Our Basset Hound boy, Hoss injured his back and our regular vet said that if we opted for surgery, it would cost us (STARTING) $10K and then the after-care (therapy, medication, etc.) would cost roughly another $15K. He is 9 1/2 and we REFUSED to make him live the rest of his life convalescing from back surgery. My wife researched who to go to for possible holistic treatments, and found Dr. Mullen and as it turns out, she happened to be at Kohn Animal Hospital. Let me start by saying that Dr. Mullen made a HUGE HUGE HUGE and let me say again, HUGE impact on our boy. She started with laser treatments, acupuncture and vitamin B shots at his acupuncture points. She worked with him and after one treatment, ONE TREATMENT, Hoss was acting like his old self. Wanting to run, play with his brother. We had to keep him calm so he wouldn't re-injure himself. Here we are, 4 months later, and he is still doing AMAZING. Dr. Mullen changed our boys life for the better and we couldn't be happier and more pleased with the unbelievable level of care that Dr. Mullen has provided. She shows just how much she cares for each patient. She sees Hoss, she melts to the floor and gives him rubs, hugs, kisses, and is overjoyed to see him. Her expertise and knowledge of the course of treatment that she has recommended and is doing has surpassed our expectations. We recommended Kohn/Dr. Mullen to a dear friend of ours that has a French Bulldog (so does Dr. Mullen) and she was able to diagnose and is in the process of treating his boy's allergies and they are FINALLY under control and his boy is so much happier than he ever was before Dr. Mullen's expertise. We LOVE Dr. Mullen and she is the best vet (besides our regular vet) that we have ever had the pleasure and trust to take our boy to. If our regular vet were to ever close its doors, Kohn and Dr. Mullen would be our number one choice. Dr. Mullen is now more than our Basset boys doctor, she is family to us and we hope to keep seeing her for a long time to come! read more

It takes a lot for me to write a review, and I typically attempt to write the business first (which I did), but there's a reason I feel it important to post this. This was, by far, my worst vet experience ever. Having just moved to the neighborhood, I figured I'd try a vet that was nearby and had decent reviews online. Here were the issues I encountered: 1. My prior vet sent records directly to them a week before the appointment. When I walked in, they didn't have anything. 2 I was taken right away by the tech. But then I waited 30 minutes for the vet. Nobody came to check on me. I walked out of the room after 25 minutes to make sure they knew I was still there 3. I saw Dr Mullen. Within a minute or two of coming in and checking my dog, she said she found a heart murmur. I had been taking my dog to the vet regularly for 5 years and never heard such a thing. This is the part of the review where I felt necessary to post. After getting a second "special" stethoscope to "confirm" there was a murmur, she suggested getting X-rays and/or going to a specialist. She also made a comment in passing that she's been finding a lot of murmurs over the last few weeks in pets. Well, I've taken my dog to two different vets since this visit and neither one of them can find a murmur, saying he's perfectly healthy. Which leads me to believe either Dr Mullen is the murmur whisperer or she legitimately doesn't know what a murmur sounds like. I post this in case others get a similar diagnosis, do not spend the money on X-rays there, get another opinion. 4. Which leads me to number 4. After talking with me about this murmur, she wanted to do X-rays as part of their wellness "plan". So she walked out for a few minutes and the tech came back with a laundry list of things for me to do for my dog. All in, it was over $1k. Mind you, I was coming in for a typical wellness visit and to get a couple of shots. Thank goodness I declined about 80% of what she wanted me to do. 5. I've never seen post-visit notes like I saw from Dr Mullen/Kohn Animal Care. Any doctor I've seen in my personal life, and every vet my dog has seen over the last 5 years (3 different practices, 10-15 different vets), the notes are typed out and sent and read like English. Not here. First, I received hand written notes from Dr Mullen about referrals for a heart specialist about the murmur. These handwritten notes were written on the back of a printed out piece of paper with another Kohn clients contact info. So yes; I have someone else's name, phone number, email address and mailing address. When I first asked for notes, the tech told me that doesn't typically happen. I said I needed them - they gave me a lot of information - so they typed them up and sent to me a couple of business days later. It's all vet speak. It does nothing for me. I've been to two vets since and each of them were much more detailed after a much quicker visit. 6. Speaking of, this visit was nearly TWO HOURS. That includes Dr Mullen coming 30 minutes late. I've never experienced this in my life. In the two vet appointments since - which I booked to check on the heart murmur that apparently doesn't exist - they got me right away, answered my questions, and wrote complete notes. 7. A week later I needed some flea and tick medicine. I emailed with reception to purchase some, they responded promptly and said we were all set. When my wife went to pick it up about 6 hours later, they had nothing set aside for her. It was like the email exchange never occurred. All in all - there was nothing about this experience that would prompt me to encourage anyone to come here. And for those of you who have seen Dr Mullen or will see her, please be careful about her diagnoses and get a second opinion before wasting money here. read more

