4:15 arrival just after 4pm open. Place empty. Greeted by bartender " no sushi, no oysters, no prime rib". No attempt at conversation. Sad beer selection - no IPA. The margarita was acceptable. While visiting a friend she suggested this restaurant. Her dentist actually owns it! Our waiter was friendly and knowledgeable. Menu is varied and fun with an Asian influence. My hubs ordered a smash burger which he enjoyed but said he should have gotten the double as the single was quite thin. My friend and I had the lettuce wrap dish. I absolutely love this restaurant! A sweet little gem in rural Maine and worth the drive from Portland. Stop at the Snow Fall Gorge, make a reservation at the X Vault, and enjoy your day! The place is small and dark. The prices were pretty good but the portions turned out to be small. Sushi is not available on Tuesdays. The tuna appetizer was scrumptious but mostly air. The beet salad was nice but really not enough beets to fill a person. The smell of the tallow-fried pretzels was off-putting to some. There was very little pulled-pork on the flatbread special. The chicken katsu seemed like an ordinary breaded chicken cutlet + an overwhelming sweet bbq sauce (I did not try the rice). The brussel sprouts were sticky-sweet without nuance. The pesto gnocchi was comforting and filling but easily made at home. The waiter was friendly and brought extra water. We did have to ask for knives and extra napkins, but these came quickly. The overall feeling was that this is not a restaurant, but a hangout for drinks and snacks. Fair enough. It IS a pub and it was like a pub. read more

Brand new server (Jeran) and she rocks! Great smile and constant motion. Korean fried ribs listed as an app but plenty for an entree. Nice spice that lingers on your lips. The cheese bacon tots are also enough for a meal. Super list of beers, both draft and bottle and a super imaginative full bar and cocktails. Fun dinner spot, with friendly staff and an interesting menu. The website says they're 'Vietnamese inspired' but I didn't get that too strongly from the food we tried. They had a good variety of options - everything from ramen to sushi to burgers and sandwiches. Everything we tried was good, but nothing really impressed me. The cocktails were hit or miss (my pear margarita tasted nothing like pear, more like apple cinnamon) and they took a while to get to us even though they're respecting the social distancing rules for COVID so the place was only half full. Overall X Vault is a fun place to stop by but I'm not sure I'll be back any time soon. read more

Very eclectic menu with a mix of pub food / appetizers, though with an Asian focus...and American and Italian, etc. The kimchi tacos - three per order - were spicy (7/10) from both the kimchi and sriracha mayo sauce. I liked that the filling on each taco was plentiful - plenty of tender meat and cabbage for crunch. A friend ordered the lemon pasta, which is offered on the menu with chicken, but the chef accommodated his request for shrimp. Another friend enjoyed the kimchi fried rice with chicken. The burger received less rave reviews as the patties were well done and a little dry, but the natural cut fries were good. Friendly service, good beer selection, lots of televisions and a pleasant atmosphere. read more

So we went to this restaurant pre- shutdown and then again last night. Our waitress was really nice and attentive. But, I was very disappointed this time around. Never have I seen a restaurant Completely change their menu and style of food without changing their name or having new ownership. Before it was hearty, unique meals (like pot roast) and now they apparently are "asian fushion". What?! In addition, their drinks are half the size but not half the price. When you get a craft beer you naturally expect a pint, especially since their name says Pub, not a skinny little half? pint glass. All total for a few drinks, chicken something, and a half korean ribs it was a $95 night which is really ridiculous. It's unfortunate. We won't be back. read more

-Well executed sushi and one of the best flatbreads (the special) I have had in years. -Outside seating is in a cute space with nice tables and decor. -Very well executed drinks, a bit small for the price, but prefer well executed than a big glass of badly mixed cocktails. Would suggest a bit less ice as the glassware was well selected but it was overly iced. -Super friendly server, attentive enough, not invasive. -Ramen bowl was great! -Shrimp ramen bowl was a stretch to call ramen. The menu says "broth" but it was sauce on the noodles, no broth. -Would have given 5 stars but we had chicken on kimchi fried rice that was clearly pre-cooked and at room temperature but also not properly cooked as it was gummy in the middle. My wife and I stopped by the X Vault for an early dinner on the recommendation of our son and we were not disappointed. My wife ordered the Caprese Sandwich and I ordered a Buffalo Chicken Wing appetizer and a cheese burger for my meal. All food came out hot and delicious. The wings were excellent and nicely spiced with a crispy crunch. I only ordered a 1st level and I am glad I did.my wife's sandwich was toasted perfectly with just the right amount of mozzarella cheese and pesto sauce. Best place I've been to in a long time! My boyfriend & I we're all over the board on the food & drinks because everything was so good. We started with chili & California rolls the had. Truffle fries & the fish tacos which were on special. We had the best bar tender Sean. He was funny & made a mean drink! His jalapeño pineapple margarita was the best I've ever had! This comment is based on only 1 hour at the bar. I drank two Blue Moons. The 4 stars is for what seems to be great but haven't tried. The lack of star is for the experience of sitting at the bar itself. It's awkward. Not mentally but physically. The back of the bar stools are so thin they're sharp so leaning back into them is awful on the back. The foot rests are too low so you practically slouch out of the chair unless you rest your feet on the stools like you're riding a Kawasaki. The foot rests at the foot of the bar need to be higher and the chairs more comfortable. I love sitting at bars but this was so uncomfortable I had to leave before I had my fill. Honestly though while this review may seem negative all else seems great as most people have made clear, it's just that Helgas House Of Pain Bar that needs to be rethought. read more

I'm glad I was able to come to X Vault Pub & Provisions. The menu was interesting. The combination of some of the menu is Vietnamese and the other half being burgers and sandwiches. The food was tasty but it was hard to pair it with drinks because of the variety. Ramen, sushi, or burgers are hard to put together since the menu is so different. The restaurant was kind of slow to get food out as well but the sushi did taste fresh. read more
