What stands out as spectacular is the decor and ambiance - you feel transported to another time and place, which is so fun! The hostess is unnecessarily rude and curt - a poor first impression, and servers are not well-versed on the menu and allergens. The menu misidentified items for gluten, vegetarian, vegan, etc. so please double check before ordering. They have taken off many of their popular items from the menu. And also their mocktails. We had made this reservation assuming we had more options, only to find out once we got there that they now have a very limited menu. Nonetheless, the food was really good. The flavors were amazing and every last taste bud on my tongue left quite satisfied.
They e done a menu update since last visit but still awesome and I will still come back!! Service is good and this time at cash out got a corn muffin and omg so good. !!
Frank helped us out on our first visit. He's the mug wizard. Since then, numerous employees have helped us. All friendly and welcoming. This is the best tiki bar in Boston/Cambridge area. Probably in the state if I think about it. Legit cocktails. Very, very good food. Veg options. Creative and affordable mugs. An adjacent parking structure (the only one in Harvard Square). The place is unicorn material. I've been here maybe four times over several years. Shame on me for finishing this cumulative review now. The good news is every visit was solid. I've been here as a small and also large party. Sat at both the bar and table. Had reservations and also walked in. Visited in the summer and also winter. Weekends are tough to get in without a resy. It's tiny. And its Cambridge. Weekdays you'll be fine but reserve anyway. It's free. From bar to tables to booths, you're covered with seating. Can they serve a table for ten? Maybe but I wouldn't be that person. Check ahead of time. Drinks are strong. Sometimes sweet but mostly balanced. Food is yummy. Plenty of vegetarian and vegan options clearly marked on the menu. Serving dishes and bowls are fun too: skulls/shells/etc. Enjoy this hidden secret. And don't steal the mugs. Buy them--they're so reasonable.
We came to wusong road on a trip up to Boston after getting the recommendation from a friend who comes here every time they visit. Funny enough when we visited my friend was also in town that weekend and by happenstance we happened to get to the restaurant at the same time. I would definitely make reservations because I did not realize you would need a reservation for a Wednesday night, but we did. Luckily we were able to give our name and they had a cancellation and were able to be seated within 20 to 30 minutes. The upstairs is pretty cool. I really like the decor. One of my favorites was these monkey lamps they had. The food was pretty good and we had gotten a slider for my son which basically filled him up. My wife and I split a poo poo platter and got an appetizer and that was enough for us. The drinks were really good. We had gotten a few to try. I like my first one and really enjoyed my second one. I asked the waitress for a recommendation and she made one and then when we went for our second round she did say she was new to the job so I went with something I knew I would like. They also sell some of their mugs which is a cool bonus. If your into tiki drinks definitely pick up a wusong road branded mug when you stop by. We got two.
We have hit the motherlode! Wusong is the shiznit and has yet to disappoint in any way (other than the distance from my home). Really well done tropical and tiki vibe, creative rotating drinks menu, and so much work clearly goes into the food offerings. It can be busy, even late on a Sunday night, so be prepared or make reservations. Go here. Often. Love ya, Wusong!
This was my first time dining at Wusong's and the experience was wonderful. Our server Brianna was so kind and provided the best service I have had in the city. The vibes of this place are adorable. I love the cups they serve the water and the overhead lights. Overall sets the mood. When it comes to the drinks and food I highly recommend the Mango Sticky Rice Colada! It is on the sweeter side but if they offer the rum float ( take it ). As for the food! The highlight was the cauliflower and the spareribs. ( 10/10). The summer rolls were alright but the rest of the food and drinks were perfect.
We live a good tiki, and as soon as we walked in to this gem we knew it would be a hit. The kitsch, the wide variety of mugs for sale Abe the ambiance were spot on. We sat at the bar do we could enjoy interacting with the friendly bartender and fellow guests. We ordered the Flight Risk and the Zombie which were flavorful and nicely presented. The flight risk was good but did have a fairly strong curry flavor so I probably wouldn't order it again. I did wish they had a few more options for not too sweet drinks on the menu but did like that they rated the strength and sweetness. For dinner we shared the satay which came with a tasty and unique sunflower seed sauce, the cauliflower and the rangoons. The rangoons were tasty but could have been warmer- they deliver the meals on carts so it could be that they were sitting on it for a while for dessert we had a Mai Tai! Overall, we loved the experience and can't wait to come back.
