My before hair... yes I know I had been putting off getting my hair done entirely too long.

Nigel at XOXO is phenomenal! It's rare when you find a stylist who gives you the best cut in your life (I don't say that lightly) and also a great colorist. In my experience I have found it is usually one or the other! As a customer I did not effectively communicate what I wanted, but then end result was jaw dropping! I have never been more pleased! He truly cared about the integrity of my hair, giving amazing advice since I've never been this blonde on how to care for it. His biggest priority was the end health of my hair while giving fabulous results. Nigel is a great communicator where if while in the salon he asks first and dogs for clarity, gives feedback for female who has ever done the "well I was thinking this is what I want what do you think?" He explains what he can and can't do so transparently because certain things you can do in one session but it will RUIN your hair. If the initial appt changes to add more on he clearly explains cost BEFORE touching your hair. He is not "salesy" in trying to sell more services or product which we have experienced in a salon and I love that! He is so fabulous I am writing a yelp review (I RARELY give anything a review - good or bad). 6/5 Stars for sure!!! Get ready for compliments you will receive A LOT: Don't just trust my words, look at the results. I have received SOOOOO many compliments including a final interview that turned into an offer the 1st thing the Director said was "omg Caroline's got her hair done, it looks fabulous" - yep she said it right after quickly passing by since I was early. I can't give Nigel more praises!!!

I have had the same long bland hairstyle for years and really wanted a change. This salon upon entering was very upbeat, positive, attentive, with a great atmosphere. Deep conditioning treatment has left my hair feeling silky soft and my stylist has a great eye for fitting stylish cuts. I am so pleased with the length and chic light style! Nigel King is very talented, entertaining, and kind. Enjoyed my whole visit with the interesting conversation and overall kindness! Would highly recommend and will return!

    Keratin/trim

Nigel always did a great job on my hair (cut/keratin/color on thick, wavy hair) and if I was worried about how something looked through the process, I would ask and Nigel sometimes would just answer the question for me based on the look on my face. I had long hair when I first started seeing Nigel in October 2017 and since he had done nothing but take good care of it. When I would walk in I normally would get greeted by other stylists near the entrance and I would tell people who I was there for and they would have me take a seat and if Nigel was running a few minutes late they would let me know.

ZERO STARS! This salon, and more specifically stylist Nigel King, have little sense of customer service, not to mention his lack of skill in cutting hair. I went in for a trim to even up my previous cut, and left with a lopsided hack job. I don't need a certificate from a third rate beauty school to know that lopping huge chunk of someone's hair is going to look awful. I've seen groomers do a better job on my dog! When I spoke with the "manager," I was informed that if I wanted someone else to fix it I'd have to pay. Seriously? After reaching out to Nigel and sending photos he took zero responsibility and offered to fix it a week later! How is acceptable to keep my hair like this for a week? Buncha beauty school drop outs!

Singing Rachel's praises!! I think my husband (83) and I (78) might be some of her older clients,…read morebut she makes us feel young! About a year ago, I decided to color my greying hair for the first time. Having never done color before, I researched online and found Deseo Salon. I made an appointment for a consult and met the fabulous Rachel. From the moment I chatted with her, I trusted her implicitly. She understood my concerns, my hopes, and -- most importantly -- my hair. She was one of the warmest people I had ever met and our rapport was immediate. Since that time, I have come to know more about this young, brilliant stylist. She is gracious, effervescent, gentle, and interesting. I persuaded my husband -- who hadn't been to a stylist in about six decades -- to come with me and have Rachel cut his hair. He said that he now knew what I'd been raving about for months. Beyond Rachel, the salon is wonderful. They recently moved into new and upscaled quarters. It is contemporary and sleek, yet exudes a warm welcome; it is open and bright, and yet gives a feeling of privacy in each stylist's space; it is softly-scented, evoking a mood of calm and serenity, and yet there is enough bustle and enthusiastic conversation to highlight the camaraderie between stylist and client. Deseo is eco-conscious -- a place where sustainabillity feels indulgent, not austere! Being there is a restorative experience. The front desk staff is outstanding, too. On a very personal note, I want to share two quick stories. One day I arrived at my appointment and was suddenly called to a family member's medical emergency. Despite their policy about cancelled appointments, they understood, didn't charge me, and told me to take my time and that I could rebook whenever I wished. The first time my husband accompanied me, he was offered -- as is everyone upon entering -- a beverage. He requested decaf coffee which they did not have. Yesterday, on his second visit, the lovely receptionist told him that she had ordered decaf specifically because he had asked for it on his first visit. For someone to go above and beyond based on the "need" of one customer is a sign of the caring that this salon exhibits. I cannot say enough good things about Deseo. Go here! Relax here! Enjoy here! And definitely book Rachel. When you find yourself in Rachel's chair, you know that you're in the hands of a stunning and talented professional.

