I stayed here in the spring for a weekend with my husband for his birthday. We spent a little more to upgrade to a room that had exposed brick and more of the industrial Brooklyn feel, and we were a little disappointed that our room didn't actually have the brick. The hotel room was beautiful and even provided a mini bottle of prosecco with a happy birthday note - I thought that was super sweet. We didn't feel like venturing out too far on our first night in, so we went downstairs and sat at the bar of Le Crocodile for dinner. The cocktails were superb and everything we ate was delicious. My only complaint -- when you are spending this much on a hotel room, it would be nice to have a coffee machine in the room. A Nespresso or a Keurig even... no coffee in the morning while you're getting ready is super annoying. You either have to call room service or, if you're awake between 5-6am you can get coffee in the lobby. All staff were super friendly read more

We loved our stay here. When we arrived our room wasn't ready for another 10 minutes, so they offered us free drinks at the bar. They were delicious, best martini I ever had. When we got our room they upgraded us for my fiancés birthday ! The room was beautiful everyone had been very kind. Will definitely be staying here again. read more

Absolutely HORRIBLE wedding venue. It was freezing cold, the music was too loud, and during the actual ceremony, you could still hear the pounding club music in the background, not to mention the ceiling thudding in the wind. Food is included in the package and it was a joke. Vegetable crudites were cut by a person who had never seen a vegetable in their lives; the bell peppers included all of the seeds and stems. What?? The signature cocktail was awful and unbalanced, pretty much undrinkable. I had a terrible time while trying to celebrate a joyous occasion. The hotel and our room were lovely; the room had a great view of Manhattan, and Le Crocodile restaurant was excellent. Unfortunately, our enjoyment of our room was significantly disrupted on the 2nd day/night of our 2 night stay by overpowering incredibly loud electronic music, featuring the bass and bass drum, which shook the windows of our room, made conversation, relaxation or any other activity difficult, to say the least. The music originated in part from an in-hotel wedding reception. Despite our numerous calls to reception, the hotel staff failed to address the issue. The issue resolved only because the wedding ended at 11:30. To put this issue in context, we have lived in NYC for many years and are accustomed to and comfortable with the noise level of the city. Ambulance and police sirens, the sounds of nearby restaurants setting out their trash and the morning garbage collection, traffic and people yelling on the side walk at any time of day or night don't phase us in the slightest. What was remarkable was not only the volume but the fact that the music generated so much force that we could feel the vibrations on the windows and while sitting on the couch and chair. No amount of noise cancelling headphones or sound machines could dissipate the inescapable sensation of literally being shaken in our hotel room. We were told that NYC law permits loud music until 11pm. Relying on that law might be appealing to those dealing with complaints from unhappy fellow apartment dwellers, but one would think a hotel would want to satisfy all its guests, not just those in a wedding party. Further, when one books a hotel room, one might reasonably expect to have at least some peace and quiet in one's room. That was not possible at the Wythe. Further, one of the staff told us that many other hotel guests had complained, and that we were "lucky" we hadn't come in the summer when loud music is the rule all day/night long. I suppose if you like incredibly loud electronic music, featuring the bass and bass drum, the Wythe is the place for you. If you don't, you might want to consider other options. read more

My wife and I just stayed at the hotel for a full week. Hotel staff at the door and front desk were top notch. Extremely friendly at all times. helpful with a number of things we asked about related to food, barber, bars, gym, directions, etc. We loved the bar on the sixth floor with views of the East River and Manhattan. Main floor restaurant was solid dinner and even better room service. Our room had a similar view of the river and city. Lots of space with a desk and leather chairs to lounge. Only on one night we were made aware of a DJ playing music in a loft room and given a written heads up that they would stop at 11. We used the free passes to the Brooklyn Athletic Club for daily workouts. Huge benefit for a great gym. Highly recommend this hotel. read more

