I like this roof top bar , there is no pretense from the crowd that goes there at all and its a great way to get away from the craziness of Williamsburg . I remember this area when it used to be all warehouses and no street lights but trip up nostalgia lane . The best thing is you can either sit in the sun and mingle or get a table in the shade and chill . DJ is amazing , he plays a very chilled set in the afternoon setting the mood perfectly . My only gripe is the cider , please don't just offer a fancy smancy British cider at 13 bucks a pop , get some Magners for those hot summers day . This place has AMAZING views. Came with a group of friends for a birthday, it was our last stop. You have to take an elevator to the top floor which was pretty cool. The bar was really nice. Inside and outside. A little on the pricey side. Mixed drinks were $18 and up. I didn't have any food so can't rate that. Staff was very friendly. I didn't stay at the hotel, I just came with my girlfriend for a drink on the rooftop while waiting for Brooklyn Bowl to open. The scene from the deck is stunning. Views ranging from the Empire State Building all the way out to Whitestone. If your looking to impress friends out of town or a special some one , definitely the right spot. We were lucky coming out on a Monday afternoon I'm sure the busier the day the more crowded and annoying it will be. read more

This is a great venue. I was here last month during the Brooklyn Film Festival to see the NYC premiere screening of #LIKE (directed by Sarah Pirozek). They have a cozy theatre downstairs that seats about 80 with a full bar in the lobby. Pretty damn cool. I really liked the vibe here. After the film, we hung out at the bar. I would like to go back and really hang out. This is the second time I've stepped foot in Brooklyn in 8 years, so this was definitely a big deal. read more

