the perfectly cooked rice. read more

My husband and I just left Rangoli and agree that this was the best Indian buffet we've been to. Each item was prepared masterfully by someone who truly cares about food. This use to be our go to comfort food place since the time it started but of late the quality and taste seems to have gone down a bit. And sadly after the last experience a few days ago we are done with Rangoli. Ordered via DoorDash and one of the item was boti kebab which is $18, description says boneless leg of lamb but what was delivered were 4 tiny pieces of lamb kebabs. So that comes up to almost $5 for a single 1 inch piece of meat which is ridiculous, just look at the attached image! Another disappointment was their chicken and paneer makhni which use to have excellent flavor and a nice rich creamy texture but the last couple of times the makhni sauce was very watery and runny not thick and creamy like before. I really like Rangoli! This restaurant offers various appetizers, soups, salads, tandoori specials, chicken/vegetarian entrees, rice options, and other house specialties. They also do catering, too! The hubs and I came here a few times to check out their lunch buffet, and we've always left super stuffed and satisfied! Going right when they open is a huge plus, as their pakora and other available appetizers are right out of the fryer and super fresh. Their curries are super flavorful, and I really enjoyed their cabbage dish, the veggies, and the korma. While it's not an extensive selection, the options that they have are detail-oriented and cooked with love! The naan is super fresh and can be often refilled. The staff is genuine and courteous and displays just the right amount of attentiveness. The fried spinach appetizer was delicious as was the butter chicken! And they have perfect naan. Good food. My favorites are vegetable pakora, chicken tikka, malai kofta and lamb biryani.

We had chicken biriyani and chicken momo to go. Now the momo is just some Costco pot stickers; no where near momo. The biryani wasn't too bad, however the amount of food could and should be better. I don't wanna offend anyone, but in my experience, if you go to an Indian restaurant, and see only a bunch of white patrons, usually means food isn't that great and of course no where near authentic. Since I'm in the area, I'll probably try it couple more times, but for now I'm not really hopeful. The online ordering process was great though. read more

We did catering for our wedding from this place. Food was good. Desert was a mess and embarrassment. Customer service/hosting/bartenders 4/10. I was not happy with them at all. Owner said he would be there to help coordinate, but didn't show up, no heads up or anything. His counter part kutty was horrible at organizing everything, very rude guy. Below is the review we emailed the owner Kumar-- I would like to kindly update you on my overall experience on your catering and will be transparent about my experience and share the same information for my review online. At first I would like to thank you for your efforts and engagement to the process of getting us quotes and feedback on the items along with the tastings. This was our review for the owner after our wedding reception. The food was very good and thanks to the tasting we could finely tune these and get what food we wanted. Everyone enjoyed the food although some items fell short which will be discussed later below. I am also very thankful that you catered to my two last minutes request of having the chicken 65 out during dinner and having chicken salad for my Bhabhi. The staff did help with the cleaning, the champagne was done very well and the dinner was served on time; hence a job well done. The following items were very tasty: 1) Tawa Sabji (the best) 2) Chaat 3) Biryani 4) Lamb 5) Fish Now the unfortunate part as I regret to inform you that Kutty does not replace Kumar (as much as i wish it did). Your absence at my event was very unexpected although as I tried being optimistic to see you at some given point I believe you would have orchestrated this better. The disappointments are stated below: 1) Cocktail hour did not start at 6pm while guests were not served; drinks and food stations were ready around 6:26PM. Plus I had to even make an announcement as the stations were being "worked on" as guests thought the station is not ready to eat or drink. 2) Chicken 65 was very sparingly served I believe. I would see one server walking around without toothpicks! and expecting people to just grab and go. After a 6-12 minute wait another server with the chicken 65 was coming along. There were instances where 1-2 servers would just stand in a corner glancing at empty plates while I and jen had to go about and request them to serve water or food or put things on trays. Kutty had too much on his plate because there was no supervisor on the ground! 3) Upon dinner being served and all was going well, we were low on plates and dinner ware. I had 3 families complain about the following: a) new plates were not being kept/restored b) new dinner ware were not being kept/restored c) when my guest had asked for utensils was told we don't have any! (pretty rude) d) another guest at 945PM had asked for a plate and was told dinner is over. the timeline had shifted due to delay in various issues especially cocktail session. But regardless a nice way to dismiss the guesy would have sufficed as opposed to the approach taken 4) Butter chicken was out after 40 minutes of the serving and when asked we were told its over sorry! 5)My biggest embarrassment was your dessert and my requested Moscow mules, I got no ice cream and its was all melted and the firni along with the gulab jamun was also hard. Everyone that took the kulfi had to drink it halfway to realize its bad. When i approached Kutty about it he told me "do not worry" yet there was no resolution. Same issue although I should not complain about is the coffee but it was way too strong as it was either not mixed well or done incorrectly. When advised kutty to REMOVE the coffee, he mentioned again "do not worry". When asked about the Moscow mules, no limes were being squeezed or prepared to serve, basically they were opening 3-4 cans (it was creating a litter on the table opening multiple cans without emptying and throwing the cans out) of ginger beer and adding vodka. My specialty drink was a disaster. 6) This comes back to the cleanliness, where the white table cloths showed the messy food being dropped but not being cleaned and maintained. 7) the Bartender around 830 pm tells me we are short on alcohol and I run out and lost an hour of my wedding to bring back multiple bottles of alcohol to only realize one whisky bottle and one vodka bottle were opened and a quarter of it used. There were still other whisky and other vodkas by the way. (no planning or checking prior) read more

It was our first time here. We went at 12:30pm to try their $16 lunch buffet. Not many restaurants offer lunch buffet anymore. It was very good. Enough food choices like onion pakora, chicken biryani, basmati rice, plain naan, lentils, chickpeas, potatoes & cauliflower, butter chicken, tandoori chicken, etc. Nice, big restaurant and clean too.