Wow. We just had an incredible stay at this sexy, cool hotel in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Upon arrival, we were greeted with smiles and welcomes from the door person to the front desk staff. Our room was INSANE! We were upgraded to a Loft on the 7th floor with a gorgeous view of all of Manhattan. Our apartment (it felt like a whole apartment) was equipped with a nice shower (loads of hot water,) soaking tub, beautiful encaustic tiles, a living area with a flat screen tv, a king bed that overlooked the river and the city and amenities for days, not to mention some amazing fries from room service. All of the touches, from the denim robes, to a VERY stocked bar and mini fridge made our stay that much more enjoyable. It's a bit on the loud side but hey, we're in Brooklyn, not Maine, so deal with it. Can't wait to stay again. read more

Overall was a nice clean hotel with industrial urban vibes. The bathroom/shower was nice and large with glass doors for studio rooms. High tech speakers to connect in your room along with standard tv for casting. The 6th floor has a bar that stays open til midnight which has views of manhattan's skyline through the window. Note that the hotel room walls are thin as I was able to hear noise at nights from my neighbors rooms which was disturbing but I was able to fall a sleep and not wake up. If your light sleeper may not be a good idea. read more

Got to check this place out during a wedding party and I really liked the service from the moment you enter the premises. the staff knows exactly what's going on in the hotel and would direct you to whatever party you're supposed to be attending. The views from the 6 floor bar are absolutely stunning. There's a wrap-around patio that you can hang out although winter time is in the best for it but it's still pretty impressive overlooking the New York City skyline. For the wedding party itself there appeared to be a catered menu from the hotel itself and a drinks menu. The food was more of a tapas style tabletop thing and the waitresses would bring more and work the room. Quite efficient and very tasty. Seem to be a variety of cocktails that were constantly being refreshed also by the waitresses and they kept the pace going pretty well. Definitely would recommend having an event here as is curated pretty well. Parking wasn't a problem because there was some parking garages around the way and also space available across the street and down the block. read more