The Wythe Hotel is such a wonderful place and so warming. So warming in fact that you'll actually catch fire because of their FDNY fire code violations. That's right, I caught on fire because they are careless and violated FDNY fire code. It all happened this past weekend, when a good buddy of mine held his wedding ceremony and reception there. We were all having a good time at the after party, down in the theater room there. At one point, a group of us moved out of the bar area and into the actual screening room. So while shooting the shit with a friend, I naturally leaned against the counter there in the back of the room, like any other person would do if they were in my position. Just a few moments later, the groom's Mother said, "Oh my god, you're on fire!" and started patting my back to put the flames out. I had no fucking idea that I was on fire and the flames had burned a 3-4 inch hole through both the jacket and the shirt, and left residue on the pants. Shortly after that panic, an employee did come into the room because they smelled something similar to burning hair (which could have very likely been the case) and asked what had happened. We responded by saying the situation is fine, since we didn't want to put the focus of the event/celebration on the fact that I had just legit caught fire, and dampen everyone's spirits. To be clear, I'm a tall guy and didn't bother to look at the counter before leaning against it, because who thinks, "It might be dangerous to lean on a waist high counter. I better be extra cautious and inspect" before leaning on anything that one would naturally lean up against when socializing? It wasn't like it was a dining table, it was a waist high counter. But little did I know that there were candles placed along the top, which is an unlawful violation of fire code (pics attached), due to the candles being placed in an area that would be deemed hazardous to occupants. This is a fact, regardless of whether one has an open flame permit or not, which is the excuse they gave me when I called them for reimbursement. Read the fire code for yourself. There are several fire code books, 2008 and 2014 are apparently the official codes that FDNY goes by, but there have been amendments in between that apply as well. Now, I didn't want to file a lawsuit and I still don't. All I wanted was for the damages to be covered. I'm not a suit and tie guy, but that night I wanted to look especially good for my friends' wedding, so I went to a reputable tailor to rent a suit for the evening. The suit was not my own, but I was responsible for making sure it came back in pristine condition, which I assumed would have been the case, because who the hell expects to catch fire at a wedding at what's supposedly a reputable hotel/venue. Upon returning the suit, I was charged ~$400 for the repairs/replacement items, on top of what I had already dished out for the rental costs. I'm not poor, but I'm not rich either, and $400 would have covered a good portion of my rent this month. From an objective perspective, it's a significant amount regardless of your income. When I called Wythe Hotel to bring this to their attention and request a reimbursement, seeing that it was a clear unlawful violation and all, a manager (Katie) politely transferred me to a co-owner's voicemail (Peter). It's worth mentioning, he has yet to return my call and address the issue in a responsible and appropriate manner. After not receiving a response from either manager in a 24 hour period, I called FDNY to bring this to their attention because it could have happened to anyone. If not resolved, a situation, like mine, could happen once again at the Wythe Hotel, and people have a right to be aware of this so that they can avoid encountering a similar situation. Just think, it could have been a child whose clothes caught fire, or someone with long hair could have very well of had their hair catch fire. It's a dangerous, and unlawful, situation no matter how you spin it (like they did). Later in the day, after calling FDNY, I called Wythe Hotel once more. Again, they were polite, but useless in addressing the situation responsibly or with concern for a patron of their establishment. Once again, I spoke with Katie who said that Peter wasn't in again, and then asked whether I had called FDNY because FDNY made a walkthrough of the building, and "found some things out of place". She continued to state that Wythe Hotel is unable to address my very reasonable request of covering the repair/replacement fee of the suit because they have an open flame permit. Last I checked, having a permit doesn't grant anyone immunity, nor does it grant them the ability to freely violate fire code and endanger the lives of occupants at will. When I responded with, "It's still against code, which is unlawful, as stated in the FDNY fire code document" Katie stated that, "FDNY came here and said everything is fine". This is a great rooftop bar to come to just to grab a drink and relax. I came here on a Saturday afternoon around 3:30pm. There was a line outside the hotel to get on the rooftop. The line was really just to go up the elevator. Which makes sense to help filter the amount of people going up and down the rooftop.We waited for maybe less than 15 minutes. Once we were able to go inside there was a man standing in the middle of the hallway by the elevator to check ids. Once Id's were checked he walked a group of us to the elevator and send us upstairs. When the doors opened , once you walk out you can go straight which is right to the bar, to the left which is the outside of the rooftop and the right which is seating. If you want to sit outside on the tables or inside you have to see the waitress at the podium. Due to the heat that day we decided to sit inside. If we wanted to sit outside there was a 20 minute wait and inside we were able to be seated immediately. We of of course opted to sit inside. You can also just hang around outside and stand or stand by the bar. The lady had also asked us if we wanted a view of the nYC skyline which I thought was a great option to have. We didn't care for a view so we just took the first table she offered us. Which wasn't a pretty bad seat at all. We were seated by the window in a small round table. The great thing about this place is that gratuity is included so you don't have to leave a separate tip. The drinks are already priced to include them. I had gotten a glass of white wine - Muscadet and lets just say it was a really small glass of wine for $16.00. Again though for not having to leave a tip I guess its reasonable for a nice rooftop bar. Also ordered a side order of olives which was beyond delicious. It had just the right amount of seasoning and oil. If you are a condiment freak like me, absolutely have to get these. My wife and I got married at the Wythe Hotel on January 2, 2016. It was a spectacular evening, made exceptional by the stunning views of Manhattan in the South 8th loft where we had our ceremony and cocktail hour and also the attentiveness of the hotel staff, which included our captain, Todd, and the gracious servers that catered to our party of 25. We had considered other small wedding venues that also offered a unique experience, such as Housing Works Bookstore in Soho, but in the end we chose the Wythe Hotel because it had a modern yet old world feel to it, and Nicole Potenec, Event Sales Manager, and Abijah Tabb, Events Coordinator, were such a pleasure to work with! No question or request was too much. They helped us plan and execute the wedding of our dreams! Our dinner reception in the brick-walled Private Dining Room - where barrels were produced many decades ago - was beautifully lit with candles, courtesy of the hotel. Our wedding cake, made by the in-house pastry chef and done in a lovely watercolor design to match our wedding invitations, was delightful. We didn't know our menu until two weeks before the wedding because the food from Reynard consisted of local and seasonal offerings - well worth the wait (and surprise) because everything was delicious, especially the brussels sprouts, beef carpaccio, and duck! All of our guests raved about the space, and from start to finish it was such a positive experience to have selected the Wythe Hotel as our wedding venue. This review is for the rooftop bar only. I ordered the Moscow Mule and aviation. The aviation was absolutely one of the top 3 cocktails I've ever ordered. On the flip side, I'm 90% sure they accidentally gave me a tequila cocktail instead of the Mule, which was gross -- howEVER, I'm no lightweight and it got me buzzed fast. The view is one-of-a-kind. Go early in the night and enjoy before it gets too crowded. Came here for drinks on a cold, winter evening. The hotel has a hipster-ish vibe, but let's face it - you're really coming here for the views. Drinks are rather pricy, however, gratuity is included in the price. The bar is long and sleek and there are few tables here and there. Sit at the bar if you can because you'll be able to enjoy the amazing NYC skyline whilst sipping on your $20 Old Fashioned. In the summer months, the terrace is obviously the place to be for the views and if you want to snag a good panoramic pic of the skyline. Overall, I'd recommend coming for a drink and soaking up the views. There's no food service at the bar, so it makes for a great place for a pre or post dinner drink. read more

