I guess the Hilton Springfield location changed to Wyndham. Stayed at Hilton twice before. Pretty nice. It's pretty much the same as before. New coat of paint but still needs some remodeling. The accessible 2 bedroom is spacious. Has 1.5 bathrooms and couches. Although there are two accessible parking spaces on each floor of the garage, spaces were limited. I did not get sleep at all. Kept hearing loud clanging all night long can't tell between the elevator on the other side of the wall or if it something swinging outside but it's literally was swinging and banging bad. The two nights we stayed, full price mind you, there was no complimentary breakfast or any restaurants open in building, no room service for fresh towels or coffee for the room. My husband went down to front desk to ask for coffee for our room and whatever we needed and the man at the front desk was extremely bothered by him asking for coffee that we never got refreshed in the room. No fresh cups to drink out of, no "do not disturbed" sign for the door, floors were disgusting food and crud under the beds. One bed was lopsided. Walls were dirty and under the lamp I moved was some black thick stuff. I cleaned hotel rooms and I know what is there and what isn't suppose to be. The rooms are very old and need updating, dusty dresser and desk with stains. Light switches had dirt smeared and crud on walls. Then last but not least the garbage cans outside the rooms were over flowing. What happened to customer service here? Thought as advertised you can ask for anything you need at the front desk. This one was the "nicest looking" one (from what we could see on the website) in Springfield, il. Going to Springfield for an award ceremony during Earth Day weekend and decided to make a weekend out of it. When we book for hotels the first n most important thing we look at is "swimming pool" b/c r kids love to swim in hotel pools...go figure ‍. So this one was close to where r function was being held, it was "downtown", price was good AND it had a nice pool. So I told the kids we couldn't swim they day we arrive but that they would be able to swim the next morning. I called the front desk to get the location of the pool and she tells me the pool is closed all wknd for maintenance. Excuse me?!?!? Closed?!?!? Why weren't we told at check in?!?!? If we knew at checkin I wouldn't have promised my kids they could swim the next morning. The kids were so upset n majorly disappointed. Anticipated their time in the pool all day n then to find out they couldn't swim. It was like Xmas eve waiting for Xmas morn n when u wake up there were no presents under the tree. Not exaggerating. They live hotel pools!! And nothing was done to accommodate/compensate us. The attitude was like "Sorry. What do u want ME to do about it?" Besides the disappointment from the pool ordeal the building is old. It creaked ALL night. Not sure if it was the building swaying or just the radiators. But it was really annoying n loud at night when that's the only sound u hear. Minus the pool incident it would be a solid 3 but the way it was handled from start to finish they loose a start. Nice location. It's downhill from there. ***Before I get to my own review, I was waiting for an Uber for about 15 minutes in the lobby one morning, right around check-out time. While sitting there, near the front desk and next to the one single microwave in the building, I heard, among other complaints: The desk clerk, a young man, flat out lied to guest about security. There was none, but we all paid $11 a day for it anyway. And then... "There's no toilet paper." "The lights in the bathroom don't work." "The toilet runs constantly." "The air conditioner was broken. The thermostat was busted and the pieces were all over the floor." Followed by, "No, we slept on the FLOOR. $25 off is not enough." "The wifi doesn't work." "The wifi doesn't work." "The wifi doesn't work." (There were three of those.) and of course... "I don't want to be an a__hole, but this place is a sh_thole." Also, the desk clerk flat-out lied to a guest about parking garage security. ***Now my own list of observations: There was one roll of toilet paper, and it was already opened. The lamp on the desk was broken and had rust on the base. Old pet stains on the carpet are all over the building, including the room I was staying in. There was a large, dark, pee stain on the carpet at the corner of the bed. All of the elevators are nasty. It looks like the glass has never been cleaned and the carpet never vacuumed. They also often smelled like weed. Only a couple of ice machines work, and this is a multi-story hotel. The desk staff knows it. They even know which floors have working icemakers. I heard them talking about it while I was waiting for the Uber. Why not inform guests which ones work upon check in instead of making us search every floor til we find one? I gave up on the ice after the fourth try, but I did have luck finding a Coke machine the last time. It was empty by the next night it was empty too, just like all the rest of them. There is one tiny microwave in the building. It's at the "registrati_n desk". (The "o" is missing.) This is 2021. Where are the mini-fridge and microwave? Freaking Red Roof Inn has mini-fridges and microwaves. TV and windowsill were seriously dusty. Again, there's no telling when that glass was cleaned. It wasn't recently, I can say that with authority. There were no luggage carts in sight when I checked in at 1am. I saw two when I was by the microwave. There was no bathmat. Just tile, and two small towels. I used my own data for my laptop and phone since the wifi didn't work. (Four!) The only visible outlet is way behind the dresser and therefore not really all that useful. The clock is broken. I paid $11 for parking with no security. I came and went for days. I saw a security guard at about noon the day before I checked out. Never saw him again. The garage entry "arm" was always in the up position. The young lady who checked me in was quite nice. I never saw her again. I only saw two young men working the desk, neither of whom ever smiled or even MADE EYE CONTACT. They never looked up. Again, sitting there in the lobby, I was just mentally eating popcorn and watching all this happening. (Over the course of about 15 minutes.) Everything in that hotel is at least 25 or 30 years old, including the carpet. And the phone. I looked at the phone beside my bed and had to go back to 1995 to remember how to use it. Note to staff: When a guest asks the desk agent to have a manager come to the room, the appropriate response is NEVER, "What for?". One thing I did love: There was a dry cleaning list near the tv. Are you kidding me?? With one roll of toilet paper, and I was clearly a lucky one on that count, and they're telling me they have a dry cleaning service?? Trust me. There is no dry cleaning service. Or room service. Or any other kind of service. And the cherry on top... THERE WAS A PUBIC HAIR ON THE TOILET! I WIN!! W00T! What do I get? A nice highrise hotel, Nice rooms, nice view if you are on any of the upper floors. There is a parking garage connected to the hotel. When staying at the hotel, the 30th floor has a nice lounge ( the pinical club)and a ver y good steakhouse ( nick and nicko's )as well. The lobby level has a bar and grill as well as a Starbucks The hotel staff was good and efficient About the only things o didn't like was no hook on the wall in the bathroom to hang clothes and the occupancy sensor light switch in the bathroom (minor thing of not much concern) Good location for business in Springfield of visiting many of the nearby historic sites. read more