This spot has amazing views in a fun, hip neighborhood. The gentleman who opened the front door graciously greeted us. "Bex" at the front desk was equally gracious and warm. We took a separate elevator to the "rooftop" bar, which is technically a mezzanine, in the interest of full disclosure. The waitress service outside was poor. We had to flag her down, never got a napkin, the drink I ordered, "The Chihuahua," tequila and grapefruit with a salted room, was served so warm the ice was completely melted halfway through finishing it. We had a Friday wedding in July 2021. A rather small wedding of 80+ Get your popcorn: Neither Tori or Abijah informed us that CONSTRUCTION will be taking place in, on, and around, an otherwise beautiful location. Abijah's response... was to have our wedding pictures in their restaurant during lunch service. An expensive photographer got to choose between - under a scaffolding with construction crew, or a banquette by the door to the kitchen. Strike 1. During our wedding, they never closed the kitchen to outside guests and they got slammed with customers- causing our food to come out an hour late to our guests! (I highly suggest having a person coordinating with the kitchen OTHER THAN a hotel employee. This obviously messed up the timing of DJ, cake cutting, and end time. Should a $$$ wedding held at the hotel, with a specific dinner-time be somewhat of a priority? Strike 2. Our Dj (on their preferred vendor list as Generation Events) was clueless as to what, when, and how he was to perform because Tori never connected with him. In fact, Tori, who worked with us for almost TWO YEARS was absent and completely unresponsive once the wedding day began. I understand they want the married couple to have an event coordinator of their own.... But why leave absolutely everything in the hands of a person that doesn't represent the Hotel?? Where they supposed to be in the kitchen asking your chef what's talking so long?? Neither Tori, or Abijah have checked on anything. Strike 3. The tipping point- when they took 2 months to deposit our final payment- causing all kinds of fraud issues and alerts with my bank. How does this all even happen?!? Congratulations to all those below giving 5stars. Maybe our wedding day was just an off-day for them. Maybe they treat Saturday weddings better? We had a pretty bad experience - would not recommend staying here or renting a suite. Was blatantly lied to by multiple different employees which shows to me thats what they are trained to do. Was treated very poorly. Never informed of major construction. Tried to sneak switching our rooms under the guise of an upgrade. View of a random stairway, scaffolding and directly across from a rooftop bar - people from the rooftop could easily see into my room, and the bar was occupied all day - meaning i could not take advantage of my view (not that it was much) or the sunshine during the day. No privacy at all. 2. No carpets, no robes/minimal towels, thin walls. Stained comforter. 3. There is no moment of quiet in this hotel. All I heard was loud, bumping music that lasted through the night - music with a bumping percussion that shook my bed. Couldn't even watch TV comfortably because the music drowned out the sound. Mind you, this was not the evening, we're talking about live bands at 11:30 at night. 4. In this contemporary retelling I played the prophet, my Brooklyn Yelp Fam the Israelites and Pharaoh was portrayed by the doorman of the Wythe Hotel aka Michael Stipe on roids. Pharaoh Stipe, "How many in your party?" Rony Moses, "43." Pharaoh Stipe, "I'm sorry but y'all are too inebriated and we have the comfort of our guests to think of." Then daintily waved me away with his heavily muscled hand. My fists started automatically tensing like I was squeezing oranges. NO ONE waves their hands like that in front of my face unless they're full of money and I'm onstage in a g-string. I kept a cool head and tried to explain that we had just left an event and there was some excitement in the queue but surely everyone would settle down once inside. All of the sudden a man who resembled Cinqué, from the movie Amistad, both in size and intensity stepped between us. Dressed from head-to-toe in linen including a fedora like he was heading to a beach wedding, he spoke in a bassy but gentle voice. He explained that it was crowded on the rooftop but he would try to accommodate us in small bursts, possibly a 20-30 minute wait to get everyone in. Well that wasn't going to work because like the Army Rangers, no Yelper gets left behind. Juiced-up Michael Stipe took that as his cue to point out who wasn't getting in for arbitrary reasons like "too loud, too drunk, too much denim..." I'd had enough; this wasn't the Metropolitan Club on the Upper East Side... We were across the street from a garage full of junked cars and next to a warehouse tattooed with graffiti. I announced that we were leaving...hopefully somewhere that welcomes good vibes and money. I asked the bouncer if I could retrieve my drunk, loud, Canadian tuxedo wearing friends that were already inside and he curtly nodded. It wasn't even bumpin' upstairs, a few pods of tourists admiring the skyline and sipping Negronis. This and any other hotel has the right to refuse service to anyone it wishes but I expect it to be done courteously and with an air of professionalism. I will say this about The Ides, though - the "rooftop" bar is not at the rooftop (I think there's a terrace, but it's not open (nor should it be) in February). If only the bar were at the rooftop, then my sleep would have been better. I'm not sure if the overnight noise was connected with the bar, but we were woken up by what sounded like heavy transport dollys rolling above our heads. Not okay. Nor was the too-audible bass from the club. Work on that soundproofing, guys. We stayed in a Manhattan view king, with pretty impressive views of Manhattan. This was no "partial view" room. We also enjoyed the heated floors, and rainfall showerhead in the bathroom. Note that there was a one-way mirror into the shower from the bedroom, which we thought was strange, if not a bit kinky. Hey, whatever. The pricing for the morning coffee and minibar were actually sane. Had I not had a drink @ The Ides, I might have hit that minibar. Equally sane was the TV in the room. I hate hotels that are SO trendy that they don't bother with a TV in the room. We didn't actually watch the TV, but I like having the option. The bed was firm but comfortable - I don't like a super-soft bed. We had two pillows per person (not always a given), with plenty of nice, fresh linens. Overall a nice stay, I'd go again. We got a room at the Wythe because it's brand new, has a good restaurant and was very conveniently located for an event we were attending in brooklyn. Prices were reasonable given the size of rooms and potential views of the neighborhood. We stayed on the brooklyn side of the building, in a queen sized room. The bed was very nice with some of the best & most comfortable pillows I've ever laid my head on. The AC was mighty powerful, and the bathroom was elegant and giant. The view? Eh.. nothing to write home about. Our room over looked the entrance to the brooklyn bowl and I'm thinking if I ever stay here again, I'll try for a room with a view of manhattan. The space was raw and modern, with new everything (heck it's only been open a month!) Custom funky art wallpaper, ipod docks everywhere, and rough old wood ceilings with crumbling mixed brick walls. The walls were one of my small pet peeves about the room. The beautifully clean and smooth concrete floors were covered with brick & plaster dust falling off the walls. Walking around barefoot meant your feet were going to get dirty. I would think it would have made sense for them to have sealed the brick walls, but they didn't. As mentioned in my review of the restaurant, we were disappointed to find out the restaurant & hotel offered zero room service. The restaurant is one of the reasons we chose the Wythe. Also, for not offering room service, you would hope they would have offered some snacks and drinks in the room. Other than two bottles of water, there was nothing else available. The bar on the sixth floor was VERY nice, with a terrific view and breezes. The bartenders seemed to know what they were doing, but also seemed a bit slow to pour. The place was very busy both nights we went upstairs, and both nights I was unimpressed with how long I seemed invisible to them. That said, I really enjoyed their "chihuahua" served with tequila, grapefruit juice and salt. I had a lot of them. Very tasty. The hotel had some sort of weird 1/2 drunk girl floating around upstairs and downstairs just kind of bumping off everyone. She was there both nights, clearly staff and also clearly 3 sheets to the wind. Not really sure what her role was, but she kept bumping into me and saying things like "ooooooooooh, you're a guest?" and then just fluttering away. In addition to the bar upstairs, there is one on the first floor in the front of the restaurant. Their hours are my only other complaint about this otherwise swanky hotel. We rolled in at 1:15am, hoping to grab a night cap. It took the bartender 15 minutes to come up to us, as he was focusing on a group of friends at the other end of the bar. He tells us they stop serving at 1:30 which seemed odd for a friday night. When we got to the room, I checked the hotel guide book and it clearly states they serve till 2. It's a new hotel, that's settling in. I'm sure if we visit again it will be a more smooth time, but I really think they need some more training for the staff. I rarely go to Brooklyn, but decided to since one of my friends was out there partying. I will have to say, compared to the rooftops in Manhattan...it was by far the best when it comes to not having to deal with pretentiousness. Did have any problems getting up to the rooftop and saw people in anything from dress clothes to shorts and t-shirts. Crowd was fun and the atmosphere was great. Views were pretty good as well. I wish I could give this place less stars but the only reason I gave it 3 stars is because of the amazing views of Brooklyn and Manhattan's. The bar has a great lay out that with glass all the way around so you do not miss any bit of the Manhattan skyline. Downstairs you are greeted by friendly bouncer who cheeks your ID then inside you are met by a concierge who escorts you to the elevator that takes you up to the bar. Bartenders are attentive and helpful and even help you identify a few buildings. Three stars because of the prices really expensive like some people have mentioned you pay about $18-19 dollars for a cocktail which is really uncalled for. The outside patio are could be decorated a whole lot better instead of metal tables and chairs. With such great views patrons should be able to relax and Enjoy them they just might spend more! read more

