I have been a lifelong customer of Wuolett's Bakery at 50th and France. My mom ordered everyone of my birthday cakes from Wuoletts Bakery. I planned the theme,flavor,and cake for everyone of my Birthdays.. I ordered a dozen Easter cupcakes from the Wayzata location for my families brunch. I picked them up yesterday and they were in 2 plastic boxes,not the signature white boxes that I have had for all of my other previous orders and they did not resemble the Holiday cupcakes that I always picked up. If I wanted boxed cupcakes I could have gone to Lunds and paid $6.99 a half dozen,instead I paid over $40 for a dozen cupcakes squished in a box with some plastic figures on top. My kids joked about my Cub Foods cupcakes and I relplied no these are y Wuollets. I am sad that you have cheapened the ingredients,and product but kept the big price tag. I will never order anything from your bakery again,I can go to the grocery store and get boxed cupcakes. From the frosting,cake batter and packaging this was truly disappointing... $40 should buy me Magnolia Bakery cupcakes which are truly worth the money. A friend gave me a gift card for Christmas. I stopped in for 4 donuts for my wife and I. I also picked up a chocolate cake of some sort, a torte maybe? First of all, the selection of donuts was less than you would expect from a gas station. Second, when I got home we tried them. They were either stale beyond belief OR so poorly made as to be inedible. I most of all four ended up in the trash. On the other hand, the chocolate cake/torte/whatever was exquisite!! read more

I stopped in to pick up my supplies for the VYEE: Cupcake Decorating with Wuollet Bakery, which could not have been easier. I selected my items online, paid via credit card, Anya texted me to confirm pickup; done! The bakery was easy to find and had a parking lot right next to the building. When I picked up my order, one of my 'extra' items was not available (S'mores cookie). The very helpful person at the counter offered a few ideas for substitution and I selected a Triple Chocolate cookie. I had also ordered a croissant for myself. Imagine my surprise when I got home and there were TWO cookies. That's great customer service! The croissant was perfectly butter-y and flake-y. The cookies were decadent and so rich. This place was my go-to for brownies and bars in the past. I don't know what happened in recent months, but the availability has been limited. I asked if they had any brownies but an employee snapped back at me, saying they didn't have any. I then said it's okay if they're frozen (I've bought them frozen in the past) but got no response. Online it said they open at 7, dude didn't show up until exactly 7. He needed time to prep and get ready, which is understandable, but arrive earlier then. Like 6:45 or something. I used to work in a chain coffee shop and getting there early was part of the deal. Also why is it just one worker? I realize though why he only needed a minute to open, they use a coffee machine that brews cups of coffee to order, similar to a gas station machine. Tastes like it too, no flavor, very weak coffee. Donuts tasted like they were from the gas station as well, literally nothing to even tell about them aside from how disappointing they were. I don't even write reviews EVER but I was so let down. This location was a 4/5 star location a few years ago. It has definitely gone downhill. $3.75 is a lot to pay for a doughnut that is about the quality of what you would expect at a gas station for half that. I was there early on a Sunday and the person working was unable to make anything with coffee, having only a vacuum pot of coffee available. Years ago, Woollet was the place to go for baked goods. Not anymore. It appears this place was milked to nothing. There weren't even any customers which is probably a good thing because there was very little product available. This place is done when the national coffee chain opens nearby because there is no feeling of comfort or care about the customer or product. The place has the feel of a bakery time left behind. I love birthdays. But let's be real, who doesn't like a birthday? It's a day when everyone celebrates you, and showers you with gifts and attention. But when I say I love birthdays I mean more than just referring to my birthday, I'm referring to all birthdays in general. What do I like so much about birthdays? The cake! Smells so delicious inside! I went in for the first time today and didn't realize previously that they have lattes and lots of flavor options. I got a lavender vanilla latte and maple donut because I couldn't resist the smell! Donut was very good, not super duper fresh. I think bakeries are my favorite kind of little shop and Wuollet Bakery hasn't let me down! They have a variety of cakes. I tried a slice of the carrot cake to go and I had to split it between two dinners. It was so rich! I really am not a fan of frosting. I am fine with getting frosting on the side if that was an option but the frosting on my carrot cake was pretty good and I didn't mind having a heap of frosting with my cake. Now that is saying a lot! But what will make me come back is the apple cream cheese danish. It could be the perfect breakfast to go, surprise sweet to bring to work, or dessert after dinner. The staff have always been kind and helpful. Don't forget to order a coffee while you're there! Parking lot available along with street parking. read more