A little pricey, but in my opinion, very much worth it! My friend and I went here for dinner the other day. We sat at the bar and ordered drinks. I got the mango sticky rice cocktail, which was served in an ADORABLE mug. The cocktail was strong ($15) but sweet like juice, a dangerous combination. I loved it and had to force myself to savor it with slow sips instead of guzzling it. We shared the pu pu platter for two, which was a bit expensive at 50-something dollars but came with a LOT of food. Plenty for two people and maybe even enough for four. The platter came with a variety of delicious things. There were chicken skewers and beef skewers, and both were cooked perfectly. The chicken was juicy and tender, and the beef was a great medium rare. There were also scallion cheese quesadillas (yum!), crab Rangoons, and fried fish. The only thing I didn't really like was the vegan egg roll. I could really tell it was vegan, and the veggie filling was too salty for my taste-buds. We also ordered the ma la tater tots. I was skeptical about ordering tater tots at an Asian restaurant, but they were fantastic! Crispy perfection and well-seasoned with a light spice. In addition to delicious food, the restaurant offered great vibes with whimsical decor, friendly staff, and a cute menu inspired by Where the Wild Things Are.
I can only speak to the cocktails, as I didn't order any food (though I would love to try it soon as I've heard great things). Every drink my friend and I ordered were incredible! Creative flavors and the most adorable presentation you could ask for. Their glassware is so fun and makes the experience really unique compared to other cocktail bars. The atmosphere is pretty cool as well. It has a dark & tropical vibe that's great for a fun date night or just hanging out with friends. Staff is wonderful as well!
The whole experience was amazing. We sat at the bar and had a couple of drinks each. Every tiki cocktail we ordered was fantastic and we had the pupu platter. Generally pupu platters are average but a good way to get a taste of all the apps. When we tried Wusong's pupu platter, it was amazing! Some of the best Chinese flavors I've ever had. We sat at the bar and watching the bartender Brian work was definitely an experience and entertainment all by itself. We can't wait to go back!
I've been trying to come here for the longest time! It always seems to be packed or have no availability. I came with some friends on a Tuesday evening at 8:30pm because that's when we could get a reservation! They have an extensive drink list with plenty of non-alcoholic adjustments. I got the dole-whip inspired nonalcoholic and my friend got the mango sticky rice colada, which was very tasty and really did taste like mango sticky rice. The food was overall great and reasonably priced! We shared everything. The coconut spareribs were a good mix of sweet and savory and were also very tender. The tom yum wings were slightly off in their flavor to me, but still good. The scallion pancake quesadilla was fun, albeit a bit simple. We also got the beef sambal ijo noodles which were pretty large and filling. I would love to come back! The atmosphere is fun, the food and drink menus have a ton of variety, and this is a LGBTQ+/AAPI owned business!!
The drinks and food were awesome! I'm Filipino and some of the dishes in the menu bought back memories! It's in the expensive side because of the location but for dates or just hanging out with friends this is a good place. The server was quick, nice, knowledgeable about the menu. The interior design is also good.
This place absolutely nails it. Great vibes, drinks and food specialties that literally transport you through time. It's like the best of the 1980's. Service was warm, friendly and inviting. This place was so cute! They serve tropical drinks and Chinese-inspired foods, located in Harvard Sq. Came here for drinks after dinner and was intrigued by the custom cups the drinks came in. We tried the happy caturday and spirit of aloha. I loved the happy caturday, it was tasty and enjoyable. The spirit of aloha was a bit too strong for my personal liking but the menu did warn that it was 4.5/5 strength compared to the 1/5 strength happy caturday drink. **The cups are for sale too! I will definitely be back and FOR SURE coming back to purchase one of their custom cups. read more
Stopped into this spot after we had dinner in town. saw it on other socials and decided to pop in. The kitchen was already closed by the time we got in so no snacks or foods to review yet. We did go for their drinks with the cool artist cups. I attached mine below. I got the spirit of aloha and the lady had the happy catterday. The cups are super cute, my drink was strong indeed: got a buzz off one haha. Ambiance was chill, looked good for a date night. Our server was super nice even went to go check if there was more of a certain cup in stock. You can opt to buy the mugs you see on the menu if you would like. I believe they are all limited to an extent. Will come back and try their food next. read more