We stayed over the weekend (5/12-13) and chose the Wyndham for its location and amenities. I was looking forward to using the pool and workout room, which unfortunately were shut down. There was no indication of this shortcoming when I booked. Since this is one of the most expensive hotels in Springfield, I was highly disappointed and won't be staying here again. When we arrived at 4:45pm to check in, there was a line of 30-40 people in line and it took 30-40 min for me to reach the front desk. The check-in clerk told me that the room was not ready yet and it would take another hour or so. Then we went to dinner first. After dinner, I went back to the front desk at 7:45pm, but the room was still not ready. The clerk gave a breakfast coupons as a compensation, which I appreciated. But the following morning, I went down for breakfast and found that the breakfast room was closed for that day. Very disappointing; I did not care much about the $11-worth breakfast but felt being lied to. I understood that they had a lot of guests due to the state fair and not enough house keepers but they should have planned for this better and should have treated the guests better. read more

There's a large 3-4 foot tear of carpeting in front of the elevator- trim peeling from the room ceiling- a nail sticking out of the corner trim in the room at elbow height- and so much more. I booked on Hotels.com- so that site needs to reconsider business with this place. Checked out- was told $11 overnight parking. Wanted a receipt at check out and was told no that I'd get one on Hotels.com. Checked my credit card and was charged $25 extra for something but they won't tell me what for. Not ever again. Great location for a Lincoln tour. Good hotel with great service and a decent coffee shop. Service was excellent. Parking was easy just next door. The rooms are well used but were clean and comfortable. The AC is very noisy and is located such to freeze the person lying next to it. A decent place for the price. read more

Abandoned buildings surrounding the area, ice maker inoperable, "vending room" consists of 2 machines - one with beverages and one mostly empty. Toilets are designed for children. Rooms have open wiring in the ceiling. Neither of the phones in our "suite" worked, the tables had a sticky substance on them, there was a champagne cork in the middle of the carpet, and stains on the furniture. They did bring a fridge to our room and the staff were very pleasant and helpful. read more

