After my cleaning, which was great, Dr Maynard came in, didn't even say anything to me, and just started working on my teeth. There was no confirmation of what we were doing, never signed any kind of consent, literally nothing, just went to work. I have severe anxiety about coming to the dentist, so to not even know if I was going to be numbed or not while he started scraping and drilling on my tooth was extremely triggering. Not to mention he and the assistant talked the whole time and she continuously got distracted and wouldn't suction the spit in the back of my throat, making me have to keep asking and having him stop. At the end, the tooth kept touching my top teeth and I kept having to ask him to drill it down more, he seemed more and more annoyed each time. It still touches and is very bothersome. I have always chosen to come here because of the service. My insurance barely covers anything at this dentist office so I always get a bill after. When my bill came, I was charged for 2 of my front teeth being done. I called and they stated that he went ahead and took the old composite off of the other tooth, and exchanged it too. I was never told he was going to do this, and it honestly wasn't necessary. The composite on the other tooth was fine. I would have at least liked to have been given a choice in this matter, as I now have a 600 dollar bill that I have to pay. The composite he put in already had a crack in it, and I can feel it still when my mouth comes together, but I don't have it in me to even go back. I'm giving 3 starts because I know they can do better, and have in the past, but this last experience has me searching for a new dentist.

What started as a simple miscommunication on their behalf, lead to me being asked to find another office because he no longer wishes to treat me. LMAO. It's much easier to ditch a patient than to fix your own issues within your office, just read the reviews..... they're so bad he had to create a second yelp account. Dr Gilbert has lost all connection with his patients. You no longer get a personalized care plan, or even greeted at the door for that matter. It seems all he cares about is $$$ which is evident by the way they push cosmetic surgery (his brother is the surgeon). The front desk personnel are absolutely miserable. It's a bummer when you don't even get greeted when you enter the building, and just sit there for 15 min after your scheduled appointment, forced to watch videos of people getting liposuction. But in the event I was 10 min late, well you can read the messages they sent. Shuffled in, shuffled out, and if you're lucky you might see the Elusive Dr Gilbert, but if not you'll be told you can't speak with him, and he can't call you because he's just too busy. Like doing WHAT? You hardly see the dude.... I've brought multiple people to his practice and they've all said the same thing, and have independently decided to go elsewhere. I'd hate to throw out the baby with the bath water, but this place sucks. TLDR Walmart-esque experience, expensive, rude personnel, extremely harsh treatment, NOT GENTLE. Honestly more confusing how this is still operating as a dentist office instead of a lipo clinic..... it reminds me of the shops in foreign countries you see on the documentaries

He was gentle informative answered all my questions even the questions i never got to ask or forgot to ask very calm very zen environment. I didn't feel pressured ambushed very relaxed and easy. Side bar I have a level 10 plus anxiety with the dentist it's a childhood trauma issue. So for me to feel that relaxed dr and his team cuz collectively they are all a team did a great job at making me feel comfortable with them the office as well as moving fwd with my treatment. After over 15 years of excellent dental care with…read moreDr. Iwata in Loma Linda, I am deeply disappointed by the changes implemented since his retirement less than a year ago. The new owners, Dr. Johnson and team, require X-rays every 12 to 18 months , even though the ADA recommends X-rays every 24 to 36 months, unless there is a significant dental issue (https://www.ada.org/enmember-center/oral-health-topics/~/media/0666B35FBAFF4459814E5E635142638A.ashx). At my recent teeth cleaning appointment, I was told X-rays were MANDATORY and that the cleaning could not proceed without them. I explained that I was not interested in having X-rays since it had only been 18 months since my last set, and I've had no dental issues. Despite offering to sign a liability waiver TWICE during our conversation, the dentist refused and insisted on the X-rays. Being coerced into paying for an unnecessary service is both frustrating and UNETHICAL. Patients should have the right to make informed decisions about their care without pressure or ultimatums. This is based upon my experience of working in health care for 30+ years. Furthermore, the practice still heavily utilizes Dr. Iwata's name in texts, on their website, and in other communications, despite his retirement nine months ago. It is concerning that the new dentists' names and information are not mentioned on the website so patients can research where they went to school, work experience, etc. This reliance on Dr. Iwata's reputation and unwillingness to publicly attach their name to Dr. Iwata's FORMER practice, suggests they may be struggling to build trust with patients on their own merit. The staff, who formerly worked for Dr. Iwata, are excellent but without a competent dentist who values their patients there is not a reason to continue seeking care at this practice. Other changes include a $50 fee for canceling an appointment less than 48 hours in advance and requiring a dentist consultation at EVERY cleaning, resulting in additional charges. Under Dr. Iwata, cleanings were straightforward and did not necessitate extra fees unless the Hygienist found something of concern. Many times, Dr. Iwata would come in to assess xrays or my chart without charging a consultation fee. There are MANY excellent dentists in the area, so it is time to move on to one who RESPECTS patients, VALUES their choices, and builds trust based on their own reputation--not someone else's.

Will the new dentist my bill at the end of the day was 224 dollars which included what my insurance would pay. They required x-rays even though I had no tooth problems. At the end a dentist came in and did a Quick Look at my teeth which took no more than 3 minutes. I was charged 65.00 for this and my prior two dentist did this for free. I have my teeth cleaned every 6 months and will look for another dental office.

They will set up and make a plan for your visit and then right when you get in the chair a lady will come up and tell you that you have to pay so much more out of pocket because this or that is not included but it is not what was discussed prior to the appointment or what was set up. Add on charges additional work that needs to be done all of a sudden at the same time that was not discussed prior to in order to get money out of your pocket on top of your insurance. Do not recommend no Integrity completely dishonest and lack communication. Then place the blame on all the insurance companies. No follow-through, will completely lie to you, and no accountability for their mistakes.

After going through two failed denture experiences -- one paid out of pocket and one through my insurance -- I've been toothless for nearly six months. I've lost jobs, struggled to eat, and carried so much anxiety from everything I've been through. I went to Riverside Center for Esthetics, Dr. Jacobs, hoping this time would be different. I drove an hour because of the great reviews and prayed someone would finally help me. Instead, I left feeling worse than ever. After explaining my situation, I was met with no empathy -- only judgment. Dr. Jacobs assumed it was my fault that the other dentists failed me. He quoted me $3,100 and said he wanted the entire amount upfront because, in his words, I might say he "sucked too." He also said that if I didn't like the final denture, he would keep half of my money -- because he's "that good of a dentist." I never asked for a refund from anyone. I've only ever wanted teeth that fit and to feel normal again. To be told those words, mocked in conversation, and treated as if I were the problem was devastating. As a new patient already traumatized by past dental experiences, I needed compassion -- a simple, "I'm so sorry for what you've been through." Instead, I was shamed and blamed. How is it fair that other patients can make payments, but I was told I had to pay in full because of what happened to me? That's not fair or ethical. Dr. Jacobs, as I walked out of your office today, my head was down and my heart was heavy. I asked God, "Why me? What did I do to deserve this?"