I honestly cannot say enough good things about Kohn Animal Hospital and Dr. Mann and Dr. Keene, and their whole staff. Between my parents and I, we have 4 dogs with Kohn. They can always get you in quick and are never alarmists. I went through losing a 3.5 year old dog unexpectedly a couple years before going to Kohn, and they always calm my nerves and make me feel so comfortable. Dr. Mann is a life saver! Our cat Amigo had 3 large bladder stones that were found during an emergency room visit. They were not likely to be broken down by diet at the time and we called multiple veterinarians to schedule surgery. Dr. Mann personally called us back in the morning and said she could get him in for surgery that day. The surgery went well and she made sure to follow-up with us and was always available to talk to us via phone call with any questions/concerns post-op. We are so lucky to have Dr. Mann's help in our cats recovery! She prescribed dietary food after the procedure and was patient with our phone calls asking questions multiple times after the procedure. We went to Kohn Animal hospital on September 23, 2021 for vaccination for two of my cats. On phone we requested three vaccines for my cats. When we reached there, they took our pets inside & didn't let us inside & told us to stay in the car, so we were not sure which vaccines my pets were getting. When the nurse came back, we asked her to give us the hard copy so that we know which vaccines they got. Going through the papers we came to know that they gave them two vaccines instead of three, whereas they billed us for three, so we called them again to make it clear for us. Then the nurse took the pets inside again & gave our pets the third shot & told us to bring the pets after three weeks for the booster shot related to the third shot. Had we not pointed out about the third shot they wouldn't have given the third shot. The nurse further told us that when we bring the cats for booster shot (Felv booster shot) they will charge only for the booster shot and not for the doctors examination fee again. They also stated that the booster shot will be of the half price. After three weeks when we called for doing the booster shot they said they will again take the doctors fee for both the cats or otherwise they will charge the full vaccination price for booster shots, this was quite contrary to what they initially told us. I do not recommend KOHN Animal Hospital to anyone as you remain completely unaware of the hidden charges, and what treatment your pet is getting inside. Moreover, they don't stick to their promised charges. read more

Highly Recommend!! Dr. Mann is wonderful! Her staff are all very nice and clear animal lovers! I cant say enough great things about Dr. Mann! She takes care of our 3 dogs and our kitty. She is not only extreamely knowledgable but she is warm, caring and very patient with our dogs and cat. She clearly cares about animals and it shines through in her work with them. Anytime we go in for a visit she has a smile on her face to greet you and sweet comforting words and lots of pets for our dogs. She listens to your concerns and discussess options she feels would be helpful for our dogs. It is so refreshing to have someone great at what they do and be kind and caring at the same time! I brought them in for there first time and it was a great visit. One of my kittens got sick like two days later and I spoke to Dr Mann on the phone and she was so caring and compassionate. This relatively newly-minted veterinarian, Margaret Mann, who is the only doctor there to my understanding, seems OK as a doctor -- not quite the thoroughness I have experienced in the past, but I didn't have major problems. Her "Vet check" involved feeling the dog and asking me how she was. Not quite complete. But the most annoying thing is their business practices. Friday is "half-price vaccine day" which was very helpful to me (I thought). However, when I got there, I was told they were half-price ONLY with a vet check, which had the thoroughness I described above. The vet check was about $60! I reminded them that she had had an assessment/check just before a trip less than 6 months prior. It didn't matter. And they were not doing the vet check in preparation for the vaccine because I could just get the vaccines at full price without the check. I was more than annoyed, and asked to talk to Dr. Mann. She actually said, "Well how could I afford to give you the half-price vaccines if I didn't make up the money somewhere?" Yikes!! I left never to return again. read more