I've stayed at this hotel a few times throughout the years, when it used to be classy, clean and courteous.. basically, when it was a Hilton property. To start with, the 'bar'... a group of us sat down at 9:15pm and were immediately told by the barmaid they were closing soon and it was last call... I asked what time they close, she said 10pm...! I said we have 45 minutes, she said more like 30 minutes. We start closing/cleaning at 9:45...! Mind you, we have over 150 people from my company staying here as we've done years past and they could care less...Fine, we left and took out money across the street! The rooms were not what I would consider clean... I had 2 towels that were tattered and one was actually missing a corner! They didn't clean my room one of the days there, no reason was provided. I left a glass on the dresser with a napkin in it and it was never removed... the big pisser was a safety pin was on the bathroom floor when I moved into the room on Monday and was still there Friday when I left! I found the hotel personnel uninterested and not friendly at all... My recommendation is to try and avoid this hotel at all costs! Find a Motel 6, you'll be better off! read more

If you are looking for comfort, amenities or hospitality, DO NOT stay here. We had to wait 1 hour to check in; but the front desk staff was friendly and apologetic about the long wait. Note: parking in the attached garage is $10 per day fee. The rooms were bare bones. No refrigerator, no microwave, no extra toilet paper, no exhaust fans, one piece of art and only two small sandpaper-like bath towels. The mattresses are comfortable (that was the ONLY positive experience), but the bedding is cheap and rough. When we went to swim, we found the pool was VERY cold; there were no towels and everything in the pool room was very worn and dingy. Also, the hallwall reeked of pot smoke throughout our trip. Warning! The advertised "Breakfast available" actually meant NO complimentary breakfast--it is $13 per person for a terrible meal. The service was slow and the food was cold and greasy. There was no milk for the cereal, no gravy/oatmeal/pancakes or waffles. When I complained at the front desk about the unexpected charge (we were told you could either purchase your room with or without breakfast, but there was NO option for that when I booked), the front desk manager provided the worst customer service I've ever experienced. He was rude, demeaning and dismissive. He told me, "I have stayed in 1000s of hotels and I've always had to pay for breakfast. So I don't know what kind of hotels YOU stay in." No apologies, no offers to resolve the issue; just personal insults. When I called the hotel's care line, I was greeting with equally poor attitudes; after which, that same manager called me; again, he was aggressive, insulting and chauvinistic. He offered free breakfast vouchers, which I declined. But he never offered even customer service or an apology for the false advertising. There is no way he should be allowed to keep his job. I will never stay at this hotel again. My husband left a shirt in the room after checking out. I called the hotel within 15 min of leaving the property. The front desk said they would have house keeping call me. After we finished our business meeting I called the hotel again to say that we would be returning to pick the shirt up before leaving town. (housekeeping had not called) I was told housekeeping had gone for the day and no one had brought a shirt to the front desk. The afternoon front desk person knew nothing about my previous call. I called housekeeping the next day and was told they had several white shirts, but not the one that I was describing. After getting the runaround for a week I contacted the main office. I received a letter that the matter had been referred back to the hotel. The hotel in Springfield sent a letter saying the matter had been handled with their personal and apologized for the mission shirt. It was bad enough that we lost a $50 shirt, but the poor customer service really upset me. Had I not called with in 15 min of leaving, I wouldn't be upset. It is obvious that the shirt was kept by the person that cleaned the room. The hotel offered no compensation. read more

We went there for NYE and I was not impressed. The woman managing the bar downstairs was a total hag. I waited 20 minutes for them to collect the money for my food by which time the food had gotten cold. I asked if they could remake it and she said no. I then said ok I'll just pay since they were for my son and she walked away again!! I finally flagged down the waiter and he took care of the bill. The pool was freezing and the water was filthy. I also suspected that some people that weren't staying there were using the pool. Some people I'm pretty sure I'd seen out on the street panhandling came in and started swimming. I got my children out of there immediately. I also told the front desk to charge two items to my card (which they confirmed they had) and they didn't. They charged them to my husband's card, when I specifically told them not to. I will never be returning there. The customer service is sub par in every department and almost every area of the "hotel" is either old or dirty. I will say that the shower in the pool bathrooms is nice and those are pretty clean except for the last stall that's completely missing the toilet. read more