I spent 4 nights here post Thanksgiving. Arrived Sunday. It's quiet during the week at this time of year. Pluses: the overall decor is a harmonious post industrial chic and continues nicely into the large (by NY standards) bedrooms. The staff are low key but very friendly when they see you a couple of times. One nice touch in the bedrooms is integrated ceiling speakers that allow you to play music from your device. The location is 5-6 blocks north of the core WB shopping and dining and I like that. The beds are super comfortable. There's a Citibike stand right outside. Caveats: the upstairs bar is always slammed on Fridays and Saturdays (I've been many times for the view). The bedrooms don't have desks and the little tables are not always near power outlets so it's tough to work for long. The water in the bathrooms is not quite hot enough. The food is pretty drab and I find the coffee weak so I wouldn't eat in, even for breakfast. Overall, it's a great base for WB and only 25 mins to Union Sq on the L or by bike over the bridge. Because of my growing frustration over their insulting rationale and poor logic towards what could have been a life threatening situation, I said, "Thank you. Talk to you soon" and hung up. Her reasoning was way off considering that earlier in the call she had stated that things were "out of place" according to FDNY, and on top of it had no evidence to prove that such a thing was said by an FDNY official, and most likely said so just to be dismissive. On my end, I have witnesses, including the groom's Mother and an employee who had smelled burning hair, and I have hard empirical evidence of the damage that was done and documentation of the costs I've been burdened with due to Wythe Hotel's incompetencies in the realms of hospitality and safety of patrons. By "talk to you soon", I meant publicly shame the management of the Wythe Hotel, and alert the public to avoid this establishment, as it is obvious that they do not give a damn about the health and safety of their patrons, and perceive them as temporary burdens that provide monetary gains. So that's what this is all about. If you wish to be in the hands of those who could care less about your comfort and safety, then Wythe Hotel is for you. I really didn't think this existed because Williamsburg is quite leveled off. He says I'll love it because it suits my classy, no B.S. style & my love of lounges. But it's a bar. But I trust his judgment. We go and I LOVE it. Who would have thought one of the most gorgeous rooftop views of NYC would be seen from BK. Oh. Mah. Gah. You can be casual or dressed up here. An OK, but expensive hotel that is more focused on hipness than on customer service. Pros: * Great location in Williamsburg * Awesome views of Manhattan from some rooms * Hipster Cons: Just about everything else... The staff in the lobby & restaurant regularly seemed to just hangin' out chatting. We felt that we were an intrusion on their conversations. No one reached out to welcome us, or help us with our luggage, at the front desk, or the entry to the restaurant. Repeatedly forgotten by doorman (same two guys) over our three-day stay. The place is made to look like a NY Loft, which is cool. But, felt that it was done for effect vs. practicality. The mattress was like futon, and too firm for us. The floors and walls are all hard surfaced, and it tends to echo if you drop something or even close the bathroom door. Our shower had a hip see-thru window into the bedroom area. So you could shower and still get the view, but it also allowed a bunch of light into the bedroom area while my wife was trying to sleep. Lights above the sink had a nice hip glow, but had serious shadows when attempting to shave. We did not actually visit the rooftop bar, but we could hear the noise and music from it every night. For $400+/night and expensive cab rides into Manhattan, it was not a good value. (FYI - compare this review to the wonderful experience we had at the Bryant Park Hotel in Manhattan.) read more

