This place used to be pretty good. However, it has gone down hill. The service is horrible. I don't just mean it takes a while(It is deep dish pizza) but that the staff is rude and the three times I have been there in the last 3 months they have screwed up my bill. Instead of just apologizing for the mistake and fixing it, they argue with you for ten minutes then bring over the manager to argue with you some more before finally fixing the problem. Also, I am from the Chicago area. Just because you put up a couple Bears flags and serve Old Style does not make it a Chicago bar. The pizza is okay but it is not up to real Chicago Standards. This place is great. My husband and I just moved to Denver from Chicago and were so ecstatic to find a real Chicago bar in our neighborhood. We tried the deep dish pizza last night and it was pretty darn good. The staff is very attentive and super friendly. Never had a Chicago style pizza at a pizza joint before, and was quite surprised about it; pies takes about 45 minutes, wings take about the same amount of time since they are smoked... This place is probably one of my favorite bars/pub/pizza joint, very laid-back and super friendly servers, they might be not fast but they are always on a great mood, most of their décor is wooden, pool table in the back of the bar, crowd ranges between high 20's to early 50's, nice flat screens to watch a football game, and great happy hours! Food: *Smoked & Roasted Chicken Wings: ordered half buffalo and half Jamaican jerk, it was really good! Great smoky flavors, juicy wings. *Sausage Chicago style deep dish pizza: crust was crispy but not dry, a nice moisture feel to it, very cheesy, tons of sausage, and very saucy. One large pie is sliced in 8, and it easily feed 4 people. I used to go to Wymans when it was just a tiny little bar next to Licks. We would go pretty much every night and i mean every night. I'm not sure if they have a happy hour but they have decent prices and they have a different twist on bar food. Mostly pizzas and some panini's. They have the best bartenders in town too. Peas Out. Have always had horrible service at Wymans. I have never had the motivation to actually write a Yelp review till today. Waited an hour to get my pizza rolls, gave them a second chance because the pizza rolls were actually good and ordered a second order of pizza rolls and waited another 45 mins. They told me they messed up the order again.....Thanks a lot dickheads! Though a couple of my friends swear by this place because they live a block from it. Ohhh Wyman's (or "Old Chicago" as my boyfriend calls it). We likey. Yes, this is a Chicago bar. Or just Cubs maybe. Either way, we're Tiger's fans but we still like it here. The Chicago theme is definitely subtle. They even turned the Tiger's games on for us here during the baseball season. Pizza is pretty yummy. Not what I'd choose if all options were laid in front of me, but good enough if you want to enjoy some beer specials and the cozy Wyman's atmosphere. I have never had a Chicago pizza in Chicago itself, so I can't comment on the "authenticity" of the pizzas at Wymans, but I do know that the Big Pizzle is fantastic. The meatballs totally make the pizza. And the price is right: a large pizza is about $22, and a slice is a meal. There are 8 slices. Do the math. Most of the time I call ahead and pick up my pizza, but when I do enter Wyman's for an extended period, it's generally a good experience. Sometimes you have to be persistent to find waitstaff at busy hours...but hey, they're busy. I get it. They're busy for a reason. Most of the time, it's fine. Atmosphere and patrons are great. Met up with friends here on a Wednesday night. It wasn't dead, but it wasn't crowded either. There was a nice rumbling little crowd in to watch a hockey game on TV. Otherwise, it wasn't packed and crazy. It's the kind of place you want to get comfortable in. Yet service wasn't the greatest. My group was there before me and the server seemed to be on the ball with drinks. When the pizzas were ordered on the other hand, she seemed to all but disappear. The whole process of getting the check took a good amount of time, waiting for her to appear. She was nowhere to be found and since we were all waiting to get our checks signed and leave for the night, I decided to try to bring them up to her when I saw her at the bar. She told me to wait, and proceeded to go take care of a couple of tables and chat it up with them. Meanwhile, I just stood at the bar waiting. I thought that was kind of inconsiderate since I was standing right there and we had been waiting for her long enough. I don't know about you, but I don't like knowing that someone else is literally waiting around for me. I'd like to hope that this experience is not normal, and I'd like to be able to recommend this