I'm just very disappointed. My wife and I spent our 19th wedding anniversary here. We booked here because it was where we spent our wedding night. NONE of the ice machines worked. I tried every floor. All of them had out of order signs that listed all the other floors they were on. I hit every one of them and still didn't get any ice. If you don't have a refrigerator in the rooms, then you have to have ice available. The Wi-Fi was horrible and would not connect for anything. There was trash overflowing just sitting in the hall way. The problem was it had been there for a couple days now. I felt sorry for the poor guy working the front desk. It was one person up there complaining after another about something, He was a nice guy doing all he could trying to fix problems that were not his doing. I stayed at the Wyndham Springfield City Centre hotel over the weekend for a state conference held by a girls' organization I volunteer for. The rooms were in great condition, and the hotel was very accommodating to our large group of sometimes loud teenage girls. The price and quality of the catered meals provided by the Wyndam was the only aspect of my stay that left something to be desired. As costly as going out somewhere but not nearly as delicious. I will likely return here next year and look forward to doing so. If you find yourself in downtown Springfield, the Wyndham is a great place to stay. read more

I really, really wish I would have liked my stay better and could rate this hotel higher, but I think this hotel is too big for its own good. My boyfriend and spent one Saturday night here. The hotel is easy to find as it's the tallest building in the city. Parking is a garage attached to the hotel, there is an attendant at all times, and there is a small parking fee, even for guests. We ventured to Springfield to attend a friend's birthday party and upon arrival and checking in, everything went well. Our room was ready, clean, and nice - no complaints. However, when we came back to the hotel around 10pm is when things started to go downhill. Upon entering the hotel from the garage, we walked past conference rooms where we experienced loud shouting, witnessed guests shoving each other and threatening to fight. Some of the guests were shouting to call the cops, and the experience perplexed us. I wondered why this party was large enough to rent out an entire ballroom, and yet there was no security staff in the room or otherwise on the garage entrance floor. We did not stay long enough to witness the outcome, but had a melee broken out, it would have put any of the guests returning to their rooms in danger. We decided to check out the Pinnacle Club Lounge but retired to our room before midnight. We were both pretty tired from traveling from the city that day so we fell asleep quickly. However, we were both woken up at 3am from loud screaming, doors slamming, and general commotion from the room next door and neighboring rooms down the hall. This sounded like guests from the same party that booked the conference room, and they kept running back and forth between rooms on the floor. We waited about half an hour and finally called the front desk to complain. The walls are so thin we heard a staff member knock on the room next door and ask them to quiet down. The noise stopped for about half an hour and we fell asleep again, but at 4am, the shouting ensued. Once again, we had to call the front desk and again we heard the staff knock on their door. We fell asleep until around 9am when we heard the same shouting next door, driving us to pack our things and check out early. Overall, the one-night-stay was a terrible experience for the both of us. I realize the hotel can only do so much to control their guests, but I feel like management could have taken some preventative measures to ensure the safety and satisfaction of all guests. Firstly, there should be ample security on site and especially at large parties that run late into the night so fights do not break out. Secondly, everyone attending this party should have be given a block of rooms so they would not disturb other guests in the early morning hours. There were barely any guests around and I'm convinced the hotel did not sell out. I'm sure if I were to stay here again, I would have a completely different experience and perhaps an enjoyable one, but based on my first experience here, I did not leave happy or rested. read more

This a difficult one for me to share, but this comes from a place of love since my wife and I are Wyndham alumni. This property is struggling and it was evident from the moment we walked in. Lighting in the foyer was off, with only the front desk lit by the can lights in the ceiling. While checking in a sign said the pool was closed for maintenance (Front Desk latter disclosed that that it had been down for a few days). Got to the room on the 22nd floor, again the halls were dimly lit. Room was clean and the view was great! However the light switch for the bathroom did not work and there was a weird creaking sound coming from the windows, on and off. With the above items mentioned, we checked out and went across the street to the Hilton property (smaller beds was the only downside). When checking out the front desk was very grateful for giving them a try and offered to change rooms. I was very appreciative but declined. If I was traveling alone, I would have reconsidered. But traveling with family, I there were too many issues. I hope to visit this proper in the future once Covid is over. My wife has stayed at this property in the past and loved it for the views, amenities and proximity to the convention center. read more

