Such a great stop in the neighborhood! I've been wanting to stop here for so long and I'm glad I did. The vibes are great, dark and moody for sure. They are always playing good music too. This would be perfect for people who want to sit close and chat; it was a little loud for our group of four around the table. The drinks were all unique and refreshing. I appreciated the mocktail selection too. The complementary snack mix was a very nice touch. On my way out, I saw they had a patio out back which looked like an incredible space. I'll definitely be recommending this spot anytime I'm in the area!
Excellently crafted cocktails, perfect Japanese HiFi snack bar style ambiance, the service was warm and friendly and personal, and the bread plate with butter and jam was very tasty. Definitely will be back!
Ultra vibes in this cozy hipster neighborhood bar. LPs spin live in low lighting hip environment. Japanese influence on food and drinks. LOTS of Japanese whisky etc. They do have an outdoor area but it was COLD when we were on site so not open. Def. Recommend.
After a few visits, I can confidently say it's one of our go to spots. Either for a chill date night or cocktails before heading out - the vibes are immaculate. I remember this garage growing up and it's cool to see it transformed into something so unique. If the weather is decent, I definitely recommend the outdoor patio and my drinks suggestion is xo highball.
I heard about this place through a friend on IG and when I saw the record wall I haaaaad to visit! My friends and I sat at the bar and the drink recommendations, the music, the service was 10/10! This was the first time I had ever tried an espresso martini and I have to say it has been hard to find a place to match how good it was, it was bold and had a strong coffee profile but was also sweet and airy, i loved it! I will be back!
this place had such a cozy wind down vibe, perfect for a night cap or post dinner drink! they have a beautiful bar filled with records, jazzy music, and a bunch of 4 person tables inside. outside they have heaters and benches or tables and are able to seat a larger party. we arrived around 8ish on a saturday night and it was packeddd. unfortunately they don't take reservations so the inside tables and outside tables were all in use when our party of 5 arrived. they were able to seat us at the outdoor fire area though. it was a chillier night so we sat pretty close to the fire and it was pretty smoky. they did provide a blanket outside though! although we were seated basically completely away from the other tables and people, the servers were very attentive and made sure we were taken care of. we ordered the dirty martini, all night company (banana espresso martini), femme fatal and the hoshi zora (the lavender matcha drink). the Hoshi Zora was my favorite! very smooth and despite the lack of color it has very good flavor. a little more expensive than i was expecting for the size of drink you get but i liked the vibes enough i would come back for special occasions.

A group of six of us stopped in for a post-dinner cocktail round, and we were immediately drawn in by the intimate, retro vibe. Think Japanese listening lounge meets audiophile cocktail bar--dim lighting, cozy seating, and a killer vintage sound system spinning vinyl the entire time. I ordered the Kobayashi--a beautifully balanced cocktail made with tonic and shiso. Basically a Japanese riff on a gin and tonic, and it came garnished with a striking leaf that made it almost too pretty to drink. Almost. It's small, low-key, and easy to miss if you're not looking for the two small signs--but once inside, you feel transported. Already planning a return visit to dive into Chef Johnny Leach's highly praised Japanese-inspired menu. XO Hifi is the kind of place you'll want to linger a little longer next time.

It was hands down one of my favorite cocktails I've ever had. It was incredibly refreshing and had a delightful matcha flavor. I will literally crave this drink. I loved the relaxed atmosphere and the crowd that it brought in.

The espresso martini and orange wine was very yummy! I loved the ambiance sitting at the bar right by the record player, they were playing really good music! 10000% will be back
I've said more than once I wish my own home had the same vibe as XO Hifi. It truly is such a unique place. The lighting, music and drinks pull everything together and make this such a magical spot. I always look forward to coming back.
Gorgeous ambience, delicious drink, and great music. What more could you ask for? First come, first served seating -- no reservations and no saving seats. The space is intimate with small tables, so this is definitely not a place to bring more than a group of 4 comfortably. Perfect for a date or drinks with a friend. Mid century modern decor paired with carefully curated vinyl. The drink menu is concise and thoughtful. Small but tasty food menu. The lighting slowly gets lower as the night rolls on. I stopped in for quick drinks, and both of my cocktails were fabulous. The Cheree Cheree was delicious, and I am obsessed with the house made aperitif in the Femme Fatale (they have lots of NA options)! There's some street parking directly outside the bar, which is unassuming from the sidewalk. Close to the corner of 17th and Summit can get busy on weekends, but you shouldn't have to park too far unless you're in for a long wait for a seat.

