Xcaret does not take accountability when mistakes are made for DoorDash orders. I ordered lunch from here and usually the fajitas come with a side of flour tortillas. There were none with my order. I called the restaurant and was just told to "take it up with DoorDash because the restaurant doesn't have delivery drivers." Poor answer. But they still got my money though right? First time trying this place, will not order again. Luckily mama taught me right and I'll just roll out my own tortillas. As for the food, the fajitas were okay. Rice is decent. The beans COME STRAIGHT FROM A CAN! You can taste it. Guacamole is pretty good though, I'll give the mfs that. Crap, crap and double crap. The only good thing here is the beer and that is because it is bottled and they can't mess it up. Over priced, cheap ingredients, skimpy on the meat which actually may be a good thing since they are most likely using the cheapest low grade meat they can get their hands on. This place is just sad, it works for them because they are the only Mexican Restaurant in town. I would almost be willing to help fund a competitor just so that the local people can actually taste good Mexican food. I have been here 3 times each time was worse then the last. The owner/s are either ignorant to the business or cheap. The only nice thing about this place is the waitstaff. They are nice and I feel sorry they have to work in this shit hole. People tend to write reviews of things they don't like more often, myself included. Not only is Xcaret note worthy, it's woven into the fabric of this small community. Tonight I order food for 4 online for pick up. Ordering online was easy. Pick up was smooth. There was a dinner rush happening when I got there but was still greeted and treated well. California burrito was amazing and generously portioned with fresh bright green guacamole salad. Everything made it home still warm and fresh, they even packed chips and salsa. Street tacos looked delicious too. I'm looking forward to eating here again soon. Thank you for all that you add to our community. read more

Heard commercials on the radio about how good it was and decided to go there before a night out with friends. Went in and got seated right away but it took almost 30 mins even to get drinks. Had a strawberry margarita and it was more syrup than margarita. So sugary, it was on the outside of the glass and my hand was sticky. Ordered dinner and it came quickly. I ordered a simple quesadilla with NO lettuce or Pico. There was lettuce stuck to my tortilla and UNDER my rice. Not impressed with the quality of food, drinks or service at all, especially for the price. 1/10 would not recommend. ​ read more

This place is fantastic. The wait staff are as nice as could be and the food is phenomenal...for a Mexican restaurant in Tiffin, OH. I've read reviews that say the service is terrible and that people have had to wait 15 minutes for drinks or what have you, but I assure you, this is a rarity. The only thing I can really say in defense of Xcaret is that it's not a sit-n-go restaurant (which is actually one of the nice things). We have become accustomed, as Americans, to expect everything to be as fast as Taco Bell when it comes to food. This isn't a place where you can be in and out in half an hour...it takes time to cook the food people. The food is delicious and their margarita specials and definitely worth it. I have been to lots of Mexican restaurants in lots of towns but so far this place takes the cake. I order take out so this reveiew pertains mainly to that. The layout of the restaurant is confusing. There are two entrances and no obvious pick up counter. The place was packed, tables and chairs in sloppy aisles and it was difficult to navigate my way all the way back to the server station by the busy busy kitchen door. I asked for my order (one taco salad, 6 chicken tacos a la carte, chips, salsa and cheese dip). They had quoted me a 30 minute wait time over the phone so I didn't leave until 30 minutes after I ordered and still my order wasn't ready. I waited in an awkward spot where I seemed to be in everyone's way. My order came to $40. Apparently the tacos were $4 a piece. I thought "my god, these better be the best chicken tacos ever." That price is outrageous for this town. Prices in nearby bigger cities are cheaper than that. Got the order back home and the tacos were more than disappointing. They were hard shells just like you would buy in a grocery store! And they were beef! Not only can they not use authentic tortillas to wrap their tacos but they can't even take an order right! The taco salad was par for the course. The house salsa is bland and the chips were very few for and $8 charge. The cheese dip was tasty although cold and had a hair in it and that pretty much put me of my feed for the night. I would not ever go back. There are better Mexican restaurant options nearby that are far better quality and price. It would be worth the drive. read more