The rooms are clean and not too outdated. Carpet in the room needs cleaning. The towels were clean and housekeeping did pretty good job keeping place clean. There is no breakfast included, there is no fridge and no microwave. We tried their breakfast one time and boy was it a disappointment. The selections were so limited and everything seemed stale or too oily. It was a very sorry and disgusting breakfast. The coffee cup on table was dirty they did replace it with another one that was less dirty but still dirty. Creamer holder was also dirty inside. They didn't have toast bread. All they had was some white rye bread. And I asked 2 times if they have toast...they just pointed me to rye bread. Wyndham this breakfast of yours is very very emberassing. Shame on you for charging folks for this gross disgusting food. We had 4 people and our bill was $52. What the hell for? Oily hashbrowns, weird tasting scrambled eggs and stale croissant ? The 2 items that were ok were bacon and fruit. If I could give zero stars I would. I feel that the breakfast experience really spoiled my view of the hotel. I feel that Wyndham corporate or their franchise review people should really look into this breakfast rip off. It seemed there were a few sanitary violations and just morally wrong for people to charge that much. Thank God for Starbucks that is located in the building, it saved our mornings. First thing to think about is...don't plan on staying here if it is windy outside! Apparently, when the wind blows in the prairie the whole building squeaks! On a side note the security is really good! However I was told from the front fest manager that they do not have the man power to ask guests who will be staying in the room when you check in. The problem with this is when a key card gets demagnetized or lost your guests can't get back in their room unless the person who booked the room is there. This is a problem when said person is not there! Seriously what does not having enough man powers mean? Simply ask when checking in who will be staying in the room that you are giving keys too! A shadow of what was probably once a pretty swanky hotel. I've stayed here 3 times total, and my last stay unfortunately is what prompted this 1-star review. I didn't take any pictures, although I considered it and probably should have. Cleanliness was nonexistant in my room. There was a translucent "splatter" everywhere--I don't want to venture a guess as to what it was. It was on the end-tables, the dresser, the bathroom sink, everywhere. I really hope it was just dried soap splatter, or toothpaste. The TV didn't work. There were fingerprints and what even looked like lip-prints on the "clean" glasses they set out by the ice bucket. They do not put refrigerators in every room--found out too late that is something you have to "request" when you book. A hotel that claims to be of any caliber really should have them. The main reason I mentioned it is because when I asked reception where the refrigerator in my room was, the staff seemed a bit indignant that I wasn't aware it was a special request. Do you know who else has refrigerators in every room? Hotels that charge less than this. Best Western. Baymont. Even Super 8's. All the decor, carpeting, etc., looks like it was last updated in the late 80's-early 90's. They were running a skeleton crew for a hotel this size, often I had to wait for someone to come to the reception desk. Anyway, in addition to the above reasons, when I lifted the toilet seat in my room and saw tried urine splatter all over it, it became apparent that housekeeping just made up the bed an didn't clean the room at all--gross. You can tell this place used to be nice, but it's glory days have clearly long since passed. It's basically an oversized, tired old $60/night motel posing as a $90+ downtown hotel. read more

We were told we could check in any time after 4 and our room would be available. Finally checked in later in the evening to find out there were no rooms left. I've stayed at this hotel numerous times under the Hilton management, and actually thought our convention had switched hotels for this year. However, the hotel is the same with new management. Our convention meets in Springfield biannually, and this was by far the best experience I've had at this location. The new management was very organized and really prepared for our group. They suggested we prepay, and if you did that your rooms would be ready- and they truly followed through on this promise. The level of security was great for the large number of teens in the hotel, and the management of the elevators was perfect this time around. The water in the conference rooms were filled, the service friendly, and the rooms very clean. Happy we continue to host our convention here. read more