Racist? Possibly. Prejudiced? Definitely. This review is not about the hotel itself, but about the nightlife Wythe Hotel has to offer (main street level bar and rooftop bar). I arrived at the Wythe Hotel on a Friday night to have drinks with friends. We walked right into the hotel and had no issues at the main bar. We decided to make our way to the elevators that led to the rooftop bar. The line was roughly 12-15 people deep, and certainly we didn't mind waiting. As we stood in line, the woman in charge of allowing people in the elevators started discouraging us from waiting in line. Her name was Anna. She told us that it would take THREE hours for us to get in and that it wasn't worth waiting in line. We ignored her advice because we knew there was no way it could take 3 hours (it's not Vegas). Surely enough, 15 minutes later, we were two people short of the front of the line. Anna stepped out of the elevator, looked to the right in our direction, and pointed at the caucasian male in front of us. She then ignored the black male behind him, ignored us (we're Asian), and then pointed at a few more white folks after us. She asked those groups how many people they had, and then brought them up in the elevator to go upstairs. We had to LAUGH at how awkward that situation was. I don't think Anna even realized what she just did. We decided to stay patient and when Anna came back down, she didn't even look in our direction and proceeded to select more white folks to go upstairs. At this time my small group was already getting aggravated. She eventually allowed the black male to go upstairs after another trip. We congratulated him and he laughed along. So here we are in front of the line and Anna has made several trips and skipped us each time. Our second group of friends arrived to join us in line. Once again Anna ignored us, but the next trip, she picks the second group of our friends to come up. Was it because they were white? Maybe. Those friends told Anna they wouldn't go up without us, and Anna refused and said we couldn't fit in the elevator. My friends then refused to go up and exited the elevator. This is when I simply lost it. I said out loud to her, "It's because we're not white, right? Is that why you're not letting us up?" Anna walked up to me to listen to what I had to say. I mentioned how many times she ignored us for other groups that were behind us in line, and how she never even bothered to look our way. I asked if she even noticed what she was doing since it was so obvious in our eyes. I asked for her name and promised she would hear from me again. I added that this was not the way to make a reputation, especially with the hotel being so new. When I said that her reasoning for her selections seemed RACIST, she immediately said "Oh no no, that is one thing we are not, we're not racist at all!" I then brought up how she just chose almost all white people while skipping us Asians and asked her "Doesn't that seem racist?" This is when Anna gives her true motives and says, "We are NOT racist, but I do pick whoever I want." She then says she's had enough, ends the conversation and heads into the elevator. Of course I had to get my last word in, "You basically discriminated us, just because we're yellow and don't look the way you want!" The elevator doors closed and I stormed out of the building. I'm the last person to speak out like that, but this situation was extreme. We were clearly discriminated from entering the rooftop, and I'm distraught that the Wythe Hotel would allow such practices to go on. If this is how they treat their patrons, I wonder how hotel guests would be treated. Was Anna acting like that because management encouraged it? I wonder. read more

