I'm honestly amazed this is legal. There were about 20 dogs confined to tiny cages all day with no interaction. I saw three dogs go to the bathroom in their cages, and they were forced to sit in their own urine and feces, one even ate its own waste. Several dogs had no water available. Many looked sick, dirty, and neglected, and they appeared to have come from puppy mills. I truly hope LCAS is aware of what's happening here and is actively working to improve these animals' conditions. read more

The staff and owners of this store lied to me. I went here hoping to buy a puppy for my birthday and left feeling disappointed and angry. During my visit, I fell in love with a fluffy little girl. I had already decided to buy her, but I wanted to follow the basic steps that responsible owners recommend. I asked about her vaccinations and about the health testing of the parents. The staff told me that all of their puppies come from small local families here in Virginia, that the families vaccinate before shipment, and that they only breed from healthy parents. I felt reassured and excited. To be safe, I asked to see her paperwork. I was told earlier that everything was local, so this was supposed to be a simple confirmation. Instead, the papers said she was bred in Missouri. I asked the salesperson how Missouri counted as "local to Virginia" and why he had told me the exact opposite. He said he got confused. That explanation made no sense. I pointed out that he had spoken with confidence about all of their puppies coming from local families, and yet the paperwork showed something completely different. At that point, I could not trust a single thing I had been told. If you are thinking about buying a puppy from here, look at the paperwork yourself before you make any decision. Do not rely on what the staff tells you. My experience showed me that what they say and what is written on the documents are two very different things. read more

They also did fecal test . We just received now she has Giardia. Like this is unacceptable since we got her we cant really enjoy because shes sick . This is very frustrating. I'm giving it 3 stars because the customer service from Alex was great & incredibly helpful, but my puppy started showing kennel cough symptoms the day after we brought her home. Alex answered all my questions about the puppies for about 45 mins while I tried to narrow down which puppy would fit best with me. I could only play with one due to the holiday weekend business which made sense. There were so many cute puppies that caught my eye before I noticed a little puppy looking very anxious in her little box. I was worried about her because she was shaking a bit so I decided to ask to play with her. At first she was very shy but after she warmed up, she stopped shaking and started playing. Alex told us she just got there yesterday, and we were only her second play interaction so she was probably a little nervous. After I had her out and saw how much better she felt. I couldn't let her go back in the little box. The vet xopups referred us to was great, they made her appointment same day when her hacking/coughing started, they gave us meds and she's on her way to getting better. However, $4300 without the extra $400 package is a lot to pay for a sick dog. Ultimately the customer service was great, and even though it's ridiculously overpriced, bringing Winnie home & watching how happy she's gotten is priceless. Before purchasing from here I recommended being mindful that it is very expensive & some reviews have said puppies have kennel cough. UPDATE: She also has Giardia, which the vet is now treating with a second antibiotic. read more

This place needs to be reported and shut down. Not only do their puppies come from puppy mills, a completely unethical practice that breeds mothers to death and puppies are born in unhygienic conditions, but the puppies in the store are treated like products. They are kept in small brightly lit display cases where there isn't even proper flooring, just metal grates for the floor that are not good for those puppies to be walking on 24/7. They do not get to socialize with their litter mates or move beyond a small 1x3 box. Even if you are able to overlook all of those sad factors, they overprice their puppies to double or triple what a usual competitive rate is from an ethical breeder. That doesn't even guarantee that your puppy has passed its health checks and is in a good condition to go home. Absolutely heartbreaking to see and I recommend everybody to boycott this business and report them to get shut down. Disgusting. read more