Horrible meal experience! When she brought chips and salsa i asked for hot sauce, she took the drink order, still no hot sauce. HALF the drinks are out, she takes the food order, still no hot sauce after asking several times. Brings rest of drinks and no hot sauce. Then, she brings the hot sauce and we're out of chips...asked for more...got none. The hot sauce is their homemade super hot sludge that was mostly red pepper flakes. The food came out for two people, 10 minutes later, the food came out for almost everybody else. 4 to 5 minutes later the last of the food came out. Others were done eating already. The food was awful. The bill was steep. The service was the worst I've seen in years. read more

They were having a fundraiser that we did not know about so there were many people coming and going but the staff was happy, friendly and helpful! I work in food service for 35 yrs so far. Food was good. We ordered a table for 3 and host sat us only brought 2 menus. Witnessed a server place a beer mug on table. Almost 15 min went by before someone picked it up. Was sat at a table that was very wet. Server was very polite though. Needs a menu revise. read more

Would say the last two times we went to the restaurant ended in the same results, service was tearable. Food was over cooked and some was even cold. Never should a waiter tell you he works for tips and he'd hate to lose the tip money. Good service is what gets you good tips. As Mexican restaurants go Xcaret is so so. My Chili Relleno was disappointing. The sauce was good but that was about it. My wife's chicken quesadilla was bland. Mexican food is all about the seasoning, someone forgot that with her chicken. She order a margarita, it came with salt on half the rim and hot pepper flakes on the other half. My wife hates hot peppers. Why would you put that on a margarita? Yuk! I like spicy and wouldn't like that. Needless to say we won't be back. read more

This place is "ass backwards" to say the least, it took over 10 minutes to even be greeted. Sadly it didn't end there.. I had a pick up order, they gave me beef instead of chicken and a salad w guacamole instead of my beans and rice it clearly states on the menu. I'm really surprised to see these negative reviews. Xcaret is one of my go-to places when in Tiffin. I've eaten here too many times to count and never had a bad experience with the food, service or wait time. In fact, the wait has always seemed shorter than most places. I highly recommend the fajitas which are brought to your table sizzling hot, so much so that the steam obscures the server's face, and the onions and peppers are scrumptiously caramelized. This restaurant had previously been a local family favorite of ours for years. We were extremely dissapointed with our most recent visit today. The waitress could not answer any of our questions. We ordered our usual queso, which is $3.49. However, unlike the hundred other times we have ordered an appetizer of queso, today it came out in the smallest dish we have ever experienced. It certainly was not enough for even a single person. We ordered a quesadilla,and it came out uncut. Rather it was like a huge soft tortilla taco. We also ordered a nachos supreme, which came out nothing like it was explained. We were so dissapointed in the food, drinks, and service. This had been a family favorite for years. So sad. We should have guessed sonething had changed....as the restaurant was almost barren on a Friday evening. read more

Xcaret is my favorite restaurant. I always get the "Burrito Real" which is by far the BEST burrito ever. I'm also a huge fan of their salsa and deep-fried Ice cream. I always fill up on chips before I get my food. Anyway, generous portion sizes, and a welcoming, friendly staff. read more

The staff is typically very nice. We've had a few issues with miscommunication for orders, especially drinks that aren't margaritas. The food is typical of a Mexican restaurant. This might be one of my favorite places to eat in Tiffin. I normally order the shrimp fajita taco salad or the taquitos... both are amazing! Service is great, and fast and prices are good as well. This has to be the most horrible Mexican food I've ever had. The Fajitas were full of gristle and the entire meal was bad. I began going there ten years ago and the food was decent then. Each time I went after that the food only got worse and worse. The last meal I had there was a beef & bean burrito in which the ground beef was so watered down and scorched it was more like what I'd feed my dog. I can only guess that the reason they're still in business is because they serve liquor. If Taco Bell is something you consider real Mexican food then Xcaret my be to your liking, otherwise don't bother. read more

I am also from Texas and I understand Mexican food and its not all of those chain restaurants in Austin that serve what we in Greater Texas call "Tex-Mex" I think Xcaret is good, authentic mexican food. I enjoy this restaurant. I am only reviewing their bean burrito beans preparation process because I am passionate about a good bean burrito. Friday night the beans in my two large bean burritos were grayish in color, runny like pancake batter, no texture, not a good bean taste. Terrible. Told by cashier restaurant changed "blending" process. PLEASE return to a true Mexican bean burrito one can find anywhere south of the boarder, one with chewy bean paste inside, one with great flavor. read more