The food was good! The brussel sprouts dish stood out for me. The coconut spare ribs and crab Rangoon were just okay for me; good but nothing special. They knocked it out of the park! Service was accommodating, and the ambiance was outstanding! Just look at the pictures below! read more

Didn't get any food so I dont know how valid this review is but for what its worth it all looked great. We sat at the bar and got the mango sticky rice colada and a Christmas colada. Both were unique and so tasty in their own ways. Ambience is very cool but would say a lot more quiet then of what you would expect of a tiki bar. Service was great but had to pay 10$ for parking after validation which I didn't love, probably my fault for picking the hotel lot so do your research before you go!! read more

Fun restaurant with great staff. As tiki as it gets and since it's around the holidays there was plenty of festive tiki decor. The food is good and they knew it was one of our birthdays so they brought out a fun candle thing and a slice of chocolate cream cake. Would come back! read more

This place is tapas style and I came with one other person-- we ordered 3 dishes and had a little bit left over. We ordered wok tossed haricot vert (basically green beans), a shrimp plate whose name I cannot remember, and the crispy queso Oaxaca and vegan plant based chicken Wusong bao buns. Wanted to try the mapo tofu, but unfortunately they were out. The shrimp plate was by far the best thing that I had here. Flavorful and crispy, with the perfect spice. And the serving of shrimp was generous-- much larger than I expected. Green beans were also delicious-- would definitely order again. I would skip the Wusong bao buns-- the vegetarian options felt watered down and lacking flavor or spice. The vegan plant based chicken bun had a weird aftertaste that stuck to your tongue, and the crispy queso Oaxaca was basically a bao bun with a thick slice of plain cheese. I've had many flavorful vegan/vegetarian dishes with imitation meat before, but these buns definitely missed the mark. The designs were cute, though (pictured). Ordered the Wusong mai tai which has a 3.5/5 on the 'kick' scale, and it was very very strong. It was fine, but tasted like strongly like hard liquor. I'm wondering what a 5/5 kick would be given how strong the mai tai was. The server was great, but I felt that the "navigator's code" on the menu was a bit tacky. Overall enjoyed the concept, experience, and decor, but some of it felt like it was trying too hard to be unique. read more
I am OBSESSED with Wusong road. This hidden gem is one of the cutest restaurants I have ever been to with dare I say the best original cocktails in Boston and yummy Asian fusion bites. The restaurant is super festive decorating with the seasons and having a rotating seasonal cocktail menu that never disappoints. My favorite cocktail has to be the mango sticky rice that is so juicy, creamy, and packs a punch. The pupu platter is also extremely delicious and fun to share with a group of friends. The waiting service is average but each time I have been seated at the bar the bartenders are super fun and excited about the drinks. I cannot recommend this place more!! read more
Went here with four people for a bday dinner. The pu pu platter for 2 was amazing, a bit heavy on the fried food so we got noodles and bao buns to offset that. For four people these three dishes were plenty. Was my mom's bday and they gave us a dessert on the house! Also server forgot about one of our drinks and felt bad so he ended up giving that for free as well. Super good experience and the ambiance is almost like an elevated rainforest cafe. I came here for a company holiday party, so it's a slightly different perspective, but I had an amazing time. The drinks are so unique during the holiday season. They also serve them in fun mugs. My favorite was this ginger cocktail that also included a gingerbread cookie in it. The snowman and Santa cocktails were also fun. It's well decorated for the holidays, but I believe it's also similarly decorated during the non-holiday season. I will definitely check it out again. read more
This has been on my list to try. Came on a rainy Sunday, had reservations, but because of the weather, it was not packed so we didn't feel rushed. Our server was very attentive and friendly. There are a few metered street parking but if you're not lucky to get a spot, there are 2 parking garages right by the restaurant. From the moment you walk in, you would feel like you've entered into a rainforest of some sort. Very cool and intriguing decor. You check in at the front right after you walk in. Then you go upstairs to check in, that's where dining and bar is. A lot of decor even on the stairs as you walk up. The drinks are delicious. For food we got the chicken and pork baos. Both were good but the chicken stood out more. The pork was very standard. The Mala tots (we asked if there were different spice levels but our server misunderstood in the end and thought we didn't want the sauce, so we had plain tots. Which were still nice and crunchy). The Jalapeño peppers were ok, nothing special. The coconut bread pudding was warm and delicious and not too sweet. Not a huge menu but definitely still have things we would want to go back to try. read more
Wusong deserves 10 stars but that's not possible so they are getting all 5 of the stars I can give! The decorations, the food, the drinks and the staff are all amazing! After touring a college who's students probably spend way less time in bars than I did in school we needed a drink. It was raining so we we were looking for somewhere to spend some time at while we waited for the rain to blow over. The tiki vibes could be felt throughout the entire restaurant including the bathrooms and hallways. They had some of the most fun drinks I have ever had, in fact they were on par theme wise with Disney but with more alcohol and cost less money. We walked in and waited about 5 minutes to sit at the bar. I ordered a drink called Breath of the Dragon as my first drink, it was incredible in both taste and presentation! I followed up the Breath of the Dragon with a Zombie because that rain wasn't slowing down and I needed something with a bit more bite to get me out into the rain. The Breath of the Dragon tasted better but the Zombie got the job done! We ordered two dishes to share which were also both so good! We ordered the Blue Crab Rangoons and what I think was the Crispy Basil chicken both were very very tasty and I would order again. It is important to note they have a time limit for being in the restaurant so I would recommend having an idea of a planning coming in so you can make the most of your time. read more
A really fun, unique spot in Harvard Square! Unassuming on the outside, it's almost like a Rainforest Cafe for adults on the inside. Highly recommend making a reservation, as it gets crowded very quickly. I appreciate that they specify how strong each drink is on the menu! We tried lots of different dishes, and enjoy the good variety they have with something for vegetarians and vegans too. What we liked: broccolini, popcorn chicken, pork dumplings, stir fried Szechuan beef, scallion beef pancake What was ok: taishan pakoras, shishitos, ma la tots, kale carrot dumplings, mapo tofu What missed: dan dan noodles and the short rib lo mein. Service is pretty good, but they definitely try to shuffle you out during high traffic time to get the next table seated. read more

