I want to like this place soooo much because I live very close but I have been disappointed with the food everytime. The biggest standout to me is the chicken entrees. Each one has included VERY fatty pieces of chicken thigh with a LOT of breading. The last one I got I had to cut apart my chicken pieces to actually get chicken. We have ordered the dry chili chicken a few times which has been consistently good, and the last order came burned so was nothing but crunch and we had to throw it away. The side items such as fried rice, egg rolls, etc have all been decent, but very greasy. We have officially ruled this one out in our household. read more

Potstickers: Nice thin skins, good crunchy pan fry on the bottom, slightly underseasoned filling. Sautéed bok choy: Crispy and light with a hint of garlic, easy and healthy. Biang Biang noodles: Interesting mix of strong flavors, which weren't quite my favorite. I found it to be a touch too salty, and I was surprised by the tomato. Trialing the thin noodles was probably the wrong move; the thick hand pulled ones would've stood up to the savorineas much better. Large portion. Beef noodle soup: The thick hand pulled noodles were homey and delicious, just the right texture with some alternating thin and thick chewiness that reminded me of home. The beef noodle soup was quite light without any real beef flavor, though comforting nonetheless. I've ordered from this place about three times in the past month, so I've really been enjoying it for Chinese food. My last order was good also, but the ribs were super dry and almost in edible. I also had the Japanese hibachi noodles with chicken, which are always great, and the biang biang noodles. The latter were very soggy. Unfortunately this place has gotten progressively worse over the last 6 months. It used to be our go to place for ordering Chinese. Our last order included Szechuan chicken and potatoes. The order was swimming in oil making it almost inedible. We also ordered the Hibachi beef in garlic butter. The beef was unrecognizable and sparse. I've been wanting to try X'ian Cuisine for a while and I'm glad I was finally able to get there. We just wanted a light lunch so we shared an order of tofu skins and got 2 flatbreads aka rou jia mo, a popular Shaanxi street food that isn't always easy to find here. The tofu skins were just okay. The hot oil really wasn't but there was a faint hint of Sichuan peppercorn. The flatbreads were much better. I got the marinated beef in a crunchy flatbread. The contrast between the hot bread and the cold filling was nice. The bread was crispy and flaky. On the whole, it was like a Chinese roast beef sandwich. The pork, on soft flatbread, was equally good. Service is fine and the decor is showing its age somewhat but nothing that distracts from the food. Really extensive menu! They have sushi, Chinese American dishes, Szechuan, and Xi'an food. We shared 2 pork rou jia mou's, a spicy fish soup, biang biang noodles, and a spicy chicken. Everything was flavorful, fresh and delicious! I highly recommend the spicy fish soup. There was a lot of pieces of fish and the soup was filled with bean sprouts and cabbage as well. Service was friendly and prompt. Parking is definitely a bit of a challenge. You'll need to find street parking which costs about $14 for 3 hours. The bathrooms are clean and there's plenty of seating inside the restaurant. Definitely a great place for Chinese without having to go into Chinatown. read more

Braised lamb flatbread soup I liked more than the plain lamb flatbread soup because it had some more flavor from the spices in the braised lamb. It was a bit on the salter end but the size of the dish is worth it. The flatbread soaked in the soup has a fun texture. They also include some thin vermicelli noodles and plenty of lamb meat. We also got lamb skewers. I love their dry seasoning on their skewers. The pork trotters were delicious. Unassuming from the outside, Xi'an Cuisine is a true hidden gem! The inside is much larger than you might expect, with a full bar and ample seating. The peking duck and soup dumplings were delicious and the sashimi was very fresh. This is not your typical Chinese restaurant, though they also serve the usual American Chinese dishes. The menu is extensive but divided into regions. My favorite is the Xi'an section. The Biang Biang noodles and roujiamo (flatbread) are uniquely delicious. I also have the edamame spring rolls and of course a bottle of Tsing Tao Beer. I love that this Xi'an location exists in the West Loop! My husband and I stopped here after running errands at H-Mart, which is right across the highway bridge (a brisk 5 min walk). We've been to the locations in both Chinatown and Naperville before, so it was awesome that we serendipitously wound up here, and got to try their food in the West Loop. Between the two of us we got: 2 bowls of Biang Biang noodles Fried Garlic Ribs (appetizer) Vinegar and Sesame Sauce Noodles (appetizer) The ribs came up piping hot and freshly fried; they were well-seasoned and so good! My husband is always a fan of cold noodles ("vinegar and sesame sauce" noodles on their menu). The food came out quickly and was made to order. The noodles (both the thin ones in the cold noodles and the thick hand-pulled ones in the Biang Biang noodles) and literally stretched so long in one continuous line that it will be hard to find where it starts and ends. Good luck and long life from eating these noodles dishes indeed :) You can't go wrong with the Biang Biang noodles here, which I'd call one of their specialties. We came for dinner on a weekend and our server was attentive and kind. They have plenty of seating including tables by the window and rows of booths towards the back of the restaurant. They have extensive milk tea and fruit tea options as well. They have lots of things on their menu, which we scanned using a QR code. I love coming here whenever I am not in the mood to cook. This place is quite big inside and the service is always quick. There is always someone by the door to greet you when you enter the restaurant and you're basically seated right away. I highly recommend the tofu noodles and the salt and pepper tofu. The tofu noodles are so flavorful with the numbing Sichuan chili oil and the salt and pepper tofu are so wonderfully coated with a slightly crispy exterior and soft tofu interior. The flatbreads were also extremely flavorful, albeit a tiny bit too salty. For all of the noodle dishes, the noodles were delicious and wonderfully hand pulled but all of the sauces were just okay. The service was quick but the wait staff were quite rude. We were rushed multiple times to order and when asking for recommendations, the wait staff were quite rude and would not give any recommendations. When repeating the order back, they were quite demeaning and belittling, even though the entire transaction was in the native tongue. I needed to add a bunch of soy sauce to have any flavor but they only gave one packet.