place if I can. I would be ok with returning if it's in the cards to give it a second chance. The pizza wasn't the best I've ever had, but it was decent and not terrible. I've had better deep dish. I just didn't love the crust, reminded me more of toast. I keep trying to like Wyman's, because it's close to home and it's the most happening of the pubs that are close to home. However, this latest experience has put me off once again. I got a to-go calzone and several drinks while it cooked. I ended up spending $40. Only to get home and have my order entirely wrong, and having to throw away the calzone and get delivery from somewhere else. The bar staff was nice. The drinks were tasty. But overall it isn't a bad place--like Tiffany said they have great tater tots/wieners. It's rare in San Fran that you go to a bar and they serve exceptional bar food. There are a ton of bars that serve food, mind you. There are only a handful scattered that make you wanna return a second and third and even perhaps a twenty ninth time. And maybe it was just fate, but some new friends I made in Denver happen to live near Wyman's. It's an average looking bar but the food was fan-freakin-tastic. One thing that took me by surprise was a Big Game Hunter machine in what looks to be the Nintendo Wii version. Of course, the inner coconut in me had to play it. I had the Godfather pizza which was deep dish and had so many toppings, only voluptuous men like myself should order it. One guy had the calzone, which looked like a baby cow was shoved in. Others had 12" thin pizzas, which were tasty as well, and I had my fill of sampling them all. Wyman's gets 4 stars because the bathroom writing in the wall said that I should convert to Buddhism, which I thought was kinda cocky. I wrote back "Stop tagging the walls" in black sharpie. I've yet to see Denver capped in white, but when the day comes where I'm there on a snowy December evening, I can certainly see myself at Wyman's waiting out the weather. read more

Honestly, I have never tried Chicago-style pizza before tonight. I have always been a fan of the New York style thin crust myself. I have been wanting to try this place since I moved to the Denver area two months ago. Being the Packer fan that I am, I pretty much stayed out of the Chicago Bear themed bar for the remainder of the NFL season. Finally tonight I convinced my friend to go with me to give it a shot. Sat down at a table which was covered in parmesan cheese and crumbs. It wasnt crazy busy to where nobody would have time to wipe off the table. I ordered a John Daley which is one of my personal faves(It has Sweet Tea Vodka and lemonade, an adult version of the Arnie Palmer). The drink was delicious and the server was really nice. I opted for a Vegetarian style deep dish. It had pesto, mushrooms, black olives, and spinach. Being a huge fan of roasted garlic, I decided to add that also. Pizza came out looking delicious and pretty darn big for a small! But, no garlic. I was added on the tab for an extra 75 cents. It had gotten pretty busy since we had been sitting there, so I left it alone. Overall, my experience was pretty good at Wyman's. Want to go back and try something else before I give it a higher rating. Tips: Parking can be a pain on busy nights as it is just street parking. I love this place. Friendly neighborhood joint with great food - try the pepperoni rolls, you won't eat disappointed. However, if you plan to show up on one of their busy nights, especially when the Bears are playing, don't expect good service. Plan to sit for periods of time with an empty glass and don't expect to get your food in a reasonable amount of time. Advice for the owners, staff your busy nights better. I have tried to like this joint, but every time the service has been bad. I went in after midnight with a buddy Friday night. The bar was not packed and a few seats were occupied. We sat at a booth and waited seven minutes. No one came over to greet us (which has happened twice before at this very same booth). We decided to get up and get service at the bar. Flash forward another 10 minutes, and a bartender finally came over to greet us. He saw us sit down, but was too busy on the other side of the bar. Once he took our drink order, the greeting and interaction was forced. The bartender came off and annoyed and intoxicated. I ordered a beer and a shot. The shot was a very small pour, and was a terrible value. I proceeded to watch the bartender take one shot with a regular, commenting that he was going to have to take a cab home that night. The bartender should not have been serving guests, no matter how much fun he wanted to have with his regulars. I will not be back, unless forced. read more