My request was simple: CHUNKY balayage. CHUNKYYYY. I had pictures to show what I wanted. Mostly warm highlights with some cool sprinkled in. I also asked to add texture to my hair but keep the length (it was below my bra line). Nope... goodbye 6 inches I didn't ask to lose (now it's just below my shoulders). I had THICK voluminous hair, and now it's like I have the Rachel haircut. They foiled my hair to death and I ended up almost platinum blonde when the foils came out, and then to add insult to injury, you could clearly see the lines where the highlights began where it looks almost burnt at the edges?? We went back in for another TWO hours to make it warmer, but by that time my hair was fried, and now I have a bald spot I didn't have before. He offered to fix it in another few weeks after my hair has had time to settle, but I'm never letting anyone there touch my head again. I'm too nice of a person and still managed to crack a semi smile when it was finally done, but now I'm left with tears and silent screaming to hold back my utter horror at what they left me with. If you didn't get the memo: I don't recommend them. Even after everything, he still had the audacity to charge me $250 (discounted) and said I didn't need to leave a tip. Umm, thanks? God only knows how long this is going to take to fix... Should've gone to Fluff Bar. Thanh, you should've comp'd it and ask I not leave a bad review, which I totally would've said yes to not doing. Lesson learned? Was the juice really worth the squeeze? Looks like I'm not the only one who's had this happen to them? Ladies or gents: If you want balayage or any kind of coloring service, do NOT go here. This is NOT their specialty. Run. UPDATE: Went to a highly reviewed salon a few days after my visit with Vo where I had two pros look at my hair to assess the situation (and probability of me somehow getting what I originally wanted), and both agreed that what Vo did to my hair was "pretty bad" and unprofessional. All I heard, as they were slowly combing and lifting through my hair, were soft whispers and gasps of horror with the occasional, "Girl look at this... omg..." After hearing what they could do to fix the mess Vo left me with (weeks of painstaking piece meal work and god-knows-how-much-money) I ultimately decided to have them take me back to my original brown so I could start over from square one. THAT'S how bad it was. All that time and money just to go back to brown and have my hair be short and thin instead of long and thick. God I could scream. I appreciate you offering to fix the mess you left me with, Thanh, but no thanks. I would much rather you spend the time you would've taken on fixing my hair to spending it on some coloring courses instead. Just because you own a salon doesn't mean you've mastered the art of hair. The other guy whom you trained on the fly with me has a lot of learning to do also. I could tell he didn't know what he was doing and yet you still let him touch my hair while you juggled two other clients. Unacceptable service. On top of that, neither you or the other guy ever made small talk with me, which I've never experienced at a salon in all my life. Like, not a single word or question about my day or even my name. Even if you guys had done a great job, I still wouldn't have come back due to that alone. K I'm done. Lesson learned I hope. Best of luck to you.

This appointment had been scheduled months in advance. When I received the 48-hour reminder text, I was in the middle of moving and in one of the busiest stretches of my work year. I immediately tried to call to cancel, but they were closed that day and there was no clear way to cancel through any other method. Because of everything going on, calling back the next day unfortunately slipped my mind. On the day of the appointment, they called me, and I apologized for missing it and explained the situation. During that conversation, it sounded like they might be able to work with me to avoid being charged for a service I didn't receive. However, a few days later I checked my bank account and saw that I had been charged the full amount. While I understand this may be their official policy, I reached out again to explain that I had attempted to cancel and had no available option to do so within the 48-hour window. What followed was a drawn-out process where I was consistently never called back in the time frame I was told and ultimately I was informed I would still be responsible for the full charge. After three years of loyalty--and even considering recommending them for my brother's upcoming wedding--this experience was extremely disappointing.

When I pointed out the mistake, she said she would no longer do my hair, and referred me to another stylist. This was insulting but I nevertheless scheduled a correction appointment with the 2nd stylist who explained the error made by the first stylist, why my hair looked like it did, and how she could fix it. Even though Stylist 1 made the mistake which was clearly conveyed by Stylist 2, I decided to let the 1st stylist off the hook and paid for a consult rather than having a correction on her proverbial 'record'. There was nothing the 2nd stylist could do to fix it at that moment anyway and I didn't want any awkward encounters with the other stylist going forward. I just wanted her to fix my hair and then maintain it. After 3 visits with Stylist 2, my hair was 'fixed' and we were humming along. There were a few more mistakes made but nothing major and I never said anything about them. Stylist 2 indicated it would be getting easier since she'd mapped out exactly where to apply the color going forward. When I attempted to schedule my 7th visit, the salon said they were going to have to increase my fees to a full custom color rather than the partial foil I'd received in the prior 6-7 visits. I had been getting a reverse highlight applying color to small sections (low-lights, basically) which was considered (by Hendrix) to be a partial foil from Day 1. I argued that neither the process nor the time involved had changed and I saw no reason to increase my already top tier fee. I was also frustrated at being rescheduled 3 times and it was seeming as though they would rather lose a client than continue to do my hair. I'm really disappointed because my hair was getting really good and I was excited for the next visit but they rescheduled two appointments and then with the third call to AGAIN reschedule and push my appt further out, sprang the price increase on me...and that was the last straw. Their response when I indicated I would not be rescheduling their latest cancelation was "we understand your decision". You understand my decision? You didn't even make any effort to help me understand yours. And I just want to note that I didn't mention the names of the two stylists because I'm not vindictive and I don't believe in public shaming of anyone regardless of the circumstances but suffice it to say I definitely did not feel valued as a customer. If that changes, I'll let ya know.