WARNING: DO NOT EVER PATRON THIS PLACE. EVER. Not entirely sure where to start so I'll go with it. My fiance and I toured the Wythe Hotel as a possible venue to host our wedding ceremony/reception in November 2012 (wedding to be august 2013). The space was nice but...something was off. We ended up not choosing the Wythe for many reasons, one of which was their total and utter lack of communication or follow up. For $60,000 I would expect better. Some time passes and we chose our venue, in Williamsburg (we live here) and are extremely happy. Now was the time to contact hotels and block off some rooms. Come to find out; the wythe does not block rooms for ANYONE unless they are getting married AT the Wythe. Weird, considering I could guarantee 20 rooms be booked because every guest was from out of town but, again, okay. We make our reservation and indicate on our invitations as such that although they would not block for us, guests are more than welcome to stay here. So about 10-15 rooms get booked up with myself and fiance in a south 7th loft and wedding party/parents/aunts/uncles in king rooms. Cool. Can we take photos, day of wedding, on the terrace when the bar isn't open? No. If we want to, itll be another $10,000. At first I thought someone was punking me. I have 15 rooms booked, none of which you helped with, am staying in one of your most expensive and nicest rooms for TWO nights and am getting married and yet, 10k for the pictures? No. After some haggling the price came down, but it was still a charge for what otherwise could have been a free guerilla effort as the too-cool-for-school bartender cutting lemons could have gave a shit that we were there in the first place. But I wanted to be nice. Day before check-in: give a call to ensure a package, which was a gift in form of donation cards to a charity that means the world to me, and the girl on the phone laughs at me, doesn't take my name and hangs up the phone. This is where I become irate. My fiance and I personally brought this hotel roughly $10,000-$15,000 for one weekend and the girl has the audacity to laugh at me. Night number 2: doorman calls us queers. I'm done. so so done. The room, hence the one star, was STUNNING but by no means worth the price, attitude, too-cool-for-school, elitist, homophobic, holier than thou attitude. It's just not. The bar, which has a seperate yelp, is the worst of the worst. No wonder conde nast travel gave such a shitty review. read more

REVIEW FOR THE HOTEL: The pros: * It is a great way to experience all the hilarious, pricey splendor of WillyLand, the affluent yuppie-hipster paradise and playground where all your adultish dreams can come true. * The staff are, with the exception of one douchebag who will make it into the cons list, absolutely delightful. Nearly all of them felt like friends. It's like Southern hospitality with a well-dressed Brooklyn twist. My husband said the service was better than the Ritz (except for the douchebag in the cons list). * If you love HYPE! this is your place. * The rooms come stocked with hipster-fare. I do appreciate that they feature some local manufacturers. * Pretty, well-dressed people come to Reynard's, the restaurant downstairs, and to the bar upstairs. It's a super-scene, and the food is very good by WillyLand standards, which means excellent by most other standards. The burger was one of the best I've had. The cons: Are many. Please, pull up a chair while I expound them to you, adorned in hipster chic with a $6 latte in hand. * The people who designed the place have apparently never been to a $500/night hotel. If this hotel was ANYWHERE else besides the magical world of WillyLand, about half that price *might* be reasonable. * The rooms are bare, stark, the design looks like they went to Google Images, searched "Hipster Accessories", and bought the first 10 things that showed up. None of it works. * Concrete floors, soooooo cozy. Would you like some sarcasm with your latte? * Terrible insulation, thin walls, I could hear hipsters hobnobbing all night long. Not to mention wailing wind whipping through the wind-tunnel they cleverly created without a single thought of "wind break". Drafty and cold by the windows. * The architecture, for all its hype, is really pretty meh. Nothing special there. * While I appreciate the originality of offering striped Turkish towels, it's fucking winter, your floors are concrete, and they're not even soft Turkish cotton, it's a thick cardboardy type. My dear husband has the sweetness of mind to book us a weekend at the Wythe so we can revisit some of our WillyLand nostalgia (we moved from Williamsburg about a year ago) for a romantic baby-moon weekend. He recently got a quadrocopter and he's basically as excited as a little kid to fly this thing. We go up to the roof patio to give it a spin before we turn in for the eve, and are just getting it set up when Señor Douche Himself walks up with a flashlight and says in a harsh tone without looking at either of us, "Uh yeah, that ain't gonna happen. Nope, not gonna happen. That's not going to happen here." It was one of those tones of voice that hurt my body to hear, and his attitude toward my husband and I was something like I might expect one to act if a homeless guy was settling in to sleep on the roof. Condescending, authoritarian, derisive. Fail again, Wythe. I'm almost certain he had no concept of the idea that we were paying $500 a night to stay at their lame hotel, but still--even if we weren't...how about some common respect? Now, to Wythe's defense, there was another guy with him who looked at us and was like, "Hey, it's OK man, you didn't know!" If I saw him again, I'd hug him. So, Wythe? Skip it. You can get something freaking exquisite on AirBnb for that price. Or an actually nice hotel in Manhattan. read more

