At $100 a night you will find that the rooms are dirty and the sides and corners of the bathroom floors caked with dirt. We found a dead mouse under our bed. Guests aren't allowed to have anyone else enter their room to even visit or will be thrown out with no refund. During my stay, the owner entered my room, walked around the room and freaked out when he saw a bathroom towel on the floor, picked it up and yelled at me but totally ignored the fact that I had used the towel to clean the bathroom floor to see how dirty it made the towel. He told me that our other guest had not paid for another night even though we were told he did and made us leave the room immediately. We had to set our belongings outside the door to move our stuff to another hotel in two trips, and when we returned to get the rest of our clothes, to our horror the old guy who cleans the rooms and lives on the premises, had taken glasses of water that had spoons with peanut butter on them and dumped the contents onto our clothes saying " that's what your clothes are worth". It is a crazy madhouse at this motel and is not recommended considering the price and strange personalities. You can stay at many other motels and hotels in the area for the same price with no harassment whatsoever.

Two couples - a king and two queen rooms for 4 days, July 2026…read more We are Best Western Rewards customers and we have stayed at this hotel many times. We reserved our rooms months in advance. When checking in we were told that all of the king rooms on the first floor are now all pet friendly and we would need to stay on the second floor. No elevator so we chose a pet friendly room because we didn't want to lug our baggage upstairs. Our king room had a bed, a table and two worn out chairs for furniture - and a new cheap linoleum flooring replacing the carpet. Right away I noticed things were 'off' at this hotel. One of our bath towels was stained, the glass door to the pool was grossly dirty, algae was growing along the bottom edge and tiles of the pool, no flowers in the huge beautiful planters, broken sun umbrellas, and the overall outside appearance wasn't being kept up. Breakfast was now the basics: scrambled eggs and sausage - but the cook was friendly! I quickly did some research and found that this hotel was recently sold. I told my wife that this hotel has seen it's best days when it was run like a little resort when the staff was friendly and you noticed them working all over the hotel. I'm afraid that is Best Western is morphing into a very basic Super 8 and is being run like one. You don't see anyone actually cleaning the pool are pool area. Nobody is cleaning tables in the breakfast area. Water is not cleaned up around the ice machines. Glass doors are dirty. This is just a clue that the hotel is being run on 'the cheap'. They still have the 'dinosaur theme' but there were no volunteers showing kids/adults the artifacts from prehistoric times. I told my wife that the best days are now gone from this hotel. 3 Stars at this Best Western - same as a Super 8.

I will start this off by saying the hotel was in the middle of remodeling during my recent stay,…read moreand safe to say our room needed it. While the majority of the hotel was fine, the mattress on the bed were rather uncomfortable (I ended up on the sofa bed because of it) and there were some large and questionable stains of the blinds. Aside from that, the place was pretty decent. Nice and quiet, excellent breakfast for a hotel, and nice staff. The location is also very convenient as it's close to some good restaurants as well as larger stores such as Target and Best Buy. Pretty good for a quick two-night stay before moving on with my travels. If the remodel does address these issues, then I'd say this is safely a 4/5 or maybe even a 5/5. However based on my only experience there, I can't really give it more than a 3/5.

The twinkling lights on the trees are really nice at night. (My Uber driver dropped me off and said "pretty" lol) The staff here was very friendly and helpful. I was in a fifth floor suite and it was really spacious, clean, bright and comfortable. It had a kitchenette with an island, dishes and spoons, dishwasher, fridge, stovetop etc, which was really a nice touch. I didn't use this in my two days here but could see how it could be really useful to travelers. There's an included breakfast every morning which was pretty decent. They have hot options like scrambled eggs, omelettes, pancakes, oatmeal, as well as the typical breads, pastries, cereals you get in a continental breakfast. I went with yogurt and fruit and granola every day which was very nice. The fruit is the typical mix you get out of a bucket, heavy on the cantaloupe and honeydew which was a tad slimy and tart. Overall though, it was super convenient to have this spread and it's really a lot nicer than a lot of other breakfasts you get at other hotels. Cozy couch. Views of the mountains in the distance. I really enjoyed my stay here. I likely will stay again because of business, but am absolutely looking forward to the next time. Big shout out to Lance who was especially pleasant and professional!

