Fabulous service. I decided to splurge and got the 14 oz Ribeye with salad and fries. The salad came with a huckleberry vinaigrette. The salad was fresh and the dressing was outstanding. I was a little surprised to see a $40 steak come out and be so thin. Less than .5 an inch. With it ordered medium rare it was clear that it was seared on both sides and left on one side to get to temp. I wasn't expecting much when I cut into it. However, it was delicious and had great flavoring. I missed the meatiness of a thick steak. This is the only reason for reducing any stars. I expect a little more from a steak at that price. I read online reviews and the menu for this restaurant and thought it sounded like a good option for my family for dinner. When we arrived we were met with a sign that said that due to staffing issues, dinner was buffet only. We checked with the hostess to ensure there would be steak available on the buffet and were assured there was. Sadly, the buffet was tiny and the meat options were bbq ribs, bbq chicken, pulled pork, and prime rib. No steaks. All the meat options were smoked (not indicated on the menu (except for the prime rib). For $30 a person, dessert should be included in the price. It should be noted that the only "staffing issue" I observed was that the place seemed to be incredibly OVER staffed. There were so many servers (15 by my count) and hostesses (4), that they spent the majority of their time leaning against counters talking to each other. Just no. It was extremely loud and the cook was very rude making rude comments. The buffet was not it either. The ribs were pink and the bun tasted stale and most of the food was overly seasoned and the corn was hard to bite into. It was a big no. Not to mention the prices were astronomical and was definitely not worth it and I wouldn't be surprised if that food was out there sense that this morning. When a restaurant charges premium prices, there's an expectation of premium quality or excellent preparation. Wyoming Roadhouse offers neither. The buffet dinner I had was the worst meal I've ever had in Cody! I had "al dente" (read undercooked) potato salad, peach "cobbler" with no sign of crust, peaches floating in some thin, milky liquid, overcooked shrimp with mushy, oil-soaked crust, watery au jus, and sodas lacking carbonation. These are a few examples of the poorly prepared, poorly presented, buffet line. The unsmiling service person barely greeted us, didn't offer or sell cocktails, specials, or the soup of the day, and had to be asked repeatedly to get a single refill of my wife's soda and my coffee. I had a 20+ year career in foodservice, including 7 years as an Executive Chef, so my perspective is based on experience. This restaurant, in my opinion, is a poor value. It took 15 minutes for the waitress to even come over to greet us and she seemed really dazed the whole time. She never explained where the buffet was or how it worked. $30 for a crappy selection of food, and dessert was not included apparently even if the menu states cakes and pies included, there was none. Really amazing food! We loved the brisket sandwich, and the desserts are of artisanal quality. The wait was a little longer than expected, but that is probably largely due to the fact they are in the process of hiring people as a new business. Very kind staff and good service. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY OR TIME! We came in and the restaurant was not busy at all. We waited almost thirty minutes for our drink order to be taken. Apparently the hostess did not tell the waiter that she had assigned him a table that wasn't normally in his section. At that point, we should have just got up and left. After we gave him our drink order it was another 20 minutes before we even got our drinks. The waiter left us (with small children) with empty glasses for over half an hour. When we finally did get our food, several of the orders came out wrong from the kitchen. I stood there for about five minutes as three females employees were gathered and talking about 25 feet from the entrance. One looked directly at me, but no one came over to greet me until a few more minutes passed. After I was seated, Sarah took my order promptly and my glass of wine was delivered fairly quickly. My food came (tri tip dip) and though the sandwich tasted ok (a nice smokey taste to the meat), the bun was not toasted which makes the sandwich soggy and falls apart after dipping. I'll start with the not so good. My wife's burger which she ordered "well" was cooked medium. She doesn't care for any pink in her burger. My burger, while cooked correctly was very dry and lacked the good "char" taste we've come to expect with our burgers in Cody. My daughter in law ordered the dinner salad which is clearly marked on the menu as being served with baked cheesy bread. No bread was served with the salad. When we brought this to the attention of our waitress she insisted the bread was not included. My daughter in law also asked for a side of the vinaigrette salad dressing the waitress recommended to try in attention to the ranch dressing. The vinaigrette was never brought to the table. A few things that could be done better: If you offer peanuts to snack on then put them on the table so customers who want them do not have to wait 15 minutes for them to be brought tot the table. Serve the burgers on plates and not in small baskets. Eating a burger and fries from a tiny basket is a pain. Plates please. Waitresses need to check on the table more often. Our other half got entrees. 