This seemed excessive, expensive and unnecessary. My co-worker told me that he made the switch to Middletown Veterinary with his vet reactive dog, so we thought we'd try. Our last visit, our dog only cried once. My husband was so proud, he talked about it for days. Our other dog and cat are easy at the vet but are provided with great care as well. THIS FACILITY DID NOT HAVE THE PROPER SUPPLIES TO CARE FOR MY PUPPY AND CHARGED ME A $126 EXAM FEE. I adopted a puppy with a broken leg. The puppy had a cast on her leg that was put on at a local emergency hospital. I went to Middletown Veterinary Hospital about 2 1/2 weeks after the puppy's cast was put on. When I made the same day appointment, I explained that I had a puppy in a cast that needed follow-up care, specifically for the broken limb and I forwarded the x-rays from the emergency vet, as requested. In the exam room, I was given a price estimate for vaccines by the Vet Tech. I respectfully declined the vaccines at that time, stating that I understood the importance, but I came specifically to follow up about the broken limb. I was told by the vet tech that it is the LAW for a dog to have a rabies vaccine and that the Vet will discuss this further. The Vet stated that they could not do the follow up because they did not have "casting materials" in stock and could not x-ray the puppy with the cast on. So, the cast would have to be removed for the x-ray and if the limb was still broken, they could not recast it. I told them that since they couldn't do the follow-up, I didn't need to be there because the puppy needed a follow up for the broken limb and that was the purpose for our visit. The Vet apologized for the "miscommunication" and stated that they did not know what this appointment was for. I explained that I specifically stated the purpose for the visit and even sent the x-rays. The Vet told me that she was in the middle of the exam and I would have to pay for the time slot anyway. I told her to continue the exam and that I respected her time. She replied that I did not really appear to respect her time at all. I explained again that I specifically stated what the purpose of this visit was when I made the appointment. I expressed that I was concerned about the puppy and the length of time she has been in the cast with no follow up care. I explained that I recently took ownership of the puppy and had no way to get her to a follow-up appointment sooner. The Vet said "Sorry, for the miscommunication" and then as she was leaving the exam room the Vet said, "GOOD LUCK". I paid $126 for the vet to examine the puppy and take her temperature.

We love that he does home visits, it's far less stressful for our cats and bird and takes less time and money for all our pets to receive their veterinary care on the same day in the comfort of our home. He also has a really nice office in Rock Hill with a great staff and two other veterinarians, both of whom we also really like. He is great with our cats and bird, none of which are the easiest patients. We value his veterinary services, and when we get farm animals (hopefully soon) we'll be glad to have him come over to see to all of our animals. He has been our vet for a few years now and has helped our senior cat through his serious condition and our cat has lived well beyond his expectancy with this condition, thanks to Dr. Joe putting him on all the right medications and overseeing his care closely - even when he is at his busiest he always makes time for our guy!

They made a perfunctory exam of her teeth, did a $300 pre-op bloodwork panel, and gave me an estimate of $1,500-$2,500 for the procedure. I decided to get a second opinion and went to All Animal Veterinary Services. Dr. Acworth thoroughly examined my dog's teeth and determined that she did not need a dental procedure AT ALL. She suggested that I just brush her teeth, and I left there with my dog who had her rabies shot, heartworm test, and nail trim, as well as all the necessary items to clean her teeth, for less than $250. I recommend Dr. Acworth highly. She is informative, efficient, pleasant, and thorough. The staff are personable, friendly, and very informative, as well. I am so glad I decided to get a second opinion. My dog will be going to All Animals Veterinary Services for her health needs from now on. Thank you, Dr. Acworth, and staff!

I was put on a waiting list on Friday and on Saturday they were able to accomodate me. The entire staff of reception, vet techs and Dr. Barnhorst could not have been any nicer and more respectful. I had taken this cat twice to my regular vet and I got the distinct feeling over the phone that they would want to run diagnoatic tests prior to agreeing to euthanize my cat. The only thing that Tri State required was vaccination records. Dr. Barnhorst made the offer to let my cat live outside on her farm. It was a generous offer but I declined it since the cat had significant urination issues, had a recent case of digestive upset and had vomited yesterday, The cat lived inside all his life and I was looking to end his pain because he was a very stressed out kitty as of late waking me at 4:00 a.m. to eat. They did not make me fill out tons of paperwork which was very appreciated. In advance I made the decision to take the kitty home with me for burial. Having heard the cost for group cremation, I thought their pricing was very fair in compare to the crematorium quote I had received from a facility in Milford, PA. In the end we opted for home burial. The entire process was the least stressful I have seen. The cat received a sedative injection. When he was all relaxed she shaved a spot on his leg and administered the euthansia fluid into a vein in his leg. I am glad they did not need to use a catheter because that always stresses the pet out. They wanted to give me a cardboard box to take my kitty home but I declined since it was easier to put him in the bag I brought, then put him in the carrier and bring him home for burial. If my other three cats need veterinary care, I will definitley bring them back to this practice.

Her gentle approach and genuine empathy make all the difference during even the most difficult visits. The vet techs and veterinary assistants at VETCO are just as incredible. They are patient, knowledgeable, and so kind with every pet that walks through the door. You can tell they love what they do and take pride in giving exceptional care.
