    Lamb tripe stir fry
    Lianna B.

My first time trying this type of cuisine and I really enjoyed. We went on a Tuesday evening and there was plenty of space (no reservation as when I called they said they don't take reservations for less than 6 people. We were promptly served tea. You scan the QR code to order and I appreciated that you see the total cost upfront at the time of ordering. There are 2 prices: regular pricing and VIP if you pay their annual membership fee (I believe it's 20/year). We tried the bbq eggplant which was one of the best eggplants I've had, the braised beef with hand pulled noodles and the lamb tripe stir fry. Food was served quickly after we ordered. My only complaint is I think the staff made the food less spicy for us when I actually would have appreciated more spice

English We were looking for a new food place for dinner where we can try a good authentic Chinese food . So, we decided to visit Xin Jiang Restaurant / Halal located in Markham, ON. If you're looking for a phenomenal food / dining experience, look no further than Xin Jiang Restaurant / Halal. Their menu is a culinary masterpiece, offering an incredible selection of dishes that cater to diverse tastes and preferences. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the staff ‍‍‍ is friendly and attentive, making every visit a true pleasure. Xin Jiang Restaurant / Halal is a lovely place. Away from the hustle and bustle of the city in spite of being in the city . The place has the huge indoor seating arrangements and the seating arrangement is super comfortable and spacious. The staff is really nice, friendly and kept following . The food menu is great and there are many choices to choose from and they also offer quite a lot of small bites options to choose from.Pricing is decent, good value for money and the place is more suitable for a group of people.

Clean, happy environment. Many customers enjoying their food. Loved eating here. The variety is huge with many unique dishes. The staff are extremely helpful with assisting you with making the right food selections. We had a party of 10 and ordered a lot of food. So this is a general review for the restaurant. I highly recommend.

It's our second time visiting this venue, this time in a group of 9. This is a super busy restaurant, reservation is only allowed for 6 or more guests. The restaurant was completely full but we got seated almost immediately on arrival and were served with warm tea and menu. Despite being so busy, servers were prompt, attentive and polite, and the wait time for food was reasonable. Xin Jiang food is exotic to us, there are many delicious skewers, lamb and beef dishes. We ordered a whole table of food and thoroughly enjoyed the meal. Due to mostly BBQ or roasted nature of food, it's a bit stuffy inside so it'll be good if ventilation could be improved. Overall, the ambience was good and we'll hope to try its other branches shortly.

Braised Bone-In Lamb Served Over Naan

This is an authentic Xinjiang cuisine place that serves great halal food with generous portions. The Xinjiang Style BBQ Lamb Kebab was amazing. Very Xinjiang style, the meat flavor was brought out by the lamb oil and got further elevated by the smokiness from the griller, with the chili powder drizzled on top... A must-try. And not exaggerating, you'll see in this place almost every table has ordered this same dish. The BBQ Chicken Wings were yummy too. Braised Bone-In Lamb Served Over Naan - A different way of cooking lamb but very flavorful. Highly recommend letting the naan pieces fully soak into the gravy. The place was clean and spacious, and the service was great. The staff was friendly and efficient. Will definitely revisit. Food (quality, creativity, consistency) - 5/5 Drinks (quality, variety) - NA/5 Ambience (interior design, cleanliness) - 4.5/5 Service (courtesy, knowledge, timeliness) - 5/5 Value (quality vs. price) - 5/5

This spot has really great Xin Jiang cuisine and a large menu with many options and is Halal. We had our sights on the skewers and got a bunch to try. We got the lamb, beef, chicken gizzards, beef tendon and chicken cartilage to try. Also had the cabbage and potato skewers. All the meat was fresh and seasoned well, we got a medium spice but we'll definitely kick it up a notch next time since it wasn't spicy for us. don't sleep on the cabbage and potato skewers either. it looks simple which it is, but it brings a natural flavour and satisfying crunch. We also tried the Liang Pi which was pretty good, as well as the stir fried diced noodles with lamb. it tasted slightly sweet and the texture of diced noodles was chewy and made for a unique dish. it gets quite busy so you might have to wait. service is attentive and efficient. you can buy a membership card here (I think for $20?) and get member pricing on their menu which is really worth. we saved $23 already in this dinner with a group of 5 and the membership lasts 2 years. Highly recommend!