No doubt about it, this hotel is beautiful. The interior is modern and simplistic, and the rooms are spacious and airy- definitely my kind of hotel, visually. The 6th floor bar has breathtaking views of the city and plenty of mingling room. Unfortunately, these great characteristics are overshadowed by the smug service provided by most of the staff. Oftentimes, I'm willing to overlook the lack of hospitality if I'm at least being helped whenever I have questions. However, when I was having difficulty locking the patio door, the porter actually told me the door "just doesn't lock, and only Spiderman could get in here." Strange, considering there was a deadbolt on the door. As a woman staying there alone (who was easily able to climb over to the next balcony), this made me a bit uneasy. And luckily, after fussing with the lock for nearly 20 min, i was able to figure out how the door locked on my own. In the past week and a half I've stayed here 3 times, and each time, the person who checked me in has told me something different about the incidental charges. I've never been welcomed with a smile, and only once has anyone bothered to ask how my stay went upon check out. Sadly, the beauty of this place doesn't make up for the unwelcome feeling you get from the staff. I recommend staying at the King and Grove a couple of blocks away. Prices are better, it's cute, clean and you'll feel welcome as soon as you walk through the door. read more

I was fortunate enough to do that whole staycation business recently at the Wythe Hotel. Meaning, yes, I already live in Brooklyn and I spent a weekend in a Brooklyn hotel. Don't judge me. But I do recognize this gives me an interesting perspective as I'm likely not the typical guest at the Wythe. I'd hate to fool myself into thinking I'd had an authentic experience in a city, only to find out the locals find my given accommodations terribly inauthentic. My point here is that the Wythe Hotel is very cosmopolitan, very current, and very Williamsburg (the entitled half of Williamsburg, at least). If guests from elsewhere have chosen to stay here in an effort to get a real feel of the neighborhood, they've chosen wisely. Behold minimalist design nirvana. Exposed brick, wood plank ceilings, and lots of white space gave my room a very neo-Brooklyn, loft-like feel. Meanwhile, the giant bathtub and half-glass shower evoked more European-style expectations. Once I had the time to settle into my new temporary real estate, I began to discover some pretty awesome features that I've truly never encountered in a hotel room before: 1) heated concrete floors (seriously, try to imagine walking barefoot on this type of surface and it not being freezing), and 2) an audio jack built into the wall for your iDevice, so that you can bump your own tunes through a concealed speaker system above the bed's headboard. When it comes to the little things, the Wythe Hotel makes it look easy. That's not to say my stay was perfect, but it was damn close. The bed was a little hard for my liking, but I've slept on much, much worse (my, how far I've come from frat life). Weirdly, the room also smelled like fresh baby diapers, but again, I've dealt with much, much worse (my, how far I've come from frat life). During the day, there is little to do in the hotel once you step out of your room (although the main entrance area exudes the same ripped-from-a-high-end-home-furnishing catalogue confidence), but this just forces you to get outdoors and explore the neighborhood. At night's a different story, given the popularity of The Ides, the Wythe's trendy rooftop bar. As a guest with elevator access, you also skip the perpetual line, one of the few guaranteed queues in Williamsburg. Returning to the Wythe after nightfall and going straight through the front door when this line is at its longest will also get you a lot of dirty looks and "There's a line..." side-eyes from pissed-off, impatient would-be partiers until you flash your hotel key card to the bouncers and then, if possible, suddenly everyone hates you even more. Earlier this year, New York Magazine gave every little girl's favorite fictitious rich bitch Eloise a modern-day reimagining, trading in her '50s digs at the Plaza in Manhattan for a residence at the Wythe. These new illustrations were meant to be a fun remake of sorts, but even the notion for this kind of update speaks volumes about the cemented status of Brooklyn as the cultural center of The City these days. Silly how a cartoon can seal the deal, but after staying at the Wythe Hotel myself, it's impossible to even consider any other accommodations in the hipster headquarters for today's definition of an on-trend, luxury, New York lifestyle. As for me? Sure, I was a tourist in my own borough for a weekend, and I could fake being bougie with the best of 'em. Plus, I still got my key card. Meaning, I can skip that line anytime. And you might just never know the difference.... read more

