I was really disappointed and decided to call the HQ in VA Beach. I was put in touch with Jen the director of their surfboard department and my experience was completely turned around. Jen was professional, listened to my plight and went above and beyond to make things right. She put me in touch with Chris the manager in the obx shop and he carried the torch to the finish line. While speaking to Jen I discovered that they try to use American made products and materials as often as possible. That they really care about their employees and have a deep bench of experienced people that have been with them for many years. WRV is a large company and after the email shuffle I was sure that I wasn't important enough for my problems to be addressed. Jen completely proved me wrong and made me feel that not only was I important as a customer but everyone that works for them and the community around our beaches and in the lineup are number one when it comes to their business. WRV has made a believer out of me when it comes to great people and a solid business model. I will be a lifelong customer after this experience.

It was only when he came back in that I realized he worked at Skate Supply, but he was super-nice nonetheless. He asked me if I was there for the raffle (he obviously made an educated guess since I've never been there before) and he took my contact info. He asked if I was interested in buying a t-shirt they were selling to promote the shoe's release and, because he was so cool about it, I said, "Yes," and pre-ordered. I think I got a second raffle entry by buying the shirt, but it looked cool, was a reasonable price and I'd be supporting a local shop. We also talked about the shoe in question (Travis Scott x Nike SB Dunk Low "Cactus Jack") and joked a bit about its release policy. Well they contacted me again to apologize for not not being here on time and offered to get a different board in place of it until it arrives so my son would at least have something and we could just swap out when his actual Deck came in. I've supported this shop for a few years now, but after my recent experience, I'm done. I purchased…read morea set of bearings for $50 after they were recommended by the clerk. The bearings were installed on my board without giving me the original packaging, and my old bearings were handed back to me wrapped in a paper towel. On top of that, my receipt listed the item as a vague "custom item." In hindsight, this feels like an intentional move to hide the brand and prevent me from looking up what I actually bought. After being disappointed with their performance, I removed a wheel to investigate and discovered the same bearings are sold online for $19.50-$21.99. A 150% markup is absurd--especially with zero transparency. I fully support local businesses, but this felt like a blatant rip-off. It's frustrating and disappointing to feel taken advantage of by a shop I've trusted for years. Unfortunately, this was the last straw. I won't be returning.