They even let me try a few things of what they were working on! The vibe here is amazing, the record player in the middle of the bar area with the dimmed lighting gives it a calming ambience! I got the paper tiger high ball and did the Japanese whisky tasting menu! Everything was amazing! I can't wait to come back!
This was a nice, small, quaint place. Perfect for a date night, double date, or if you and a friend want to have a serious talk but want to be somewhere quiet with a drink. This is not a bar or music spot where a large group comes and laughs loudly etc., this is not that place. Our waitress was nice and she was consistent with enforcing policy. Policy as I observed it: 75% if your party must be there. So, if it's a double date and one couple is running late, you cannot be seated. You cannot order a drink at the bar while you wait for a table to open up. This didn't make much sense to me but if it works for them great. Your party cannot be split. Example this was our first time coming here. We had a small group of 4 but one of the persons invited 4 other people. Those 4 did not know one another although they were invited by the same person. Although there was a table for two behind us, they would not split the 4 new people, although two of the 4 was a couple. I hope that makes sense. They had to wait until a table of 4 opened. Not bad but it's something you will not know until you arrive. So, keep your party small. I ordered the zero proof passion fruit drink but added gin. Very good. The food did not appeal to me. It's an eat before you arrive place in my opinion. I'm not against going back it was overall nice.

Love the spot. The music always great background to the elevated scenery created for mid afternoon to late evening gathers up. Never a concern with fitting folks into the space even though it is very small for a bar. You will need to slide between tables and chairs. Just factor to keep in mind, but this is not an issue as most folks try to be respectful of one another. During a pop-up yoli tortilleria event got to dine on sonoran style hot dog, masa shio koji wings, summer veggie esquites paired with chips by yoli, and finish with strawberry ice cream sandwich ( High Hopes & Corn cookies) It was both filling a delicious. If I space in my stomach I would have for sure ordered seconds. It can get a little warm in side, so be ready for that too if you run on the hotter side. They have so many drinks and snacks on the regular menu. So dont think you missed out by not attending this type of pop-up. Can garauntee there will be more in the future! read more
So full disclosure: this review is about the cocktails and vibes! My friends and I found this place after eating dinner so we didn't have any room to sample the food offerings! First and foremost, what a random but fun little location near to Yoli's and within eyesight of the Kaufman Center! We walked in at XO and were greeted by the host, and we sat ourselves at the bar. The drunk menu has a fair number of options, and as long as you and your group are up for some inventive cocktails (but not tooooo out of the realm of possibility), you'll find something on the menu for everyone! XO HIFI is an all time favorite already!! The vibes are immaculate! I am obsessed with their cocktail that has matcha in it. All the drinks are high quality too! They even give you a little bowl of snacks to go with your drink. The edamame dip is so good! The inside is very cozy, and outside is a nice place to sit too. They even kept the fire going when we were the only people out there. This is my favorite and I'm obsessed!! read more

Beautiful space, thoughtfully curated menu. The zero proof drinks are far from boring and the pork katsu sandwich was crunchy, savory and fresh. The miso butter on the radish platter... Sometimes you come across a place that just has all the feels for you and this place is it. A new cocktail and record bar located in the trendy Westside neighborhood. The aesthetic is beautiful, mid-century modern with touch of Japanese minimalism (bonus they have bidets in bathrooms). They serve a mix of house cocktails, fine spirits, and natural wines. We tried several of their cocktails including the satin sheets as well as cloudbusting, which is their take on an espresso martini. Everything we had was delicious, simple, elegant and well balanced cocktails. Next time we'll be sure to have some of their small plates they offer, including the Japanese egg salad sandwich (iykyk). Would be nice if they expanded the sake menu...maybe thoughts for the future. A fantastic addition to the high end cocktail scene in KC. The vibes were so on point. The entire bar backdrop reminded me of the record player stand my grandpa hand built my parents with the record slots and the giant retro speakers. The drinks were strong and tasty. This ambience is very cute and looks like it would belong in a bigger city like Chicago. It is very dark with the ambient lighting. The drinks were good and they had a unique cocktail menu. The food was more on the mediocre side as none of it really stood out to me. I remember the tofu dish tasting quiet bland food me and the tuna has no flavor? The sandwich was more bread than meat sadly. The staff was really nice and I would go again but just for the drinks! read more

We stumbled upon this location on a night out, but wow! A romantic space with a sense of mystery. Though they were close to closing time, staff were kind and accommodated us. Drinks were good quality, but predictable. Music was a highlight, normally a fan of listening to lo fi so hearing hi fi in this setting was an experience! read more

Wonderful little spot in the Westside neighborhood. Drinks were delicious, the pork sandwich is something I still think about, and the records rotating were all the good vibes. absolutely beautiful inside, had a lovely assortment of records they played, and the drinks were amazing! my friend and i tried the pork katsu sandwich it was so delicious! this place is a gem and has only been around for about 4 months i believe the bartender said, get in while you can because this place will go far excited to see them grow! read more

I would return for the tunes and the atmosphere bundled before a night on the town. Though I found the drinks underwhelming (I'm also not very adventurous and stick with whiskey based cocktails!) the ambiance and service were charming as can be - modern, romantic, and intentional.