Traveling With Kids? Think Twice…read more What should have been a simple family hotel stay turned into one of the most stressful travel experiences I've ever had. I arrived just before midnight with my two children after completing mobile check-in through the Marriott Bonvoy app earlier and having a confirmed reservation. After multiple trips between the front desk and the room because our key would not work, staff finally opened the door--only for us to discover that another guest was already staying in the room that had been assigned to us. At that point, my children were exhausted and ready for bed. Instead of resolving the situation, I was told there were no rooms available for us, despite my confirmed reservation. It was incredibly upsetting to be standing in a hotel lobby late at night with two tired children and nowhere to sleep. To make matters worse, I watched other guests check in after me while I was being told there was no room for my family. The hotel ultimately sent us to a Comfort Inn at another location. We didn't have a car and had to arrange transportation in the middle of the night. By the time we arrived, it was 2am. The replacement hotel was old, dirty, and nowhere near the quality of the hotel I had booked. My children had difficulty sleeping, and what should have been a restful night became a frustrating and exhausting ordeal. I was promised that a manager would contact me to discuss what happened, but that call never came. No explanation, no accountability, and no attempt to make things right. Families depend on hotels to provide the basic security of knowing they have a room waiting for them at the end of a long day. Unfortunately, that did not happen here. Being left without a room after midnight with two children despite a confirmed reservation is something no family should have to experience. Gold Elite status, confirmed reservation, checked in with room assigned all meant nothing.

Kimberly checked us in early. She was super nice, one of the nicest hotel staff we have encountered. She gave us welcome bottled waters and popcorn. There's a coffee maker & a small fridge w/o a freezer in the room. Love the breakfast set up. They have 3-4 hot item, breads, yogurt, juices, dairy & nondairy milks, 2 Belgian waffle makers, 3 types of fresh fruits, 3 types of cereal, yogurt, oatmeal, & coffee. There is ample seating just in front of the breakfast buffet/dining room, so you'll have no problem finding a table & chairs, and you can spread out while enjoying breakfast. Last but not least, I love the gym with 24 hour access. It has elliptical machines, treadmills, free weights, & 2 weight benches, adequate for a full workout.

At 3:30 a.m., I received a text informing me that a $500 charge was being added to our stay because we had allegedly smoked or vaped in our room at 9:43 p.m. the night before. We did not smoke or vape in the room. In fact, we were asleep at the time we were accused of doing so. What's especially frustrating is how the hotel handled it. If a sensor indicated something was happening in our room, someone could have simply come upstairs and investigated at the time. That would have immediately established that no one was smoking or vaping. Instead, nothing was done until 3:30 in the morning, when someone decided that was an appropriate time to text a guest and accuse them of violating hotel policy and incurring a $500 charge. I then spent more than an hour in the middle of the night texting and speaking on the phone with an employee, who acknowledged that these sensors can produce false alerts and can potentially be triggered by things like shower steam. He asked that we speak again in the morning, which we did. I expected that conversation to include an apology. Instead, I heard explanations about hotel protocol, employee training, and how the process needs to be improved. I'm paying more than $1,400 for this stay. Why am I spending my vacation and my time helping a hotel figure out how to properly handle its own systems and procedures? There are countless hotels to choose from. Why would I choose to return to one where I can be falsely accused of something, threatened with a $500 charge, contacted at 3:30 in the morning about it, and then spend more than an hour of my trip trying to prove something that never happened? Based on other reviews, I'm also clearly not the first guest to raise concerns about this issue. A hotel should investigate an accusation before treating a sensor alert as fact and charging a guest hundreds of dollars. This entire situation was unnecessary, poorly handled, and incredibly frustrating. We were people who genuinely loved staying at the Halcyon. We had stayed here before, recommended the hotel to others, and chose to come back because we had such positive experiences. Somehow, in the course of one night, the hotel managed to turn loyal, enthusiastic guests into people who will not stay here again and will certainly no longer recommend it to others.