Fancy Hotel;Fancy Rooftop Bar in NYC. My clique was literally walking around looking for a rooftop bar one of the crew had heard of. We saw a line and figured that must be it so we got in it. It was wrapped around the building but we got up to the top in about 20-30 on a Saturday afternoon. The view was worth it. It's a pretty awesome view at the top. You can sit outside or in depending on the weather. The view was great, and the drinks were good ($10-15 craft cocktails), but the bartender was a huge @$$. I don't think I've ever had a bartender with a worse attitude. This dude needs to gtfo of the customer service industry. He took forever, didn't respond with words, and emitted eternal frustration and bitterness. Apart from that...great view, a bit crowded, decent drinks at fair prices. read more

Review is for the Rooftop Bar - where on a random weekday evening, a line had formed downstairs for entry. I honestly can't believe I had to wait for a bar in WB. (minus one star) The rooftop was nice, given the views (even if largely of Brooklyn and Qns), the space was plentiful, and the drink prices were on the low side for a boutique hotel rooftop bar. I like this roof top bar , there is no pretense from the crowd that goes there at all and its a great way to get away from the craziness of Williamsburg . I remember this area when it used to be all warehouses and no street lights but trip up nostalgia lane . The best thing is you can either sit in the sun and mingle or get a table in the shade and chill . DJ is amazing , he plays a very chilled set in the afternoon setting the mood perfectly . My only gripe is the cider , please don't just offer a fancy smancy British cider at 13 bucks a pop , get some Magners for those hot summers day .