We stumbled across this restaurant while window shopping the restaurants at Metro Square. This restaurant caught our eyes with large stews, bbq skewers, mini wok stir fried. We decided to take a chance and try it out. The restaurant is located on Steeles Ave E just west of Warden Ave. We ordered the following: 1. Stir fried bone-in chicken with hand pulled noodles $28.99 2. Stir fried lamb pluck $22.99 3. Pan fried beef and chives pancake $8.99 This restaurant tries to sell you on lower prices if you purchase a membership for $20 which gives you access to members' only pricing. We wanted to try the food first before we decide. Overall the food was really good. The chicken stir-fry had a delicious broth which compliments the noodles. The lamb stir fry was also really good. The server asked us our tolerance for heat/spiciness. We went for mild because we didn't want to burn out our stomach. We made the right choice. The beef chive pancake had vermicelli and egg stuffed in a flaky pan fried pancake. I would definitely order this again. Service was very good for chinese restaurant the orders were brought out fast and hot. If you want to try something different I would recommend coming here and try their specialty dishes. The restaurant is also serving Halal dishes only. Follow me on @whenhungerstrikes17

Located in the Metro Square plaza on Steeles and Warden, Xin Jiang is a halal Chinese restaurant known for their lamb skewers. Parking is average - it can get busy during peak hours, especially on weekends, as it does share the lot with several other restaurants. The restaurant itself can get very busy. I think it's one of the busiest restaurants in the entire plaza. Be ready to wait for upwards to 45 minutes on weekend dinner times. I strongly recommend calling in for a reservation. Beware that all the staff speak Mandarin and minimal English, so be sure to speak up and point to things if you're not fluent! The skewers were not too chewy and not dry at all. If you have their membership ($20 a year, which is easily recuperated within a handful of visits throughout the year), it's $2.79 per lamb skewer - very good value. Normally I get lamb skewers at night markets, which are much smaller and not as tasty, for $2 each (5 for $10 usually). We also ordered some spicy lamb with Chinese pancakes and it was super yummy. They also have this vegetable noodles and it was a little oily but great nonetheless. Their tea is also delicious and pairs well with the food! But, I would still say that some of their pricing is a bit on the expensive side. We ordered some mackerel skewers which were $8 for two small ones. Definitely still my go-to for lamb skewers!

This is one of my new favorite places to eat. The food is the bomb! They have this salted egg pumpkin that is a must try. They have a great selection of food that everyone can enjoy and the staff is great! Definitely coming back to try the rest of the menu :)

    Shrimp dumpling

Food was good. Dumplings were juicy and tasty. Overall, decent and typical. Service is typical chinese restaurant.

One thing I appreciate about this place is the staff are very humble, we ordered hand pulled beef noodle spicy, spicy beef, chicken fried rice, stuffed beef pankcake, hot and sour soup shrimp, the service was excellent the staff were fast and efficient, a lot of people will like this because it's halal as well, when we were there the place was getting packed, the hand pulled noodle was really good, perfect texture on the noodle, and a spicy sweet sour taste, portion size was quite big too and a bit expensive, the fried rice was really good had a smoky taste, I loved the stuff beef pancake, I know these are really popular in Malaysian food as well, the soup was really tasty perfect balance of sour and spicy and sweet, the ambiance was really nice and clean, very humble owner, this is what I like the food can taste good but if there is good customer service that's what makes the experience unforgettable

BOTTOM LINE: Lamb skewers FTW! Also, pro tip, that membership is defo worth it, with cross use with their two downtown locations! Being a total n00b to North Western Chinese cuisine, I was very pleasantly surprised about the similarities but also the very large differences between this and typical Southern Chinese cuisine in the GTA. The first thing you'll notice is that their meats are Halal and their teapots are more akin to ones you'll find in Middle Eastern cultures. Their menu is also split, where half are barbecue skewers/offerings, and the other half are dishes/hot pots. The second thing you'll notice is that lamb is their main meat used in their dishes. As other reviewers have mentioned++, those LAMB SKEWERS are soooo good, properly barbecued and rich in flavour. With the membership card, they're a whole dollar off, which is kinda nuts! I tried a few of their LUNCH SPECIALS, including the one with the rice and lamb served in a wooden bowl (highly recommended!), and one of their lamb noodle soups (also highly recommended!). As a litmus test, any place that offers a BEEF NOODLE SOUP, I feel obliged to order it. Here, I found it....just okay. It wasn't bad, but it just felt a bit plain with respect to the richness of the broth, the tenderness of the beef, and the garnishes. Finally, I tried their BARBECUE SQUID, and I'm not sure I can recommend it, unless you really, really love things over-spiced with cumin. They have two sister restaurants downtown, which I have yet to try, but since their membership card works there as well, you can be sure I'll be dropping by soon.

