Let me preface this by saying that I have been using this facility on and off for more than 35 years. That said, it has fallen far from where it once was. Despite the many advances in technology, the level of competence and leadership of this facility has dropped significantly. I now trust the Dayton VA more than the 88th medical group, and if you're a veteran, you know that is a bold statement. For standard daily care, the clinics are average among most facilities, of which I have a fairly extensive experience. The 88th will likely never match the level of care available at most Navy medical facilities but on it's own, the advanced care staff are downright dangerous, most particularly the surgical staff. I have 35 years, 50 hospitalizations and 35 surgeries behind me, including here at Wright Patterson, and I have never seen this level of absolute incompetence anywhere, ever. Do not let them touch your dependents unless you plan to spend the rest of your life caring for them after being utterly debilitated and infectious with MRSA for life. Thar is not an exaggeration at all. Avoid theire surgeons and critical care staff like the plague. read more

I went in simply to schedule my baby's one year check up. But they were actually able to get us an appointment for the same day! We killed an hour (and enjoyed the Wednesday lunch-time food trucks in the parking lot) and came back. They took us in right on time. And the tests and shots he needed afterwards were easily taken care of - little to no wait! Also, Nurse Hallock will take good care of you if you ever have to visit the ER! read more

I have been going to the Wright-Patterson AFB Medical Center for several years now. It is hard sometimes to get an appointment and they book it way out unless it's almost an emergency and severe. The medical staff has always been nice and I never had any complaints. I had an appointment for an annual check up this morning. The Tech and Doctor where super nice. The doctors took her time to answer all my questions- which I really appreciate. The only thing I hate is the loooooong wait at the pharmacy. They now adopted a new system where you drop of your ticket after called and then wait for your name to show up on a screen. Does it reduce wait time? Nope.... You might want to bring a book because you can easily wait at least for a full hour before you receive your medication. read more

Pharmacy's new way of dropping off and waiting to pick up prescriptions is ridiculous. I have been here waiting for over an hour. Took 15 minutes to drop off and and an hour later still waiting. read more

Waited for three and a half hours in the ER waiting room for my wife to be seen for a sore throat and aches and pains. Once we were finally brought back to a room three different nurses, a captain a staff sergeant and a senior airman, all came in at different times to take her vitals. The second two, the Sgt and the Sra, both stated they were there to check them since no one else had taken them. We told them that the vitals had been taken and we stated the names of the people who came in to take them. No communication in an ER is kind of a scary thing. Then once the doctor finally came in he was going to give my wife Motrin. Now I waited with my wife for three and a half hour to be told that they are going to give her Motrin? That's BS. This has happened two other times and and they both have prescribed Motrin. After doing the whole Motrin BS my wife has been sick for some time after each visit. If the Air Force doctors would give antibiotics instead of some medication that I can go buy at CVS or Target then maybe this review would have gotten more stars and been coming from a happy military member. Until then Wright Patterson Medical Center needs a major change and I will not be taking my wife to this hospital. I pay for tricare and I want the best treatment for myself and my family that are covered on tricare. New visit update: Back again 4 days later because oh yeah the Motrin didn't help my wife and now her symptoms have worsened. Tricare couldn't find us anywhere else to go so we are back. Nobody in the waiting room and it early morning so that was a good sign. Wife gets the vitals and then back to a room. They ask if the wife wants a blanket. Blanket comes and the damn blanket has blood or some other bodily fluid on it!!! Freaking sick!!!! read more

Horrible! My 22 year old daughter with high anxiety was told from the Labor and Delivery not to come back until she could not talk when she was having contractions. The staff was rude and very inexperienced. My daughter had asked for a C-section throughout her whole pregnancy the doctors ignored her request. My daughter went into labor and called labor and delivery and was told not to come in yet due to someone else was in labor. Compliments to the chef, the food here melts in your mouth and the flavor that they manage to insert into their therapeutic diets is of the highest caliber! My wife just had twins and usually refuses to eat hospital food but after looking at the menu provided to us by a great patriot she could not resists the temptation of the pancakes or teriyaki pasta! Lastly Dr Wenckus and the rest of the child birthing staff did a spectacular job with the safe and well executed delivery of our twins. They could easily hold an in service on the successful use of teamwork! read more

Overall this facility has been pretty great. Staff is wonderful. They are always willing to help you out when you get lost in one of their mammoth wings. Parking is decent although it can get pretty packed. Pharmacy waits can be brutal. Bring a book. Food options are limited and not that great. The coffee stand in the lobby is your best bet. Don't forget your popcorn! Definitely the best part of the visit :) read more

I have never received anything but excellent care here. I am a medical professional and my standards are high. In the 25+ years I've received care at WPMC, the staff has saved my life TWICE with accurate, early diagnosis and treatment, and has consistently performed above expectations, going out of their way to follow through and make sure all bases are covered. Long waits in the emergency room are generally due to the triage process, which puts NON-life-threatening conditions lower on the priority scale. read more