Tikki bars are always a blast, but this one was next level! Such a fun spot Harvard square! We had friends in from out of town and stopped in to grab a drink after going to the Museum of Natural History. We had so much fun we decided to stay for dinner too! The ambiance is moody and fun, the bar and lounge area is tucked back behind velvet curtains which makes it feel like you are going into an exclusive club. The menu is styled as a comic book and they played Spirited Away on one of the screens by the bar- they could have won us over based on this alone. As for dining, the drinks were great, and we menu is full of unique, sharable dishes. Must-get items were definitely the scallion pancake quesadilla and the loaded spring rolls. Nothing notable to complain about, but I would probably skip the coconut spareribs and Mongolian beef noodles next time. Overall a really great place to go with friends or a large group! read more

Went here on a night out after starting at Felipe's. Got a mai tai and a mango sticky rice cocktail. They came in such cute mugs. AMAZING!! They're so dedicated the tiki theme, and their menu is super fun and video game themed. We also got some crab rangoon's and spring rolls. The crab rangoon's were so good and fresh. Literally perfect. I've been to wusong road twice, after being enchanted the first time I went. GET A RESERVATION. We tried going in on a Tuesday at 5:30 and they didn't have seats until 11:30. Drinks are so fun and worth the money. They don't skimp on the liquor and I love the fun cups that they come in! Visiting just for the drinks alone is worth it. The food is an extra level of amazing. ABSOLUTELY order the bao. I thought the broccolini was yum but a little expensive, and the chicken was incredible. Dumplings pan fried were also yum and an interesting flavor (I want to say it had maple but honestly I was pretty far into my drink by then). Service was kind and fast. I think this would be a really fun date spot or special event location! read more

