Michelin Star worthy quality food! Exceptional flavor and execution of the dishes. The BEST in Chicago and I'd say most likely in the US entirely. Absolutely delicious. Good service , relaxing environment. Definitely would love to see them work towards that Star, show the world how Authentic Chengdu Dishes should taste. Go , check them out; you'll thank me later. Located on the East side of Halsted Avenue. Pay to park for street parking, Kitchen closes around 930pm. CTA bus stop outside on the corner as well. Enjoy

Went back again and tried spicy sour fish fillet but it isn't as good as I thought. I won't get that again. But something really really caught my eyes and my friends said yes so I ordered the salted egg yolk corn kernels. Oh my god it is strangely addicting. It's a little sweet too. And a little crunch to it with the salted egg yolk. It's like opening a bag of snacks and we just couldn't stop eating it. Goes very well with rice too. Although it might seem pricey since it's just a plate of corn kernels but they made it good so I think I'll order it again.

Had a good time there with my friends. We ordered five dishes, but in my opinion, they were not as good as the Chinese restaurant that I've tried near UIUC area. Maybe I had a too high expectation before visit.

A new place to add to my go to Sichuan food! [[HIGHLIGHT]]It was pretty quiet at 5PM probably because it's still new and plenty of people came for takeout rather than sitting down.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The pickled vegetable side dish was crunchy, salty, and a little spicy with fresh mini red chilis in the pickling. Had daikon, carrot, celery, and cabbage. Pleasantly surprised to find Ye Er Ba (leaf wrapped sticky bun) on the menu. A glutinous rice colored with green veggie juice filled with Ya Cai (preserved salted vegetable) and ground pork steamed on a leaf. Not sure what the green juice is from, it didn't quite taste like mugwort, but could be spinach. Overall it was soft and stretchy, not too sticky, and just the right amount of flavor and salt without being too fatty. The mini golden buns were also shockingly good. Usually the ones at buffets are dry or hard. These were fluffy, great structure inside, perfectly proofed. The outside had a nice crunch and wasn't oily at all. Would actually consider getting this again. The Mao Xue Wang (tripe, blood, intestine, spam) was also great. The blood was super tender and still absorbed flavor well. Plenty of meat with added Napa and bean sprouts. Only thing I didn't like was the dried chili chunks on top, they were a bit over fried and didn't add to much to the already flavorful soup. The green peppercorn fish fillet was also taste! The fish fillets (tilapia?) were super tender and flavorful. There were some mushrooms inside. The cold spicy chicken was also good. The sauce wasn't super spicy. They did use peanut butter to add creaminess to the sauce. It does have skin and bones so just a warning. Overall their dishes had a good balance of meat to veggies in each entree dish with minimal inedible seasoning chunks. I was also able to take most of the soup bases home for future mini hotpots. Hot tea was an extra $5. Each entree comes with a bowl of rice. Extra bowls of rice were $2 each. Just to be transparent.

Overall this is a great place for Szechuan food! Great service and nice diversity in dishes. Green peppercorn fish filet - I like how much fish they gave us and the peppercorn is not overpowering. It was fresh and had a nice kick of heat. There's also a ton of vegetables inside. Pork intestines dish - again, they were very generous with quantities here. The pork intestines was very chewy and spicy. Pork blood was typical and what you expect. Hainanese chicken- this dish was ok. The chicken was a bit dry and the piece of chicken we got was not very thick so it was mostly bone. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Good atmosphere and good service.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] However, they charged like 5 bucks for tea which I was not a fan of.

We've seen this newly open Szechuan restaurant and decided to give it a try. We came on a weekday and it was fairly empty so we were seated right away. The options included a lot of spicy options. We ordered the dongpo pork hock, spicy sour fish soup and the eggplant with garlic sauce. The portions were huge I would recommend getting the fish soup with filets instead of whole fish because the whole fish had a lot of bones. The pork hock was tender and fell off the bone really easily. I would recommend coming with a bigger group because the portions were big and it allows you to order more items.