It was a Friday night and I was with a group of friends trying to grab drinks at the rooftop bar. There was a short line for the rooftop and FIRST the doorman told everyone that the rooftop was crowded so there was no room left. However, shortly right after he lets a group of people in, and when it gets to our turn in line he tells us that the rooftop is closed. Then lo and behold what happens? The doorman lets another group of people bypass us and enter the rooftop. We were a group off well dressed Asians and just looking for a good time. Wythe Hotel has an amazing view of the New York skyline from Brooklyn. The only caveat is that you have to endure the hipster haven that crowds around here and high society socialites. No chill. The line is usually VERY long and stretches around the hotel building. But thankfully it keeps moving. The architecture of the building is very interesting with squared out windows and the lights that wrap around the walls outside. Mixed drinks are expensive. I tried a sour beer instead. Beautiful place. When you enter, the layout looks like it came straight out of an interior design catalog. The restaurant/bar has a sexy, mysterious vibe to it. Dimly lit, and lots of eye candy. The hotel is worth a visit due to its modern architecture and decoration, but my experience was with the rooftop! I think you can definitely find better views of Manhattan's landscape from other places (probably they won't be a fancy hotel). The view is not of the full landscape because of the buildings blocking it, and there's not enough room by the balcony's edge to accommodate everyone willing to see something. The bar is not super fancy but it's a little pricy. Many tourists go there during summer and it is common the wait in the line outside of the building for a couple minutes. I don't remember if there's a dress code, but make sure not to be sloppy, otherwise you're likely to feel a little awkward. The rooftop is a little overrated and I bet the best views are saved for the hotel best rooms, but if you go, I recommend the sunset time! read more

Review of the hotel bar: beautiful bar with a great view. There's a lot going for this place but it struck out on many fronts when I was there last Saturday. Strike one: my friends and I were told they were closing the rooftop for the remainder of the evening when we arrived because they were "at capacity". However, after a friend dropped a name we were promptly escorted in. As the night went on a few other friends arrived without an issue. I was hoping the B.S. door policies weren't ever going to make to BK! Booo to that. Strike 2: on a Saturday night they ran out of Crown and Johnny Black...before midnight. I drank Powers which brought me some fond memories of drinking at pubs in Woodside/Sunnyside. Strike 3: I ordered 2 Coronas for a couple behind me to help them with the wait at the bar. The bartender gave us 2 Pacificos which I believe were 12 bucks a pop without even asking us if the replacement was ok. After a long wait the couple just accepted the wrong order. Horrible. 1 star for the view. 1 star for the friendly bouncers upstairs. read more