Went before the lunar new year and they put on a fun performance for us. Sat at the bar and had a great time chatting with the friendly bartenders. Quick service, unique and delicious drinks, and flavorful food. Got the Wusong Pu Pu Platter and it did not disappoint ! read more
We did not plan about coming to Wusong Road when we planned/came to Cambridge. Now this was because we had not heard for them but damn this was our favorite place in Cambridge for sure and is or at least close to our favorite place the whole trip. Is for sure taking best bar. We came in a little before 2pm (they close for lunch at 3pm and open up for dinner at 5pm) and were able to get a spot at the bar. We started speaking with our bartender and he was so helpful and had an amazing personally. He was a huge selling point for Wusong Road as well. We of course started with drinks and honestly this place also most likely had the best prices for drinks that we visited too. They even let you know how strong each drink is on the menu. You know if you're into that. I started with the Zombie and damn this drink does not lie it is strong as hell but still very tasty. For sure a drink for those to like to taste their rum. A must. Speak Not Evil: This was high proof rye and you can for sure. Normally can't fine a good rye/bourbon drink with a tropical twist. Painkiller: This drink was not on the strong side for sure but damn it was good. So creamy and wasn't blended to you could really enjoy it. For sure could crush 10 of these at the beach. We also had to get some snacks since they drinks were so strong and we still had other places to go. We got the Maryland Blue Crab Rangoon because of course who doesn't like Crab Rangoons and the Popcorn Chicken. The Popcorn Chicken was the best I have had in so long. Flavorful bites of crispy chicken and the dipping sauces were amazing. You gotta dip in the Kung Pao then the Homemade Ranch. It's so good. We had an amazing time at Wusong Road and would for sure come back. If your looking for a fun bar with amazing food and drinks this is the place in Cambridge to go too! read more

I celebrated my birthday here and it was my first time here. Everything was exceptional. The decor from the outside and top to bottom on the inside made me feel like I was no longer in Harvard Square but somewhere tropical. The reservations were easy to book online and manage on open table. The drinks and were served in fun fun glasses or had the best presentation. Even juice got a nice pineapple wedge. They've got a great menu with fun cocktails. All the good items are shareable and had fun presentations. All the food options were delicious and all the flavors were good. They surprised me with a slice of cake and something to bring home. There's also plenty of areas for photo ops especially for that selfie queen. All of the staff were friendly. I had a great time and would definitely come back. It is Harvard Sq and packing can get tricky. They have a lot near by and can validate at a couple of hotels otherwise it's street parking. Other than that it was a fun time. read more
Wusong Road is delightfully over the top in its celebration of all things Southeast Asian and Pacific Islander. It has everything - thatched rooflines, jungle-themed wallpaper, heliconia in large oriental planters, fun and colorful serveware, and even a Barong that walks around and playfully mingles with diners. Menu's changed from the last time I visited, but we enjoyed the pork-free pu pu platter (there's a fire in the middle of it!), Christmas- themed chicken katsu bao, and crab/shrimp XO fried rice, and the crème brûlée was the perfect finish. The cocktails - mostly rum and tequila-based - were not overpoweringly strong and served in fun mugs. Great service- super chill and relaxed vibe. read more
Best (somewhat hidden) gem off Harvard square. I like how they don't have a freezer in the restaurant so everything is fresh. Seems like the owner really cares about the dumpling process and quality. We went here recently for a girls' night out and it was perfect! We walked in and the place was completely decked out for the holidays with a tropical twist, of course. The two floor bar and restaurant feels like you're walking into another world. All the tropical rum drinks were served in collectible glasses that you can purchase if you're willing to pay $30 a glass. The food is mostly small plates and appetizers. We ordered the vegetarian pu pu platter for 4, even though we had 6 with us, and it was plenty of food for everyone. The scallion quesadilla was incredible, the drinks were good, and the atmosphere was really fun. I would recommend this for a large group or a special occasion. I will definitely be going back. If you do go, don't skip the bathroom. The wallpaper in there is something to see. read more

