I went into this show not knowing what to expect. I left feeling like it should have been at a larger venue. Xavier Mortimer's Magical Dream was a very extraordinary magical phenomenon. Some of the tricks defy logic and really make you question just how that was even possible. The show was funny and had a lot of memorable moments that apply to a vast demographic for many ages including children. The Magician and his beautiful assistant were incredible in their performance and didn't break from character. They both had a good chemistry on stage together that really made the performance work well and please the crowd. Overall I would recommend seeing this show while your in Vegas. I left pleased and satisfied when it was over and it really made me believe in magic again. Great Job Guys, You deserve this rating! read more

What a crazy fun show! Ive seen more magic shows than I can count and Xavier is up there with the quick fire tricks of Tommy Wind minus the odd banter, the slight of hand of Penn and Teller and makes things disappear and reappear better than David Copperfield. He also has the charm and approachability of Jan Rouven. It was well produced and you can tell he comes from a Cirque background which he really put to good use. This was a big disappointment. We paid extra for VIP seating and were 2nd row center. I was with three kids - ages 13, 11 and 7 - and there was nothing that impressed any of us. The theater itself is tucked back in the hotel, sits only about 100 people (don't get suckered into paying more for good seats like we did), and the stage has a painted plywood floor that I could make in my spare time and overall set design was very simple and amateurish. What magic there was consisted mainly of things you'd expect to see 30 years ago (slight of hand tricks, the "guess a number--see, it's the same number I have written here", and so on). Like some other reviewers, we could see strings and wires used for many of the tricks. I wouldn't be disappointed if I saw this in, say, the lounge of a Holiday Inn in Des Moines, but as a "big" act in a major Strip Hotel --- well, let's just say it's a big letdown. We saw a number of shows: Terry Fator, Ka, Legends in Concert, Recycled Percussion, Popovich Pet Comedy and Evil Dead the Musical; Xavier Mortimer was by far the most disappointing, and I would never recommend it. I, too, think that the 4-5 star reviews are not legitimate. read more

It was a small venue, perfect for magicians. The show lasted 70 minutes or so, perfect for kids. Kid friendly and they enjoyed it immensely.

I bought tickets to the show based on the positive reviews. After seeing the show I would agree with the 1 and 2 star reviews and now believes that the 4 and 5 star reviews are fake reviews. Most the the "magic" tricks are either unimpressive or mundane, or I was able to see through the tricks, especially we were seated at the edge of the theater. Never before was I able to see through the tricks of a magic show so easily. The other elements of the show I was yawning most of the time. The part he was doing that you top spinning trick Xavier actually dropped the top once but twice. I was especially upset after reading that others were paying $25 for the show, which might be ok. I paid $38 through tix4tonight. To conclude, I believe that only the 1 or 2 star reviews are genuine and reflects the show accurately. read more

We just got home from this show and I had to jump on to write a review asap, which is rare for me. I had searched through so many magic show options that would be entertaining for me and my 7 year old son. We only visit my family in Vegas once a year so I try to find something great. I'm so glad I found Xavier Mortimer's Magical Dream! This show blew us away!! Between the creativity, magic, humor, energy, fun and showmanship, it is hands down our favorite show in Vegas. My daughter brought me to vegas for my birthday. This is my first visit to vegas and we went to see this magic show. And I am still waiting to see a magic show. They had us turn off cell phones because they did not want anyone recording. They had nothing to worry about I just wanted to check the time to see how much longer this "magic show" would last. This show was fun, cute and a great way to entertain the family. I went with my husband and three sons aged 11, 7 and 3. We were celebrating my 7 (soon to be 8) year olds birthday. They were thoroughly entertained. I thought the show was a bit cheesy, but not so much so that I couldn't also enjoy it. I'm giving it 4 stars based on the entertainment value for a family with young children. The theater was small and intimate, Xavier is very likable and worked extremely hard to entertain, my little guy just about fell in love with "Bella" and they were all amazed by the tricks- big and small. My oldest also got to participate in one of the tricks that I would normally have thought an "insider" would have done, and I'm still trying to figure it out. If you are looking for a mind blowing, special effect type show this is not it, but if you want some entertaining, innocent fun for a family this is a good choice. read more

