Normally with this many children in one area there is usually bound to be someone screaming, someone crying, and general chaos. That is the furthest thing from the serene scenes playing out here day after day. When my son first started Mis Manos he had difficulty with the transition and would cry quite a bit when I dropped him off and later in the day when other mommies and daddies came and he was still at school. During those first few weeks what impressed me the most was the fact that even if he was crying (and it was very little) he was always being held or comforted by a teacher. He was never left in a corner anywhere during his difficult transition. As a first time mom this was incredibly reassuring. Now my son has been attending this school for nearly four months he loves it there. In fact we bumped his schedule up to 5 days a week because he would ask to see his teachers and his friends. He has improved in his listening and communicating so much and is always happy and tired when he comes home. I always ask him how his day was, and he beams and says "Good!" usually followed by some babbling about what he did (2 year olds aren't always the easiest to understand) and a very exuberant "Alba!" (his teacher). We pack his lunch and water bottle each day and he brings them right into his classroom. He's also learned that whenever he goes outside he should ask for his hat and sunscreen which is an added bonus! I do also want to point out that their toddler class, which my son is in, does not require them to be potty trained and begins at 18months. There is a waiting list and for good reason, this is an amazing school! I also hear they are cloth-diaper friendly, we asked but haven't gotten our stuff together to bring to them so we've been using disposables. I recommend this school to anyone and everyone I meet!

When we showed up, I asked the teacher how full they were and she said they had 8 slots left to fill. I cannot overstate how irritating it is to be profiled and have someone assume you require financial aid; but probably more importantly, though I'm reserving final judgment for drop-off tomorrow, this screening will result in little to no diversity in the classroom. I did not see any when we were there. If this matters to you as it does to me, know that I've not had bad experiences with the site director, the teachers, or even the CEP corporate employees. It's just a nasty feeling that something is not right. Though I cannot fault our interactions, I wonder would they be so compassionate to someone working in the (upper middle class) area who required financial aid to enroll their child... I'm just not so sure how I feel about this and I wanted to pen this review honestly immediately after the fact. I hope that was not their intent, and I will update the review later if anything changes about my perceptions but I think this is something to be considered. My older two were in elementary and used CEP for after-care and the experience was phenomenal. However, I do think the YMCA should reconsider advertising the pool as a membership amenity when, in practice, it is rarely available for general use. During the week, only a couple of morning hours are open, and those times are primarily intended for children taking swimming lessons. Everyone else--including children--is limited to a very small portion of a single lane. The pool is also unavailable on Sundays, has limited hours on Saturdays, and on Fridays it is often occupied by camps, making it inaccessible to regular members. While I understand the need to accommodate lessons and programs, the reality is that members have very few opportunities to actually use the pool. It feels misleading to market it as a membership benefit when it is so difficult to access. I hope the YMCA will either expand public pool availability or be more transparent about the limited access so members know what to expect.

Parents beware…read more TLDR: The direct school administrative staff including Desiree and Kristina were not helpful and frankly were avoidant, dismissive, and uncaring about a resolution to the same concern. These two individuals are not fit to be in positions of directing a place for young children and families. Cadence Academy corporate were kind & helpful following a challenging situation. We chose Cadence, after months of researching & touring for our 3 month old son when I returned to work after maternity leave. On the first day of daycare at Cadence Academy we had the ability to see the classroom through video access and as an anxious, first time, parents, we watched as often as we were allowed to. Our son spent a significant amount of time in a bouncer. It appeared that he was given attention infrequently by the singular teacher in the classroom of several babies. We received a phone call asking if it was okay for our baby to sleep in the bouncer if he was comfortable. This was not something that we wanted, but as it was our first day at daycare, we were a little nervous about anything going wrong and felt that perhaps this was a helpful recommendation from a teacher in the classroom. Watching the video even longer our son appeared to spend about five hours in the bouncer and did not receive that much of an attempt at having a milk bottle across that time, which was disheartening. We were told that he refused the bottle from his teacher. When I asked Desiree why another teacher didn't attempt to feed our son the bottle she said, "we want him to get used to his teacher feeding him", as though feeding our 3 month old wasn't the priority. After a frustrating first day, we decided that it would be our son's last day as we felt that the teacher was not doing an adequate job of caring for our son, nor was the teacher following the guidelines of the handbook that we were made to read and sign. We spoke with the assistant director, Desiree, and let her know that we were withdrawing our son as we did not want to risk any potential harm or future bad days. Our son has been at a different daycare in town, which has been an absolute blessing. The kindness & attentiveness provided by the teachers at the new daycare and the administrative staff have been wonderful showing us that Cadence really had let us down with just one day at their facility. We thought that our time with Cadence was in the past. That was until we received a notice that we were sent to collections in June, an entire 8 months after we unenrolled our son. We called to speak with the Cadence administrative staff to inquire why we were in collections when we hadn't heard from them since we left in October. We were informed that we owed for the week that he was enrolled & we were also charged a $25 fee for not fulfilling the payment in the first place. The frustrating thing about this is that we were unaware of any outstanding bill. At NO point in time did Cadence Academy reach out to us to let us know that we had an outstanding bill as they had previously had all of our banking information to accept deposits and previous payments. They had our email, phone numbers, & mailing address but no notices or bills came. It took 2 weeks to finally get in touch with someone that could answer our questions (thank you Theresa). Kristina (director) & Desiree (assistant director) were beyond unhelpful. When we asked Desiree who they answered to, we were told "corporate" but weren't given any helpful leads as to who to speak with. Instead we were given the generalized Cadence Academy phone number- which is just a VM & after many calls & messages, not one was returned. It wasn't until we used the websites chatbot to access a live agent who was helpful enough to get us in contact with the regional director. The regional director was able to resolve our concern & pay us back the money (as it was agreed that none of this should have happened given the circumstances). The admin team at Cadence Academy OV should be under review for their inability to do their job effectively.