Been here a couple of times. Great quality tiki drinks, good food and the service was excellent both times. The tiki vibe is awesome and they have several nice displays of rare and unusual tiki mugs. The bartenders both times were very friendly, attentive and professional. If you're looking for tiki in Boston, this is your best option. I visited Shore Leave and Tiki Rock and neither came close in tiki vibe or tiki cocktails. Don't miss Wusong Road and sit at the bar if they have room for you! read more
I came here back in April for my birthday, and then again last week and absolutely plan on coming back every time I'm in Cambridge in the future. First things first: the drinks. Truly soooo good, you really can't go wrong. You can also purchase some of the cute cups which is super fun. The scorpion bowl is delicious and a GREAT price for sharing. The wusong road mai tai, painkiller, spice trade and boston tiki tea party are also out of this word. Service and ambience are both stellar. Kind and attentive and fast servers, bartenders, and desk staff. The space is so thoughtfully designed and decorated. It's themey but in a fun way and it's definitely cool rather than creepy (I think tiki bars generally are one or the other). Gonna need to know where they get the wallpaper in the upstairs bathroom ASAP. Food! Also stellar! I've tried a whole bunch of things and they were all delicious but based on both visits I have to especially recommend any of their noodle dishes. I love This place from the "Temple run theme" to small portion dim sum dishes! We went here for a dinner on Friday night. We do need to make a reservation ahead of time, since the restaurant is fairly crowded, and we want to have a good spot. Entering the restaurant is like entering the "Temple run" game I used to play as kid. So tropical and vibrant color theme. They do have a bar section and a killer playlist. We ordered a bunch of small dishes to share together and all the dishes came out with a nice presentation and yummy taste! The cocktail drinks here are so colorful, not too strong tho, quite sugary. read more

This was hands down one my favorite restaurants visiting Boston! Located in Harvard square, I most definitely booked this restaurant right after my flight and I'm glad I did! It's got that 1950s tiki vibe but with a modern take. My drink was strong and so good! I literally just went all out and ordered everything I wanted. My friend is also a vegan which is why I was also attracted to this restaurant. The service was amazing. The food was exquisite, my favorite was probably the pig and chicken baos, but honestly couldn't tell you one thing I didn't like about Wusong road. If I visit Boston again, I'd book it in a heart beat! read more

Wusong was great! I went here for dinner because i heard it was vegan friendly and had Halloween spirit! I loved the spooky decor and the drink that came in the pumpkin cup. The food was great as well, only docking a star because i had a rough experience with the service. Essentially my waitress handed off our table to another waiter without letting is know. So i was waiting for a while to flag down a person that had completely clocked out and let the building. The wait staff was very nice though, just a bit of a frustrating experience read more

I wanted to come here a few years ago but have not gotten the chance. We were coming here for the second round of drinks after dining at Saigon Babylon. We got put on the waiting list. They said it was an hour's wait, but it ended up being less than 20 minutes when we got the text. It's a good thing we did not go far. It was busy on a Saturday night. The drinks are incredible, and I don't even remember the names. We ordered Wusong bao, coconut spareribs, and crying tiger ribeye. All of them are delicious, but the seasoning was a little too strong. For the spare ribs and ribeye, meat is tender, especially the ribeye. Wusong bao is cute and has a Halloween theme. We ordered the Thai tea creme brulee and coconut bread for dessert, which was a little disappointing. Thai tea creme brulee only has a black tea flavor, which lacks Thai tea. Coconut bread soaked the sauce; it was too sweet and tasted like French toast with a solid coconut taste. I will return for drinks and light snacks when I am around the area. read more

Wonderful little spot in Harvard Sq. My wife and I had a nice night out and ended up here for some drinks and appetizers. Drinks were great, I got a Mai Tai & Zombie, both delicious. My wife got a Mango Sticky Rice Colada, which was very good as well. We also got the Sweet Chili Brussels, which were absolutely fantastic, Maple Pork Dumplings, delightful, and also the Crab Rangoon, great too. If you are in the area and wanna check out somewhere new, please do yourself a favor and head to Wusong Road!!! read more