I've been to the rooftop bar a total of 3 times and on my most recent visit I actually got to explore the outside deck. First of all the views of Manhattan from here is gorgeous. There's plenty of drink options yet drinks are expensive. Exploring the deck was a treat since it wraps around 2/4 of the building's width (plenty of seating). What I absolutely can't stand is the smokers....constantly blowing their cigarette smoke left right and center Most of the rooftops or bars I've been to have smoking sections for people that like to huff and puff. This would greatly improve my appeal to the bar However I still recommend the rooftop bar especially if you have out of town guest and want to be a good tour guide Just beware of the price.....and go on a weeknight to avoid long lines. I started here for three days in May. While it was a nice enough hotel, I don't think it lived up to the hype. Or the price quite frankly. The room was cool (king), spacious and I will say the view of the river was spectacular day and night. Almost mesmerizing. Mini bar was also very cool. But the floors seemed grimey, the table in the room was dirty (like 25 old glass ring marks you could see during the day in the light). Made me think they never wipe down the tables. There was black hair stuck to the shower wall when I first arrived too. Bleck. He toiletries they offer were local and fantastic. Service was hit and miss. Some employees are friendly and others seem like they don't want to be there. Compared to the second hotel I stayed at in Manhattan after here, the Wythe staff seem super indifferent. The rooftop bar line means you have to feel like you need to prove you are a guest everytime you walk through the entrance at night too. And riding up and down the elevator with rowdy tipsy bar patrons isn't super fun either. You will also hear music from said bar in your room until it shuts each night. That didn't bother me but I can see where it would bother some guests. Location is a little off the beaten track. But it is within walking distance of some neat little restaurants and shops. The view and the size of the room kept this review at a three. But I'm pretty sure I wouldn't stay here again. read more

(Review of bar) Can't wait to go back. Pleasant surprise to the area. I appreciate the attire. It is NOT ruined by suites (as someone previously mentioned). A bit on the classy side for the casual hipster area. That's totally fine. There has to be a balance in the area. Honestly, I didn't like te service from one of the bartenders... That was a first for me... But I'll let it fly, but when I got out to the see the view from the roof top... I was like whoa! Probably the best view you can catch in the area. There are a few roof top spots around but this is probably one of the best as it's higher and closer to the water. I hear rooms start at around $150. I don't know what the rooms look like, but for the location and two bars, and the crowd I saw, it has to be decent as what I previously mentioned should make up for whatever isn't great about the rooms. read more

A marvellous concept in a convenient location, Wythe Hotel is built in an early 20th century factory renovated into a 70-room boutique hotel. The highlight of my stay was the exceptional hospitality provided by the Concierge staff and bouncers who readily helped with recommendations and directions around the area. The rooms are larger than your typical nyc hotel, and my fav part of them is the In-room surround sound controllable by iPhone. Definitely enjoyed my mornings waking to and freshening up with my music in the background! Bath products fragrant; shower was a tad messy to deal with without a door. The free guest wifi is spotty and I had to frequently re-connect to the hotel network. I'm told the paid network is much more efficient, but I couldn't be bothered really. One major complaint is the stink in the elevators while I was there. I couldn't pinpoint what it was, but it resembled that of rotten wood maybe? Thought it was vomit at first, but honestly I'm not too sure... Overall, not a bad experience with its friendly staff, laid-back concept, comfortable & spacious rooms, and convenient location. It's a decent recommendation for the frequent visitor who might want to try a different scene to Manhattan. read more

Hipsters drinking and screaming out the window until 5am like they are still in college. If you want sleep, don't come here. Beds are not that comfortable. No robes. Extremely bare room w/ cement floor. Not worth the price at all. Rude staff- tried to get a cot sent up and the guy kept arguing that they don't have any, when I knew they had some type of extra bed. It's a hotel... Of course they have to. I called him out and finally he said,"oh well... we have an air mattress?" YES, front desk guy, that will do. Needless to say, he was rude about having to send someone to bring it up and basically hung up on me. Wish there were more hotel options around. Two stars since its at least clean and is convenient location in Williamsburg. Attached restaurant, Reynard, is good. read more

