Crazy money for what you get. The most expensive gym we've ever been to by A LOT and couldn't find an explanation for why, they don't have anything any other gym hasn't had in the area, in fact it was lacking in some amenities IMO -the rating system was absolutely not accurate for bouldering, we have a variety of climbing levels in our family and the inconsistency with the ratings was insane, not a whole lot to climb if you are a v3/4 or under, felt like the route setters don't understand what a lower level is capable of. -it was packed, really really packed. -my daughters were disappointed there were no auto belays, which is a strange choice in that type of facility. -overall no one acted like there was any kind of community experience, not a seemingly very social place, everyone seemed to be in their own little space. Just overall a very weird feeling for a climbing gym. It was pretty and sure it has a ton of rope climbing but overall I'd pick a different gym without hesitation for the money.

After a brief intro with the Director she was then placed with coaches and a team. Those coaches proceeded to basically ignore her and never had her work in with the team and after two hours of just standing there being ignored we decided to leave. Attempts at communication after the fact was also essentially ignored. I get that they likely don't have to try very hard to attract athletes but this was an egregious lack of professionalism. I'd seek other gyms if you can.

Trying to get someone to answer emails can also be difficult. They offer early access for their clothing shop but it's a $25 golden ticket and rarely have plus sizes for their gear.

The courts are impressive. The saunas and pool are in great condition. The free-weight section has everything you could possibly want. The number and types of machines are state-of-the-art, nothing appears to be neglected, and everything operates smoothly. Whether you're a beginner or hard-core about your training, you will find exactly what you need in this facility. Additionally, the cardio sections are very nice with plenty of screens to keep your mind occupied. The Whitlock Recreation Center, in general, is spotless -- the floors shine, the dressing rooms are impeccably clean, and the equipment is gleaming. Needless to say, I can't cover everything -- they have it all! I highly suggest that anyone who wants a first-class recreational environment to check it out for yourself. I've worked in and worked out in fitness centers and gyms for 50 years, and I've pretty much seen the full range of what these types of places have to offer. At first I thought the small basement pool was bad, but I soon realized that it's an excellent teaching aid, keeping the kids close to the teacher at all times so they can make their strokes perfect. It's also got a deep end so the kids can learn to dive, something our kids hadn't been able to do in some other Lakewood pools. When we had to reschedule or cancel lessons, Jaime the manager was always very friendly and flexible, offering convenient make up lessons, etc.

I've come here, off and on, for years to work out and swim. The locker rooms are reasonably clean and all the gym equipment is well maintained and it all works. The climbing wall is always a lot of fun and a great upper body workout. The only reason I didn't give this a five star rating is that it's often extremely crowded and the children running, screaming and acting the fool can be hard on my nerves. Plus, I think the pool is a touch too warm. I'm a Southern California girl and pools are for cooling off. Swimming in warm bath water just makes me tired and hot. Your mileage may vary.

This gym already produced a couple elite Olympians including Alexander (Sasha) Artemev (Bronze medalist champion from Beijing, 2008) and 2021Tokyo hopeful, Yul Moldauer!   My two boys have been members of this gym for a few years now- one is on the competitive team, the other enjoys the recreational practices! It is definitely a kid approved gym! Both boys love their coaches and enjoy their practices! It is really rewarding to watch them grow and constantly improve their gymnastics skills with a smile on their face.  The coaches are awesome! They are friendly, professional and they truly care for our athletes with all their hearts. It is noticeable they feel it is not only their profession, but it's their passion too! They know how much to push and challenge a kid to get them to the next level of skill. It is done with such finesse, that the children do not even notice. Basically, it feels like each athlete experiences an individually "tailored" program, based on their needs and progress. Coaches are not only training them gymnastics skills, but also incorporating values such as respect, integrity, humility, team work, and determination. They are always encouraging and inspiring. My sons are stronger, flexible, more focused and disciplined because of 5280 Gymnastics. This gym made us feel like we were at our second home from day one!    From a practical stand point, the gym offers an online access to stream our children's class during their practice from anywhere - that is an amazing feature! Also, there is Wifi at the facility, which is a great perk for working parents, if they have to sit and wait for the class to finish.  I've recommended this gym to my friends whose children have joined and they love it too! If anyone is looking for a healthy after-school activity for their kids, this is the place!  Finally, a noteworthy fact is 5280 Gymnastics trained many athletes (boys and girls) who were recruited and awarded college gymnastics full ride scholarships. With the new times now of COVID-19, 5280 Gymnastics is very "sterile"and compliant with all the health departments recommendations. I've signed up my 3 years old months ago and I was put on a waitlist. Finally received an email that a spot opened up and I called but - as usual - it goes to voicemail. Now, I'm Italian but I've been in the US for over 10 years, I do have an accent - of course - but I'm fluent in English (and another 3 languages) and I've NEVER experienced anything like this from a 'business'. Needless to say I will NOT be sending my daughter here because I can only imagine the type of people that work here and I don't want her subject to this level of ignorance! Please educate yourself!