The shop was clean and the staff was friendly and knowledgeable. We bought a Shiba Eue, eleven weeks old. They explained that the puppy had been in the shop for three weeks. We knew then that there would be problems. We brought the observation that the puppy had a crusty eye. It was almost swollen shut. We fell in love with the puppy so there was no way we were going to leave her there. The shop advised us to use their vet. We live an hour away from the shop. The next night we had to take the puppy to the emergency room. She had a cold. We treated her and today, a week later we took her to our regular vet. The reported the puppy has parasites, a heart murmur and a fever. She also suffers from sinuses. I won't say this shop sells sick dogs but if they have a vet on staff he/she is negligent in supervising the animals in their care. read more

Our experience with XO Pups was awesome. Was weird because we went in to see one dog, but before our appointment, he was purchased by a walk-in. They called and let us know, but as we were practically there, we went in for a look. Best decision ever because we found our boy,Charlie, and it's been so much fun. He did his included vet visit, tested positive for giardia (which is common in kennel pups), and it was all covered. I came into to look at the Cavapoo and Goldendoodles, but fell in love with a teddy bear! The sales associate was patient, allowed me to play with three of the dogs to assess whether we were bonding and answered all of my questions with a smile. My wife and I visited with our 6 month old schnoodle looking to add another dog to the household. The staff were courteous and helpful and we had a chance to meet a few of their wonderful puppies to get a sense of their personality before making our decision. It was a low pressure environment and even though there were several other families in the store receiving similar levels of attention we felt we had all the help we needed to make a good decision. As for pricing, I was pleased that they were able to provide a range over the phone and the price they quoted us in store actually matched what we were told by phone (!!). They don't take Amex so make sure you check what card you will use before you buy. XO PUPS is basically a fraud!!!! They advertise that they sell purebred and designer dogs. The dog that I purchased was supposedly to be a purebred Yorkshire terrier. I took him to doctor and they did a DNA test. He is only 75% Yorkshire terrier 12.5 Maltese, 12.5 other breed which was terrier and guard. He is not a purebred. Please to anyone that is new to buying a puppy, get the papers for proof. Also please understand the difference in ACA and AKC. They tell you that the microchip is AKC but this does not mean that the dog is registered through AKC. I wrote the pet solution to ask why such a big price for a dog that is not a purebred and the DNA results to show them and their response was basically a DNA is not always accurate but they have their proof that the puppy is purebred. If they have the paperwork then why are the customers not receiving the proof. DO NOT BUY FROM THIS ESTABLISHMENT IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A PUREBRED. This establishment is a rip off!!! Purchased puppy that had the Giardia parasite from this business. First they were going to pay for vet treatment and then they tried not to pay for further testing until I reminded them they had said they would. My puppy came from a Puppy Mill as listed on the Humane Society's 100 worst as well as other website that has a list of Puppy Mill breeders. Do your research before purchasing a pup from this business. Even though it's hard to do because you have to literally purchase a pup before you find out who the breeder is and what fecal tests have been done on the puppy. The XO Pups Vet information indicates that no fecal testing was done for Giardia, hook worms or other parasites that would have showed up from a fecal exam. Just because a breeder is licensed by APHIS does not guarantee that they are maintaining a decent ethical environment for their dogs and puppies. Unfortunately there are too many so called breeders in this country and not enough investigators to really monitor them. Beleery of breeders in Missouri and Pennsylvania. Pet stores are buying their puppies from these Puppy Mill breeders for low prices and selling them for minimum $3,500 upward. I certainly regret not going to an actual Breeder to ensure that I would not be getting a Puppy Mill puppy but rather purchasing a healthy one coming from a healthy mother dog that has had appropriate vet treatment and lives in an ethical, clean environment with owners who really take care of their dogs. read more

I purchased a puppy from them less than a week ago. Over the past week, the puppy has become increasingly aggressive with my child to the point where my daughter is terrified of the dog. I have also discovered that the puppy has a highly contagious parasite that is transferable to human. I have spoken with management and they have told me that they will accept the dog as a surrender BUT I'm still financially responsible for paying off the remaining balance for the dog. I am currently having to undergo treatment for said parasitic infection because I have been exposed. Would not recommend this place to anyone. read more
