I don't like posting negative reviews but I was very disappointed. I visited from out of town at the recommendation of a hotel concierge. The staff is friendly and helpful. Unfortunately it was a very below average massage with a steep price. I asked for a deep tissue massage when setting up my appointment and on my intake form however I received a light Swedish massage. During the massage I repeatedly asked for more pressure. I do think the masseuse was doing his best and maybe deep tissue wasn't his forte. I still left a tip but needed to rebook a massage the next day at Spa Natur which was Ah-mazing!!!! I found Spa Natur on Yelp and so glad I did . The facility,rooms and bathrooms at Xhale are clean. read more

I haven't visited Xhale Salon Spa; however, I had an experience with them at the Louisville Visitor's Center Valentine's Pampering Event. Xhale was set up at the event giving chair massages and demos of hand scrubs and bath bombs. I had a chair massage, which started out great and lasted a really long time (in general I feel like chair massages, especially free ones, are 5-15 minutes and done; but this one lasted forever); however, something happened and I became extremely nauseous and had to stop the massage before the end. I'm not sure if the massage therapist hit a nerve or what. It wasn't painful at all, and once we stopped the massage and I stood up I felt almost instantly better. I would definitely get a massage from Xhale, and even the same therapist, again. I think it was just a fluke, and I was actually sad not to get to finish the massage. After the massage I tried the hand scrub demo. I really liked the product! Many of their products are made with bourbon, which is really cool! And I know in the salon they offer a bourbon pedicure as well, which is something I plan to check out soon! After the scrub demo I used some of their body butter, which felt very luxurious. I ended up purchasing two bath bombs, the "Bed of Roses" and "Confetti" scents. I've used the Bed of Roses and it was awesome! It smelled amazing and made the water a beautiful color. I hope to visit Xhale soon. Based on my experience with them at the Valentine's Pampering Event the salon should be a great place to check out! read more

My husband and I booked a couples massage for our 5 year anniversary. We were put in our room right away and the massage lasted the 50 minutes we booked. I feared my husband not enjoying the massage but he did. Overall I would recommend...pricey tho....they charge you for using your credit card and 20% gratuity is added as well. I went for a 80 min massage. My massage "therapist" ended the session at 50 min and never addressed her error with me. Instead, she stood off talking to some other salon workers. It was addressed by the woman working the desk who was competent and professional. The "therapist", and I put that in quotes because she wasn't really a trained massage therapist with knowledge of the body, but rather someone who had had a few hours of instruction (maybe over a weekend at the salon--usually how it's done) and then given permission to give a professional service and charge a high price. The facility itself felt dirty. It probably wasn't but it's an old salon, in an old hotel with old furniture, shabby furniture. My wife who also had a massage had a slightly better experience but we both agreed never to return. I don't like writing negative reviews, but come on, that was terrible. read more

Worst experience. Total scam. My stepdaughter and I did not get no chip (as requested and they stated they were using the powder -- they didn't do either) but they claimed the polish was " top of the line." Didn't even trim my cuticles. Messed up my daughter's toes 3 times. Didn't know what chemicals were even in the bottles. Literally they argued about the acetone in front of us. Polish was chipped in an hour. Called to discuss with Manager but he or she is avoiding me. This place is horrible and extremely expensive. What a scam read more

What a great experience! I was lucky to be referred by the Omni Hotel to Xhale Salon while in town for a wedding. The receptionist, Tiffany was friendly, helpful, and engaging. My hairstylist Sarah was incredible! I didn't know what to To do with my long hair and Sarah created a perfect masterpiece to work with my dress and face. She was friendly, confident, and fast! She went the extra mile to help me find eyelashes for the party and put them on for me. Talk about service and southern hospitality at its best! read more