On the recommendation of a friend, I came to SzeChuan Alley in Chicago. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This restaurant undoubtedly does a great job in presenting authentic Sichuan cuisine and integrating it with a modern atmosphere.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] As a person who has high requirements for food, the dishes here gave me a lot of surprises First of all, the first impression of Chengdu Zhong Dumplings is its dumpling skin. Thin and tough, the dumpling filling is very rich. Although the appearance seems simple, it has an extreme ingenuity, as if every bite is a tribute to the traditional Sichuan cuisine skills The cold chicken has a refreshing taste, the chicken is cut just right, and it is paired with subtle spices and seasonings. Although the taste of the sauce is slightly light and has not yet fully penetrated into the ingredients, the fresh taste also makes it a good choice for appetizers The method of making Kung Pao Chicken is one of the characteristics of this store. The proportion of chicken wrapped in starch is relatively high, presenting a crispy taste, which is somewhat different from the traditional Sichuan Kung Pao Chicken. The sweet and sour taste, supplemented by the mellow fragrance of vinegar, paired with cucumber shreds, brings a different sense of layering, and the effect of removing greasiness is also in place The dish "Moonlight over the Lotus Pond" is a simple but exquisite vegetarian dish that I like very much. The combination of each ingredient has been carefully considered, and the taste is fresh. It not only meets the needs of health preservation, but also shows the diversity and delicacy of Sichuan cuisine in vegetarian dishes Fish-flavored shredded pork is a classic in Sichuan cuisine. The ratio of chopped pepper and sugar in the dish is just right, and the sweet and spicy taste is pleasantly blended. With the refreshing crispy shredded pork, it makes people feel warm and satisfied after eating, which is quite good with rice In addition, the service of the restaurant is also very considerate. The staff is enthusiastic and professional, providing recommendations in time and ensuring a smooth dining experience. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The dining environment is modern and full of Sichuan characteristics, so that every diner can feel comfortable and happy while tasting delicious food[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]In general, SzeChuan Alley provides every diner with a traditional and innovative dining experience through exquisite Sichuan cuisine presentation and elegant dining atmosphere.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It is a Sichuan restaurant worth recommending

Thankfully, that wasn't the case--I enjoyed the meal overall, even if it wasn't a "wow, this is the best meal ever" experience. The biggest surprise for me was the dried chili chicken. I almost didn't order it because so many reviews said it was overly salty and spicy. We asked for less salt, and they were happy to accommodate. I actually thought the spice level was very manageable, and it ended up being one of my favorite dishes. The orange chicken was another pleasant surprise. I expected it to be a basic, Americanized option, but it was delicious and ended up being one of my favorites of the meal. My friends really enjoyed the dan dan noodles, which seem to be one of their signature dishes. Personally, I thought they were good but not particularly memorable compared to everything else. The mango shrimp was tasty as well, but it wasn't something I'd consider a must-order on a return visit. Service was great. The waiter was friendly, accommodated our request for less salt, and we were seated immediately. We arrived about 10 minutes before opening on a weekday to line up, and that seemed to work well. overall a great experience!

I was really…read morecraving some good Chinese food but did not want to go into downtown first to pick up and then head back home so I looked this place up and had decent reviews and decided to try it out. What really impressed me was they had a specific section of the menu which was titled "Salt and Pepper". Of course I was super excited to try the salt and pepper tofu so here's what we got: - we got the salt and pepper tofu - we got the American garlic broccoli - got the mala lamb. - Got a pair of complimentary vegetarian spring rolls. When I went to pick up the take-out order, I was shocked at how heavy it was. This was clearly a lot of food. I'll start with the lamb. Very well thought out packaging, to be straight. Because the lamb had a lot of oil and liquid in it, they put it in a plastic container, which they knew is going to leak. They put that entire container in a separate tiny plastic bag and wrapped it so that the juices from that would not come all over in the main bag. Really appreciate that. Now the lamb, while cooked okay, the flavor was just, you know, it did not do it for me. Add to that they really kept the lamb as relatively big pieces. They were thinly sliced but they were just large pieces. They could have been smaller for it to be easier to eat. Flavor-wise there was just too much black pepper, which is what I was expecting, but to match that there was no flavor as such. The salt and pepper tofu was a disaster. I got it from other places. The flavor just was not doing it. It was not crispy at all. Yes I have them take out salt and pepper tofu from many other places. It does leave its crunchiness to some extent. This one had zero crunch. In fact it was weird. Every piece that was stuck to the next one had something gooey on it. Just overall the flavor was very underwhelming. The American garlic broccoli was overcooked to the extent it did not have the firmness one would expect and was overcooked to the extent where some of the smaller pieces just disintegrated. The spring roll is wild. The casing was phenomenal. It was perfect for a spring roll even after opening it after one hour. Really appreciate that. The filling, however, there really weren't many vegetables in it at all. That was very disappointing. Overall I don't think I am going to grab food from here again. The reason they get the 3.5 stars, though, is they did a phenomenal job on the packaging of all the food. The quantity was well beyond what I expected. The food, however, I have to say, was a disaster. And maybe this is my taste. It may be it's a bit too Americanized and I have not been used to eating very Americanized Chinese food for the last many years. That might be the problem.