Here we are driving around downtown trying to figure out where to go for a couple of Friday night drinks. The Celtic... no, its way too easy to get wasted there. Ginn Mill...we could, but not quite what were in the mood for. Maybe the hornet... no way on a Friday. The list goes on, then Wyman's comes up... done and done, not a second thought and we are headed up Park West ave. We get there, find the bar partially empty and grab a seat. My bf is STARVING, the starving that makes you no fun to be around because you are just grumpy and can't be pleased. So i simply lean my head in the kitchen and ask if they're still serving. Without hesitation they say, "Yea, til midnight." Then I read the clock behind the bar. It's 11:52. God, we're THOSE people. yet, they appear not to judge or curse, they just make our food and they make it good. We order quickly, no deep dish tonight, that would just be sadistic. We go for jerk-marinated wings and cheesy pizza. We are happy when they arrive. They are delish and filling and exactly what we were looking for without knowing it. We end up having to get a box, because the cheese bread was sooo cheesy and filling. Which is right up my ally because my attitude is the cheesier the better (when it comes to food anyway.) Before, during and after eating I sip on a Titan IPA. Its my staple at this bar but I do love their other selections. Where else in this town do you get Old Style on tap. Now that's Chicago. Better yet, its a Cubbies bar. I've spent a LOT of time in Chicago, in fact its where my roots are and my only complaint about the pizza is that the sauce isn't on top. So..against my better judgement, a friend dragged me to Wymans..stating it was different now. I was weary..but, like with most things in life..2nd chances should be awarded as I would hope when I require them, someone is equally as generous. So I went. This place was a crazy awesome! I was there during the Bears v. Seahawks divisional playoff. It was insane. Standing room only, this Chicago bar was well over its 64 person capacity. The best part was the excellent deep dish goodness and Old Style brew. Also! after having about 20 beers and a pie the four of us got a bill that was about $44. Awesome price I might say. Great place to chill with friends. The nachos were heavy... and by heavy I mean loaded with cheese and other really disgusting stuff that only tastes so good on warm chips. They don't have Stella on tap, but at least they have Stella. I was happy. The waitstaff/ bar team was amazing - all smiles and overly helpful. I honestly couldn' believe I'd never been here before. Ever since my trip to Chi-Town a couple years back, I've been searching for a decent deep dish pizza all over CO. Unfortunately, there aren't many places. Thanks to Yelp, a friend and I decided to give "Wyman's No. 5" a try. Their deep dish is maybe the best of all the places I've tried in CO. It's a different texture then what I expected. The crust almost reminds me of a pie crust or a biscuit. It was deep, but not that deep, too heavy to lift, need to eat with a fork, deep dish from Chicago. Haha, but overall, it was pretty tasty. As of now, my favorite thing on their menu is their "Cheesy Tots." OMGGG...ammazzzingg! Total throw back to those special days back in elementary when I was able to get a hot lunch and all I ever wanted were tater-tots. They have a pretty decent happy hour, lots of TV screens, and a pretty laxed, fun environment. They're open until 2 AM almost day of the week with their reverse happy hour beginning at 10PM, I think. So if you've had a hard day, and want something fun and comforting, I suggest Wynman's for a draft beer and cheesy tots! read more

I had seen this place a few times and always wanted to check it out, and was looking for a new bar to watch NFL games since recently moving to Denver. I tried this place yesterday, and it is my new home on Sundays. First off, the food is MONEY. They have no fryers in the kitchen apparently and you can tell...the food is fresh and doesn't have that greasy bar texture. I had an Italian Roast Beef sandwich that was absolutely awesome...you can tell they take time to make this beef or get it from someone who does. My girl had another Italian cold cut sandwich with fresh mozzarella on it...also awesome. There is a lot of stuff on this menu that looks good. And baked tater tots...nice touch. The service was maybe a little spotty, but in fairness it was the first NFL weekend of the season and the place was busy. All of the bartenders were friendly as hell when we had their attention. The beer selection is good, not great, but they do have some unique stuff on tap, including Old Style. They could probably use an extra TV or two, but they made sure everyone was happy with game selection. All in all, a very accomodating and comfortable bar that is perfect for Sunday NFL games...and a very enticing menu with unique and outstanding bar food. We will