I paid $55 for a gel manicure that I need to redo. Please look at the pictures so you can judge for yourself. The only reason I did not redo them while there is 1) I did not trust Darcy (that's her name... please do not get your nails done with her) to redo my nails. If she would redo them, what would change? 2) had to catch a flight. My unhappiness was expressed and they still made me pay for my nails. I have no words do to express how I feel about paying for something that clearly was not done correctly. Now I need to have these nails until tomorrow so I can repay for them to get done. Again, please see the pictures. This is unacceptable. The point of doing my nails while out of town is because I do not have time to do them once home. I scheduled a massage for my wife, while we were in town for the weekend. I took a chance since, I'm not familiar with the area. I was relieved that her massage was the best she had ever had. tl;dr - Don't take a group of ladies here, they can't handle it, even if they say they can. Not impressed. I went to Xhale as part of a wedding party this past weekend on Friday morning, that's the only reason they received two stars instead of one. I completely understand we were a very large party and I knew the situation was going to be time-consuming​. There were 11 of us, eight getting both mani-pedis​, 3 getting only manicures, that's going to be a challenge. It is possible that under different circumstances I would have had an okay time. However, the salon did not come close to accurately estimating the amount of time to was going to take to get everyone through with decent looking mani-pedis. It is a small salon, had we known that we wouldn't have scheduled with them, there were only two stations for pedicures and 2 or 3 for manicures. They estimated​ starting at 9 am that all 8 of the mani-pedis would be finished by 11:30 am, so when 11 am rolled around, and only four were finished we were anxious. We did leave by 1 pm; however,​ that also meant the quality of our manicures and pedicures were terrible. My nails looked like I could have painted them myself and if not for their strict 24-hour​ cancelation policy I would have. I don't blame the technicians, they were very nice and maybe would have been better if they weren't rushing. The person who made the appointment, either didn't know how fast their staff could work and give a decent experience​ or didn't care and just wanted our money. I paid $85 (plus a tip on top) for a just a regular​ manicure and pedicure, that was not equivalent​ quality to​ what I would expect for that price. ​ The rest of the staff we interacted with were not polite, likely due to the situation, as they acted​ annoyed that we were in a rush​ when we planned our day around the time they estimated. The salon was clean and didn't smell like chemicals. The cucumber water was pleasant​ and cookies were nice, there are snacks in the bathroom too. They offered champagne too and but in the end,​ I would have​ preferred they just be honest about what they can handle over getting snacks and alcohol. read more

My biggest complaint is the cost. Not so much how much but it should be the same every time you go. I've been twice and had my hair done but was charged different prices for the same service. They don't really seem to have set prices and just wing it. If you didn't live here and was just visiting from out of town you would not know that. I did notice the small sign after checking out the second time regarding a fee for using credit cards. I find this absurd!! I'm not going to carry on me over $170 ( yes the cost of cut and color only). I've NEVER had a spa charge extra for using credit cards. We understand we were 5 minutes late for our appointment due to a wreck on the interstate, which we did call and inform them of. Once we arrived we were told to fill out a paper NO RUSH, but when we ask about adding a scalp treatment we were told no and that our facial would be cut short because we arrived late. We understood we may be holding others up for their service but once we came out of the spa rooms no one was waiting! We did travel 2 hours to this salon, and paid $120 for the facials, expected a little bit more from them. Was not worth that kind of money. I've gone back and forth over writing this review because the front desk staff comped my massage, but given how my "massage" could have resulted in injury...Here we are. I considered faking diarrhea to get out of the massage because I was so uncomfortable. I asked the front desk staff afterward if they were sure my massage therapist was certified, because I have never felt the need to be on guard during a massage. They were surprised I asked, and I'm sure they did their due diligence in the hiring process by asking for proof of licensing (however that is handled) but apparently there are paper mills for massage licenses just like anything else. The lady who "massaged" me was clearly self-taught, all fingernails, didn't know how to loosen up a stiff muscle in my back, spent most of her time on my hands and feet (and I jerked one each time because I sensed she was trying to force my finger or toe to "pop" in a way that would be painful). I also had to ask her not to push on my knee. I've never had a massage therapist try to do anything with my knee! Otherwise, she was sick (had a wet cough that she left the room to deal with 2 of the 3 times, blaming asthma) and translated for the therapist who was working on my husband, as that therapist didn't speak English and couldn't communicate with him about his needs. Neither of them introduced themselves or asked if we had areas we wanted them to focus on. My husband said his massage was okay, but I would have preferred better communication, better training, not wondering if I was taking a cold home to my newborn nephew, not having to question if a joint was going to be injured, and getting that tense back muscle worked on. read more