This is a terrible hotel and has gone down hill. Used to be nice. When we arrived, the elevator in the parking garage was broke. We had to drag our luggage up two flights of stairs. As I was looking at the dirty heat vents, I stepped on an exposed tack strip. It went through my foot. I am calling my doctor to see if I need a tetanus shot. The front desk just said sorry and offered a new room. The bed is bouncy and uncomfortable, there is a loud rattling noise in the hallway. We froze all night. There were no blankets on the bed, just sheets. The room is outdated, not like the modern pictures on their website. Definitely a bait and switch advertisement. Honestly, there is not one good thing about this hotel as I am awake at 3am writing this review. My husband and I are appalled. I was excited that I got a room under $100. It wasn't a good thing. I learned that the rooms in this hotel are not the same. I can't understand why we would be given a room that should be condemned when there were barely any guests? Is it because we paid a lower rate? Is this acceptable treatment of guests, Windham? The front desk said it is our fault because we didn't take the nicer room. Possibly the worst hotel I have ever stayed at. I travel often for work and this hotel is a travesty. The pictures online do not match the hotel whatsoever. There are not charger ports next to the bed, having to move furniture to charge a phone. They charge for parking, breakfast, and coffee as if the location is in Manhattan and not mid-southern Illinois. The toilet was broken when I checked in. The cleaning crew did not clean on any day. The walls are extremely thin and the pillows are half the size of normal ones and it is generally dirty. Woke up this morning at 4:30 am because the entire building was creaking from the wind. My room is on the 23rd floor. This shouldn't happen! Bed sheets and towels are not soft. Rooms need a refresh. If you come to Springfield, I'm sure there are plenty of better alternatives. read more

My night started out arriving off of the delayed Amtrak train. When I got to the hotel it was about 9:20 and I was ready to just go to bed. First I noticed my neighbors had very loud kids. I didn't bother to say anything at that time as I know how kids can be and figured they'd quiet down by 10... midnight and they were still loud enough to hear down the hallway, and I had called about the noise but it continued. Since I couldn't sleep I was looking around the room more and noticed questionable stains on the sheets and the window shades. I finally had enough and went to the front desk to explain the situation and they were not only sympathetic to the situation but immediately found me a new (and upgraded) room on a high floor...shown in the photos attached. Being Labor Day weekend the hotel is pretty packed, so I understand things don't always go well, and some are out of their control, but they managed to turn a sleepless night into a great stay. They even threw in a free breakfast. Knowing this is how they handle issues when they come up I will stay here again next time I'm in town. The pillows are cheap polyester filled and small, inconvenient electric outlets, no refrigerator or microwave, pool is old and did not look clean enough/ safe enough for me to go in. Staff was friendly. read more

There for a conference. They didn't provide enough chairs or containers of water during conference. (government conference) Guest rooms had comfy beds. No fridge or microwave. Mine had huge drywall patches in ceiling. I came to my room to find door standing open. Luckily no intruder and nothing was gone. I called guest services to complain. No apology. No offer to change rooms either. Did not sleep well. AC unit was so loud. It interrupted sleep when it kicked on and off. Coffee shop was only breakfast option but had long lines. After doing the through research on the Internet, we decided to book this hotel. It is centrally located, the parking fee was a bit of a pain in the neck, but then the room was cheaper so taking that in the consideration, it was average price. Everything is within the walking distance, it is the tallest building around, so if you ever get lost, you can always find the way back to the hotel. Room was nice. Coffee packets were so crunched and wrinkled, I don't know when those were ever used. The most frustrating thing was that the horns from the train near by(Amtrak?) was soooo annoying all night. The view from the 23rd floor was nice but geez that was still loud. And speaking of loud, the sound of the flushing toilet above us/ next to us was so loud I jumped out of the bed. Just checked out of the hotel. Very disappointed. Paid $130.00 for the room. The rooms are very clean. The problem is the noise that we heard all night long. It was like something in the pipes. Must have woke up 20 times. In addition the pillows are so small and not comfortable. Worse is, I would have said something at check out but the person who checked me out didn't even ask how my stay was. How do you expect to get feedback from your guests without even asking that. One hotel I will never stay in again. read more

The front desk staff is far less than professional. Spoke with Andre on 2 occasions (days before arrival, and days after departure) and he was most unhelpful. Elizabeth who assisted me once Lauren from Sales came to the rescue to help sort out the lack of service received by the front desk, was kind. Keith was extremely annoyed and irritated with me practically from the start, while checking in for our large group which was arriving later by bus. Chris did not offer any helpful comments but rather continued to comment toward me in a condescending, unhelpful and rude manner. I had spoken with John earlier in the day who assured me that my needs were not only met, but set and ready to go for our arrival and confirmed this to me by email which I showed to both Keith and Chris who were uninterested. Lauren, whom we accidentally ran into on his way out the door, walked me back to the desk and efficiently resolved my pending issue with room mixups which occurred somewhere between Hotels.com & Wyndham Hotel, but drastically affected my room needs. Invoices were a mess and still are. No one knows how to fix anything... read more