definitely be hitting this place often. NOTE: After several further visits to this place, I dropped it down from 5 to 4 stars and am now dropping it to 3. The food has not been nearly as good as my first visit, and the service has been ABYSMAL. This place lets it bartenders serve the tables as well, and this is a bad move when it is crowded. Observe that this is a review about food; not booze or atmosphere though the latter is wanting. Bar food is a bit of an oxymoron in that food generally suggests nutritional value. For years, I've struggled and hoped to find a bar that served food that didn't taste like it was over-salted, processed, and destined as fat storage on my body. Surely, someplace somewhere could offer a decent salad, or a dry-grilled chicken w/ greens, or a burger with a bun that isn't white? But for all these years I've been routinely disappointed. And, finally, Wymans broke my spirit. The culinary disgrace happened when I ordered the least offensive menu item: Chicago Hot Dog. The description boasted an image of an exotic European meat wedged with all the fixings between two hot buns. Sounded scrumptious even as a cheat meal. But the cheat was on me: what was presented looked like two boiled Oscar Meyer franks slathered in mustard, relish, and a pickle straight from a tin can. "A travesty against Chicago has happened this night," I thought. And as hunger forced me to begrudgingly consume the paltry display, my heart sank knowing the battle for barfood was over. Ironically this just made me want to drink, which I assume, Wymans is good for. So, dear patrons, drink hearty and never take glance at the "food" menu; there is only sorrow and remorse. read more

So I FINALLY came in to watch the embarrassing Bears game last night. It felt great to be with other Chicago folks watching the game! I have been here for 2 years now, and I am a short 15 min walk from this place..and yes, I never came in til last night. That will soon change, though. Even though this bar is a Cubs bar and I am a Sox fan, I can put those differences aside when we all reunite as BEARS fans. I just had to try the chicago-style deep dish. Sadly they don't have stuffed, so I went with the next best thing to see how it measured up to the real thing. Now, I grew up in the Chicago Metro area and also lived in the city for many years, so I am a HUGE snob when it comes to all things pizza. Now, the pizza was good, not really close to Chicago style..the cheese was literally falling off in gobs and it could barely stay together. However, the pizza itself was quite tasty, and I have realized I have to take what I can get in Denver so I definitely think this place is tops as far as deep dish goes here. One star off because the service is severely lacking, and they royally screwed up my tab, but they were good sports about fixing it right away. I did meet some cool people from Chicago last night though! I will definitely be back to watch Bears games and some crosstown classics next summer! read more

This is my new neighborhood hang and I'm pretty excited about it. After moving from CapHill, where I hung out at Park Tavern, I was in search of a similar experience. Wyman's is more sophisticated, more pubby, and a bit more sports oriented. That being said, their happy hour deals are NOTHING like that of the PT. I like their booths and I've only had one meal there (a thin crust pizza, not amazing but also not their specialty) They've got a good beer selection and they are within stumbling distance of my new diggs. Came here for some beers with some friends on a Friday night. I'm 24 and have a vertical ID due to California's strange ID expiration structure. It is not expired and is valid identification. For some reason Wyman's is one of the few establishments that refuses to take them, with no real explanation other than it being "corporate policy". If they could give me a good reason I wouldn't have a problem with it but I have yet to receive one. The bartender was rude when telling me this and it ruined a night with my friends. I won't be recommending Wymen's because of the policy and the bartender's poor attitude. read more

Clearly, I am a glutton for punishment. A Chicago native, I have no business checking out restaurants in Denver that offer Chicago-style anything. Seriously. Disappointment is inevitable. My friend was craving pizza, so we went to Wyman's for dinner. I was blown away that they have Old Style on tap - not that that's GOOD beer, but it's Chicago beer, and it was hilarious to see. We ordered a deep dish...and what follows can be chalked up to my other area of self-inflicted pain: I am an English teacher, so I take words quite literally, like "deep". I just didn't feel it. I think "overloaded" would be a better word, considering I peeled off four pieces of pepperoni on top of one another. That doesn't make a pizza deep dish, though. It may have helped if there were more sauce on the pizza - as it was, there was hardly any. The service was friendly when we had it, but wicked slow at best. Granted, I have lunch for tomorrow...well, once I add some pasta sauce to it. We will go back to try the thin crust and hope for something better...in the meantime, I will just have to wait until I go home this summer to have the pizza I know and love. read more