Today I had a bourbon scrub pedicure, massage, and facial. All of them were wonderful and the staff was so kind. I would definitely recommend It to anyone. From the time I walked in the staff was friendly and inviting. They have wonderful local products that leave your skin feeling amazing. DO NOT GO HERE! CROOKS! On Wednesday evening, May 2, we requested services for a massage, body scrub, manicure, and pedicure. We arrived at the salon at 6:20 and stayed until 10pm, receiving the services requested. The massage was performed on both of us by a manicurist (which is against the law!) and was not a professional massage. As frequent spa patrons in Manhattan, it is obvious when someone performs a massage who is not trained. We both noted that our massage was being done by someone who had not had any training in doing so. At the end of the sessions, we were presented with a bill for $758. We inquired to the owner of the Xhale Salon why the services were so expensive, much more than we pay at high end salons in NYC. The owner told us that the bill reflected "Derby prices." We asked why the prices were not the same as those listed on the website, which I looked up while waiting for my massage. We were told that the price list states that "Prices are subject to change." On the webpage http://www.xhalesalon.com/services.html there is no such statement. When I asked to see a list of the "Derby prices," we were told by the owner that she had them jotted down on a sheet behind her desk. When I asked her to see it, she would not show it to us. Then I held out the Xhale Salon printed price list, and she verbally compared service by service the new "Derby prices" without showing them to us. On our trip home, we discussed how awful it felt to be "taken" by a salon that clearly had no intention of explaining or posting prices, or informing customers of price changes before services were started. At no time until after the services were performed were we told of any price change. To verify the massage service, which was completely inadequate, we inquired as to the license status of the person who performed the massage with the KY Office of Occupations and Professions in Frankfort, KY. As suspected, she is not licensed in the State of Kentucky to perform massage. We are disgusted that a business owner in this profession would use the Kentucky Derby to take advantage of out-of-town guests in this manner. read more