I was thoroughly unimpressed with the venue and show. First, about the venue and seating. We arrived 30 minutes before the show started and were already near the end of a long line for general admission (GA). They seated us almost directly behind a large pillar that is in the middle of the venue for GA seating. We asked if we could move and the person that seated us said yes. In fact, several people moved just like us for the same reason...then when he seated more people, he asked people that moved to move back. When they declined he got upset and seated the new people in their seats. There are side rows on each side of the venue that you aren't supposed to sit in (well they sat people in them anyways). We were very close to them and the reason you're not supposed to sit there is you see all of the slide of hand moves from them. Regarding the show. If you're not seated near the center and have ever been to a magic shop, you'll see the slide of hand tricks fairly easily. My friend and I could see Xavier slipping things in and out of his jacket throughout the show for his basic tricks. He used animation and videos for his light trick...which made the magic even less inspiring. We could also see people handing him things from behind the backdrop from where we were seated (some ill-timed). He did a Cirque De Soil type of act where he kept messing up (at least 5x). To be honest, I only really saw him complete a few of tricks that were up-to-par with what I would expect at a Las Vegas magic show...the rest of was not what I would consider magic at all. I think this show would be okay for a 5 year old, but anybody who has seen magic before will not be impressed. I paid $25 per ticket on Groupon and I still feel like I overpaid. Save your money and see something else. read more

When I asked my kids what was the best part of their spring vacation, they said it was visiting the Grand Canyon and watching Xavier Mortimer's show. Xavier is funny, creative and mind boggling too. This was a spectacular show. An intimate venue so I was within a few feet of Xavier but I still couldn't tell how he could possibly manage his magic tricks. Stupefying and absolutely marvelous. My 7-year old had the answer -- "It's CGI!" Yes, well, CGI is one thing in a movie but a few feet before your eyes ... well, it was just spectacular. It's a wholesome show, as well. If you're looking for a show filled with entertainment, comedy, and illusions in a cozy, intimate setting, then this is one! Xavier Mortimer is quite talented and personable. He makes the audience feel very comfortable as they enjoy his cunning tricks. He even gets some audience members directly involved in the performance. I myself had the pleasure of participating in one of his tricks, and I still cannot wrap my mind around how he pulled it off! And a bonus after the show, he makes himself available to meet and take pictures! For people thinking about the show, do not overhype the show. It isn't a big Cirque de Soleil show--it's a personal, more intimate setting. What a wonderful show in a personal venue. His enthusiasm and drive while performing magic in order to leave the fans in awe was the best part of the show. What is also very impressive is that he scripted and designed the whole thing. I was also pleasantly surprised when he showed a trick that involved my name (Sky) on it. (I don't want to spoil any tricks.) This show was alright. Maybe I was expecting too much, but it was slightly boring as for the tricks. The story line was cute and Xavier seems very humorous and friendly, but the show was not impressive. I think this is more of a show for kids. For most of the tricks, you could see how he was doing it. He uses lights and a projector for a good amount of the show as well which was not what I expected from a magic show. You could also see him pulling and putting things in and out of his jacket from certain angles. If you're not into music and people dancing all the time in a show, this one is not for you.. a lot of the time I kept catching myself confused as to why they would put a certain part into the show lol. There was a couple cool tricks, but nothing fascinating. The seating is also terrible in a very small venue which is why I rated down an extra star, leaving this review at two stars. It was about 40 minutes or so, and I don't think it was worth the price, even after getting a discount. read more

OK, I admit it -- I'm a bit of a magic junkie. I have seen pretty much every magic show available in Las Vegas, including David Copperfield (twice), Penn & Teller (twice), Mat Franco (from America's got Talent), Nathan Burton, Matt King, Piff the Magic Dragon (also AGT), Tommy Wind, and tens of additional shows that are no longer playing. I can say without a doubt that Xavier Mortimer's Magical Dream is absolutely the best show currently playing in Vegas, and after about three decades of obsessive magic watching, it's my second all-time favorite Las Vegas Magic Show (World Champion Lance Burton in the 80's and 90's is #1). Whereas most other magic shows are about the tricks, Xavier Mortimer's storytelling ability elevates the show to a spectacle, where you can't take your eyes off a single moment: every instant is fantastical and unbelievable, whether there is magic involved or not. Far more than just a magician, this ex- Cirque de Soleil performer is a musician (he composed much of the music in the show himself, and can play a broad assortment instruments, such as when he plays the clarinet while magical spinning head over foot), a talented mime-like actor, an acrobat, a juggler, an inventor (I think all of the magic in the show is purely original, of his own creation -- none of the other big-named magicians above can say the same). The show is funny, at times sexy (but not so much that you can't bring kids), and it all holds together in a beautiful fairy-tale story that unfolds before your disbelieving eyes. The only thing that I would change about the show is that I would hold it in a theater about 5-10 times larger. It's great to be in such an intimate space with the performer, but you are almost too close at times -- I literally feared for my head as a dancing broom was flying about, as my legs were literally extended UNDER the stage, I was that close. I watched Xavier's show the other night at Planet Hollywood and was GREATLY entertained. His magic was spot on and something I have never seen before.