20 minutes later they told us the kitchen was backed up and it would be at least 25 minutes to get our food. I took my baby for a walk at the campground next door and we're gone for AN HOIR before our party told us food had gotten there. They offered a free salad and dessert because of the wait but never followed through on the dessert part...would NOT recommend the place. Well, let's just say we miss the Sunset House (the restaurant that used to be in this building). This new place has beautiful updated decor, inside and out... and the smell, the smell! The smoker smells wonderful as you walk in. Everyone greets you with a very genuine-feeling smile. The staff is wonderful. I ordered the Tri Tip Sandwich, with Au Jus, and it comes with a side. I opted for a side salad, but also ordered an additional side of Onion Rings. The salad was good, very fresh and more than just lettuce, so that was nice. The meat on the sandwich was good. Not the best I've ever had, but good. The onion rings might have been good, if they had been hot. They were not. (If you want really good Onion Rings, go to Pat O'Hara's. We were only here because POH is closed Mon & Tues.) However it was the Au Jus that stole the show. It was TERRIBLE. It tasted like instant Beef Boullion that had too much water added to it. It was so bad, I refused to eat it and asked for some BBQ sauce. Even though this is a BBQ place, I just realized, they didn't ask me what KIND of BBQ I wanted. What I was served tasted a lot like Sweet Baby Rays. This is not bad BBQ sauce, it's just too sweet for my liking. Also, please give me a plate, not a basket for a sandwich and onion rings. This is not a fast food joint, as is evidenced by the prices. My husband ordered a Chef Salad, which was huge and the turkey on the salad was really good. I didn't see Turkey on the menu. I don't know if they smoke it there, or where they get it, but that was good. However, for a large, Entree Size Salad, he received one tiny cup of dressing--the same amount I received for my small, side salad. He also ordered a locally brewed Red Ale that was really good. I didn't understand the Peanuts on the menu, and the peanut shell tin bucket on the table, but I didn't see peanuts anywhere. Maybe you have to request them? I did want to mention Bob our waiter. He was amazing. Always with a smile, happy to get anything my little heart desired. He had that casual, easy-going demeanor that is the mark of a good server. One server Sam has obviously been doing this for years and it shows she was on top of what our table needed before we even had to think of asking. I rarely write a critical review of a restaurant but it seems this is one of those times. We chose this restaurant based on a parking lot full of cars. The place was busy. We had about a 30 minute wait which was ok. The problem started when we were seated and our waiter (the guy who resembles a character from Doonsbury) did not know what sides went with an entree. We had to remind him that "we think a salad goes with this.." Next. The entrees arrived, but no silverware. Again we had to ask. As well, my wife's salmon entree arrived without the ordered baked potato. After enquiring why this was the case he informed us that they had run out of potatoes. OK, she said she'd take the sweet potato fries..."Oh you want something else?" He asked. ....well yeah. The salmon itself was not bad. Our other entree was the 8 oz steak which was ordinary but overpriced at $27. The end result was an overpriced poorly served meal. There are better options locally. Wish I could leave zero stars. My husband and I had traveled all day and waited to eat until we arrived in Cody. We arrived at Wyoming Roadhouse at approximately 6:30 PM on a Tuesday. There was a 20 minute wait. That told us the food must be good. The hostess seated us. After 5 minutes or so the server came to our table. We told her we wanted a water and an iced tea, both with lemon. They were out of lemons. We told her we were ready to order. Pulled Pork sandwich for one and a Brisket sandwich for the other. Low and behold they were out! OF BOTH! But we could have the buffet for $30 per person. I'm not sure what makes these people think their food is worth double what we usually pay. We'd been told by a local that this was a newer restaurant in town but that word was it served good lunches. It was around noon on a weekday. The parking lot wasn't very full so we decided to try. The kitchen was short of staff, so although it's a sizable place, they weren't seating at all the tables. We waited about 15 min for a table. Our server, Bella, quickly brought water and took our beverage (a craft brew and a root beer) and meal orders (2 pulled pork sandwiches) one side of the apple cole slaw and the other of friend onion rings. The beverages came fairly quickly and after a short time the sandwiches, which were large and smelled amazing. The challenge seemed to be to provide knives so we could at least cut them in half. It seemed as though it was an unusual request as folks tried to find 2. Hefty steak knives were ultimately provided but we wondered for awhile if the sandwiches would be cold before those were provided. Hubs took a fe bites of the cole slaw and told me it was bland, mushy and seemed devoid of any apple taste. The onion rings were actually quite good. He added the additional BBQ sauce to his pork, though I found mine just right as it was. Maybe in time, as COVID passes, staffing improves and gets more experience under its belt, this place will earn higher ratings. read more

She found someone to answer our questions, though some of the answers were "maybe". About 5 minutes later she came back and said they were out of what I ordered, so I changed to what my brother had ordered. 5 minutes later she came back and said they were out of that too. Really great place - energetic staff and lively atmosphere. Especially with how much meat you get, great sized portions. I got the roadhouse burger and my buddy got the ribs - those stole the show. They do the sauce on the side, heated up warm to order. (I'd ask for extra!) Definitely used my fair share of napkins, but what's what I want when I'm grubbing on some Q.
