An absolute horrible experience. Wright Autoworks was recommended and had good reviews. Having spoken with John I initially felt that I had found a competent and honest repair shop so I decided to drop off my car to resolve some electrical issues I had with some interior lights and my telescopic steering column not extending. I paid several hundred dollars for a diagnostic on the electrical system. While at it I had some pin hole leaks in the cooling system which required attention. I paid for a pressure test which confirmed the leak and a possible need for a water pump. Their quote for a water pump and incidentals was over $4,000.00. Note: the going rate for Jaguar water pump replacement range from $800 to $1,000.00! Additionally and although I did not ask for a quote for any suspension work I was quoted over $22,000.00 for a total suspension rebuild even though the car is not experiencing any noticeable suspension issues! Obviously I declined these quotes but decided to go ahead and have them repair the interior lights and steering column which was my main concern. Low and behold and after over two weeks and over $2,000.00 the only thing which was repaired was a single light bulb! No kidding. The steering column still does not extend, a short effecting the lights in the vanity mirrors was not repaired and the missing dome light was not replaced as requested leaving a hole in the headliner. What I learned at a cost of over $2,000.00 is to never go back to Wright Auto Works and I encourage you to do the same. read more

My car's air conditioning broke on my way to Charleston for a long weekend. I went to Wright's based off of recommendations of friends who live in Mt. Pleasant. I was very pleased with my experience at Wright's. I took my car in on a busy Friday and was worried that my car would not be able to be serviced (hours are Monday to Friday). I let Wright's know about my concern but told them that I was willing to leave my car for the day. I received a call from Wright's at lunchtime letting me know about the status of my car and informing me about the needed changes. They repaired the belt in my car and bypassed my air conditioning unit. The car is in good working condition to return home--just without air conditioning. Wright's provided me with an estimate on the cost to repair the air conditioning so that I would know what to expect when I return home. Car trouble is always a headache--and car trouble away from home is the worst! Thanks to Wright's for helping me make better a potentially miserable experience! read more

I have lived in Mount Pleasant for 10 years, and I finally found a great place, thanks to a recommendation from one of my clients! I receive free oil changes at my dealership in North Charleston, however I always have such a poor experience there and have to wait for three hours for an oil change. l Called and made an appointment, and was in and out in a half an hour. My review will not be a good one, rather a night mare!! I took my 1937 show Dodge pickup there for repairs after confirming it would be stowed inside!! Two weeks later after a confrontation, I was told to leave and they would not work on my auto regardless, which meant, the brakes would not stop me when I left, the shaking was still in the front and it still had the short causing it not to start!! It also meant the car had not been stored inside, but rather INSIDE a fence!! The car had never seen rain for only God knows how long!!! I can no longer say that!! New scratches are on the front head lights when the hood raised front both sides. I did not invest over $20,000 in a truck to see it treated this way and neither would you!! The brakes were good when I arrived and it has stopped me every time I used the pedal since December when I purchased it. I told them another front end shop had told me the two front rims were bent and could be some of the problem, but they did not check and see. I took it to Hay Tire and performed the above procedure and shaking is gone and it cost me $40.00 and I have a receipt tp prove it days after I left Wrights.. Hay Tire would not perform brake work, as they said it calls for tools they do not have since it is a 1937 auto!! I appreciated the honesty!! Needless to say we had a HEATED discussion on it at Wrights and the manager told me to leave and not return, even though, the above problems existed and my bill was $508.08!! The good-The heating was really no overhearing, but rather the truck had a max temperature of 210 FH and the thermostat was a 180FH, simply causing me to look at it as if it were running hot when it was actually about 200FH, my mistake. Friendly people that work here. My car broke down and they were able to fix it in one day. Fast service!!! The only downfall was the cost to repair it, $428.00 for an alternator and to install it. They were very dishonest! My key wasn't able to start my car. They said it was because of the key switch. They quoted me $350. I paid $800. They gave me the wrong keys - no auto lock / unlock on it - because they can't help me there. But the worst part - I went out of town, locked the door. When I come back to unlock the door - THE KEY DOES NOT WORK!!! Apparently they can't make a key to fit that lock, only the dealer can - and they don't even bother to let me know. I was robbed. They will not refund money. They will not help. They charged me more than the dealer would have and I still have to go back to the dealer to get keys. Poor service. Dishonest people. My second time this year using Wright's service... They seem to price very well vs other local mechanics ... which is my biggest challenge since I have an old Land Rover. But the quality I experience from Doug and the crew is top notch. Haven't encountered a problem they can't fix. If I had to chose one word I'd say 'Trust'. Relating an experience that I recently had at this shop in MP. Had a prospective buyer for an 07 Toyota that wanted their mechanic shop to evaluate the vehicle. Had to wait 40 minutes past the appt time, but it was a necessity to complete the sale and accepted that. Got a call from the potential buyer who informed my wife that the mechanic told her that the car had "rust on the underside and on the frame" and that was a deal breaker. I call Wrights and finally get in touch with the so-called mechanic, James. He practically pees all over himself trying to put the blame on the buyer after I tell him that the car spent 5 years in North Georgia where it daily drove up a red clay driveway to reach the house. Two other shops (experts with Toyota vehicles) were emphatic and put in writing that the "Staining" on the undercarriage is NOT rust, but mud or clay residue. Calls to the owner of Wrights have gone unanswered and so I'm forced to get his attention through informing the public and hopefully current clients that they may not be getting the best service by using Wrights. read more

I would give this place no stars because they are just that horrible. We dropped off a car to have the engine fixed. They said it would take a week. Three fucking weeks later we still don't have the car. There are no excuses for this. All they do is come up with excuse after excuse. It has been three weeks and they have nothing to show for it. I went by there earlier in the week and they said the technician was working on another car instead! Being down to a one car family has made both me and husband take off from work. I have had to take off eight hours in the past three weeks!!! That's $400.00 on my paycheck I am out of!! And that doesn't include my husbands paycheck. My husband went to go get the car that they said will be ready this morning and sat there waiting for four hours and then they tell him that they have to take it apart again because something was put together right! After charging us so much money to have it repaired in the first place they are costing us money on top it. I have never wanted to burn down an establishment more. DO NOT GO HERE! read more