Good food. They don't try to hide bad meat with over abundant amount of spice. You know that the meat is fresh. Definitely get the BBQ skewers! Comfortable enough seating. Spacious, clean and not to loud. Price is fair, if you buy the membership card. Without the card it is pricey. The membership card is $20 valid for 3 years, I believe. Would definitely return.

It feels immersive and intentional, almost like stepping into a countryside home in Dongbei rather than a typical restaurant. The décor isn't fancy, but it's rich in cultural detail and warmth, perfectly matching the hearty, comforting style of Northeast Chinese cuisine. The space is unique and perfect for taking photos. The food here is very generous. We ordered the 4-person set with two side pots. Tomato Braised Beef Brisket and Chicken Stewed with Mushrooms and the portions were huge. Both pots arrived steaming hot and filled to the brim, clearly meant for sharing. The braised beef was rich and hearty, while the chicken pot was comforting and full of flavor, making it perfect for group dining or cold weather meals. Combined with the rustic, traditional décor, it really feels like authentic Northeast Chinese comfort food. The food and atmosphere were excellent, though the service was a bit lacking. Prices are reasonable for the generous portion sizes and the unique restaurant décor.

I was hoping to find something special on the menu. The Peking duck caught my eye at around $70, but then I discovered that almost everything else was extra--lettuce wraps, stir-fried duck meat, fried rice, and soup. By the time you add the extras, the bill is easily another $50 or more, bringing the total to well over $120. We decided to pass, and judging from the dishes we did order, that was probably the right decision. The hot and sour soup had plenty of heat and tang but lacked depth of flavor and was under-seasoned for my taste. Fortunately, we only ordered a small bowl. The deep-fried tofu was bland and forgettable. The stir-fried shrimp was acceptable but nothing special. The biggest disappointment was the sweet and sour pork. I specifically asked the server to make sure the pork was crispy, but it arrived soft and lumpy rather than light and crunchy. Even the complimentary red bean dessert soup was watery and lacked flavor. Our bill came to about $104 for two people. For the quality of the food, I didn't feel it offered good value. Sadly, after several disappointing visits, I don't think we'll be returning.

Everything tasted great. The crab was a little overcooked as the meat stuck to the shell and the steak was a bit under and more rare than medium rare but everything was delicious. I had my food in my insulated bag, so the sauce leaked into the Fantuan bag and my insulated bag. Luckily, my car was fine. As a result, my rating is four stars. I wanted to try a new eatery. I looked at my Fantuan app and noticed He Bei Chinese Cuisine. It had dumplings and snacks that I enjoy, so I said yes to placing a dinner order from this eatery. I ordered these items: - Pork and chive steamed dumplings (large has 14 dumplings) - Tea eggs - Shredded potato salad On Fantuan, when you purchase $15 worth of food, you get the shredded potato salad for a cent. Deal! After placing my order near my home, I drove over to this eatery. The drive was ten minutes. I was given an estimated time of fifteen minutes. It was ready in ten minutes. I had no problem finding this eatery. There was plenty of parking. I pulled into a spot and walked in. I saw the Yubu sign. My heart sank, as I loved the Korean tofu pockets from this joint. I liked seeing places to sit down and eat at He Bei. Nice! A woman behind the counter came over. I said that I had a Fantuan order. She talked to me in Mandarin. I don't understand it, but we were fine communicating with each other in our languages. She pointed out the blue Fantuan bag on the table behind me. I thanked her and wished her a nice day. She said thanks right back. I put my food in my insulated bag. With the leak, I managed to launder the Fantuan bag and clean my insulated bag. After I cleaned up, I had dinner at home. The food was amazing and filling! I loved the shredded potato salad. Sure, a lot of the sesame-soy sauce was gone. However, it tasted yummy. It was worth the cent! The steamed pork and chive dumplings were so good. I didn't dunk them in soy sauce. The filling had so much moisture that I felt like I was eating soup dumplings. The filling had yummy flavour and the dumplings were steamed to perfection. Excellent! You can buy frozen dumplings from this place. I'll need to do it. The tea eggs were the perfect snack while streaming hockey games. I peeled the shells off both of them. The eggs were cracked to allow the amazing soy-based sauce to marinate and get into the eggs. Delicious! I'm a fan. I'll take a closer look at the lids on my food next time. I'm glad that I put food in my insulated bag. It saved cleaning my car's upholstery! (59)

