I expressed it was my first time calling for advice and he proceeded to use a condescending tone to remind me of how uneducated with the process I was Prior to the call I did perform some of my own research through various websites but I figured why not pick up the phone and ask an experienced "professional?". Actually he was not professional at all. He went as far as telling me that it's because of people like me that liters end up at pet stores! Like really? WOW! I wondered if his comments were racially motivated which is not uncommon in that part of CT. However the treatment was just sad I wonder if he would appreciate someone talking to his wife, mother or kids the same way he spoke to me? Just a nasty human being! Owner of this facility is un faithful and gives the run around when it comes to reimbursement, came up with a contract and has yet to follow through. Read my review! My personal experience with Dave and Daniel at Black Rock Canine was awful! I been contemplating on writing a review but me as an animal lover, dog owner and a business owner people need to know the truth so it doesn't happen to your dog. My show dog came back lethargic, dehydrated and emaciated. He lost 15lbs in their care while being with them for 3 weeks. My dog was full of ticks and fleas and required surgery from the rock he ingested while being there. (Must of done that out of boredom or being absolutely starving.) It's neglectful the fact my dog wasn't feeling well and all the signs was ignored by staff. Nobody called me or texted me to discuss his current condition. When I went to pick up my dog from Black Rock Canine my dog stumbled out of the facility, couldn't recognize me as his owner, didn't wag his tail and he was drooling and hunched over, just looked down right sick. My dog was so sick I thought I was going to lose him. He was unrecognizable as my dog. They lied to my face and acted like nothing was wrong at pick up. Full of excuses " he must be tired", "or maybe he has a tick born disease", (which by the way was immediately ruled out at the vet). I thought it was absolutely bazaar that Dave wanted treat us to lunch before picking up my dog, I guess to soften us up before the pick up. They lied by saying my dog was eating, I gave them a whole big bag of his high calorie diet. A dog doesn't lose 15lbs if he's eating how can they not tell how emaciated he is? They are not being truthful as to what really happened. They also lied that their was no way he could have eaten a rock but I guess you forgot you sent me a pictures of him tied up in an area full of rocks and sticks! I mentioned my dogs weight was a concern in another picture that was sent to me but Daniel assured me that his food would be increased. My dog is not the same since being home, his personality is damaged, doesn't act like he was trained at all. Dave the Owner of the facility said he would take care of vet bill and refund the training and has yet to do so. I've been waiting now more than 9 months all I get is the run around. I guess he's hopeful that I would just forget and let it go. Be professional and take care of buisness, as much as I wanted to stay away from going to court I guess that what it has to be. I've been extremely patient and I'm out $5,264.58 for my dog being in their care. I'm absolutely disgusted that they could do this to a dog. This place is unprofessional. She gave us a ton of information, told us where she would be the next day with phone number of the other store so we could reach out to her with any additional questions. She actually just texted me with pictures of the parents of the goldendoodle we purchased (it's after 7pm). I did call the store one day when Allison was out and Pete answered the phone, he wanted to know how the dog was doing, said he has been with the store for decades and if we need anything to just call him. GREAT STAFF. We were talking to some breeders directly and the communication was horrible. Gary has some great employees. Even the woman who bathed and did our dog's claws after purchase clearly LOVED dogs. Very positive store experience. The Neutral: My dog, as others have mentioned was timid and easily startled when first home, but I think that's normal. He's only 10 weeks old, arrived from Missouri only a week before. That's a lot of changes for a little guy. So we have been making sure to keep the house a little quieter and trying to not make noise when he is eating. Basically like the instructions from Gary (Owner) say, no playing or excitement for 3 days. It's day 3 now and the dog (Reilly) is really much more active, running around the house, eating better, and seems to be adapting well to us and the house. The unexpected: Day 3, the little guy seems to have developed a cough. Could be from the stress of the move, he didn't seem to have this when we brought him home. I spoke to Allison about this and was told we would be reimbursed if we were unable to get back up to CT to see their Vet. (We are an hour away). Update: He seems a little better today, he has his check-in/check-up anyway so we just moved up the date at the vet to make sure he's on the right track. I am sure he will be fine. The less positive: When we originally called on the phone, we were told one general price from the Owner for the dogs were were interested in. At checkout the dog price increased more than 50%. We were able to negotiate, but we felt it could have been handled better. The only reason we feel we didn't overpay is because the service and aftercare have been wonderful. And when you get a 10-11 week old baby, believe me you will have questions. This is my third dog, but I quickly realized pups this young are infants, more vulnerable, do more dumb things, eating well and not getting sick is really important.

They are hand-raising each little fuzzball with care and actual love, high socialization and new experiences - absolutely everything you'd want a kitten to have in those first crucial months of life. I don't have a lot of money, and I was really scared to take such a large financial risk, but I've only had my kitten home for a week and I can't imagine anything in the entire world being more worth the investment. Thru the entire process, I felt safe and reassured working with Elena - she answered all of my (many, many) questions, sent regular pics and vids, and was a total joy during the whole process. Elena and her merry band of fairy children are not just raising kittens, they are putting love and light out into the world where it is desperately needed - of course on a personal level for each lucky human who brings one of their sweet baby angel kitties home, but the love we exchange with these fur-babies will shine like a beacon for others out in the world. The office always smells nice and is always clean. The owners, John and Val, live on site, which gives us peace of mind. Stephanie the groomer is great with all of the dogs, and is able to get my dogs nails done, even though he is difficult. Pricing for all services is very reasonable. And all of the new renovations are very well done. We will continue to bring our current and future dogs to Bethway Kennels.