As a kid who grew up eating authentic Chicago style pizza I just need to say this place, while one of the closest things to it in Colorado that I've come across, has a long way to go. The pizza is really nothing to brag about. The crust is dry and very grainy while there are no stewed tomatoes (again, isn't this Chicago styled pizza) to be seen. One thing I have to say is that some people on yelp seem to complain about the 45 minute wait for pizzas. This is pretty typical of deep dish pizzas and I don't think it should be held against the restaurant. (Unos in Chicago takes a good hour to get your pizza to the table. These things are usually delicious beasts so it's to be expected) I like the feel of the restaurant, it's nicely spread out and comfortable. Plus points for a billiards table. Although I think the staff is genuinely friendly, I typically leave the place thinking they were understaffed (If I ever need something, even if I'm on the restaurant side of the place, I end up waiting and then getting up to find a staff person. I went here tonight for trivia and was very disappointed. The entire place was packed because of a baseball game, which spilled over into the trivia section. It was extremely loud and crowded. None of that is their fault and I don't take any stars off for that. I couldn't hear a single trivia question. I was sitting right next to the guy doing the trivia and a sound speaker was right above my head. I have no hearing problems and no one else in my group could hear the trivia guy either. Maybe it was their sound system. The guy reading the trivia questions was not enthusiastic at all and mumbled a lot. I was told he isn't their usual trivia host, but he was terrible regardless. The questions were not displayed anywhere for you to read them. They ask a bonus question at the end of each group of questions and you have to run up to the guy doing the trivia and push and shove and yell over the other people and only one person, the strongest pusher and loudest yeller, can get the point. Once I even went up to the trivia guy and asked him very nicely if he would repeat a question and he refused. He said i could ask at the end of the round. When you wanted him to repeat a question at the end of the round you had to yell that out from your table too. Lucky me, I had a sore throat, so yelling wasn't in the cards. In parts of the trivia the guy went through the questions so fast that if you wanted to talk amongst your group members to discuss an answer, there wasn't time and you would miss the next question. I didn't get any food, but the main thing on the menu was pizza. I have heard good things about their pizza, but even sitting there amongst the smells of other pizzas, I didn't want one. Also, the waitstaff was very bad. Maybe it was because they were so crowded, but my table was not served for a while. When we wanted to pay we all had to get up and go to the bar because no one was coming with our tab. Even when I went to the bar, it took a while before they acknowledged me. Pizza deserves 4 stars, Service is 2 stars 1 large Chicago Deep Dish, 2 Fat Tires, 1 House White = $36 Here for the 1st time yesterday for a Pizza and some beer. Went with a Chicago Deep Dish the RON BURGANDY. Damn these toppings were delicious. Chicken, Spinach, Artichoke Hart, Tomato, Pepperoncini. The chicken was very tasty, but it was the Pepperoncini that set that thing off. Very flavorful, really really good. However, grubber beware, this a 100% knife and fork pizza. Very juicy and cheesy. It was soggy by the second slice. I would have liked less cheese and more sauce but thats just my preference. My friends were diggin on all the melted mozz. Service, hmm went to the bar for our drinks, went to the bar for our check, saw our pizza chillin in the window. I'd meet people there if I was invited, not sure I would suggest it myself. read more

This 5-star rating is all about the Chicago-style deep dish pizza, which is some of the best I've had in Denver. At $20 for a large, I often order carry-out and eat it for several meals. The place is rather noisy and hard to hold a conversation and I would caution to stay away from the Bruschetta appetizer -- we couldn't even finish it. This is probably because it reminds of a bar back home I used to frequent and because I went here a lot when I first moved to Denver.