Listen. I'll make this simple. If you are looking for a normal hotel experience which includes things like: 1. Coffee and tea in the room. 2. Toiletries like soap, Q tips, lotion. 3. A bathrobe 4. Room service. With actual food. 5. A restaurant in the hotel. With actual food. 6. Adequate lighting. 7. A rug. At least somewhere if there is no carpet. Just a soft place to land. 8. A peaceful night of sleep without hearing the partying people next door. Then this is NOT and I repeat, NOT the hotel for you. However, if you are looking for: 1. A hotel that is trying desperately to cater to the hipster crowd. 2. A fully stocked full bar in the place of any coffee water or tea, with all of the accoutrements to make an amazing drink and party all night long. Then....I still don't know because I can't actually recommend this hotel to anyone. I'm in my 30s. I like a good time like the next person. I also like nice and new and modern like most. But this is the most uncomfortable hotel I have ever stepped foot in. There is no room service! There is no restaurant to get a meal! All thEy have are friggin "bites." A plate of almonds, a plate of Brie, no heart meals containing anything like chicken, beef, salmon, shrimp absolutely nothing hearty. You will starve if you don't go outside this place to eat. You. Will. Starve. And if you want that coffee or tea? You have to PAY for it. Oh no, no complimentary wake up caffeine for you only glasses upon glasses of absolute or vermouth take your pick!! The people next door were so loud I recorded it on my phone. It was epic. Needless to say, I will never return here and they need to rethink their business plan immediately. I give it 1 star for the customer service but I'd give a half of one if I could. The staff was friendly. And if it weren't for the guy at the door who recommended a vegan sandwich shop directly across the street, I would've perished right there in that dimly lit vestibule. Trust me my out of towners. Go across the street to the bar to have some pretty amazing vegan food from the guy making sandwiches in the back. Then go to Whole Foods and eat there if you need more. The DJs play different music every time I come, so I never quite know what to expect. I think the faux line at the lobby is annoying. Review of the bar, not the hotel. Friend and I went on a Wednesday night. It was mildly crowded but not awful. The view indeed was nice, although I can get a similar view from the roof of my building anytime, as can most people in this part of Williamsburg. There were six people working behind the bar. I'm not sure how many were actually bartenders, but man was it crowded back there. My friend and I waited ten minutes, making eye contact with all of the various employees several times, and still weren't able to order anything. So we left. This neighborhood has way too many nice bars to waste your time at a place where they can't even get it together to have one of the six people behind the bar serve you. Maybe just go up, check out the view, and then go drink somewhere with decent service. read more

Spacious rooftop. Amazing sunset and city views. Expensive yet strong drinks. Lots and lots of beautiful people. AND selfies everywhere. This rooftop is really nice and gaining popularity very quickly. It was packed when we arrived last saturday night but the area is very large so there is enough space and the bar area indoors and space to move around on the patio area without getting in the way of everyones photos. We had a wedding reception at the South 8th Loft in mid October and the whole experience there was absolutely pleasant and fantastic!!! For the whole 2 months prior to the event, the event sales manager Nicole and event coordinator Abijah had been very helpful, efficient, professional and patient with us when my husband and I were planning for the special day with them. They always answered all and any of our questions in a kind, friendly manner, and they successfully created such a memorable event for our special day. We cannot thank them enough. The South 8th Loft was just a right size for our small, intimate reception with 31 guests (the max is 40 guests) and the way the staff set up the room, open bar and food was just perfect. And the view of the Manhattan skyline beyond the East River was sooooo spectacular and gorgeous it took every guest's breath away! Many guests asked me how I had found about this room and we received so many compliments. The staff working in the room that day were very attentive, diligent and friendly, and everyone had a great time there! It's been more than 2 weeks but our friends are still talking about how gorgeous and beautiful the event and the view were! Last but not least, this loft, the open bar and catered food were affordable compared to other ridiculously expensive hotels, event spaces and restaurants in Manhattan. We had made so many inquires before we decided to hold our reception at Wythe Hotel, and we are 200% sure we made the very best choice. I would absolutely recommend this loft, their excellent services and the lovely food from Reynard to anyone who is looking for a place to hold a party or gathering. Did an Eventbrite here with music on the roof. It gets pretty packed so arrive early but know you'll still probably be standing. It's a really cool vibe with an amazing view. Totally up there with the rest of the rooftops around. read more