Had an appointment for a 30 minute massage here while I was visiting Louisville. I found the salon to be clean, attractive, and the air was fresh (no chemical salon smell). Everyone was very nice and friendly, we interacted with lots of the staff, no rudeness to be found ;) I did think it was odd that the appointment times I had were not observed punctually and that I had to fill out paperwork and sign a liability waiver. I'm from a small town and no one has ever asked me to do that before at any local salons, but I hear the times, they are a-changin.' I also thought it was a bit of a let down that my masseuse was (I hate to say this) a bit too talkative. She was so nice and nice to talk to, but when I get a massage I really like to be able to savor the experience, and I can't really do that if I'm carrying on a conversation at the same time. Hidden near the top of the Galt House West Tower is a wonderful salon that seems to be lesser known to those not staying at the hotel...which is a shame, because I see nothing but promise in this establishment. Locally owned by a very talented woman, this place has so much to offer both hotel guests and locals. My first experience was quite pleasant. Friendly and accommodating staff greet you right away, and treat you like the valued customer that everyone should be treated...with respect and consideration. My first visit was just for a makeover on the mop I call my hair, but I was impressed from beginning to end. A wonderful hand massage while my mop was being thoroughly washed from the gunk that was the excessive product, dirt, sweat and pollution collected over the past couple of days. That was an excellent touch...when was the last time my hands were massaged while being washed? If I can't remember, that means it has been too long, IMHO. My stylist asked all the right questions, though I made it difficult because I am so indecisive when it comes to change...especially affecting the hair that either makes or breaks my overall sometimes too "metro" look. But, she stuck with it. Trimming away with sheers and blades and every other fine instrument in her arsenal of stylist artillery. I was offered beer and wine multiple times, to which my liver finally woke up and said "gimme, gimme, gimme!!!" In the end, I walked out with a new look that was well received by ladies both young, old and in a coma (I apparently brought one out of one that day). And, I left feeling not like a customer, but an asset...a person who was appreciated, and a winning product of stylist genius. This review will undoubtedly be followed-up upon as I revisit for the many additional services. I'm thinking...when was the last time I had a manicure...or a pedicure...or a massage? I will also be sending some friends and families for a day at the salon, and I can guarantee they will leave with just a great sense of satisfaction. In conclusion, whether you are in town for a short visit, a long stay, or you live here and want to find new talent, this picky SOB who rarely trusts anyone new with his hair suggests you step in, relax, exhale and enjoy some pampering...because something tells me that you deserve it. Definitely recommend! Xhale did my hair and makeup for my wedding day. They also did the hair and make up for six bridesmaids, my mom, and my mother in law - and the hair for my flower girl. They were awesome. I was so concerned leading up to the wedding that with all those ladies, we were going to end up being late. Tiffany worked with me before the wedding to come up with a schedule and reassured me that the schedule gave plenty of time. The day of the wedding, everything was clockwork. I wouldn't recommend this spa at all. The staff is very unprofessional and the prices are high for the service you receive. I had a couples massage here as well as a mani/ pedi. The couples massage was in a cramped room where there were 2 sets of music playing. One was relaxing ocean sounds and the other was horrible bag pipe type music. The masseuse talked for the first 10 mins asking questions...she wouldn't shut up. The lighting was terrible. Overall the ambiance was not relaxing. The mani/ pedi was also a bit skimpy for the $85 it cost. I'm certain the only reason they are in business is because of their location in the Galt House Hotel. Since the Galt House is such a great hotel, the businesses inside of it should be amazing too.... Not the case with this spa. Pros: -The massage lotion that they use on your hands and feet while the clay mask dries smells awesome. -While I have nothing to compare it to, the facial massage was relaxing. Cons: -Spent $95 (not including tip and credit card fees) for what was supposed to be 60 minutes, but only lasted 45 minutes or so. -I was told that the facial steamer takes a little bit to start working. I guess "a little bit" means more than 45 minutes because it never came on. -Was asked HOW I wanted to leave the tip, not if I wanted to (this is the ONLY "high end" salon that I know of that allows tipping). -The salon/spa dumps the 3% credit card fee onto the customer. -Technician didn't address the concerns that I stated on my intake form. I have been dealing with acne on and off for years and was told that since I use products (Neutrogena face wash and an over the counter acne gel) that they wouldn't focus the facial on my acne. ------Most aggravating of all: my technician and the lady at the counter that checked me out LET ME WALK OUT OF THE SPA AND THRU THE ENTIRE HOTEL WITH DRIED CLAY STILL ON MY FACE, NECK, AND IN MY HAIRLINE. Image my surprise and aggravation when I get to my car and notice that I have blobs of clay on the tip of my nose, in my eyebrows, in my hair, on my neck, on my ear and earring, and on my jaw. Melissa, the owner, greeted me at the desk and offered me bottled water while I waited. Emily my manicurist acknowledged me by name and was very nice! We talked the whole time! If I could give negative stars I would. My hair was flat and the curl fell out before I left. The website said 40$ for a wash cut and style. I was charged 66$ and didn't request anything extra. Worst experience ever. Then we were told at the front desk we would get a gift bag since we were staying at the hotel, but when the stylist was fixing the gift bags the manager came and took one item out of the bag and handed to each of us instead of the gift bag. Felt like she was treating us poorly because we weren't ultra rich. We were doing all this for my friends birthday and were really disappointed with the experience. We won't be back. Ridiculous place the person who gave me the service coughed on me and I felt the saliva. So gross. Her nose was running and she whiped it as she serviced me. I could hear her sniffles the entire process and then an open mouth coughing. No supervision Over priced. I plan to let the Marriott know not to recommend them ever. I had a scrub that was 130 dollars and a glow for 40 dollars there was NO glow. She had someone come in to check it clearly she had never done the service before and it was very obvious I believe the product was expired. There was no glow my color was the same. I will never go back in fact I plan to block the payment from my bank. I then had a blow dry and when I told gal I didn't like something she said oh no it's cute. I paid $260 and hated everything.