I went into the bakery on Thursday 12/14/23. Usually every year, I go in and buy their boxes of Christmas cookies, breadsticks, and assorted Christmas cookies from cookies under the glass shelves. First of all I was shocked that there was no one in the store, usually many people, and I have to wait to get serviced. The biggest shock is that there were no shelves with boxes of anything, actually no shelves at all. Only cookies and some donuts in the glass cases. I did see one box of cookies on the counter where you check out (none that I wanted). I asked the person that was working there, where were the Christmas cookies. She said that they were in the back room, but no boxes to put them in. I then asked if she could put some in a bag for me, and she stated she did not know the quantity to do that. I walked out and decided I would order from the shop on E 50th, but in reading the reviews, not sure that I want to do that. I know that they have a new owner as of 3 years ago, and it is sad to see that what used to be a wonderful place, where I would order special cakes for birthdays, has gone down hill and the person at the 50th store is swearing at customers that were unhappy, as it seems the recipes are different and the cake decorating not up to par. read more

Looks like the negative reviews are mainly about the prices and I concur they are a little steep but they do have quality and a fine house blend coffee that is a dark roast. There are about five tables if you want to hang around and sip and nosh. Nice big windows (my weakness) to observe the street life (or lack of hee hee) in dt Robbinsdale. I had the plain cake donut and found it is a bit bigger and fluffier than other places that charge less. The cakes look impressive so if you are picked to bring the cake to a gathering these cakes would make a big hit if your willing to shell out the bucks. The Robbinsdale Wuollet is awesome. I seem to end up at a Wuollet pretty often even though I'm not the biggest Wuollet fan in general. I don't have a single bad thing to say about them, there's just not a signature item that I crave. But the Robbinsdale location is special. There's none of the pretentiousness or impatience that I've experienced at other locations. (Big props to Wuollet for operating on the North Side) The sample plates are more likely to be full, and with larger pieces. They offer my kids a free cookie without me even having to ask. The coffee is solid. I like that there are often people sitting at the little tables having Very Important civic conversations. And I really like the fountain outside. That fountain entertains my kids while I finish my iced coffee. I'd like to give 4 1/2 stars, but I'm going for five. read more

When my husband and I arrived with our three years old, we were greeted warmly, and received great service from the man behind the counter. We told him we had a groupon and he happily provided us with suggestions on what to get!! I would recommend you get the sticky buns! They are so yummy and not too sweet!!! Perfect!! This bakery has really gone downhill from years prior under a different owner. The new owners of the bakery changed all the recipes of the products and they don't taste good. I used to get carrot cake cupcakes and cake all the time but they changed it adding nuts (which I don't mind but they didn't warn anyone) and the frosting which I was so sad about. It tastes way more like straight cream cheese. Not good. The caramel pecan croissant roll used to be to DIE FOR. I went this morning and there literally was no caramel on the top like usual and it looked white not golden brown like usual. Everything in the case looked dry and unappealing. Stock was low a customer before me was asking for a specific item and they just didn't have it and so they all left without buying anything. The cupcakes used to be a regular size but they made them smaller not quite bite size but really close to. The prices are high for the quality to be so low. I ordered a cake back in April for a birthday they messed up the writing and color. Honestly Cub foods has a better bakery selection and quality then this supposed old school from scratch bakery. I think this is the last nail in the coffin for me sadly. read more

Stopped in for a sweet treat and decided on a Snickerdoodle cookie and a Sugar cookie. They were fairly small cookies, but priced appropriately. There were a bunch of cupcakes that looked phenomenal, but I'll have to go back another day to try those out. Anyways, was expecting to like the sugar cookie more, but surprisingly the snickerdoodle was the clear winner of the two! Since it's gotten cold out I rarely walk the two blocks to Wuollet's for coffee anymore, which is sad because that means no more of the FREE SAMPLES that are essential to maintaining my figure. Anyway, the pastries here are pretty much perfect. The garlic toast and the soup also rule. One or two of the employees aren't the nicest people in the world (I'm looking at you, guy who always looks like he's judging me) but the rest of them are pretty awesome so it all balances out. I'm also not a big fan of the way they handle the line when it's super busy. On a recent weekday one customer asked MR. JUDGY PANTS if he should take a number and MR. JUDGY PANTS just stared at him and turned his back. Meanwhile, the line grew and confusion started to set in. Maybe they use the number system on the weekends? This is one of the roomier, nicely decorated ones. I'll never complain about 2.25 for a cupcake again. It's better than any of the 3 buck absurdities I've had. They have a huge variety. Even though smores was the flavor of the day, I got a delicious cherry buttercream. One thing they have that is genius, is a sink next to the waste basket and coffee station, so you can dump extra liquid before disposing of a cup. Wuollet used to be the gold standard, but not anymore. I purchased a German chocolate birthday cake. The list price of the cake is $48 which is pricey but would be tolerable if the product was good. This cake was so dry we couldn't eat it unless we covered it in ice cream. Even the coconut topping was dry. It was also covered around the sides with hard chocolate (not frosting). We were told to keep the cake refrigerated so the chocolate was covered with condensation and looked terrible. For $48 dollars I expect an edible cake, this was awful.