So we ordered Maggi Lobster (~3lbs) for $34/lb, and stir fried beef with Chinese broccoli (gai lan). The lobster was cooked perfectly, with the Maggi sauce not being too salty. They definitely gave us all the pieces of the 3lbs lobster. The gai lan had a bitter aftertaste, which is common for this vegetable. I wished they had a way to get rid of that. They were generous with the amount of beef and was well marinated. The cut wasn't that great, but that is to be expected. I don't think they added much MSG or at least used good quality ones, as we did not feel overly thirsty later in the evening. They give free daily soup and dessert. What we were most impressive was with the service. The waiters were very attentive, changing our plates twice during our 1ish hour meal. The individual New Century slow boiled soup is hardest to share but secure some empty bowls and you can divide the hefty portion. There's plenty to choose from in the house signature combo platter including roasted duck, soy sauce chicken, BBQ pork, pork slices, and seaweed salad. Saving my stomach for the later dishes, I had a taste of the duck (a good start with crispy skin) and BBQ pork (satisfactory and well flavoured). With the generous portion of chicken in the combo platter, the slow cooked chicken with abalone broth seemed like overkill. I've never been a huge fan of this dish that's served cold since I prefer chicken hot. Still, I understand it's the jelly layer between the skin and meat that people enjoy. And to be fair, the chicken was tender, and New Century certainly didn't skimp on the ginger and scallion oil. For those who tend to fill-up before the "main dishes", the stars of the combo arrive mid-meal. The stir-fried Vancouver crabs with silver fish in HK style spicy sauce needs to be eaten at arrival as the crunchy coating is best straight from the fryer. And despite not looking spicy, the dish has a light heat that permeates in the background. Additionally, the crab was fresh and meaty, cooked well so it remained delicately flakey. The amount of sweet and sticky sauce used in the stir-fried lobsters with scallion in Maggie sauce was well balanced, lightly covering the crustaceans. Both lobsters were substantial; even after eating many pieces, we still had plenty of leftovers. This is a long review head to Gastro World for the rest.

Here's what we got: Chicken wings 4/5 - Came out raw the first time after we bit into it. But quickly flagged a server to let them know how this issue. They brought us a new one shortly after that was perfectly cooked, juicy and crispy on the outside. Laotan boiled fish with pickled cabbage and chili 4/5 - Their number one classic so we had to try. It's sour and spicy with the right amount of kick to it. Basa fish filets were also tasty. Came out luke warm. Princess's tomato fish 4/5 - Packed with tomato flavour. Savoury and paired well with the basa fish filet. Came with bean curd noodles as well. Came out luke warm. Easily would be a five star review if both soups that we got came out piping hot rather than lukewarm. Regardless, a great spot for a quick in and out meal.

Great food, friendly service. What more could you ask for…read more The decor is amazing, really feels special compared to the boring decor of other Chinese restaurants. The portions are large and great for sharing. If you can handle spicy, grab a friend that can also handle it and you're in for a good time here. Note that this place only accepts cash and debit.

Wait list is old school...someone writes your name and number in a notebook and you are called when your table is ready. The interior is reminiscent of the old school taverns you see in those old Chinese movies where the traveller has spent days walking or on a horse and comes upon a tavern where the interior is all wooden tables and benches. Dining style and dishes are all family style. You order a couple of dishes and then add rice. Spice level can be adjusted and even at 'less' the heat level was high. Definitely generous use of Szechwan peppercorns! Food is very flavourful and depending on preference some might find the oil level high. The clientele is mainly Mandarin speaking and if you are Asian they will immediately communicate in Mandarin with you but I did see the staff switch to English where needed. Service was patient and attentive.
